Lawyer Paula Gerber onĀ the human rights of the most endangered group of people in any community - its children. They are open to the most predatory forms of exploitation simply because they don't have the worldliness of adults, and must rely on trust and goodwill.Ā When Paula Gerber was growing up in suburban Brisbane, she didn't spend her weekends at the pool or playing cricket with her dad.Quality time with her father meant visiting his clients with him in the local jail or mental institution. Her dad was a criminal lawyer, and Paula tagged along to many of his meetings watching him empathise with people, coming up with defences that worked, sometimes because his client were innocent, and sometimes because he knew the law like the back of his hand, and could do some creative arguing around technicalities.Paula wanted nothing else but to follow in the footsteps of her father. She began her career in construction law, but after a motorbike accident, she needed a change, and turned her thoughts to how to help more people with her law degree.Paula began to specialise in human rights, specifically the rights of children.Sex, Gender & Identity: Trans Rights in Australia is published by Monash University Publishing. This episode of Conversations was produced by Meggie Morris. In this episode, we dive into the extraordinary journey of an ordinary man who was thrust into the legal system and, through relentless struggle, uncovered the hidden machinery driving family courts, governments, and corporations. What began as a personal battle over divorce and child support revealed a multi-trillion-dollar industry built on negotiable instruments, exposing how the system profits off human lives. Through years of trial, error, and perseverance, Cal Washington discovered the ancient roots of Lex Mercatoria—the Law Merchant—and how commerce, not justice, underpins the courts we think serve us. From facing jail time to holding judges accountable, to creating notices of liability that caused officials and apparently even a royal to step down, his story is one of grit, awakening, and empowerment. This is an eye-opening conversation that challenges everything you thought you knew about law, power, and freedom.Time Stamps(00:00) Episode Teaser(00:27) Opening Conversation(04:29) Introducing Cal Washington(06:51) Cal Washington's Legal Journey(08:39) The Divorce Industry Exposed(14:36) Understanding the Legal System(17:18) The Power of Commerce in Law(21:39) Cal's Personal Legal Battles(27:15) The Role of Law Merchant(35:10) Courtroom Experiences and Strategies(44:24) The Impact of Legal Knowledge(48:14) Unexpected Arrest and Meeting a Lawyer(49:24) Legal Maneuvers and Promissory Note(51:30) Escalation and Government Response(55:11) Empower Movement and Smart Meters(58:55) Notices of Liability and Public Impact(01:03:21) Financial System and Wealth Transfer(01:10:47) Personal Compliance and Legal Strategies(01:19:54) Biblical Contracts and Legal Principles(01:23:39) Future Vision and System Reset(01:28:53) Practical Applications and Final ThoughtsGuest Linkshttps://www.inpowermovement.org/hereforthetruth ($50 discount available)Connect with UsJoin our membership Friends of the TruthSubscribe to Here for the Truth FridaysTake the Real AF Test NowDiscover Your Truth Seeker ArchetypeWatch all our episodesConnect with us on TelegramAccess all our links

In this episode, Laurence Joss speaks with Daniel Ryan, a UK attorney, about the challenges and realities of the court system, particularly in family law. They discuss the need for a fundamental change in how disputes are handled, the complexities of parental alienation, and the often negative outcomes of court proceedings. Daniel emphasizes the importance of understanding the court's limitations and the need for better resources and support for parents navigating these difficult situations. They also explore the role of children in court proceedings and envision a more inclusive and supportive family court system.Key TakeawaysThere needs to be a fundamental change in the court system.Nobody wins in court; everyone loses.Parental alienation is often misunderstood and mishandled in court. The court system is designed for conflict, not resolution.Children should be involved in the court process to minimize their impact.Judges often lack the psychological expertise needed for cases involving parental alienation. The current approach to parental alienation is overly simplistic.Mediation and counseling should be prioritized before court proceedings. The backlog in the court system exacerbates the issues faced by families.A more relaxed and inclusive court environment could benefit all parties involved.Chapters00:00 - The Need for Change in the Court System05:02 - Understanding the Reality of Court Proceedings09:41 - Parental Alienation: A Complex Issue15:03 - The Role of Children in Court Proceedings19:47 - Envisioning a Better Family Court SystemFor more detailed information, please click the link below:https://www.mckenziepicave.com/If you wish to connect with Lawrence Joss or any of the PA-A community members who have appeared as guests on the podcast:Email - familydisappeared@gmail.comLinktree: https://linktr.ee/lawrencejoss(All links mentioned in the podcast are available in Linktree)Please donate to support PAA programs:https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=SDLTX8TBSZNXSThis podcast is made possible by the Family Disappeared Team:Anna Johnson- Editor/Contributor/Activist/Co-hostGlaze Gonzales- Podcast ManagerConnect with Lawrence Joss:Website: https://parentalalienationanonymous.com/Email- familydisappeared@gmail.com

