Niklas speaks with Silicon Valley-based serial entrepreneur John Chisholm. Over the last 40 years, John has founded, grown, or sold four companies in Silicon Valley, including Decisive Technology, now part of Google; and CustomerSat, now part of FocusVision. Today, John is CEO of John Chisholm Ventures, a startup advisory and angel investment firm. He is the author of “Unleash Your Inner Company: 10 Steps to Discover, Launch, and Scale Your Ideal Business.”Niklas & John explore the thesis of entrepreneurship as a stranded technology. Technology can be stranded because it fails to attract sufficient investment to compete, such as automobiles propelled by steam as compared to internal combustion engines in the early 20th century; or by being superseded by other technologies, as fax has been replaced by email and messaging; or because of regulation, such as nuclear energy today. But technology can also be stranded because of excessive government regulation and red tape, such as nuclear energy. It could be argued that entrepreneurship is increasingly being stranded. Across the United States, entrepreneurship is on the decline. According to the Kauffmann Foundation, as a percentage of all businesses, new firms have dropped from 16% in 1977 to less than 8% in 2010. This includes all new businesses – sole proprietorships, retail stores, service providers, restaurants, consultants – not just high-tech. High-tech businesses have become much easier to do in many ways because of the increasing availability of digital tools and the internet. In this session with John Chisholm, we'll see how it is a combination of factors, both external & regulatory, on the one hand, and internal & psychological on the other, that are holding back entrepreneurs today. And we'll talk about the implications and what we should do about it. John gives a set of recommendations for aspiring entrepreneurs on how to discover, launch and scale your business. John also provides keen insight and recommendations on how to improve the regulatory state, such as localism, sunset clauses, and special economic zones.Niklas on Twitter: https://twitter.com/NiklasAnzingerInfinita Fund Website: https://infinitafund.com/Discord: https://discord.gg/Z4H6UjbubK

How Should a Law Firm Approach Pricing Strategy with John Chisholm

John Chisholm was a US lawyer. For 15 years, he's been in law firms, using value-based pricing, and now subscription pricing. John swims in the ocean every morning with his Speedo around his neck. Pricing for law firms or even major consultancy firms is not easy. Price your final client contracts too high, and you'll lose some of your most high-value clients. Price them too low, and you'll be forced to work too few staff to the bone to cut costs. In this episode, John shares how law firm should approach their pricing strategy.     Why you have to check out today's podcast: Discover how to create a pricing revenue model that funds a thriving firm while generating real value for clients Learn how to make your law firm and consultancy clients understand the value of your service and the risks they are avoiding by hiring you compared to your competitors by communicating the value you provide Discover why a pricing expert is essential to the profitability of any law firm   “Just don't price your own work.” – John Chisholm    Topics Covered: 01:06 – How John got into pricing: His late father's story in relation to legal service fees 03:06 – Doing timesheet free billing as a law firm in the 1970s to ‘80s 05:25 – The old law business model of billing by the hour 06:38 – How things led him to his aha moment in relation to the practice of pricing 10:37 – Changing the mindset around pricing: Possible or not? 15:48 – “The true indication of a really good professional is not so much the answers they give; it's the questions they ask” 19:24 – Having a value conversation around $500 vs. $270's worth 22:15 – John's pricing advice 23:31 – Pricing table topics: “Sunk costs don't matter to pricing or any business decision”   Key Takeaways: “Now it's very, very ingrained – the whole profession, I'm afraid. There has been a lot of movement, but they've been mainly in smaller, innovative firms. But the large firms, despite what they say, when you peel back the onion, the measurements, their rewards, their whole internal systems still work around time, and it's hard to change, and they're very successful.” – John Chisholm “I know I'll get into trouble for saying this, but lawyers buying and selling to each other is not a great recipe for innovation or change or taking risk.” – John Chisholm “Those that perceive they have the most to lose will be the last to change, and that will be the big end of town worldwide.” – John Chisholm “I try and get the lawyers that I work with my clients to stop thinking like lawyers, because often, the solution is not a legal solution; it really isn't, or the objectives are not a legal solution. It may be that what we're going to do has legal input, and that's the skills that the lawyers have that someone else doesn't have. But it's turning the conversation on its head. It's asking the right questions. And I think the true indication of a really good professional is not so much the answers they give; it's the questions they ask.” – John Chisholm “I work more with my client lawyers focusing on what additional benefits can you give to clients, many of which don't cost anything to the law firm but add value to the client; the price just follows. I think also, if you can focus on increasing the client's profit, our profit will follow as a profession.” – John Chisholm “I think even though it might be for short term profitability, there's just so many good lawyers that just do underestimate the value that they're providing to their clients, and that's their fault, not their client's fault.” – John Chisholm   People / Resources Mentioned: Ron Baker: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ronbaker1/ VeraSage Institute: https://www.verasage.com/ John Chisholm Consulting: https://www.chisconsult.com/   Connect with John Chisholm: Email: john@chisconsult.com Website: https://www.chisconsult.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chisholmjohn/   Connect with Mark Stiving: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/ Email: mark@impactpricing.com

