Ben & Rob cross the streams for ‘Ghostbusters', kicking off their series covering every Ghostbustin' movie ever! Starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis and Ernie Hudson and directed by Ivan Reitman, this 1984 film was not only a smash hit critically and commercially but has been loved and revered since then, spawning multiple sequels, reboots, animated series and much more. This episode features an interview with Dana Barrett, VP of Marketing at Tremendous, a company that offers a simple way to send rewards and payouts around the world. In this episode, Dana discusses the ways that incentivizing your ideal customer provides impact across use cases, whether you are looking to build pipeline, drive sales, get participants in studies, etc. She also talks about carefully identifying your target persona and focusing on a small number of priorities.Key Takeaways:Incentives are a great way to drive impact, regardless of your use case (generate pipeline, sales, gaining study participants, etc.)It's important to find the sweet spot when incentivizing. Don't offer a discount so high that people take the offer without any interest in the product; make it just low enough that it attracts people who genuinely have an interest.Define your ideal customer persona and stay focused on a few key items to go after them.Quote: “ Incentives, regardless of your use case, are a great way to drive impact. Whether you're trying to grow pipeline. Whether you're trying to drive sales. Whether you want to make sure people participate in your studies, and you can recruit people in global markets that you're trying to figure out how to get people to just respond or participate. And so based on what we do, we're starting to see some best practices or things that can actually position you better to reach your ultimate goal, which is sales, pipeline, et cetera.”Episode Timestamps: *(02:52) The Trust Tree: Building awareness of brand and category*(14:11) The Playbook: Investing in content*(28:17) The Dust Up: Diffusing tension between product and sales *(30:07) Dana's Quick HitsSponsor:Pipeline Visionaries is brought to you by Qualified.com, the #1 Conversational Marketing platform for companies that use Salesforce and the secret weapon for pipeline pros. We're going back to another childhood favorite this week to kick off the best supporting spooky season! “Ghostbusters” may be a perfect vehicle for Bill Murray to do the Bill Murray thing, but we're here for some long overdue Annie Potts appreciation as bespectacled receptionist Janine and to, of course, recognize the icon that is Dana Barrett's apartment. (That fridge!) To say nothing of Sigourney Weaver herself, who may actually have the best role in the movie. (Certainly better than poor Winston!) We also have feelings for Dan Ackroyd that need to be discussed. Plot: After Columbia University parapsychology professors Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler experience their first encounter with a ghost at the New York Public Library, the university dean dismisses the credibility of their paranormal-focused research and fires them. The trio responds by establishing "Ghostbusters", a paranormal investigation and elimination service operating out of a disused firehouse. They develop high-tech nuclear-powered equipment to capture and contain ghosts, although business is initially slow. After a paranormal encounter in her apartment, cellist Dana Barrett calls the Ghostbusters. She recounts witnessing a demonic dog-like creature in her refrigerator utter a single word: "Zuul". Ray and Egon research Zuul and details of Dana's building while Peter inspects her apartment and unsuccessfully attempts to seduce her. The Ghostbusters are hired to remove a gluttonous ghost, Slimer, from the Sedgewick Hotel. Having failed to properly test their equipment, Egon warns the group that crossing the energy streams of their proton pack weapons could cause a catastrophic explosion. They capture the ghost and deposit it in an ecto-containment unit under the firehouse. Supernatural activity rapidly increases across the city and the Ghostbusters become famous; they hire a fourth member, Winston Zeddemore, to cope with the growing demand. Suspicious of the Ghostbusters, Environmental Protection Agency inspector Walter Peck asks to evaluate their equipment but Peter rebuffs him. Egon warns that the containment unit is nearing capacity and supernatural energy is surging across the city. Peter meets with Dana and informs her Zuul was a demigod worshipped as a servant to "Gozer the Gozerian", a shapeshifting god of destruction. Upon returning home, she is possessed by Zuul; a similar entity possesses her neighbor, Louis Tully. Peter arrives and finds the possessed Dana/Zuul claiming to be "the Gatekeeper". Louis is brought to Egon by police officers and claims he is "Vinz Clortho, the Keymaster". The Ghostbusters agree to keep the pair separated. Peck returns with law enforcement and city workers to have the Ghostbusters arrested and their containment unit deactivated, causing an explosion that releases the captured ghosts. Louis/Vinz escapes in the confusion and makes his way to the apartment building to join Dana/Zuul. In jail, Ray and Egon reveal Ivo Shandor, leader of a Gozer-worshipping