Episode #486: Sovereignty by Markets: How Futarchy Turns Bets into Decisions

In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, host Stewart Alsop speaks with Robin Hanson, economist and originator of the idea of futarchy, about how conditional betting markets might transform governance by tying decisions to measurable outcomes. Their conversation moves through examples of organizational incentives in business and government, the balance between elegant theories and messy implementation details, the role of AI in robust institutions, and the tension between complexity and simplicity in legal and political systems. Hanson highlights historical experiments with futarchy, reflects on polarization and collective behavior in times of peace versus crisis, and underscores how ossified bureaucracies mirror software rot. To learn more about his work, you can find Robin Hanson online simply by searching his name or his blog overcomingbias.com, where his interviews—including one with Jeffrey Wernick on early applications of futarchy—are available.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:05 Hanson explains futarchy as conditional betting markets that tie governance to measurable outcome metrics, contrasting elegant ideas with messy implementation details.00:10 He describes early experiments, including Jeffrey Wernick's company in the 1980s, and more recent trials in crypto and an India-based agency.00:15 The conversation shifts to how companies use stock prices as feedback, comparing public firms tied to speculators with private equity and long-term incentives.00:20 Alsop connects futarchy to corporate governance and history, while Hanson explains how futarchy can act as a veto system against executive self-interest.00:25 They discuss conditional political markets in elections, AI participation in institutions, and why proof of human is unnecessary for robust systems.00:30 Hanson reflects on simplicity versus complexity in democracy and legal systems, noting how futarchy faces similar design trade-offs.00:35 He introduces veto markets and outcome metrics, adding nuance to how futarchy could constrain executives while allowing discretion.00:40 The focus turns to implementation in organizations, outcome-based OKRs, and trade-offs between openness, liquidity, and transparency.00:45 They explore DAOs, crypto governance, and the need for focus, then compare news-driven attention with deeper institutional design.00:50 Hanson contrasts novelty with timelessness in academia and policy, explaining how futarchy could break the pattern of weak governance.00:55 The discussion closes on bureaucratic inertia, software rot, and how government ossifies compared to adaptive private organizations.Key InsightsFutarchy proposes that governance can be improved by tying decisions directly to measurable outcome metrics, using conditional betting markets to reveal which policies are expected to achieve agreed goals. This turns speculation into structured decision advice, offering a way to make institutions more competent and accountable.Early experiments with futarchy existed decades ago, including Jeffrey Wernick's 1980s company that made hiring and product decisions using prediction markets, as well as more recent trials in crypto-based DAOs and a quiet adoption by a government agency in India. These examples show that the idea, while radical, is not just theoretical.A central problem in governance is the tension between elegant ideas and messy implementation. Hanson emphasizes that while the core concept of futarchy is simple, real-world use requires addressing veto powers, executive discretion, and complex outcome metrics. The evolution of institutions involves finding workable compromises without losing the simplicity of the original vision. The conversation highlights how existing governance in corporations mirrors these challenges. Public firms rely heavily on speculators and short-term stock incentives, while private equity benefits from long-term executive stakes. Futarchy could offer companies a new tool, giving executives market-based feedback on major decisions before they act.Institutions must be robust not just to human diversity but also to AI participation. Hanson argues that markets, unlike one-person-one-vote systems, can accommodate AI traders without needing proof of human identity. Designing systems to be indifferent to whether participants are human or machine strengthens long-term resilience.Complexity versus simplicity emerges as a theme, with Hanson noting that democracy and legal systems began with simple structures but accreted layers of rules that now demand lawyers to navigate. Futarchy faces the same trade-off: it starts simple, but real implementation requires added detail, and the balance between elegance and robustness becomes crucial. Finally, the episode situates futarchy within broader social trends. Hanson connects rising polarization and inequality to times of peace and prosperity, contrasting this with the unifying effect of external threats. He also critiques bureaucratic inertia and ā€œsoftware rotā€ in government, arguing that without innovation in governance, even advanced societies risk ossification.

