Elwood and Stephen look at the second film in Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colours trilogy, Polish immigrant Karol Karol (Zbigniew Zamachowski) finds himself out of a marriage, a job and a country when his French wife, Dominique (Julie Delpy), divorces him after six months due to his impotence. Now smuggled back to his homeland Karol plot his revenge.
Vanity Project are proud to present the first in the forthcoming trilogy of THREE COLOURS: White. In their first ever multi-episode saga Vanity Project daringly go where the likes of Aristotle and an exploratory lone monkey have gone before: to the White Material that made you. It's an episode about semen, and the perfect recipe for how to increase your load. Through a textual and cultural analysis semen is the fulcrum for a new discourse on race, the cultivation of male sexuality, and the last funny movie, Bridesmaids. We brave The Colonial Cumshot, Images of Bliss, and Edmund White on Robert Maplethorpe. We ask, is cum kind of a gay guy thing? Where were you when Diddy threw the first White Party?
Elwood and Stephen look at the first film in Krzysztof Kieślowski Three Colours Trilogy as they start with Blue which focuses on Julie, the wife of a famous composer who is killed along with their daughter in a car crash leaving her to deal with the ghosts of his legacy as well as her own grief.
Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 73 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys discuss the next film in their Krzysztof Kieślowski series, Three Colours: White (1994). The next entry into Kieślowski trilogy might go down as one of the most surprising films the guys have covered so far, as this anti-comedy is a completed shift from the tone and ideas covered in Blue. Following a couple from two different countries playing a manipulative game of chess with one another over time, Kieślowski is able to use this duo as a personification of geo-political warfare and how smaller countries have to react and fight in order to relevant in the world. It makes for a fascinating examination of European ideals wrapped within a twist tale of love and country. Ryan and Jay break down their thoughts on the film, how the logic of it only makes sense from a non-literal perspective, shifting point of views throughout the film, the film's ending, if these two really do love each other, what they each like to put on a sandwich, and what a “dumpster Whopper” is. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. This podcast runs 1h16m. The guys will be back next week to continue their series on the films of Krzysztof Kieślowski with with a review of his film, Three Colours: Red. You can rent it via iTunes and Amazon Prime rental in preparation for the next episode of Director Watch. Till then, let's get into it. In this episode, we continue the conversation of Bridging Cultures for Safety, unveiling the 12 Dimensions of Culture that shape our worldviews and interactions. We kick off by revisiting the three primary worldviews: 1️⃣ Honour Shame 2️⃣ Innocence Guilt3️⃣ Power Fearwhich form the basis of our cultural preferences. Our upbringing, education, and life experiences deeply influence these drivers.Drawing an analogy to a kaleidoscope of colours, we explore how understanding these worldviews allows us to adjust our approach to better connect with people who see the world differently. The Three Colours of Worldview were discussed in Episode 059, which is a must-listen if you haven't already. Our journey continues as we address the complexities of teamwork, leadership, and working with diverse colleagues. We emphasise that being different doesn't necessarily mean being difficult but a matter of unique perspectives.Imagine a team with 15 nationalities among 120 members; it's not just about worldviews but 120 distinct personalities, adding depth to the conversation. Tools such as DiSC and e-Colours help us to navigate this complexity. We highlight the value of cultural agility, which extends beyond nationality, food preferences, or dressing styles, encompassing the three colours of worldview.Introducing the 12 Dimensions of Culture, we provide a glimpse into1- Growth2- Relationship3- Outlook4- Destiny5- Context6- Connecting7- Expression8- Decision-Making9- Planning10- Communication11- Accountability12- Status These dimensions offer insights into our perspectives on growth, relationships, and much more. This episode underscores that diversity isn't about uniformity but leveraging differences to achieve shared goals effectively. The 12 Dimensions of Culture help us navigate this diversity, fostering better communication and collaboration.Remember: These dimensions aren't fixed; people fall along spectrums, which calls for open, meaningful conversations and an appreciation of the richness diversity brings. If you're keen on exploring how to bridge cultures for safer operations and promote a culture of care, reach out to us at hello@safetycollaborations.com or visit our website. Since the early days of the church, Christians have recognized three distinct modes of martyrdom, each designated by a colour. However, few followers of Jesus today have even heard about this Biblically rooted tradition. Julliette Binoche deadpans. Sudden fade to black! Dum dum da dummmmm..! Repeat that about four more times and you have one of the most iconic pieces of 1990s European cinema. Does this formula hold up for two jaded cinephiles at the end of 2020? The first installment of Krzysztof Kieslowski's ambitious Three Colours Trilogy doesn't pull any punches with his breathless character study of a woman rediscovering human connection after an unthinkable tragedy. If you'd like to watch ahead for next week's film, we will be discussing and reviewing Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's The Small Back Room (1949).

The “Cinephile Cuties” are ready to give their castle to their spouse’s mistresses! That’s because they’re chatting about Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colours: Blue. Both Patrick and Casey self-identify as “Freak-lowskis,” which, of course, signifies that they are huge fans of the work of Krzysztof Kieślowski. They also admit they are both in love with the new Bachelorette, Tayshia Adams. In addition to that, they put Three Colours: Blue through their proprietary “Fartsy Test.” Patrick recommends a drink pairing. And they give each other notes to improve the show. Listen in to see if it’s working! If you like this show, tell a friend! Follow Farthouse on Twitter and InstagramFollow Patrick and Casey on TwitterAnd follow Patrick and Casey on Letterboxd.
