ChatFlix has finally gone Psycho (1960). Folling Dial M For Murder (Episode 126) and Rear Window (Episode 154), Alfred Hitchcock would light up cinemas once again with a whole other kind of movie going experience and further cement his role in popular culture. This week Sam begins a deep dive into Larry Niven's epic sci-fi work Ringworld. Join Danielle as Sam guides her through the amazing journey of Louis Wu, a two-hundred-year-old space adventurer dating the twenty-year-old great-great-granddaughter of an old flame. After delving into some alien sexual practices (which all these classic sci-fi books seem to feel the need to do) Luis, his girlfriend, and two aliens set off to explore a mysterious, massive ring found orbiting a distant star. However, before all that, the book first needs to explain, in great detail, how everything else in the universe works. And boy, is there a lot to cover: eight-foot warrior cat creatures, humans breeding for luck, an alien race of cowards, and gladiatorial battles for reproductive rights. Will Danielle be able to follow all the nonsense Sam is spouting? Probably not, but hopefully you can.
Pam had a big corporate life with all the trimmings. And a big fear of running out of money that was driving her to do more and more. Join Danielle as she meets with Pam in her new home in France to hear what happened. (Filmed prior to the global pandemic so no social distancing required!)

One of every mama's biggest fears is a life-altering medical diagnosis for their child.Kristin Roth details her journey from woozy with wounds to fierce mama bear. Both of her sons have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and she was trained by firehouse with the high stakes protocol to keep their levels regulated."You are essentially trying to be a human pancreas with the tools of a blood sugar meter, syringes and 2 vials of different types of insulin. The pancreas does not "sleep" so you can't either...well, at least not straight through the night. The pressure, lack of sleep and the fact that those first few months are some of the most difficult to manage are a recipe for extreme anxiety, overwhelm, and depression. Like many situations, you may feel very supported right after the diagnosis, but as the weeks and months go on, the support and encouragement fade.""Now I look back and I realize I was trying to control my sons more than I was trying to control the disease."For any mama sacrificing and serving the unique needs of their child, I hope you heed Kristin's advice. For any families experiencing a new diagnosis of diabetes in their family, connect with Kristin!Kristin Roth is the founder and head coach of T1D Caregiver Kickstart, an online coaching program for parents of newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetic children. Headphones on, friends. We're getting real (and sweary). Brace yourself for the belly laughs you need right now.Arianna Bradford felt like she was failing motherhood so much she created the Not Your Average Mom Project and wrote a book about it that fights back. She believes......being human is not a reason to be ashamed. ...we can't be good at something we've never done before. ...there's no such thing as getting it ALL.DONE....mom guilt doesn't mean we've done something wrong....there's nothing special or magical about running yourself ragged....we're going to screw up our kids. Our nation is on fire. People are hurting. Let's talk about it.Rachel Tran is a biracial mama of 4, homeschooling pro, patron saint of baby-wearing, and fierce advocate for her kids. She breezes through the stories of how 3 of her kids have had life-threatening medical diagnoses and how each of those whirlwinds have made her into the mama she is today. While she could likely teach us a lot of things, today she's sharing what she feels is her biggest FAIL to date - not having had a conversation with her kids about race. She's so humble & speaks from her heart as she shares the question her child asked this weekend that broke her heart, "But what color is MY skin, mom?" To be (progressive) or not to be (progressive)... This is the plight of the Democratic Party. As they near the highly anticipated Iowa Caucuses, the nation is watching to see which direction the Democrats will go in: will they follow a Progressive Sanders/Warren path or will they play it safe with moderates like Klobuchar and Biden? The New York Times didn't make the decision any easier when they released their formal endorsement in favor of two candidates: Senators Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar. In refusing to decide between progressive and moderate, the outlet has made it even clearer that the Americans have to decide this for themselves. And apparently they also have to decide if a woman can even be president. On the CNN debate stage Sen. Warren accused Sen. Sanders of telling her a woman can't be president, but did he really? Join Danielle and Kaylene as they dissect all that and more on this episode of Idiot Soup. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/anjali-pellegrin/message
