April Kauffman was described as part princess, part bulldog… She was beautiful, funny, charismatic, generous, incredibly philanthropic, and would stop at nothing to give back to the causes she believed in. One of the things she believed in most was helping Veterans. Her passion for helping Veterans is what drew her to Jim Kauffman, her third husband. But after 10 years of marriage, she wanted out. After finding out he lied about being a veteran and that he was running an illegal pill mill with a local motorcycle gang, April asked for a divorce. But rather than risk losing half of his net worth, Jim paid someone in that motorcycle gang to murder her. A violent war for control of illicit drugs and weapons leaves a deadly trail of bullets and blood across highways in the U.S. Southwest. It started eight years ago in a hail of gunfire between the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang and the Cossacks at the Twin Peaks Restaurant in Waco, Texas. The violence escalated starting in May of 2023 leaving dead bodies on an interstate highway in Texas, at a biker bar in Oklahoma City, and at a once peaceful bike rally in New Mexico. There's no sign of tempers and the rivalry cooling off anytime soon. The Bandidos stand to lose a lot and they are fighting to hold on to their turf. They are not Hollywood's romanticized version of the Sons of Anarchy. The Justice Department considers the Bandidos one of the eight most dangerous motorcycle gangs in the U.S. A gang threat assessment by the Texas Department of Public Safety ranked the Bandidos as a "Tier 2" gang — or the second-most dangerous classification — alongside the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas. It appears that local law enforcement is not prepared to intervene and in some quarters may even fear the Bandidos. According to the Bandidos legend, a 36-year-old Vietnam War veteran and Houston dockworker started the club in the 1960s.  It adopted the red and gold colors of the U.S. Marine Corps. They proudly wear the "patch" on their jackets and other apparel. Mess with one Bandido and you are in effect messing with all of them. Today we are chatting with the author of Riding With Evil: Taking Down The Notorious Pagan Motorcycle Gang and ATF Special Agent, Ken Croke. Over 25 years, he took part in more than a thousand undercover operations, including gang, drug, and firearms trafficking cases. Married with three young daughters, he was a supervisor who seemed to cruise to a quiet suburban retirement.But, when a tip about criminal motorcycle gangs came into the Boston ATF field office in 2008, the experienced Croke was brought in to check out sources and information. “Theft is the act of taking another person's property or services without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.[1][2][3] The word theft is also used as a synonym or informal shorthand term for some crimes against property, such as larceny, robbery,[1] embezzlement, extortion, blackmail, or receiving stolen property.[2] In some jurisdictions, theft is considered to be synonymous with larceny,[4][5] while in others, theft is defined more narrowly.[6] Someone who carries out an act of theft may be described as a "thief" (pl: thieves).[7]” “Burglary, also called breaking and entering (B&E)[1] and sometimes housebreaking,[2] is the act of illegally entering a building or other areas without permission, typically with the intention of committing a criminal offence. Usually that offence is theft, larceny, robbery, or murder, but most jurisdictions include others within the ambit of burglary. To commit burglary is to burgle,[3] a term back-formed from the word burglar, or to burglarize.[4][3]” I saw similar things: “The newest growth sectors for organized crime are identity theft and online extortion. These activities are troubling because they discourage consumers from using the Internet for e-commerce. E-commerce was supposed to level the playing ground between small and large businesses, but the growth of online organized crime is leading to the opposite effect; large businesses are able to afford more bandwidth (to resist denial-of-service attacks) and superior security. Furthermore, organized crime using the Internet is much harder to trace down for the police (even though they increasingly deploy cybercops) since most police forces and law enforcement agencies operate within a local or national jurisdiction while the Internet makes it easier for criminal organizations to operate across such boundaries without detection. In the past criminal organizations have naturally limited themselves by their need to expand, putting them in competition with each other. This competition, often leading to violence, uses valuable resources such as manpower (either killed or sent to prison), equipment and finances. In the United States, James "Whitey" Bulger, the Irish Mob boss of the Winter Hill Gang in Boston turned informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He used this position to eliminate competition and consolidate power within the city of Boston which led to the imprisonment of several senior organized crime figures including Gennaro Angiulo, underboss of the Patriarca crime family. Infighting sometimes occurs within an organization, such as the Castellamarese war of 1930–31 and the Boston Irish Mob Wars of the 1960s and 1970s. Today criminal organizations are increasingly working together, realizing that it is better to work in cooperation rather than in competition with each other (once again, consolidating power). This has led to the rise of global criminal organizations such as Mara Salvatrucha, 18th Street gang and Barrio Azteca. The American Mafia, in addition to having links with organized crime groups in Italy such as the Camorra, the 'Ndrangheta, Sacra Corona Unita and Sicilian Mafia, has at various times done business with the Irish Mob, Jewish-American organized crime, the Japanese Yakuza, Indian mafia, the Russian mafia, Thief in law and Post-Soviet Organized crime groups, the Chinese Triads, Chinese Tongs and Asian street gangs, Motorcycle Gangs and numerous White, Black and Hispanic prison and street gangs.
