Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper, The True Story. A planned drug arrest in Mississippi suddenly erupted into a deadly ambush. Gunfire rained down from a sniper positioned on a hill. One police officer was struck three times and barely survived. An armed drug dealer was also shot. For Merle Temple and his fellow narcotics officers, it became a brutal reminder of the risk and danger they faced during America's first war on drugs. It was the late 1970s, a time before the bulletproof vest became standard equipment in police work. Temple, a former captain with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, shares his remarkable story on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. His experiences later inspired multiple novels filled with crime, corruption, faith, betrayal, and survival. The Podcast is available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio and most major podcast platforms. #LawEnforcementTalk #Free #Podcast #Radio A Drug Arrest Turned Into a Sniper Ambush Temple and his team were preparing for a buy-bust operation targeting suspected drug dealers. They knew the arrest would be dangerous, but they had no idea that the suspects had allegedly positioned a sniper above them. Just before leaving for the operation, Temple experienced an overwhelming feeling that he needed to turn around. “God scared me to death,” Temple said. “He commanded me to go back and get the bulletproof vests.” Temple initially resisted the warning. Body armor was not commonly worn by police officers in 1976, and his unit had only two vests available. Still, he returned and retrieved them. That decision may have saved lives. “They let it get away from them,” Temple recalled about the attempted arrest. “The drug dealers had a sniper with a rifle up on a hill, and he rained fire down on us. It was a terrible day.” The scene exploded into chaos. A police officer was shot three times and came close to death. A suspect was also struck by gunfire. The heavy protective vests Temple had gone back to retrieve suddenly became critically important. Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper, The True Story. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, is available on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and other major podcast platforms. The interview is also featured across Facebook and Instagram. It was a real-life Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper story, one that revealed the extraordinary dangers faced by early narcotics officers. Before Bulletproof Vests Became Standard Police Equipment Modern officers routinely recognize the importance of body armor, but police equipment was much different during the 1970s. Temple's unit had only two protective vests, and wearing one was far from commonplace. Narcotics agents frequently worked alone, without the tactical teams, communications technology, surveillance equipment, and immediate backup available to many officers today. “In those days, the unit was small,” Temple said. “There really wasn't any backup, you were on your own.” That isolation increased the risk of every undercover meeting, drug purchase, vehicle stop, and arrest. Agents could find themselves surrounded by armed suspects miles away from help. Temple repeatedly faced that reality during his career. From FBI Fingerprint Technician to Undercover Drug Agent Before entering narcotics enforcement, Temple worked as a fingerprint technician for the FBI. He later served as a deputy sheriff and became one of Mississippi's earliest designated narcotics officers. Temple attended Ole Miss and finished school around the time President Richard Nixon was launching the national “war on drugs.” He joined the newly formed Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and spent much of his career working undercover. “It was exciting,” he said. “I didn't know what I was getting into.” Temple eventually became an area commander and captain with the agency. His assignments placed him inside a violent criminal world where exposure could mean kidnapping, torture, or death. A 1989 profile in The Augusta Chronicle reported that Temple had been held hostage by two suspects while working undercover. It also described his survival of a sniper ambush carried out by cocaine dealers. Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper, The True Story. The episode is available across major platforms including their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, with highlights shared across their Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles. His life often seemed more unbelievable than anything an author could invent. A Gun to His Head and a Shotgun Against His Stomach One of Temple's most terrifying undercover encounters occurred near Tylertown, Mississippi. While posing as part of the drug world, he allowed two suspected dealers to get into his vehicle. They directed him into a remote area and eventually took him to a small shack built on stilts. There, his cover, and his life, were placed in immediate danger. One man reportedly pressed a pistol against Temple's head. The other held a shotgun against his stomach. “Images of my life really did flash past my mind,” Temple said. He knew he could be killed at any moment. There was no nearby team waiting to rescue him and no guarantee that anyone would find him if he disappeared. Temple later acknowledged that youth sometimes made him feel invulnerable. He took chances and made mistakes that, by his own admission, he should not have survived. Drug Dealers Allegedly Planned Where to Bury Him The threats against Temple did not end with undercover operations. According to Temple, drug dealers once discussed where they would bury his body after hired killers were supposed to murder him. His career exposed him to criminals who were willing to do far more than threaten an officer to protect their operations. Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper, The True Story. The Podcast is available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio and most major podcast platforms. Yet Temple continued his work. “Work was a crusade in those days,” he said. That crusade eventually collided with another powerful force: politics. Temple said corrupt political figures attempted to weaken the narcotics agency and install their own person inside the organization. The controversy was leaked to the Clarion-Ledger and became headline news. He also claimed that witness tampering occurred and that political figures were searching for a way to frame him. “It was politics that caused me to leave,” Temple said. “There were some corrupt politicians who wanted to clip our wings.” When Truth Became the Foundation for Fiction After leaving law enforcement, Temple transformed his experiences into the Michael Parker book series. Although the novels are presented as fiction, they draw heavily from Temple's career as a deputy sheriff, undercover agent, narcotics captain, corporate manager, political campaign chairman, and Christian ministry founder. Merle Temple is the author of: Deputy: Once Upon a Time in Mississippi Blood on the Ground A Ghostly Shade of Pale A Rented World The Redeemed: A Leap of Faith Resurrection: Home Before Dark The stories explore violent crime, political corruption, moral conflict, redemption, and the intersection of government, business, and organized criminal activity. Some of Temple's real experiences were reportedly so shocking that a district attorney told him audiences would consider them too unbelievable for a movie. Temple's response was simple: they actually happened. Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper, The True Story. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast continues bringing listeners real conversations from the front lines of crime, policing, trauma, survival, and healing. His life gives new meaning to the expression, “Truth is stranger than fiction.” “A Ghostly Shade of Pale” and the Michael Parker Series Among Temple's most recognized works is the book A Ghostly Shade of Pale. According to Temple's biography, it became the all-time bestselling novel at the Barnes & Noble store in Tupelo, Mississippi. His books have been used in middle school, high school, and college classrooms. They have also reached readers in church libraries, shelters, and prisons across numerous states. Temple signed books for members of the casts of Criminal Minds and Major Crimes in Hollywood. His work was also optioned for a proposed television series based on his extraordinary life. His story extends far beyond undercover police work. Temple founded a highly successful Christian ministry inside the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He served as Mississippi's state criminal justice chairman for Ronald Reagan and later became Georgia chairman of the Reagan Legacy Project. The Officer, Author, and Survivor Behind the Story Merle Temple's journey is filled with moments that sound as though they were created for a crime thriller: undercover drug buys, hostage situations, assassination plots, sniper fire, political corruption, and unexpected acts of faith. But behind those stories was a real officer confronting real danger. The sniper ambush remains one of the most powerful chapters of his life. His last-minute decision to retrieve two bulletproof vests demonstrated how one choice can separate survival from tragedy. Cop Down, Shot on Drug Arrest by a Sniper, The True Story. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium, Blogspot and Linkedin. The officer struck three times survived, but the attack exposed the enormous risk Temple and his team faced while confronting armed drug organizations with limited manpower and equipment. Temple's experiences eventually gave him the material, and the mission, to become an author. Bill Maher sits down with longtime NBC News anchor Brian Williams (AKA the James Bond of nightly news) to talk about what happened to network news—and what America lost along the way. Williams explains how newscasts became consumed with East Coast weather and “water-skiing squirrel” filler, and why he believes Democrats lost touch with working-class voters. Away from the anchor desk, Williams shares the double life few viewers knew about: nearly five decades as