He has been a fisheries biologist with Massachusetts Marine Fisheries since 1987 and currently heads up the Massachusetts Shark Research Program (MSRP). He holds a master's degree from the University of Rhode Island and a PhD from Boston University.  Greg is a perfect example of someone having a dream and persisting to make it a reality. As a young boy, after the release of the movie Jaws in 1975, he aspired to become the well known fictitious marine biologist and shark scientist Matt Hooper...and that is exactly what happened. For more than 35 years Greg has been one of the most renowned marine biologists and shark scientists in the world.Greg has been actively involved in the study of life history, ecology, and physiology of sharks. His shark research has spanned multiple fish habitats around the globe; from the frigid waters of the Arctic Circle to coral reefs in the tropical Central Pacific. In recent years, Greg has become the face of all things shark-related on Cape Cod.  Skomal and his associate, John Chisholm, were the first to successfully tag and track great whites in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean using high-tech tags through the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. The organization now has the ability to track local and long-range movements, study behavior and biology, and estimate population size of great whites in the area. Since Greg began tagging white sharks in Cape Cod and MA, he and his crew have tagged over 280 white sharks. More Content Talk: News That Cuts Through the B******t

Tragedy has an odd way of breeding conspiracy. This occurs because the tragic elements of our lives set our imaginations aflame. You hear people say all the time that there must be a reason for things occurring and, often, this is true. However, people tend to romanticize the tragic a bit too much. While life is precious and it is certainly important, life's importance does not outweigh the importance of the truth because the entire basis of existence itself is, in fact, truth. So it is up to us to remain objective during desperate times. It is up to us to control our sometimes rabid and hallucinatory emotional states. I mean no disrespect to those who are victims of tragedy; I have endured my fair share indeed and so mocking such people would be nothing more than self-hatred. I am not attacking anyone. I am trying to instill within a sense of urgency about separating mythos from reality. We must always do this, no matter how much pain we suffer. We cannot be like people on social media, who theorize about non-existent race wars. One of the things I saw a lot of people online saying after the tragedy in Wisconsin is that Darrell Brooks, a lifetime criminal who appears to be severely mentally disturbed, committed his despicable act in order to incite a race war on white people. This argument, that all black people are seeking the violent overthrow of white American hegemony, appears constantly in the history of American tragedy. When Noah Green, who was studying to be a member of the far right Nation of Islam, murdered officer William Evans, online “experts” were quick to point the finger a Black Lives Matter, a leftist organization that argues for progressive policies. The rationalization for this is usually an obscure television interview where a member of Black Lives Matter refuses to condemn the Nation Of Islam's leader. The obscurity of this very irrational rationalization highlights the inherent prejudices of witch hunters and conspiracy theorists. There is no proof that Green's attack, tragic as it may be, was caused by the Nation Of Islam, Black Lives Matter or any other group. But people at the time were scared and so they developed fantasies to help them deal with their fears of a coming and comically mythical “race war”. If you look back in history you will find that, whenever a black man commits a crime, all black men are subsequently downgraded in status and meant with a cautious eye by white America. There were also conspiracy theories about defund the police causing this crime, but that has no basis in reality either. "In truth, there is no significant Defund-the-Police movement coming from Milwaukee. The concept of defunding the police is very unpopular, including among communities of color." But Tucker Carlson has blamed defund nonetheless. That is not to say that all white people engage in this prejudice, but it is childish to assume that a small or moderate number of people cannot have an effect on the narrative of a nation that was almost recently overthrown by a few thousand morons. There are also constant narratives about wars on Christmas floating around during this time of year. Many Christians believe that people are angry at them for simply existing, and constant imaginings of persecution fester in the heads of many of America's Christians. But, most of the time, these violent acts come about because of the negligence of the American justice system. I am not talking about the cops here, but the court system. An assistant district attorney simply failed to set the appropriate bail for Brooks. According to the county district attorney John Chisholm, "You had a young ADA trying to do the very best she could under difficult circumstances, and she made a mistake.” I am not saying that should settle the concerns of the community where this heinous act took place. I am just reporting the truth and the fact of the matter is that the truth is never satisfying, nor does it lead to simple solutions. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/morecontentplease/support

Horrific Waukesha Deaths Preventable Result of Ill-Considered Bail Policies Amy Swearer / @AmySwearer / Zack Smith / @tzsmith / Cully Stimson / @cullystimson / November 23, 2021         John Chisholm, pictured, the rogue Soros-backed prosecutor in Milwaukee County, released Darrell Brooks from custody when he should have sought no bail. On Nov. 21, Brooks drove his car through a Christmas parade, killing five adults and injuring more than 40 people, including children. (Photo: county/Milwaukee.gov) Commentary By Amy Swearer @AmySwearer Amy Swearer is a legal fellow in the Edwin Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation. Zack Smith @tzsmith Zack Smith is a legal fellow in the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation. Cully Stimson @cullystimson Charles “Cully” Stimson is a leading expert in national security, homeland security, crime control, immigration, and drug policy at The Heritage Foundation's Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. Read his research. After a summer of wildly destructive civil unrest followed by the looming shadow of the high-profile trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, residents of Wisconsin suffered another blow in the form of unspeakable tragedy. Five people were killed and more than 40 injured when a driver plowed through participants of an annual holiday parade, appearing to intentionally speed up and swerve into lines of marchers, before speeding off. Hours later, police arrested 39-year-old Darrell Brooks as the suspected driver of the vehicle. He is charged with five counts of homicide. Investigators are still looking into possible motives, including, according to some reports, the possibility that Brooks did not necessarily target the parade but was instead attempting to flee from a knife fight.   Whether the act was intentional or merely reckless and without regard to others, one thing is already clear—what happened in Waukesha was entirely preventable. Darrell Brooks should have been in jail several times over. The devastation he wrought happened only because grossly reckless bail policies touted by local officials enabled the release of an unrepentantly violent man whose actions routinely placed members of the community in serious danger. Brooks is a career criminal with a long rap sheet. His history of violence—including violence toward women—is well documented, and wide-ranging.   In 1999, Brooks pled guilty to felony battery with intent to cause bodily harm, and was sentenced to six months in jail and three years' probation. Over the next seven years, Brooks had a series of short stints in jail for various drug and obstruction charges. In 2006, he was convicted of felony statutory sexual seduction for impregnating a 15-year-old girl. Brooks was 24 years old at the time. He was sentenced to probation and required to register as a sex offender. In 2010, Brooks pled no contest to felony strangulation and suffocation charges, as well as to violating the terms of his probation. He was sentenced to 11 months in jail and three more years of probation. Brooks spent much of 2011 and 2012 in jail, serving two separate 180-day sentences for charges of drug possession and bail jumping, and a 37-day sentence for misdemeanor resisting arrest. In 2016, Brooks was arrested and charged with failing to obey Nevada's sex offender registration laws. He posted bail, then fled the state and never returned to court. He still has an active warrant out for his arrest in Nevada. In July 2020, Brooks was again arrested after allegedly getting into a fist fight with his nephew over a cellphone and then firing a gun at the nephew's car as the nephew drove away. Arresting officers found Brooks still in possession of the firearm as well as a small amount of meth. He was charged with a slew of serious felonies, including possession a firearm as firearm and two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering public safety with the use of a firearm. Brooks' bond was initially set at $10,000 but was quickly lowered to $7,500. He remained in custody until his Feb. 9 trial was postponed. His attorney then successfully argued for Brooks' bail to be dropped even lower, and on Feb. 21, Brooks posted $500 bond and was released. On Nov. 5, with his 2020 charges still pending, Brooks was again arrested and charged with several serious felony offenses after a woman—reportedly the mother of Brooks' children—told police that he purposefully ran her over with a vehicle after an argument. According to reports, the vehicular assault left tire marks on the woman's pants and injured her so severely that she was hospitalized. Incredibly, despite two decades of violent