Getting a citizenship, asylum or a permanent residency case in front of a judge is a notoriously slow process. Now, the Trump administration is speeding it up with so-called “mega master” calendar hearings where dozens of people are asked to appear in immigration court on short notice. This means people have to scramble to find a lawyer, arrange childcare, and get the day off work, leaving many unable to attend their court hearing. But, if people fail to show up to court, it could mean an automatic deportation order. The administration says it's a way to reduce the number of cases backlogged but some advocates call it a tactic to further the administration's goal of mass deportations. In the Loop sits down with an immigration reporter to get the latest and hears from an Illinois lawmaker calling for the end of the “mega master” court hearings.GUESTS: Adriana Cardona-Maguigad, WBEZ Immigration reporterU.S. Rep. David Waldman and Greg Dworkin inch open the Thursday news levee. Natalie Harp! How does she do it? How DARE we discuss Natalie banging that stud Donald K. Trump? Hey now! Natalie loves Donald like she would love any top executive, you know… in a "biblical sense"… which of course includes hiding in trunks, sleeping on the floor, and maintaining one's pants and any items therein. Heaven forfend any notion of "wifely duties"! Those, Melania can keep. Pete Hegseth's "Natalie Harp" is his wife, who knows better than to give Pete any leash. Wait a second. Is all this just a distraction from the important issues? Yep, but we have time for those also. Deportations and the economy are losers for Trump, as well as the candidates he is endorsing. Shock! Polls show that Republicans are behind in America's reddest states. Democrats reign victorious in hypothetical matchups, probably across multiple universes. No one wants to read a horoscope written by a false astrologer, and similarly, no one would want fake polling, unless they found a profit in it. The White House has its own fake vote.gov. You don't need polls to know people hate data centers, and the data they center from AI and Flock cameras, because all your friends will tell you all about it. Gops were a little slow on the uptake however because all their friends are investors, yet have recently begun to catch on, from Ohio, down to Texas. America's strategic oil reserve is so low that it might collapse our economy, but if it gets any lower it could collapse the salt domes used to store it.

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to Japanese America! In Season 3, Episode 7, we step directly into one of the most monumental, legally complex, and deeply emotional chapters in our community's history: the fight for Japanese American Redress. While most people think of Redress in terms of the landmark Civil Liberties Act of 1988 and the 120,000 Japanese Americans forced into domestic concentration camps, there is a massive parallel story of international kidnapping and legal limbo that took decades to bring to light. In this episode, we explore the extraordinary narrative of Japanese Latin American (JLA) deportees. Through the rare, deeply personal oral histories of the three Naganuma Brothers—Jimmy, George Kazuharu, and Kazumu Julio Cesar—we trace a family's journey from a thriving life in Callao, Peru, to being abducted by the U.S. military, fumigated with DDT upon arrival in New Orleans, and incarcerated at the Department of Justice internment camp in Crystal City, Texas. We examine their multi-decade battle for basic legal status after being classified as "illegal entrants," and highlight the fierce advocacy of their sister Kiyo, whose bold confrontation with U.S. officials made her siblings some of the few Japanese Peruvians to receive the full $20,000 Redress settlement. Koji also shares his own personal connection to Crystal City, where his family was incarcerated after his grandfather gave up his citizenship, illustrating the diverse and irony-filled nature of that campLinks & Resources MentionedDiscover Nikkei & Densho Partnership: Listen to the full oral histories and read the complete transcripts for Jimmy Naganuma (https://ddr.densho.org/narrators/927/), George Naganuma (https://ddr.densho.org/narrators/928/), and Kazumu Julio Cesar Naganuma (https://ddr.densho.org/narrators/927/)Learn More: Visit the Japanese American National Museum (JANM.org) for exhibitions, history, and community resources.Follow & Support UsEnjoyed the episode?  Don't forget to rate, review, and tell a friend! CreditsThe music was created by Jalen BlankWritten by Koji Steven SakaiHosts: Michelle Malazaki and Koji Steven SakaiEdited by Koji Steven SakaiProduced by Koji Steven Sakai in conjunction with the Japanese American National MuseumSupport the show

The Supreme Court is being presented with yet another momentous illegal migrants decision to make—is an illegal who can manage to drag out the deportation process long enough entitled by law to a bond hearing that will inevitably release him to disappear once again into the American interior, or is the government allowed to detain that illegal migrant for the duration of the deportation process regardless of how long the illegal delays that process?Key to all this: The detainee subject to deportation is entitled by law at any time to raise his hand and be released—he just must choose some place other than the United States has his place of release.  He is only detained so long as he is demanding the right to remain in the US. Currently there is a circuit split on this question, with some federal circuits siding with the Trump administration argument that ongoing detention is lawful under both statute and Constitutional due process law—and that, in any case, Congress has stripped the Article III courts of the jurisdiction to hear these deportation cases--and other federal circuits claiming that not only must the government offer a bond hearing, but that there must be an overwhelming burden of proof on the government to deny bond and release, such that it is inevitable that illegals detained will be set free into the American interior.Trump's senior advisor Steven Miller's “American First Legal” organization has just filed an excellent Amicus Brief supporting (naturally) the Trump administration's position, and I'll be covering that brief in today's show.Join me LIVE at Noon ET as I break it all down!Clarence Thomas x 9: Perfect SCOTUS Mugs! https://tinyurl.com/k778wj2kFor complete Medicare guidance, dial (617) 644-0093 to speak with my trusted partner, Chapter. All @TheBrancaShow mugs & MORE! https://tinyurl.com/k778wj2kJOIN OUR COMMUNITY! Minnesota Now
New rule limits interviews for many asylum seekers, fast-tracking deportations