cult, designed Dana's building to function as an antenna to attract and concentrate spiritual energy to summon Gozer and bring about the apocalypse. Faced with supernatural chaos across the city, the Ghostbusters convince the mayor to release them. The Ghostbusters travel to the apartment building roof as Dana/Zuul and Louis/Vinz open the gate between dimensions and transform into demonic dogs. Gozer appears as a woman and attacks the Ghostbusters then disappears when they attempt to retaliate. Her disembodied voice demands the Ghostbusters "choose the form of the destructor". Ray inadvertently recalls a beloved corporate mascot from his childhood, and Gozer reappears as a gigantic Stay Puft Marshmallow Man that begins destroying the city. Against his earlier advice, Egon instructs the team to cross their proton energy streams at the dimensional gate. The resulting explosion destroys Gozer's avatar, banishing it back to its dimension, and closes the gateway. The Ghostbusters rescue Dana and Louis from the wreckage and are welcomed on the street as heroes. TOP 5Before the Ghostbusters become established in New York City, they release a commercial to advertise their services. The three original members — Peter Venkman (Bill Murrey), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) — appear on television, with the number 555-2368. During the film's theatrical release in 1984, Ivan Reritman ran that very same commercial, which allowed people to call in. Callers would hear a pre-recorded message from Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, who announced that they were unable to answer as they were busy busting ghosts! The number received 1,000 calls every hour, 24 hours a day, for several weeks! Sadly, the line is no longer operational, so if you're being troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night, or you're experiencing feelings of dread in your basement or attic, we don't know what to tell you!“Ghostbusters” is such an iconic title — so much so, that many fans still haven't noticed that, following the opening scene in the New York Public Library in the original 1984 film, the title that appears on the screen is actually two words and not one, reading “Ghost Busters”! Before the filmmakers settled on the now iconic title, Dan Aykroyd originally considered the title “Ghost Smashers”, while “Ghostbreakers” was also an option. The sign outside the Ghostbusters fire station in New York even had variations of these titles during production. “Ghostbusters” wasn't available because of Filmation's Ghostbusters (1975), an unrelated TV series (there's also a 1986 cartoon). In the end, Columbia Pictures obtained the rights, while The Real Ghostbusters (1986 — 1991) was so named to distinguish it from the Filmation version.Despite becoming one of the most iconic characters in the entire Ghostbusters franchise, Slimer is never actually name-dropped in either of the two movies, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II (1989). However, he was referred to as “Onionhead” by the crew of the original film. The “ugly little spud” wasn't actually named “Slimer” until the animated show, The Real Ghostbusters, in which he's part of the team. It's this that inspired his more friendly cameo in Ghostbusters II, in which he offers Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) a ride in a town car. Slimer isn't the only ghost in the original movie who isn't referred to by the name we now know him by Gozer's two minions, Vinz Clortho/the keymaster and Zuul/the gatekeeper are never referred to as "terror dogs", despite the hellhounds now being synonymous with the name.As well as being called “Onionhead” by the crew members of the original 1984 film, Slimer also went by another name — “The Ghost of John Belushi”, something Dan Aykroyd started. Aykroyd has since confirmed that Slimer was heavily inspired by the late John Belushi. For starters, the green spook's hankering for food was based on Belushi's cafeteria scene in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). The role of Peter Venkman was originally written for the actor, however, he passed away while Aykroyd was working on the script in early 1984. While there are no direct references to the actor in the film, there are plenty throughout IDW's Ghostbusters comic book series, some of which even feature Belushi's character, “Joliet” Jake Blues, from The Blues Brothers (1980), which also stars Dan Aykroyd as Elwood Blues.Once the Ghostbusters cross the streams, the rift between the two dimensions causes the Marshmallow Man to explode, raining down marshmallow on the unsuspecting New Yorkers below. But getting that amount of actual marshmallows to dump on the film's extras was implausible. Instead, Edlund's team collected 500-gallon batches of shaving cream to substitute for the remnants of Mr. Stay-Puft. William Atherton, who played EPA villain Walter Peck, was skeptical about having such a large amount of heavy cream dropped on him, so they tested the idea on a stuntman using only 75 pounds, and it knocked him to the ground. The stuntman was okay, and another smaller batch was collected to dump on Atherton for the final take in the film. **TRIPLE LINDY AWARD** **REVIEW AND RATING**TreyChrisStephen .5Tucker .5 TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 T23 Ghostbuster4 Sandlot5 Color out of space Chris:1. sandlots2. Acomi and Turk182 talk Ghostbusters, Karate Kid, celebrity hook ups, and Mark Paul Gosselaar. Turk questions why no one ever mentions that in Ghostbusters Louis Tully scores with Dana Barrett before Peter Venkman does, and he does it on Venkman's date night. Acomi then talks about the Karate Kid movies and how quickly they dismiss Daniel LaRusso's girlfriends at the beginning of each movie. He goes on to describe what a bad boyfriend Daniel is, and possibly an all around bad person. Acomi and Turk question how seemingly unconnected celebrities meet and hook up. Particularly, celebrities that aren't currently in the spotlight. Ghostbusters centers on three university researchers (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis) of paranormal activity who go into business of their own once they get into trouble for their uncouth antics, and their grant money runs out. They emerge on the scene as the "Ghostbusters", a trio of exterminators (of sorts), willing to investigate phenomena from anyone in New York City willing to call their number and pay their fees. Though the public is initially skeptical, these men soon become heroes, then celebrities, for their success rate, drawing the attention of the media, as well as the EPA (who are curious about their containment system), as the amount of ghostly appearances seems to be on a major upswing. Sigourney Weaver co-stars as a cellist named Dana Barrett, who is one of the first in her old building to begin seeing strange things in her refrigerator, causing her to make the call she never thought she'd have to make. Along with her neighbor, Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), she becomes the conduit for the rise of the malevolent Babylonian spirit, whose aims are to bring darkness onto the world. Directed by Ivan Reitman. Erratum: The artist friend Aykroyd used for conceptual art on Ghost Smashers was John "The Viking" Deveikis, not the cited Thom Enriquez, who made additional conceptual art once Reitman was on board.

They will touch on the things that make Ghostbusters 2 awful like Bill Murray's lack of charisma, a poorly rehashed script, and jokes that fall flat.Having lost their status and credibility five years after covering New York City with marshmallow in Ghostbusters (1984), the once-famous band of spirit-hunters find themselves struggling to keep afloat, working odd jobs. However, when Dana Barrett and her baby, Oscar, have yet another terrifying encounter with the paranormal, it's up to Peter Venkman and his fearless team of supernatural crime-fighters to save the day. Now, once more, humanity is in danger, as rivers of slimy psycho-reactive ectoplasm, and the dreadful manifestation of the evil sixteenth-century tyrant, Vigo the Carpathian, threaten to plunge the entire city into darkness unless the selfless Ghostbusters take action. Can they save the world for the second time?

Hey everyone! In this episode, we talk about the recent unveils at Toy Fair 2020! This year was jammed packed with awesome toys for display so Noah and I cover our favorites. We could have made a ten episode saga of four hour podcasts that covered EVERYTHING but we will save you all from that and give you our highlights. First off, we cover some new figures from Mezco Toys in their One:12 Collective line which is their flagship adult collector figures that come with tons of accessories, different heads and hands, as well as real cloth and materials for their costumes! First up, we talk about their exclusive 1989 Tim Burton Batman figure they put up recently on their site. As a huge fan of the movie and my favorite Batman, I fanboy really hard on this. At Toy Fair, they showed their new Two-Face and Mr. Freeze figures so we discuss or feelings on those ( spoiler: they are great!) Next, we talk about the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures that NECA showed off both from the 90's movie as well as the Cartoon. Both of these figure lines are hugely popular and these are the next waves coming out this year. The other thing that NECA had to show off that should get more attention is their upcoming prop replicas from Both Batman the Animated Series AND 1989 Batman movie. You can imagine my delight and I discuss my plans to buy a bunch of batarangs and throw them all over the house Hasbro has a crazy amount to show off from there 40th Anniversary Empire Strikes Back figures from their Black Series line, their resurrection of GI Joe as a toy line, and even reproductions of the Real Ghostbusters figures that Kenner released back in the 80's. We discuss our thoughts and I completely blank on Sigourney Weaver's character, Dana Barrett and look like an idiot but I SWEAR I like the 1984 movie and can't wait for the 6" figures they have coming out. Lastly, we gush super hard on Super7's upcoming line of TMNT figures from their Ultimates line! These things are going to make us go broke so listen to the episode to hear us tell you why they are so friggin sweet. As always, email us at mail@playwithitpodcast.com and give us some feedback and tell us some stories we can share on the podcast! And remember kids, don't forget to Play With It!