behavior, an open felony warrant in Nevada, routine failures to abide by his probation or bond conditions, and an active case involving the violent use of a weapon, Brooks was allowed to post $1,000 cash bail. By Nov. 11, he was back in the community. When all relevant information comes to light about possible motive or premeditation, it seems incredible that no one could have reasonably foreseen that Brooks would commit this specific type of violence and leave this amount of carnage in his wake. Brooks' propensity for violence and his lifetime spent disregarding the safety of others made a violent tragedy anything but unforeseeable. It also could have been foreseen that this kind of tragedy would inevitably occur as a result of the well-intentioned but ill-thought-out and poorly executed bail reform policies that progressives are putting into effect across the country. In fact, John Chisholm, the rogue George Soros-backed prosecutor in Milwaukee County who released Brooks when he should have sought no bail, issued a prophetic statement in 2007. He said: “Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into [a] treatment program, who's going to go out and kill somebody? … You bet. Guaranteed. It's guaranteed to happen.” He went on to argue, though, that “does not invalidate the overall approach.” We disagree. And now that the dire consequences of these rogue prosecutors' policies are sparking public backlash, Chisholm has called for an investigation into Brooks' “inappropriately low” bond. Unfortunately, this is emblematic of the rogue prosecutor movement more generally. They take a criminal-first, victim-last, passing-the-blame approach. And while the consequences here were undoubtedly tragic, it's far from the only example of rogue prosecutors' lax bond policies wreaking havoc on their communities. In Philadelphia, for example, rogue District Attorney Larry Krasner's policies led to the murder of Philadelphia Police Cpl. James O'Connor by an individual whom Krasner released through his lenient policies. Former U.S. Attorney Bill McSwain said, “The murder was the direct result of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner's pro-violent defendant policies.” In Chicago, police have pointed to the “skyrocketing use of electronic monitoring as a key factor in the city's shocking 50% rise in killings” last year. And no wonder. In Kim Foxx's Chicago, there are apparently no consequences for violating bail terms. According to the Chicago Tribune, “About 400 people are charged every year with felony escape. During [her predecessor's] last three years in office, she dropped a total of 55 such cases, compared with 420 for Foxx.” And then there's San Francisco's Chesa Boudin. As two of us (Cully and Zack) have previously written, “Since taking office, Boudin has also been criticized for releasing suspects with long criminal records who have gone on—surprise, surprise—to commit other crimes.” The events in Wisconsin were tragic. But the nightmare was a completely avoidable consequence of a criminal justice system run by Soros' rogue prosecutors. Have an opinion about this article? [00:30] Media Covering for Darrell Brooks (25 minutes)The left-wing media has been diligent about characterizing the Waukesha massacre in a way that's favorable to its agenda. Instead of calling it an "attack," networks have been calling it a “crash,” indicating it was an accident. Compare that to the Charlottesville attack from 2017 when the left-wing media characterized the incident as a “white supremacist attack” on the crowd. Facebook and Twitter have even rushed to erase Black Lives Matter-supporting posts from Brooks's accounts, which included posts endorsing Adolf Hitler and calls to "knock out" white people. [25:40] Releasing All Criminals (18 minutes)John Chisholm is the Wisconsin district attorney who is ultimately responsible for the $1,000 bail that allowed violent criminal Darrell Brooks to go free last week. Chisholm admitted in 2007 that his lenient approach to criminal justice would probably result in people being killed, but that was a small price to pay and shouldn't undermine the overall goal. Justice “reform” prosectors across the United States have announced that they are going soft on crime. The results are appalling. From San Francisco to New York City, residents, and even members of the media like Joe Scarborough, are complaining about the lawlessness in America's cities. [43:00] The Great Paradox of Knowledge (14 minutes)Why can't the same people who send men to the moon and back also bring peace and stability to the world, or even a single nation? With such an explosion of material knowledge, it would seem that our countries should be getting more and more peaceful and prosperous. But crime rates continue to soar, and evil men and seducers, as the Apostle Paul wrote, “wax worse and worse.” As Revelation 12:9 explains, Satan has deceived the whole world and has blinded mankind to what would solve every human problem on our planet—the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

John Chisholm: The Tools and Techniques for Success in the Entrepreneurial Process