Minnesota Now

A new story from Sahan Journal looks at a change in federal immigration policy and what it means in Minnesota. The policy has to do with affirmative asylum seekers, or people who applied for asylum with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Under a new rule, USCIS officers can send their applications straight to an immigration judge, without interviewing them first. The agency said in its announcement the change will help chip away at a massive backlog in asylum cases. But some lawyers in Minnesota say it will land more asylum seekers in court, facing deportation. And it comes as the federal government is rolling back other protections for people who fear returning to their home countries. Sahan Journal reporter Shubhanjana Das has been covering the story and joined Minnesota Now host Nina Moini to talk about her reporting.

The Pulse of Israel
The Michigan Primary Is Not About One Candidate. It's About Jihad Inside America's Gates

The Pulse of Israel

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 9, 2026 8:55

Michigan primary results reveal a deeper truth many refuse to face. Abdul El-Sayed's victory is not just a progressive win or a milestone for Muslim representation. It is another data point showing the steady rise of political influence tied to a 1,400-year-old jihadi ideology inside America. Regardless if El-Sayed wins the general election or not against the Republican, this is a dangerous precedent that will repeat itself more and more. For decades, leaders of major American Muslim organizations have openly stated their goals. CAIR co-founder Omar Ahmad said Islam is not in America to be equal but to become dominant. Nihad Awad spoke of building an “army” of professionals to deliver dozens of members of Congress. ISNA figures have talked about establishing Allah's rules in all lands and changing the American Constitution. The 1991 Muslim Brotherhood Explanatory Memorandum, entered into evidence in the Holy Land Foundation trial, called this work a “Civilization-Jihadist Process” aimed at destroying Western civilization from within. These are not fringe statements. They come from the institutional networks that shape American Muslim political life. The same ideology produces chants of “Khaybar Khaybar ya Yahud" celebrating the Muslim massacre of Jews back in 628 EC, celebrations of October 7, and the refusal to clearly condemn jihadi violence.El-Sayed's primary win, like the rise of figures such as Mamdani in New York, is a symptom. The larger reality is a supremacist jihadi political-religious ideology embedding itself in American elections, media, academia, and institutions. America still has no serious legal tools to address citizenship for those who openly advocate replacing the Constitution with Sharia or supporting the subordination of non-believers.Citizenship must not be an irreversible entitlement for those working to overthrow the constitutional order. Deportation of those advancing jihadi ideology is a national security necessity, not bigotry. The Michigan primary is a warning. Americans must wake up before the window closes. In Israel we face the same enemy with clearer eyes. America still has time, but only if it stops denying the threat.Am Yisrael Chai!Join Our Whatsapp Channel: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GkavRznXy731nxxRyptCMvFollow us on Twitter: https://x.com/AviAbelowJoin our Telegram Channel: https://t.me/aviabelowpulseFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pulse_of_israel/?hl=enPulse of Israel on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IsraelVideoNetworkVisit Our Website - https://pulseofisrael.com/Donate to Pulse of Israel: https://pulseofisrael.com/boost-this-video/

ICE raids often make headlines. But what happens after an arrest receives far less attention. In this episode, LA Public Press reporter Martín Macías, Jr. takes listeners inside what advocates describe as the "hidden" side of the deportation system: immigration courtrooms, where volunteer observers say due process is increasingly difficult to access and deportation cases are moving at an accelerated pace. The conversation explores the recruitment of new immigration judges, conditions inside Southern California detention facilities, hunger strikes over alleged mistreatment, and what election officials are doing to prepare amid concerns that federal immigration enforcement could have a chilling effect on voters during the 2026 midterms. Martín Macías, Jr. also discusses why ICE has become less visible in national headlines—even as arrests continue—and what that shift may mean for the future of immigration enforcement. What happens when a violent repeat offender is repeatedly released instead of deported? On this episode of The Tudor Dixon Podcast, Tudor speaks with Eileen Leahy, whose daughter—a New York emergency room physician—was allegedly assaulted twice by the same undocumented immigrant despite multiple arrests and an existing order of protection. Leahy details her family's years-long fight for justice, alleging that prosecutors declined to pursue charges because of concerns about the suspect's immigration status. The conversation explores sanctuary city policies, ICE enforcement, repeat violent offenders, judicial accountability, and the impact these cases have on healthcare workers and public safety. Tudor and Eileen also discuss high-profile crimes involving undocumented immigrants, the role of immigration enforcement, and the broader national debate over border security, crime, and protecting American communities. If you're following the latest discussions surrounding illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, ICE, public safety, and criminal justice reform, this is an episode you won't want to miss.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week’s episode of the Prison Pulpit begins with a deep dive into an article written by a Chinese pastor about his experiences answering two Chinese objections to Christianity: is it all about money? And is Christianity a foreign religion? He eventually boils down his response to one final thought: it's not whether Christ is Chinese, but that China belongs to Christ! Then we talk about praying for China, and I share a related story from my first visit (23 years ago) to Yanchi (Salt Lake) in north central China.
