There's no question that Padma Lakshmi has had a multifaceted career. After working as a model in Europe—walking in runways for designers like Gianni Versace and shooting with photographers like Helmut Newton—she went on to rack up a multitude of acting and hosting credits. Throughout her life and travels, she kept coming back to her love of food. In 2006, she stepped into the role of host on Top Chef, and in her 19 seasons on the competition show, she received four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Host and became an executive producer. But earlier this year, Lakshmi announced her exit from the show and her plan to embark on a new path. Today, she's focusing on her documentary series, Taste the Nation, where she travels to immigrant communities across the United States to learn about their food. Although this may sound bleak, from the right perspective, it is actually a source of hope. If left unresolved, the trauma in our past can often influence our decisions and behaviors in the present. In today's episode, we examine a couple of studies which linked weight gain in women to past trauma. Although the conclusion of these studies presented a correlational relationship between these two factors, I offer a theory that may also connect causation to the link between trauma and weight gain for the purpose of offering a potential solution. In today's episode I share with you an inside look of how I coached my student and client Allison Oswald to stop binging on sugar. Allison was like many others, when she was dealing with emotions or wanted to distract herself she would resort to sugar as her comfort. After 20 years of this life she realized she had to make a change. Through her search for an answer she stumbled upon my coaching program after hearing the testimonies of my other clients. After many failed attempts she decided to give it a shot. As she described in this episode, she quickly realized why her previous attempts of weight release were not successful. Through our coaching she was finally able to discover the key to living the life she truly desires, the life she is living now. My goal is to bring you hope with every episode to know that you truly can achieve the life you desire. Join me!Enjoy!