John Chisholm is the author of Unleash Your Inner Company: Use Passion And Perseverance To Build Your Ideal Business. Entrepreneurship is a process. Taking this view enables successful navigation over time, whatever the interim ups and downs. Sometimes the process can feel like stumbling through a jungle, tripping over rocks and vines, always picking yourself up again and marching onwards. Don't expect the process map you start with to be the one you continue with. Don't plan too far ahead. Do be adaptive. Nonetheless, the process view is a source of support during the journey. Key Takeaways and Actionable Insights Processes require operating tools. John Chisholm's toolset starts at Need and Advantage. “All you need is a Need and Advantage.” Need = "A real, unsatisfied customer need in an area about which you are passionate." He defines Need in an Austrian way: a subjective value sought or anticipated by a customer. He defines Customer as a living breathing person (or group of people, as with a corporate customer) rather than an abstract “market need”. Unsatisfied means that the need is not addressed by currently available products and services (requiring the entrepreneur to understand customer dissatisfaction). And Real means shared by a sufficient number of customers or sufficiently intense in one or more customers to make it worthy of you to satisfy. The entrepreneur must have an advantage for satisfying that need. John's process is aimed at establishing and extending that advantage, in spite of the fact that existing businesses will have more and better resources than you. John offers a 10-step process for entrepreneurs to follow. You'll find John's process pretty complete, cogent, and consistent with Austrianism. We didn't cover every step of the process in the podcast, but we did pick out two tools and one principle. Make a STARS inventory of your resources and strengths and turn them to your advantage. John recommends making and continuously updating an inventory of your individual strengths. The STARS acronym stands for Skills, Technologies that you know and can use, Assets and Achievements, Relationships and Reputation, and Inner Strengths. He has wise advice on each one of these subjects, and he suggests multiple uses for the completed STARS inventory: Use it to assess the fit of your strengths with the customer needs you have identified.Use it to identify strengths gaps you'll need to fill.Use it to build your own self-confidence (most people under-estimate their own strengths).Use it to innovate by making new combinations by pairing STARS elements in new ways. We provide a template with directional examples a Mises.orgE4E_47_PDF1. Map out a logical and sequential growth path with John's “bowling pins” methodology. John's advice is to avoid tackling too large a market and too large a target customer group at the outset. Focus on a best fit intersection between your resources and customer needs. Label it. Then identify the next most logical adjacent customer need you can fill, ideally leveraging your learning from the first market. Keep on building up the map of adjacent needs to fill. When you've got to 10, think of them as bowling pins. Knock them down one by one, starting with the first — that's your early focus — and ultimately completing them all. That's your vision — the largest set of customer needs you can possibly fill. John calls this process Upsizing A Customer Need, and notes that this bowling pin strategy is particularly persuasive to venture capitalists — they like it that you are focused, and also that you have a map to growth. We reproduce John's bowling pin map at Mises.org/E4E_47_PDF2. Make the most of limited resources: Different is better than better. How do you overcome the fact that existing businesses in a market you are trying to enter have greater resources than you? John's answer: focus on being different rather than better. If you can identify how to be different — with a different solution, for a different target audience (even if it is small to begin with) you'll evade competition. John has additional advice about scalability, network effects, partnering and other tools for growth. Listen to the complete podcast for a rich reward of process tools and methods. The love/hate relationship with the billable hour remains as topical as it is controversial in legal practice today. It's been an integral part of how lawyers have valued their services for a while now but, we're in different times so, does that mean we need to think differently too about what and how we value what lawyers do? The billable hour has also served, within law firms (and legal departments), as a proxy for things like productivity, utilization, performance, compensation, rewards and promotion. And, that probably needs to be reviewed too. For example, can you really measure a person's contribution to legacy building and employee retention through coaching and mentoring; or continuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness through innovation and creativity; or client relationship building, satisfaction and retention…by the hour? We spoke with John Chisholm, Liz Harris and David Wells from the Innovim Group about all this and more. These folks are Australia's leading legal services pricing gurus and, they also know a thing or two about running a successful legal business. Topics covered in our conversation included: The difference between billing, pricing and value pricing? The whole billable hour thing – the pros, cons and everything in between. The alternatives to using the billable hour: For calculating “fix a fees;” For measuring productivity; and Tracking where people spend time. Why lawyers struggle with letting go of the billable hour. Want happens if the client wants you to bill by the hour. Should lawyers price their own work? If a legal business can change from billing time to value pricing without changing the business model. Whether