POPULARITY

Anthony Mackie returns as the titular character and is joined by Shira Haas, Xosha Roquenmore & Giancarlo Esposito. Returning are Danny Ramirez & Carl Lumbly reprising their previous roles. Also joining the cast is Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a character that was originally played by William Hurt before his tragic passing in 2022. In this film, Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, is tasked to stop a new threat who has a plan to bring down the US Government but it becomes more complicated when President Ross and his administration are compromised & then targeted. William Hurt played “Ross” in 3 previous MCU films before his sudden passing. Marvel originally decided to scrap the character for the film but due to Harrison Ford wanting to join, Kevin Feige and Marvel agreed. The film hit theaters on February 14th, 2025.
Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting with President Thaddeus Ross. He must soon discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. Discussing Captain America: Brave New World and more! The post Captain America: Brave New World appeared first on inHer Glam.
We're now up to the 35th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that movie is “Captain America: Brave New World.” At the end of “Avengers: Endgame”, the OG Captain America, Steve Rogers, gave Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) the Captain America shield. Sam, had been Falcon up until that point, starting in the movies with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” After, the “Falcon And The Winter Soldier” Marvel TV series, the Sam Wilson version of Captain America is in his own movie. Captain America is tasked with making sure that some bad characters don't get their hands on some adamantium retrieved from the Celestial Being, seen in “Eternals.” It's crucial because if it's lost, it threatens dismantling a peace deal that President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross is trying to strike with countries, all who want to harvest materials from the Celestial Being. This triggers a chain of events which include an assassination attempt on President Ross, the discovery of a secret lab with clues of nefarious activity and the appearance of Red Hulk. Is this movie worth checking out at the theater? Watch this episode to find out! “Captain America: Brave New World” also stars Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Giancarlo Esposito, Xosha Roquemore, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, William Mark McCullough, Takehiro Hara and Harsh Nayyar. Captain America: Brave New World marks the beginning of the second half of The Multiverse Saga. This installment weaves long-dangling threads from 2008's Incredible Hulk, events from Captain America: Civil War, and a world-shifting revelation from Eternals into an action-forward political thriller. In keeping with early Captain America storylines, Brave New World blends its “state of the sociopolitical landscape” level-set into a plot driven by high-stakes mission and a changing of the political guard. If you're coming into Captain America: Brave New World off of a (re)watch of The Falcon and the Winter Solider series, temper those expectations. In director Julius Onah's (Luce) film, Wilson may no longer be conflicted about assuming the mantle of Captain America; but he is wrestling with his role in the US military industrial complex, the pressure to be an unassailable Black hero, and taking repeated hits to his sense of self in an anti-Black system. It's a subtle (often too subtle), but intentional, schism at play throughout the entire movie. But it pays to remember, Sam Wilson's tenure as Captain America has just begun. This is not the moment he shakes off the fetters of respectability. Just like in the comics, Wilson's path forward is a more measured and pragmatic approach to combating inequity and defending against evil; seeming to operate within the realm of current reality rather than aggressively rejecting and dismantling oppressive ideologies and their attendant institutions. As a veteran and counselor (who specialized in helping other veterans suffering from PTSD) he openly advocated for the necessity of harm mitigation while carving out sustainable solutions. He still believes that despite the obstacles and judgment that we (society) can do better. Think John Lewis, not Stokely Carmichael. And that fact alone will be reason enough for some viewers to bounce off Brave New World. Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters February 14, 2025 ♦♦ Director: Julius Onah Writers: Rob Edwards, Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, Julius Onah, Peter Glanz Starring: Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, Harrison Ford Runtime: 118 Minutes Synopsis: Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, finds himself in the middle of an international incident and must discover the motive behind a nefarious global plan. The first MCU movie of the year - Captain America: Brave New World - is now out in theaters. Honestly, I've been shockingly not excited for this movie. As much as I love Sam Wilson and I did enjoy Falcon and Winter Soldier more than most people, the behind the scenes drama on this movie and the creative team announced just kept killing my excitement as we got closer to release. I've liked the tone of the trailers but all we heard from behind the curtains weren't spelling good news for this movie at all. Of course though, I went in really wanting this movie to be good; the only reason this podcast even came to be in the first place is because of my love for the MCU and Steve Rogers has always been my favorite character in the franchise. This is our interview with Julius Onah, director of Captain America: Brave New World, and Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Seth Voelker (Sidewinder) in the film. With Onah, we discuss the creative decisions behind balancing the grounded storytelling of past Captain America films with larger-than-life elements, such as a Celestial island and the Red Hulk. With Esposito, we explore what drew him to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how he approaches playing a villain like Seth Voelker with a physicality and confidence that set him apart from his previous villainous roles.Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025.Check out our interview with Giancarlo Esposito on YouTube HereCheck out our interview with Director Julius Onah on YouTube Here Check out Geekcentric onYouTube | Instagram | Twitter | TikTokJoin the Geekcentric Discord HERE

The next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is here and so is comic book expert Erik Laws to talk with Erik Childress on how it plays out. Does it follow through on some of the ideas raised by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or is it merely just continuing a story most many have forgotten about? Laws fills in the blanks left by the treatment of Shira Haas' Widow and the remnants of the Serpent Society. Is this a genuine new beginning for the Universe or does it continue the rut that has befallen the MCU since Endgame.
Almost 6 years after being given the shield, Sam Wilson makes his first big screen appearance as Captain America as he has to deal with President Thunderbolt Ross. Listen as Ashley, Ciaran and Dylan discuss the film, share their thoughts on its use of threads from The Incredible Hulk and The Eternals and ponder how this affects the MCU going forward. The film is set to bow on May 3, 2024 DISNEY+ Charlie Cox: “If the ‘Daredevil' reboot doesn't hit the spot, then that might be it” https://www.nme.com/features/tv-interviews/charlie-cox-daredevil-treason-netflix-interview-3369586 https://www.cbr.com/charlie-cox-daredevil-fans-tv-ma-reboot-done-that/ Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox has warned fans that the upcoming Disney+ series may not be rated TV-MA, despite reports suggesting otherwise. Speaking with NME, Cox admitted that he agreed with fans who believe The Man Without Fear "works best when he's geared towards a slightly more mature audience," going on to state that his "instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won't be as gory." Cox is aware that some Marvel fans may be disappointed to hear that the tone of Born Again won't be exactly the same as the Netflix series, but that he is excited to try something new with the character. "I would say to those people, we've done that," he said. "Let's take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we've learned about what works?" Ummmm No. Just No. Go home Finn. You're Drunk. Iron Fist Star Wants to Return as Danny Rand and ‘Prove Everyone Wrong https://www.cbr.com/iron-fist-finn-jones-danny-rand/ Finn Jones, who starred on the Netflix Marvel series Iron Fist, wants another chance at playing the character. During an interview on Geekscape, the topic of Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock from Daredevil was brought up and Jones was asked if he'd also want to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Iron Fist. "I'd love another chance," he said. "I care about Danny Rand deeply, I believe in that character, I think there's a lot of work to be done. There's something about the underdog, y'know? I love the underdog narrative. I love the ability to prove someone wrong, and I want to prove all those motherfuckers wrong. I know I have it in me and I know I can give the Danny Rand performance that fans want and that is possible." Charlie Cox puts strong case forward for She-Hulk's Tatiana Maslany to return in new Daredevil series – and has high hopes for more Marvel crossovers https://metro.co.uk/2022/12/23/daredevil-charlie-cox-wants-she-hulks-tatiana-maslany-in-new-series-17989179/ https://www.cbr.com/daredevil-born-again-charlie-cox-excited-mcu-crossovers/ Ahead of the release of his upcoming series, Daredevil: Born Again, Charlie Cox hopes to see more MCU crossovers following the Daredevil franchise's shift from Netflix to Disney+. Speaking with Metro, Cox revealed his desire for more Marvel crossovers, saying the move to Disney+ potentially opens up more opportunities for characters from different MCU shows to interact. Though he hasn't heard anything concrete yet, Cox remains optimistic that superheroes from various films and shows will cross paths in future MCU series. "I don't know anything. I haven't read anything from any scripts," Cox said. "So I don't know. I have no idea. But the only thing that's fun going forward for the Daredevil show is that of course when we were on Netflix, we didn't have the opportunity to really have the crossovers other than the characters that we knew we had in that Netflix Marvel world." Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Military correspondent Emanuel Fabian and culture editor Jessica Steinberg join host Amanda Borschel-Dan. On Tuesday, 21-year-old Staff Sgt. Ido Baruch was shot and killed near the settlement of Shavei Shomron in the northern West Bank. Fabian fills in the details of this tragic death during the ongoing wave of terror. Fabian describes a recent tour he took of the Southern Command Training Base, known in the army by the Hebrew acronym Baf Darom. Steinberg describes Israel's premiere satirical sketch comedy show, “Eretz Nehederet” (“It's a Wonderful Country”), which is marking 20 years on air. While many Marvel comics fans were pleased to hear about the inclusion of Israeli actress Shira Haas as Sabra in an upcoming movie, not all comic book fans — or creators — are on board. Steinberg brings us up to super speed. Discussed articles include: Soldier killed in checkpoint shooting buried as hunt for suspect enters third day Soldier killed in shooting attack while securing settler march in northern West Bank In the Negev, a fake fence prepares troops for fighting Gaza from the outside Israel's favorite sketch comedy show celebrates 20 years of political satire Sabra may get Marvel role, but she's a superficial character, say comic book artists IMAGE: Comic book artist Uri Fink drew and posted his Sabraman retort on Twitter to Marvel's Sabra character in an upcoming 2024 film. Erin gets animated about how American Jews do or don't talk about Israel; Esther makes an impression of a car speeding away and makes up a fake sponsor for the episode. Marvel Studios has announced that it was introducing the comic book heroine Sabra in its upcoming film “Captain America: New World Order.” The comic book superhero is to be played by Israeli actress Shira Haas. Calev Ben David is the anchor for the nightly news program “The Rundown” at I-24 News, and is also a long-time comic book fan. Ben-David said he suspects the character in the upcoming Captain America film will likely focus on conspiracy theories, neo-Nazis and anti-Semitism. He told reporter Arieh O'Sullivan that having already introduced a Muslim superhero, Ms. Marvel, they figured they could also have an Israeli superhero. Shira Haas is an Israeli-born, Emmy-nominated actress who dominated our quarantine screens through her career-defining performance as Esty Shapiro in Netflix's Unorthodox. At just 26-years-old, she's garnered international success - but she's no stranger to critical acclaim. She earned her first Ophir Award (Israel's equivalent of the Academy Awards) at 19-years-old with her debut role in “Princess” - a role that she landed through a message on Facebook. And just last April, she won Best International Actress at the Tribeca Film Festival for her latest role as the lead in “Asia,” a film where she plays a young teen facing her own mortality because of an illness while also finding a connection with her mother, Asia, before it's too late. We met up in New York City to celebrate the premiere and chat about her decade long career journey, how she sees art gateway to empathy, and her best tips for becoming an actress. Love the show? Hold onto your invisible kippahs (especially while drinking water during the impeachment trial), because the Bagels are talking awards show nominations, challenging Hollywood to create more thoughtful Jewish portrayals, and wishing a mazal tov to Steven Spielberg on being named the Genesis Prize Laureate for 2021. Plus, Erin knows Broadway musicals so well that she can use the term "choreo," while Esther brainstorms about casting Julia Garner and Shira Haas as sisters in something. And this week's speed round might be the speediest yet! (Which is to say, not all that speedy, but speedier than usual, so we will take the win.) Finally, with Valentine's Day approaching, and since Esther's celebrating her nephew's bar mitzvah and Erin her brother's birthday virtually due to pandemic concerns, it's time to think differently about love.