Guys, we've reached a true turning point for the Large Marge Sent Us podcast. We're covering our first sequel and we couldn't be happier about it! Released in 1989, Ghostbusters 2 proton packed itself into the Sweetie mindset quite early, and while far inferior to Ghostbusters, it still has us rolling in the aisles and loving all the cool ghosty stuff that enchanted us from the first film. Set 5 years after the first film, we're back to NYC, where the Ghostbuster's are down on their luck in a world without a whole lotta ghosts until Vigo the Carpathian comes alive and wants to become a man baby by stealing the soul of poor Dana Barrett's baby. Join us as we talk about what makes a good sequel, how we really sort of hate Dana Barrett, why old fashioned baby carriages are nobody's friend, and if the fan theory that Oscar is the love child of Vinze Clortho and Zuul's, holds water. Plus amazing renditions of Bobby Brown's jam from the soundtrack and Jackie Wilson's iconic, "Higher and Higher"! Theme song performed by Deidre Cullen. Logo designed by Frankie Donlon. Hey guys, when there's something strange in your neighborhood who ya gonna call? THE SWEETIES obviously. That's right, we're covering 1984's classic comedy flick Ghostbusters and we're very excited about it. Join us as we discuss why Dana Barrett is a crazy fame whore, our cool idea for a Ghostbusters prequel AND the confusion about the logistics of this crossing the streams solution. (Still dubious). Obviously we love this movie, and we know you do too. So let's quit talking and start busting up dem ghosts! Theme song performed by Deidre Cullen. Logo designed by Frankie Donlon. This week on the show, it's the calm before the storm. This weekend is the International Toy Fair in New York, plus a whole bunch of news is on the horizon. So Troy and Chris take this opportunity to talk nerdy about Dana Barrett's apartment and how it may have fared after the interdimensional crossrip that occurred there. Are you legal required to tell a potential tenant that a building had a 50-foot marshmallow man climb it and two of its previous occupants were possessed by demonic dogs?
Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
Leverage Media Opportunities to Achieve Agency Business Growth Looking to use new media opportunities to build momentum for your digital agency and gain new agency business growth? In this episode we cover: How to create a media pitch that scores an interview Ways to prepare for the interview, and how to knock it out of the park When and how to promote your media opportunity to promote agency business growth A feature in the media can be a killer lead generator! My guest, Dana Barrett has got a ton of tips for us on getting media attention - and she should know! Dana hosts a daily business talk show on Atlanta 1190AM radio and is a panelist on Tech Edge, a local TV show. She typically interviews 1-2 companies across different sectors every single day! In this episode of The Smart Agency Master Class she talks with me about how a small business can get media attention, what to do once you score an interview and how to keep the momentum going when it's over. Make a Pitch Reach out with a simple and direct email pitch. Be clear on what you do, why it's different and who you serve. You must capture the reader's attention in the first 2-3 sentences! Also, show you've done your homework by stating why you are a good fit with this audience of listeners, viewers or readers. Don't throw in a bunch of stats, figures, or “hoopla”, as Dana calls it. The subject line should be equally as direct, like “Possible Show Guest”. Prepare for the Interview Know your stuff and be ready to talk about it freely. Dana's pet peeve: being given a list of topics or questions to avoid. Instead, she says, learn how to address those things even if you have to put on a politician hat and just say during the interview, “I'm not willing to discuss that today.” Local media want to help you tell your story, so give them the talking points you do want to address. Dana also says you must able to speak about your business in an unrehearsed way. Be confident and genuine. Radio interviews are probably easier than TV interviews because there are less people watching you during the interview but regardless of who's in the room remember you are there to build relationships both the audience and the interviewer. People want to know who you are, what you stand for, and why you are special. If they can get behind you for those things, then sales will result from it. Lastly, don't be boring! Interacting with the media gives your brand a personality that will either resonate with the audience or... it won't. But, no pressure! :) Promote the Heck Out of It to Generate Agency Business Growth Before, during and after…. post it, tweet it and promote it. Whatever your social media platforms, give a it's imperative to make sure your social followers know about it prior to the interview, the day of, the hour before and for weeks afterwards. Today, everything lives digitally for all of eternity - use that to your benefit! Also, treat your interviewer as you would any other networking contact. It's not “one and done”... you can continue to help each other out. Remember, they're getting something out of this, too. You are providing them with good content and delivering an audience. It's a win-win. Media exposure can be an awesome way to generate leads!