or not there is a link between legal innovation and not selling time by the hour. And, a little crystal ball gazing about how lawyers in private practice will be measuring their revenue in the near future. Thank you so much John, Liz and David – we so appreciated your time – non-billable, of course! This week’s podcast features two guests, both from Acadian Asset Management, Churchill Franklin and John Chisholm. Join us as we discuss what Cognitive Diversity is, why it is important, why companies find it challenging to implement and where the future of finance is going. Churchill Franklin is the CEO of Acadian Asset Management and John Chisholm is the Chief Investment Officer at Acadian. Acadian is an institutional asset manager, managing roughly 75 billion for investors. They invest in equities all around the world, both in the US and developed markets, as well as emerging markets. Acadian follows a very quantitative approach towards investments. They build models that help predict returns and invest in those securities in which are believed will likely generate the best returns, to build the best portfolios. The culture is one of listening – to both clients and colleagues in trying to be proactive in responding to the market place. Acadian employs 320 people with a main office in Boston and additional sites in London, Sydney, Singapore and Tokyo.  Found are investment, marketing and operation professionals. They come from a variety of backgrounds such as finance, science and math and often there is a benefit to have traditional investment backgrounds - but not always necessary. Both Churchill and John come from diverse backgrounds.  John went to MIT and started in aerospace engineering. After going back to business school, he joined up with Churchill to launch Acadian in the mid 80’s and runs the investment side of the firm.  Churchill leads the culture and leadership. He started with a degree in American literature from Middlebury College, was a commercial banker for a while, became a treasurer in a company and then moved to start Acadian. Churchill and John are examples of implementing Cognitive Diversity. They deeply believe that the more perspectives around the table the better for their business and ultimately for their clients. The diversity is demonstrated by having a variety of backgrounds, personalities and individual perspectives that bring various points of view to discussions. Research has shown that having groups with diverse thinking styles will generally perform better than having a homogenous group.  This is true for mixed gender groups as well – research has shown they perform better, as well. With a more diverse group, discussions can test a variety of theories with other points of view. These different perspectives bring different ways of problem solving – there may be those that use intuition, some may test out ideas, others may use some type of rigorous, theoretical frameworks to find a solution. Each of these can contribute the thought diversity that is needed to find the best answer to a problem. Acadian uses a variety of methods to find those employees that are a best fit for their firm. Depending upon the role they are seeking to fill, they may probe a candidate’s thinking processes with questions such as…how much water would it take to fill up an office? The answer is not the critical aspect here; rather it is the thought process that the interviewee took to get there. The different thought processes might include the fairly common way to go about it – the logical chain of answers. It might also include where one starts at a high level and breaks the problem into pieces or an experimental approach. Each of these may be a valid response and depending on the position being filled may work. Cognitive Diversity is often a challenge to achieve. It is ‘easier’ to hire people that think alike, laugh at the same jokes and so on. One way to avoid this is to ensure that you have interview teams made up of diverse thinkers. This will help to avoid getting pigeon-holed into a particular style. When asked how the world of finance has changed in the last decade, Churchill and John noted the huge growth in the availability of data as well as the tools that allow the data to be understood. This has led to a critical demand in the use of a quantitative approach.  There is a wide range of interesting and perhaps, unusual types of data available. For instance, the use of satellite data is relatively new. This may include looking at the directions or activity of shipping containers in a particular region.  It may also include the brightness of lighting in certain areas. This can assist in forecasting. One future trend in the finance world is understanding how the role of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing can be profitable.  These ‘socially conscious’ investments previously needed to have reduced return expectations on investments but it seems that Europe and Australia are ahead on this aspect and there will be more to come on this subject. What you will learn in this episode: What is Cognitive Diversity? What role can Cognitive Diversity play in moving your organization further? Interesting future trends in the world of finance Predictions of the role of the use of ‘cash’ Stories of how Acadian implements Cognitive Diversity How the world of finance has changed over the past few decades the role of technology in the world of finance Churchill and John’s thoughts on whether to use a robo-adviser or a human advisor for personal funds