This week President Trump chastised teenage activist Greta Thunberg for not "chilling out" and "watching a movie." Chilling out, it seems, is a great alternative for Global Warming. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of legislation helping out with that. On paper, Holly Ransom has a life we all look at with awe. In her early 20s, she was invited by the Australian PM to Chair the G20 Youth Summit and then life began to accelerate. She has delivered a Peace Charter to the Dalai Lama, interviewed Barack Obama on stage, was Sir Richard Branson’s nominee for Wired Magazine’s ‘Smart List’ of Future Game Changers to watch in 2017 and was awarded the US Embassy’s Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Leadership Excellence in 2019. This isn't even all of it. More recently, she won a Harvard Fulbright Scholarship and is taking two years to go deep into International Governance and policy. There's no doubt she's going to change the world. And she's only 29. Here's the thing though, we never get to hear Holly's story, because she's usually on the other side of the microphone. And wow, is it a good one. For ALL of us. Join Danielle, Co Founder of Remarkable Women as she asks Holly to share some of the workings of her own mind, including the story of why she never believed she would win the Harvard Scholarship and what she did to make it happen. The one great thing about Watergate is that it's the gift that keeps on giving. When we think we're done, we learn of a new scandal, a new plot, a new truth that is revealed. Watergate was the scandal that rocked the country, but to this day there is much that the country has never heard about. Join Danielle and special guest, Kiera, as they dive into one of the most interesting conspiracy theories in this nation's history: the murder of Dorothy Hunt. Dorothy Hunt was the wife of E. Howard Hunt, prominent CIA Officer who was one of the most involved operatives of Watergate. When Dorothy Hunt died on a Boeing 737 with $10,000 in $100 bills in her purse, the media paid little attention to her suspicious demise. “Traditionally, it was believed that the Saguaro [cactus] was a human being.” - Tina Andrew on the Saguaro’s cultural significance to the Tohono O’odham Nation Join Danielle and Park Ranger Tina Andrew on a journey into the native ancestry of Saguaro National Park. Tina Andrew is a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, hosts the podcast “Cultivating Indigenous Voices,” and serves as an ancestral park ranger who works to connect youth and the community to the native roots of Saguaro National Park. As both a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, a tribe native to the lands of Saguaro National Park, and as a park ranger serving for over five years, Tina Andrew offers a complex and unique perspective on the significance of the Saguaro National Park to different communities of people. She brings a deeply personal perspective into the cultural and ancestral significance of Saguaro alongside a keen awareness of the importance of exploration by both native and non-native people, especially youth. As we walk down this winding ancestral path, we discuss the beautiful blooms during the months of May through July, important traditions of the Tohono O’odham Nation, such as the Saguaro Fruit Harvest, and how Tina uses her unique position as both a tribe member and ancestral park ranger to help native youth connect with their ancestry. Listen closely as Tina shares how natives interacted with the land, discovered food in the rugged territory, and crafted medicine from Saguaro’s plant life. Learn how natives maintain some of these traditions, and how Tina works to engage younger generations with their ancestral traditions. In this episode, she shares her personal connection to the park’s’ great tribal history and her work to implement programs to keep the native culture thriving in Saguaro’s rich, shared spaces. Tips for your Travels: Pair the following tips with the sample itineraries from our recent family adventure to make the most of your Saguaro National Park visit: Always check the weather! Come during the summer for the biodiversity, but be wary of the heat! Allow for extended time to complete more challenging “elevation” hikes in Saguaro. Carry more water than you think you need! If traveling in the summer, map your hikes so you finish early - before 9am! - and save trips to visitors centers for midday when the temperatures climb Winter is an amazing time for backcountry camping November through April are the busiest months and parking is limited so consider coming later in the day and plan sunset hikes Leave your pets at home as encounters with wildlife can be deadly Loop drives offer great views with pull-offs for picnicking and trails for quick hikes The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a short drive from the park and features historic collections, live plants, and desert animals such as the javelina in a zoo-like setting Resources from the Show: Visit Saguaro National Park for more information. Do you ever feel like you’re constantly worrying about the next part of your life, but then you realize you’re smack dab in the middle of what you used to look forward to? Join Danielle and Ani as they have a lively conversation around the topic of gratitude in this week’s episode of the Big Money Stylist. In Big Money Stylist, we go over the following