a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey, near-broke beginnings in Kansas, and why he has avoided alcohol after losing his brother to alcoholism. He recalls meeting his wife in a television control room, tearing up at his daughter Allison Williams's first Letterman appearance, watching his son build his own career in local news, and returning with Netflix's We're Back! The brilliance of "9 to 5" is that it is catchy even though it's also kinda depressing. You will be dancing along. You're enjoying it. And, then when you really listen to the lyrics, you're like, Wait, this is messed up. This is real. This is a problem we need to fix. Like, why does it have to be this way? That is the spirit of the song, why it became an anthem, and the heart of the movie 9 to 5. There's so much to say about Dolly Parton, about her music, acting career, her business savvy, not to mention Dollywood. Today though, we wanted to bring you the audacious true story of 9 to 5, the movie and the song. Between the 1960s and 1980s, there was a real sense that big workplace changes were just beyond the horizon. At the time, a very common job for women was clerical work. In 1973, a group of secretaries in Boston formed a women's labor organization. They called themselves the "9to5."Today on the show, we revisit our 2021 episode where we meet the women behind the movement that inspired the movie. "Sometimes God takes an appointed time, an appointed moment to intervene in your life." — Daniel FazzinaSome miracles happen instantly; others are slow brewed over time. God works in both ways and every way in between, displaying His divine interventions in our world. Christian author and journalist Daniel Fazzina has spent years documenting the Lord's miracles, so the world knows there is a God who deeply loves and cares for us. Fazzina suggests we shouldn't just look for a repeat of the parting of the Red Sea—we should look for everyday miracles closer to home. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith, Fazzina discusses the audiobook release of Divine Intervention: 50 True Stories of God's Miracles Today and his upcoming event, "Power of Testimony," taking place on Long Island, NY, on September 12th. Alexius Comnenus is a well-known Byzantine Emperor not least because his daughter, Anna, wrote one of the greatest works of medieval literature about him called “The Alexiad.” It's a cracking read, full of vivid character descriptions, battle scenes, back-stabbing politics and written in an epic style that echoes the Roman and Greek classics. It's not just central to the history of Byzantium but also to the Crusades since she's our main non-western commentator on the First Crusade and wrote some of the best descriptions of the fiery leaders of that Crusade, like Count Bohemond. It is of course, a tribute, or a hagiography to use that term, to her father who emerges as an Odysseus-like hero. She describes him thus:“His dark eyebrows were curved, and beneath them the gaze of his eyes was both terrible and kind. When he came into a gathering and began to speak, you were conscious from the moment he opened his mouth of the fiery eloquence of his tongue…”Alexius has gone down in history as the man who saved Byzantium largely because that's what his daughter has told us, but historians are now questioning whether that was true and, in this episode, I want to suggest his reign was failing by 1095, and his appeal to the Pope for help against the Turks was the result of weakness, and not because he was in a strong position to launch a counter-offensive against the Turks as proposed in the Alexiad. At twelve, Julie stared at a clawed arm at the end of her bed for seven seconds and then went back to reading, and the two decades that followed are why a UFO investigator spent weeks taking her statement.DEEP-DIVE ARTICLE about Archer Avenue & Resurrection Mary: https://weirddarkness.com/resurrection-mary/EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources): https://weirddarkness.com/EncountersOfJulieREAD or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/mtepz5jcFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: If you've listened to Weird Darkness for any length of time, you know that I will often suggest someone who has had a paranormal disturbance in their home or life, reach out to a pastor or priest for guidance. But what exactly happens when the Catholic Church starts investigating the paranormal? (When The Catholic Church Goes Ghost Hunting) *** Many states around America say they have the most haunted road in the country. And while the words “most haunted” are somewhat subjective, it's hard not to see why people outside of Chicago consider Archer Avenue not only the top spooky street in America, but the most haunted on the planet. (The Anguish Of Archer Avenue) *** After allegedly murdering her husband in 1960, Sharon Kinne shot her lover's pregnant wife. Then, she evaded justice and escaped to Mexico only to kill again — before vanishing without a trace. (The American Murderess Who Disappeared in 1969) *** Modern courtrooms aren't equipped or knowledgable enough to determine whether or not ghosts are real, but that