Savage Lands – Press Conference One Year of Collaboration with Hellfest: A Look Back Alliance of the Trees: A Unique Coalition Between the Metal Community and Environmental NGOs to Defend Biodiversity An unexpected alliance between extreme music and environmental protection has emerged. The Francis Hallé Association, États Sauvages, Savage Lands, and Semeurs de Forêts are joining forces to launch the Alliance of the Trees— a collaborative movement designed to raise awareness and mobilize the metal community around forest and biodiversity conservation. As biodiversity collapses at an accelerating rate across the globe, four French environmental organizations are coming together to found the Alliance of the Trees, an unprecedented collective that merges ecological activism with cultural influence. At their side stands an unexpected yet natural ally: the Metal community, renowned for its solidarity, independence, and power to rally behind meaningful causes. The alliance brings together Savage Lands, États Sauvages, Semeurs de Forêts, and the Francis Hallé Association for Primary Forests. Reconnecting with the Living Through Emotion and Action Biodiversity is too often sidelined in environmental priorities. The Alliance of the Trees aims to change this by engaging a vibrant and committed cultural scene: the Metal community. Far from being marginal, this movement is one of the most unifying in Europe. It provides fertile ground for launching educational, restoration, and research projects focused on forests. The alliance's ambition is to mobilize the Metal community on a large scale through tangible initiatives called Metal Forests — environmental “passion projects” supported by one or more alliance members, selected for their impact, exemplary nature, and mobilizing power. Bringing Back Natural Sanctuaries Thanks to Savage Lands and Hellfest Thanks to the joint efforts of Savage Lands and Hellfest, new biodiversity areas have been or will soon be created. Sanctuaries are now protected across several regions: two hectares in Playa Negra (Costa Rica), three hectares in Reims, another three in Tours, and forty hectares in Vendée, in partnership with the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds). These lands are being returned to nature as long-term refuges for biodiversity. Heilung and More Join the Army of the Trees One slogan, one open license. In response to the collapse of life on Earth, the Army of the Trees introduces a unique approach: an open license and slogan available to any band that wants to join the fight for biodiversity. Each band is free to adopt the Army's visual, adapt it to their own aesthetic, and spread the message in their own way. There's no set amount to contribute — all funds raised go directly to protecting biodiversity. The principle is simple: let ideas flow, multiply allies, and amplify the voices of those fighting for what still remains. Heilung has joined the movement, and more bands are expected to follow this year. The Birth of Savage Lands' Youth Division Led by Soline Violin, a group of eight committed young people has launched the youth division of Savage Lands. This initiative marks a significant expansion of the movement, bringing a new generation of ecological activism to the forefront — full of fresh ideas, energy, and perspectives. He explains why - in his opinion - Hellfest is the best festival on earth and how the spirit of cooperation and collaboration is one that could well serve other festivals looking to improve. There's also pointers on how *not* to get over a virus, and why humans are not meant to use aluminium bins for diving practice. They also chat about when things go south in a band and someone has to go. Not only is it a hugely awkward situation, it can also lead to the end of friendships, or even lead to the breakdown of sibling relationships. Life is short, but hurt can run deep. Le Hellfest, c'est plus de 200 000 fans, 180 groupes, et une atmosphère unique qui fait vibrer la Loire-Atlantique au rythme des guitares saturées. Mais derrière le son, les cris et la fête, le réveil climatique gronde. L'édition 2024 a affiché un bilan carbone de 17 033 tonnes de CO₂, dont 75 % liés aux déplacements des festivaliers. Un