Giles and Robbie are humbled to sit down and chat with the incredible tour de force that is Julie Delpy. Whilst many of us may know and love her from Richard Linklater’s the 'Before' series or her work with Kieslowski on the Three Colours trilogy, we also know her prolific directing career from her debut 'Looking for Jimmy' all the way up to her latest feature 'My Zoe'. Julie talks frankly about her personal philosophy about film-making, her love of sci-fi and her directing process from writing to production to post - including how she made a name for herself at NYU by turning other students garbage footage into masterpieces in the edit suite. We cover everything from collaborating with encouraging colleagues like Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater to navigating the nastier side of the film industry and dealing with industry sexism as a female actor making the route from acting to directing. Finally, we discuss the practical nature of film-making, and how you can stay true to your own vision whilst adding others’ ideas into the mix in the hire wire art of directing. CSPodcast.ir | Castbox | Apple Podcasts | Google Podcast | Overcast | RadioPublic | Stitcher | Telegram | Instagram

It is just Bianca and Robin on this kind of special edition podcast, all about the late, great Krzysztof Kieślowski. As our 10 Days of Krzysztof Kieślowski comes to an end, the two of us drift in and out of consciousness as we revel in the wonder of the Polish filmmaker's incredible film career. Robin has been a fan for as long as he can remember, whereas Bianca is fairly new to the director - having just watched the Three Colours trilogy for the very first time. Should make for enthralling conversation. Have a listen, subscribe to SoundCloud, iTunes, and Stitcher, and feel free to leave your comments and ratings.
Quick: name an Oscar-winning actress who’s worked with both Godard AND Godzilla. THERE IS ONLY ONE. Having been on international screens for three decades, Juliette Binoche has matured more gracefully than a vintage Bourdeaux, acquired more ripe notes than a cave-aged Gruyère. Take a look at the whole career from the dewy, sexualized ingénue of DAMAGE to the earthy middle-aged diva of SILS MARIA, and it is clear: JB is the Actress of Actresses. She’s bared both her flesh and her soul for countless auteurs, but she’s perhaps never been asked to carry a film quite so completely as she did for Krzystof Kieslowski in THREE COLOURS: BLUE. As a grieving widow thrown into a traumatised “liberté” that she never asked for, Binoche’s performance is mostly silent, often as cold as the film’s azure cinematography and as deeply felt as Zbigniew Preisner’s extraordinary score. Her Julie (like the continent of Europe itself) must confront the submerged pains of the past as she is hurtled forward into an uncertain future. That’s right: Juliette Binoche IS Europe. She is Cinema. She is Everything.
It’s 3 a.m. You’re alone. You’re behind the wheel. The water droplets race over your windshield and distort the fluorescent street lights, blowing them up like fireworks. As your tires roll on the cold, wet Eugene asphalt, you start to reflect. You remember the great memories you shared with someone else. You realize that all the best times of your life are behind you. You reminisce about the individual who you’ve become a hollow shell of over years of experiences. Or maybe you’re just headed to the next party. In this Emerald Podcast, Alec and Jordan discuss the appropriate music for late night drives, no matter where you or your mind is racing. Songs you'll hear in this episode: "Monsoon" by Hippo Campus "Like Vineyards" by Little India "Weathered" by Jack Garratt "Intentions (feat. Dan Caplen)" by Macklemore "Gettin' It Done" by Ross from Friends "Pyramids" by Frank Ocean "Red and Gold" by MF Doom "Self-Portrait in Three Colours" by Charles Mingus This episode was produced by Alec Cowan.
Grief Theme - New release 'Louder Than Bombs', O'Russell's 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Trois Coleurs Bleu' are all discussed and compared
The 39th edition of the Next 100 Project takes us overseas to France, Poland and Switzerland for Krzysztof Kieslowski’s filmic swan song. The trilogy is made up of 3 distinct movies, with some fascinating and even shocking overlaps. Juliette Binoche and Irene Jacob stand out the most, but the entire cast is magnifique. Get you some Sparkplug.Coffee, then sink this foreign treat into your ears.
In the first film (Blue) Julie (Juliette Binoche) is haunted by her grief after living through a tragic auto wreck that claimed the life of her composer husband and young daughter. Her initial reaction is to withdraw from her relationships, lock herself in her apartment and suppress her pain. But avoiding human interactions on the bustling streets of Paris proves impossible, and she eventually meets up with Olivier (Benoît Régent), an old friend who harbors a secret love for her, and who could draw her back to reality. The second (White) is about equality, with the film depicting Karol Karol, a shy man who, after being left by his wife in humiliating circumstances in Paris, loses his money, his residency, and his friends. As a deeply ashamed beggar in Warsaw, Karol begins his effort to restore equality to his life through revenge.University student Valentine Dussault (Irène Jacob) in Geneva is talking to her possessive boyfriend in London to prepare for a visit.