hasn't stopped ghosts from appearing in several court cases! (Court Cases Involving Ghosts) *** When you hear of a two-headed creature you typically think of two heads side-by-side growing from the neck and shoulders area. But have you ever heard of a creature growing another head on the very top of it's other head? It happened… and not to just any creature. It was a human boy who lived much longer than anyone expected. (The Bengal Boy With Two Heads) *** Buried alive inside the castle walls, the Finnish Maiden immured still haunts the medieval building of Olavinlinna Castle. (The Maiden of Olavinlinna Castle) *** The case of “Julie” from Carlisle in the United Kingdom is an intriguing one not only because it unfolded over many years, but because it appears to straddle the line between apparent reptilian entities and paranormal activity. Dave Hodrien of the Birmingham UFO Group interviewed her in early 2022 about twenty years of reptilian sightings, poltergeist activity, and shadow figures that followed her from that bedroom into the hospital wards where she later worked as a senior nurse. From there comes the boy born in the Bengali village of Mundul Gaut in May 1783 with a second head sitting inverted on top of the first, an upper head that wept and tried to nurse while its expressions ran independent of the child's. A cobra killed him at four, a salt agent for the East India Company robbed his grave, and his skull still sits in the Hunterian Museum in London as a specimen of craniopagus parasiticus, a parasitic twinning that occurs in two or three births out of five million. The Vatican's paranormal caseload runs through the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and the Consulta Medica, a board of Italian Catholic physicians who rule on whether a healing has any natural explanation, with Michael O'Neill of MiracleHunter.com estimating that 99.9 percent of investigated miracles are medical. Father Lampert puts genuine demonic possession at one case in five thousand, and the Vatican's revised 1999 guidelines require priests to consult mental health professionals before any exorcism is approved.Archer Avenue follows, the old Native American trail southwest of Chicago where Resurrection Mary has hitchhiked between the O'Henry Ballroom and Resurrection Cemetery since the 1930s, and where police answering a call on August 10th, 1976 found the cemetery bars bent apart and scorched with handprints. The same stretch carries phantom monks at St. James of the Sag, a cloven hoofprint outside Kaiser Hall, a driverless hearse, the Maple Lake ghost light, and Red Gate Woods, where the world's first nuclear reactor lies buried from the Manhattan Project.Olavinlinna Castle, built on a lake island in southeastern Finland in 1475, holds the legend of the lord's daughter who opened the gate for her Russian lover and was condemned for treason and immured alive in the courtyard wall, with a rowan tree of white flowers and red berries said to have grown where she died.Sharon Kinne told police in March 1960 that her toddler had shot her husband, collected $230,000, and was acquitted of killing her lover's pregnant wife before fleeing to Mexico City, where she shot a man in a motel room and earned the nickname La Pistolera; she walked out of Iztapalapa prison during a blackout on December 7th, 1969 and has never been found. The episode closes on hauntings that reached a courtroom, from the 1917 Ouija-board novel Jap Herron credited to Mark Twain's ghost to Stambovsky v. Ackley, the 1991 Ghostbusters ruling that made a Nyack house legally haunted, and Gerald Brittle's $900 million suit daring Warner Bros. to prove the events behind The Conjuring actually happened.
Josh Ireland, author of The Death of Trotsky: The True Story of the Plot to Kill Stalin's Greatest Enemy, Part One: The narrative opens with the 1936 executions of original Bolsheviks Zinoviev and Kamenev under Stalin's orders. Ireland explores the contrasting lives and decades-long rivalry of Leon Trotsky (born Lev Bronstein) and Joseph Stalin (born Ioseb Jughashvili). While Trotsky was a brilliant, aristocratic orator who organized the 1905 revolution and commanded the Red Army in an armored train, Stalin was a quiet, meticulous bureaucrat who patiently built a vast network of political alliances. Following Lenin's death, Stalin systematically isolated Trotsky, eventually expelling him from the Politburo in 1927 and driving him into global exile, culminating in his arrival in Mexico. (1)