formula each month: Week #1: Power Week #2: Production Week #3: Profit Week #4: Protection In This Week’s Episode…..POWER Point #1: Recognize the Wins Danielle: If I could rewind to just three years ago and see me now, I’d be like, “Oh my God! I did it! I made it!” If you don’t stop to have gratitude for who you are or how far you’ve come, you will become a miserable, unhappy person. Inside of that energy, the ability to create and expand is severly diminished. QUESTION In this moment, what is one thing you’re grateful for? Point #2: Things Aren’t What They Seem The problem with social media is that most people tend to only post the highlight reel of their life, which gives a false impression of the way their life really is. Inside of that world, it is so easy to get triggered by what we see as we’re scrolling, which can easily throw us off our game.. QUESTION When is the last time you posted a scene that wasn’t from your highlight reel? What’s stopping you from doing that? Point #3: The Drama Club When people are on the prowl for drama, they don’t always realize they’re being sucked into it. It makes you wonder what else they could be doing with their time, and what amazing things could they be creating. Find something in your life that gives you purpose, something that isn’t drama-driven. Ultimately, drama doesn’t serve you or make you happy. And, it trickles down into every aspect of your life. QUESTION Are you queen of the drama club in your life? How is that really working out for you? Point #4: What Triggers You? Was it a bad day, or was it a bad two minutes that you stretched into a whole day? What are you paying attention to? What triggers you? What are you focusing your energy on? There was a time when Danielle was a slave to her workout routine, so much so that if she didn’t get her workout in for the day, she became Monster Mommy. QUESTION What are some of the things that trigger you and send you into the land of Monster Mommy? Point #5: Gratitude & Intentions Ani: Every morning when I wake up, I write down something in my journal that I’m grateful for. I also set an intention for the day. Sometimes my intention is creation, space, or freedom, while other times it’s just letting the day unfold as it will. Starting my morning like this always puts me in a good frame of mind. QUESTION What are the daily rituals and habits that set you up for your day? Quote of the Week: “We can’t rewrite history, so the time you invest THEN, matters now. It’s important to take moments where you have that quality time with others so that you can live a life where you feel like you're having moments that matter." –Danielle K White “I LOVE what you just said that social media isn’t free. You pay for everything in your life one way or another, and not necessarily with money. You pay for it with time and with energy, and that’s massive, which I don’t think most people realize.” –Anianne Rivera

Ken Sinclair’s Automated Buildings June Theme — Measured Variables: Health, Wellbeing, & Productivity. Automated Buildings’ Ken Sinclair’s June theme delivers well-explained reasons why we need to re-zero our IoT aim towards the bigger target area: “There is a “3-30-300” rule of thumb that organizations typically spend approximately $3 per square foot per year for utilities, $30 for rent, and $300 for payroll. While these figures are just archetypes, they are useful in providing an order of magnitude between the three areas of expenditure.” Seems simple enough. The growing contextualization within the space, allows for greater productivity within the space, and our driven effort to emphasize and realize greater energy savings, while not misguided, is only the tip of the value iceberg. EasyIO’s New FW 14 Controller and Product Road Map! EasyIO — Coming to a Building Near You! The product hits from EasyIO keep coming! Additionally, EasyIO will be releasing these new software features for 2016: Adapter Widgets, Dashboard, Support for Amazon Echo, and Support for Blynk (Android & IPhone). KMC Controls Training Class. On June 20-24, 2016 KMC Controls in New Paris, IN will hold a KMC Connect with TotalControl training class. The objective of this 5-day course is to provide instruction on the installation, integration, and operation of KMC Connect and TotalControl software. KMC Connect will provide configuration and operator workstation options for Building Automation Systems using KMC Conquest hardware (and earlier versions) in a BACnet environment. TotalControl provides an enterprise level connectivity and Internet accessible facility management resource for customers. Brad White, SES Consulting’s “The Trillion Dollar Opportunity in Transforming Existing Buildings.” The $3/$30/$300 sq ft rule was the predominant theme in the June, 2016 edition of Ken Sinclair’s Automated Buildings. Brad White, SES Consulting, offers yet another compelling economic case for directing more of our efforts to the $300 variable in the equation. A 5% improvement in productivity represents a tremendous savings, while making employees more comfortable and our buildings better. Truly, an emerging trend as IoT delivers more relevant contextualization into the Building Renaissance and the Smart, Connected, and Intelligent Building formula.