chiffre qui fait tache dans un monde en quête de sobriété.Face à ces critiques, le Hellfest 2025 entame une mue verte. Ses organisateurs veulent faire du festival un laboratoire d'écologie appliquée, sans renoncer à l'énergie qui le caractérise. Concrètement, plusieurs initiatives ont été mises en place. D'abord, les festivaliers peuvent désormais estimer leur propre empreinte carbone et la compenser en finançant la plantation d'arbres. Le covoiturage est facilité via une plateforme dédiée, et le train à 5 euros est proposé dans toute la région. Exit le plastique à usage unique, remplacé par des matériaux compostables ou recyclables.Côté énergie, 20 % provient désormais de sources vertes, grâce à des groupes électrogènes à biocarburant et des panneaux solaires. Les déchets ne sont pas en reste : 72 % sont revalorisés, et les 160 tonnes de biodéchets sont transformées en compost pour l'agriculture. Sur le terrain social, le festival soutient des associations engagées, comme Savage Lands, une ONG métal au service de la biodiversité.Le Hellfest veut aller plus loin encore, en devenant un catalyseur de changement, en partenariat avec des experts du climat. Objectif : faire du site un exemple reproductible, et faire rimer musique extrême avec engagement environnemental. A midi, plusieurs régions ont dépassé les 35 °C et des pointes allant jusqu'à 39 °C sont attendues dans l'Ouest. Pas moins de seize départements sont maintenus en vigilance orange canicule.Cet épisode de fortes chaleurs intervient alors que de nombreuses manifestations sportives et culturelles sont organisées ces jours-ci : festivals, kermesses, fêtes des écoles, compétitions sportives. Entre les concerts en extérieur et foule massée dans les rues, la Fête de la musique, qui se tient ce soir, sera également un rendez-vous particulièrement à risque.Les autorités et organisateurs de événements sont contraints de prendre certaines mesures de précaution. A Clisson, en Loire-Atlantique, plus de 200 000 personnes sont attendues au célèbre festival de métal Hellfest jusqu'à demain. Et le thermomètre s'affole. Il pourrait même grimper jusqu'à 37 °C. Pour faire face à ces conditions extrêmes, des brumisateurs, des murs d'eau géants et des fontaines à eau ont été installées sur le site. Les gourdes vides seront aussi exceptionnellement autorisées à l'entrée.Le dérèglement climatique, que l'on perçoit en ce moment par une intense vague de chaleur, se manifeste également par la multiplication des inondations.La ville de Blendecques, dans le nord du Pas-de-Calais, près de Saint-Omer, a ainsi subit une série d'inondations en novembre 2023 et janvier 2024. Des sinistres très durs à encaisser pour les habitants. Un an après ces inondations, une impasse entière de la ville et sa quinzaine de maisons, vont être rasées pour laisser la place à un bassin de rétention d'eau. Si certains habitants avaient déjà pris la difficile décision de quitter les lieux, d'autres refusent de quitter leur domicile. Ce cas de déplacés climatiques sont amenés à se multiplier dans les années à venir. Et ces derniers doivent parfois batailler avec leurs assurances, qui souhaitent de moins en moins indemniser ce type de sinistre.Les épisodes de fortes chaleurs, comme celui que l'on observe actuellement favorise la survenue de pics de pollution atmosphérique. Ce phénomènes tue près de 40.000 personnes tous les ans en France.Afin d'améliorer la qualité de l'air, le dispositif des zones à faible émission (ZFE) avait été adopté sous Emmanuel Macron en 2019 dans la loi d'orientation sur les mobilités, avant d'être étendu en 2021. Or, l'Assemblée nationale a voté ce mardi 17 juin un texte qui prévoit la suppression des ZFE. Les Républicains et le Rassemblement national se sont prononcés main dans la main pour cette disparition. Reste désormais aux sénateurs et aux députés à se mettre d'accord, à voter à nouveau ce projet de loi et à passer sous les fourches caudines du Conseil constitutionnel.La macronie, elle, s'est profondément divisée en dépit des consignes de vote données par le président des députés Renaissance Gabriel Attal et d'Emmanuel Macron qui a expliqué "ne pas être content" de ce détricotage.Comment s'adapter pour tenir face aux vagues de chaleur ?