Reporting a sexual assault is deeply challenging in any context, so what happens when you’re in a war-torn region, where infrastructure has crumbled, and justice systems are non-existent? Associate Professor David Wells retired as Victoria's top forensic physician in 2013. Since then, his work has taken him to some of the world's most volatile places, including Gaza, the West Bank, and other corners of the globe where conflict has gutted hospitals and justice systems alike. There, he's helped build systems to support survivors of sexual violence, often under near impossible conditions. In this episode, David takes us to the front lines of forensic medicine in a conflict zone, and reflects on the challenge of treating survivors where hospitals barely exist, and navigating the cultural, legal and ethical landmines that surround violence in war. What does it take to offer care when the world is falling apart? And what role can forensic medicine play, not just in accountability, but in healing? ChatGPT has been invading all walks of life in recent months, and that even includes the justice system. In late March 2023, a Pakistani judge consulted the chatbot before granting bail to a 13 year old boy who stood accused of kidnapping and attempting to rape a 9 year old. According to Pakistan Observer, the judge asked ChatGPT the following initial question: ā€œā€œCan a juvenile suspect in Pakistan, who is 13 years old, be granted bail after arrest?ā€ The chatbot responded: ā€œUnder the Juvenile Justice System Act 2018, according to section 12, the court can grant bail on certain conditions.ā€ A discussion then ensued on how this option could be interpreted when taking into account certain other laws. The judge included ChatGPT's responses in his judgement and stated how impressed he was. The cases have led to hope that AI could help make legal systems around the world more efficient, but there's been a lot of criticism and skepticism too. Navigating the legal maze of child support and custody can feel impossible... especially when the system seems stacked against you. Picasso Cognizance learned this the hard way when his partner's family took his son away from him at the age of two. Picasso spent the next nearly two decades paying child support, immersing himself in the world of parental rights, and being ping-ponged between agencies who made no effort to help him. Picasso opens up about the emotional and legal challenges he faced when trying to regain access to his son, and shares why he started Resolute Fathers, an organization dedicated to educating other parents about how to navigate these flawed systems.Topics include:Challenges of Child Support and Custody: Picasso Cognizance shares his personal experience navigating the legal and emotional difficulties of losing custody and paying child support. The Importance of Knowing Parental Rights: Emphasis is placed on the need for parents to understand their rights, state laws, and how the system works in order to protect themselves and their relationship with their children.Emotional Toll and Resilience: The conversation highlights the emotional hardships, feelings of frustration, and the need for perseverance and hope when facing a complex family court system.Advocacy and Support: Picasso discusses his work with Resolute Fathers, aiming to educate and support parents (particularly fathers) going through similar struggles.Encouragement for Constructive Co-Parenting: The value of cooperative co-parenting without unnecessary legal intervention is underscored as a path to healthier family dynamics.Ā After the interview, Marc shares a tender (and hilarious) story of a 7 year old with big feelings.Ā LINKSResolute Fathers (Instagram)Who's The Daddy? Send us fan responses! Ever wondered why some people never seem to win in court despite having strong cases? The answer lies in a hidden system of securitization that affects every aspect of our legal process—a system that Don Kilam fearlessly exposes in this eye-opening episode. From a luxurious LA penthouse with sweeping city views, Kilam pulls back the curtain on how courts actually function as sophisticated debt collection operations. He meticulously breaks down the bond system used by courts, explaining how bid bonds, performance bonds, and payment bonds create the financial framework that turns defendants into commodities. "Every time you put your signature on a piece of paper, you are creating a negotiable instrument," Kilam reveals, highlighting how our signatures become valuable commercial paper that gets monetized without our knowledge.Perhaps most shocking is Kilam's explanation of the prison-industrial complex's true nature. When defendants go into default judgment by failing to respond correctly to charges (which are actually commercial terms), these judgments are sold to reinsurance companies and eventually converted into mortgage-backed securities traded on international markets. Companies like Corrections Corporation of America make millions by contracting with federal prisons, creating a profit incentive for incarceration that few understand. But this episode isn't just about exposing problems—it offers solutions. Kalam provides specific strategies for winning in court by understanding and using this commercial framework to your advantage. He outlines exactly which government forms to file, how to make conditional acceptances, and why requesting "full settlement and closure of the account" can be more effective than traditional legal arguments. "You're the principal and the owner of the account," he emphasizes. "Tell them what to do."Want to master these powerful techniques and reclaim your sovereignty? Text PRIVATELIFE to 702-200-4900 to join Don Kilam's school where he teaches these methods in detail, or visit skool.com/donkilam for comprehensive resources. In today's Cloud Wars Minute, I explore how Microsoft is helping Thailand modernize its legal system using AI and cloud technologies to support its bid for OECD membership.Highlights00:03 — Microsoft is helping to transform Thailand's legal system using AI and cloud technologies. The company is working closely with the Office of the Council of State. This effort is a critical part of the country's ambition to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, or OECD.00:30 — At the heart of this partnership is the TH2OECD initiative, an AI-powered legal comparison platform built on the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. This platform automatically translates and analyzes more than 70,000 Thai legislative documents and compares them with over 270 OECD legal instruments.01:06 — It's an interesting use case for AI. Here, it's demonstrating the technology's capabilities in action. And while it's common for companies to implement ambitious analysis and management programs for their internal purposes, doing so at a governmental scale is even more impressive. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is deploying a robust campaign to manipulate American society, media, and government, trying to turn U.S. institutions against CCP critics and even fellow Americans. For decades, the CCP has systematically infiltrated our political systems, businesses, and institutions to subvert America from within. The CCP's alarming new tactics focus on the manipulation of American media and legal systems, and constitute a test run for how Beijing can influence, or even dictate, what we can do and what we believe.

Pat and Stu in for Glenn. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed in the Senate yesterday and heads back to the House. How much government spending will be added to fund this bill, and how much will be cut? A part of the bill that is up for debate is something called ā€œTrump accounts,ā€ where the president plans to give $1,000 for each new baby born between now and 2028. Pat and Stu discuss the downside of what that would lead to, especially if illegal aliens are allowed to qualify for these accounts as well. A new poll shows that Democrats have a lower level of pride in their country than in 2001. But a further dive into the numbers show how much the change has occurred over the last decade. Is it because they were not ever truly proud to be American, or is it because of Trump derangement syndrome? Sean ā€œDiddyā€ Combs was found not guilty on three of the five charges, with guilty verdicts on two counts of bringing a prostitute across state lines.
