Her Police Husband Was Shot, The Impact on her. Special Episode. When Kelli Hill-Lowe received the call that her police officer husband had been shot, she was thrown into a nightmare. There were no immediate answers. Was he dead? Was he alive? Was his condition life-threatening? All she knew was that the man she loved had been ambushed in a premeditated act of violence while doing what he had always done, serve and protect. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms Sergeant Charles Lowe, a longtime member of the St. Louis Police Department, was working a secondary job as a security officer in the city's Central West End when he was attacked. While sitting in his civilian vehicle, a group approached. One man leapt out and opened fire. Lowe, protected by a bulletproof vest, survived the shooting. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. “He was shot at close range,” Kelli recalled. “It was an ambush. They wanted him dead.” The 2015 shooting sent shockwaves through both the law enforcement and local communities. It wasn't until February 2024 that full legal closure came. A jury found the attacker guilty on four counts including assault and armed criminal action. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Another individual was sentenced to 30 years. After the verdict, Charles Lowe expressed his relief: “I feel like some stress has been lifted off my shoulders. Emotionally it was kind of a roller coaster. But today feels good to have some closure.” Her Police Husband Was Shot, The Impact. Listen to the interview with him as a Free Podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. Reflecting on the night of the shooting, Charles shared how instinct and faith played a role in his survival. “There was nothing particular about them,” he said of the group. “But the hairs on my neck stood up. And at that point, there was a voice that told me grab my vest. I know it was God.” The impact of the shooting was not only physical but deeply emotional for the Lowe family. As Kelli watched her husband begin his long journey of recovery, she found herself wrestling with fear, uncertainty, and the painful realization that their life had changed forever. But instead of allowing trauma to define her, Kelli found a purpose. Today, she serves as President of the National Police Wives Association (NPWA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, resources, and outreach to law enforcement spouses across the country. The group has grown its national presence, using social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn to connect families and spread awareness. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium, Blogspot and Linkedin. “After the shooting, I kept thinking, there have to be others like me, spouses who feel helpless, who need help navigating this life,” Kelli said. “That's what motivated me to step into this role with NPWA. We're here to help.” Her Police Husband Was Shot, The Impact. The NPWA isn't just a support network, it's a movement. The group focuses on mentoring new law enforcement spouses, encouraging volunteerism, and promoting mental wellness for officers and their families. In one of its signature initiatives, NPWA organized a national suicide awareness campaign, planting 55 purple flags, one for each state and five for U.S. territories. The display not only honored fallen officers but also brought attention to mental health resources available nationwide. “We want every spouse and every department to know, there is support. There is hope. And together, we can make a difference,” Kelli explained. To expand the conversation, Kelli and Charles have also shared their story on news outlets and podcasts, including the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast streaming for free on their website plus platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other platforms too. Through these appearances, they hope to reach both law enforcement families and the general public, using their voices to bring light to the unseen struggles behind the badge. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms. “Being a police family means constantly balancing fear with faith,” Kelli said. “What happened to Charles could have destroyed us. Instead, it gave us a new mission.” Her husband was shot, but her resolve became stronger. With every story told, every connection made, and every flag planted, Kelli Hill-Lowe is helping rewrite the narrative of what it means to survive tragedy and serve others through it. Her Police Husband Was Shot, The Impact. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. Marc & Kim cover a packed Tuesday's show with discussions on Missouri's legislative battles, including key bills protecting women's sports and bathroom policies. The activism of Moms Demand Action pushing for anti-gun policies in Jefferson City is also explored, alongside the resumption of abortions at Planned Parenthood in the Central West End. Marc also questions the delay in Amendment 3 modifications, allowing opposition to rally. They delve into the controversy surrounding Tesla vandalism, where activists targeted Elon Musk's brand, and emphasize the importance of voter participation with live voter guides. The show continues with a discussion on President Trump's playful remarks about a third term, which Kim dismisses as a media distraction. They also dive into the absurdity of a UK case where a toddler was suspended for allegedly being transphobic, before moving into a deeper conversation about radical ideologies in schools and the importance of parental involvement in school board elections. The final segment covers the gripping testimony of a hostage survivor, who was starved and tortured for over 350 days, and criticizes the mainstream media, particularly 60 Minutes, for downplaying the real horrors of hostage situations and terrorists' brutal actions.

he Revolutionary Black Panther Party or RBPP is a Marxist-Leninist black nationalist organization in the United States. RBPP claims to continue the legacy of the Black Panther Party (BPP) of the 1960s.In 1992 the RBPP was created. The RBPP states its aims as "protecting and defending our people against genocide, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity, the Black African Holocaust and race war waged against people of African descent."The RBPP considers itself to be a continuation of the Black Panther Party active in the United States from 1966 and 1982. RBPP leader Alli Muhammad (Chief-General-In-Command), was raised as a member of the BPP. According to Muhammad, "Growing up a Panther cub … there are things engrained in you, that you can never get out of you, and it matures you, it is difficult to erase this maturity and as a fully grown panther, it lives on in the Revolution, in the Revolutionary Black Panther Party".The RBPP launched what they call the "Armed Black Human Rights Movement" and "Armed Freedom Rides" and did an "Armed Human Rights March" with machetes and rifles through the Central West End (white community) of St. Louis, Missouri, for what according to Alli Muhammad, was "in honor of the humanity" of black victims such as Michael Brown., Alton Sterling, Angelo Brown and Darren Seals. In 2016, RBPP marched in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, armed with guns, to protest to what they referred to as "genocide" of African Americans at the hands of law enforcement. The RBPP called for the resignation of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Police Chief Ed Flynn. Now they are up against MAGA and the whole authoritarian eco-system.Che Guevara "I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.
Kim on a Whim: Kim vs Saint Louis Housing Bill. Kim and Marc discuss a new housing bill moving through the Missouri Senate aimed at converting office spaces into housing, with a focus on revitalizing downtown Saint Louis. While some believe this will breathe life into the city, the hosts argue that safety must come first. They highlight how crime and perceptions of danger are key obstacles to revitalization, sharing stories of rising crime in areas like the Central West End and Downtown. The conversation also touches on how regional government plans, championed by likely future mayor Kara Spencer, may further impact the city's future.
Marc & Kim start the show with a discussion on the recent developments in St. Louis, as a crime bill moves forward, aimed at restoring local police control. The hosts highlight Mayor Tishaura Jones' concerns about the $41 million police budget increase by 2028, and the city's struggle with staffing levels amid a controversial funding shift. They also explore the ongoing legal battle over Missouri's minimum wage hike and the fight against increasing mandates on small businesses. Mark dives into Howard Lutnick's fiery defense of President Trump's tough stance on tariffs, particularly the retaliatory 50% tariffs against Canada's tax hike on American energy. The hosts discuss the broader trade implications and the U.S. standing firm as a global power. Then, Kim and Marc debate a new housing bill aimed at revitalizing downtown St. Louis, but safety concerns about rising crime in areas like the Central West End and Downtown take center stage. Mark wraps up with a humorous segment about his unique superpower: an unusually sensitive sense of smell, which leads him to recount his struggles with an overpowering skunk odor in the Chesterfield Valley, and a past nightmare with his dog getting sprayed.
Prompted by a spate of prominent closures that rocked the St. Louis restaurant scene over the last few months, Arch Eats co-hosts George Mahe and Cheryl Baehr found themselves asking this question a lot—and they know you’ve been doing the same. After jotting down at least 50 places they wish they could dine at again, the pair narrowed down their list to their 13 most-missed spots that include everything from a long-lost Loop wine bar to a basement Italian joint in the Central West End and a south city hot spot that (somewhat) lives again in the form of two very popular restaurants. Did yours make the list? Tune in for this walk down memory lane to find out, reminisce, and relive some of your fondest St. Louis food memories. It's the Best Podcast in Baseball Holiday Episode: Part 1. Comedian Greg Warren, a St. Louis native and devoted Cardinals fan, took over as entertainment for his friends at ballgames this past year when the results on the field were hardly a laughing matter. If that meant waving off the t-shirt slingshot or spiking his hat in frustration when the ball wasn't under the cap he guessed, then so be it. Warren, whose new special 'The Salesman' is available on YouTube, joins St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports columnist Ben Frederickson and baseball writer Derrick Goold at Sunday Best, a restaurant in St. Louis' Central West End, to discuss his beloved Cardinals, what it's like being a fan this winter after a 91-loss season, and much much more, including the nightmare of seeing an actual can of corn hurtling toward you in right field. Part 2 of the discussion will appear shortly after this one drops. Owning a restaurant is not an easy feat – we talked about it in last week's 5-year anniversary episode with restauranteur Gerard Craft. If you haven't listened, make sure to hit play after you listen to this brand-new episode. This week we talk to longtime St. Louis restaurant owner Michael Ly. Michael grew up in the restaurant business. His family owned a Chinese restaurant in West St. Louis County. 20 years ago, his mom and stepdad opened Saigon Café in the Central West End. It was a totally different neighborhood at the time and Michael has watched it grow around the restaurant he now runs and operates. The Vietnamese restaurant is now a neighborhood stable, growing with the times while also remaining true to its spirit. We talk about the legacy of a family business, his favorite things to cook outside of the restaurant, and of course, we're sharing the can't miss dishes. In this episode, we talk about the Red Lantern Night Market scheduled for July 22 from 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. outside Saigon Café.