Scott Galloway joins Bill Maher for a wide-ranging conversation about the state of American men, modern dating, AI, and the economy. The bestselling author, host of The Prof G Pod, and co-host of Pivot argues that young men have more agency than they think, and that learning to handle rejection is part of moving forward. He and Bill get into porn, the incel movement, the manosphere, why humor and kindness still matter, and why men should pick up the check. Galloway tells the story of meeting his wife, debates Bill on the existential risks of AI, and weighs in on China's growing AI advantage, tariffs, capitalism, the shrinking middle class, inherited wealth, and whether older generations have tilted the economy too far in their own favor.. The Enchanted Tiki Room may look like a charming little show filled with singing birds, but it fundamentally changed what Disneyland—and theme-park attractions—could be. Ken Bruce, the author who spent years researching its history, joins us to separate Disney mythology from the real story. EPISODE 756 - Lynda Fishman - Repairing Rainbows - At 13 A Plane Crash Took Her Mother and Two Sisters - Finding The Tools to Move Forward After A Tragic LossIn this heartfelt episode, author and therapist Lynda Fishman joins host Dave to share the story behind her powerful memoir Repairing Rainbows. Speaking from Toronto, Lynda reflects on the life-changing tragedy that shaped her journey: at only thirteen, she lost her mother and two younger sisters in an Air Canada plane crash, an unimaginable event that forced her to grow up in the shadow of grief and rediscover meaning in life.Lynda recalls writing her book decades after the tragedy, leaning on the diaries and scrapbooks she kept as a young girl. The process was painful yet cathartic, allowing her to revisit the darkness she had long suppressed. She decided early on to tune out those who told her she couldn't write her story and focus instead on encouraging voices that reminded her she could—and should—share it to help others find hope after loss. Her first thirteen years, she explains, provided the foundation for the resilience she would later need. Growing up in a loving, noisy home with a devoted mother taught her the values of family, gratitude, and compassion. Those early lessons guided her choices as she rebuilt her life, pursued a career in social work, and dedicated decades to helping others cope with grief and change.Lynda paints a vivid picture of what it meant to be thirteen and suddenly alone—the shock, the endless procession of mourners, and the silence that followed when they left. She found solace in small rituals, like polishing the sink with Ajax, a simple act that made her feel close to her mother. Through it all, gratitude became her anchor. Volunteering, staying busy, and later forming a loving marriage helped her transform unimaginable pain into a life of purpose. In Repairing Rainbows, Lynda and her husband, who also endured loss at a young age, share lessons learned through four decades of healing. The book is not about tragedy—it is about choice. Readers around the world have found comfort in its message: that grief and joy can coexist, and that moving forward is not betrayal but necessity. She describes how connections with a medium later reinforced her belief that life continues beyond loss, offering peace and closure she hadn't allowed herself to feel before. Throughout her journey, Lynda has remained committed to helping others discover the same sense of possibility and gratitude that lifted her beyond despair.Key Takeaway: Even in the darkest chapters, it is possible to rewrite your story through gratitude, compassion, and choice. As Lynda reminds us, loss can define you—or it can refine you. The decision to move forward and embrace joy is the ultimate act of healing.https://repairingrainbows.com/A True Story of Family, Tragedy, and ChoicesAt thirteen years old, Lynda's life comes to a disastrous halt when her mother and two younger sisters are killed in a plane crash. Her father, overcome by despair, simply continues to exist, in a state devoid of hope. After burying a wife and two young children at the age of 44, the overwhelming responsibility of raising a daughter alone completely immobilizes him.Teetering on that tender brink between childhood and adolescence, Lynda faces the responsibility of a father in a complete state of shock, a house to take care of and hundreds of decisions about how to proceed with their shattered lives. In Repairing Rainbows she candidly describes the agonizing memories, deafening silence and endless hardships that are the fallout of incredible loss. As we follow her through marriage, motherhood and her own spiritual journey, Lynda reveals her complex feelings of hope, anger, pity and determination. Most importantly, she learns the crucial difference between “truly living” and the existence that is so often mistaken for being alive.A true story, written by a woman whose normal and abundant life hides a terrible past, Repairing Rainbows is loaded with important lessons to help others overcome struggles and obstacles, and fulfill their lives. It is a powerful, captivating, riveting and easy-to-read story that will undoubtedly touch the hearts of its readers.Support the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: July, 2022Weird Darkness digs into Ukraine's decades-long record of UFO sightings and humanoid encounters, from a husband and wife carried aboard a disc-shaped craft outside their own front door, to horned figures stripping orchards near an ancient fortress honeycombed with tunnels, to a truck driver who described being walked across the surface of the moon by three men who had flagged him down for car trouble. It opens with the case reported in the June 20th, 2008 edition of the Ukrainian newspaper Facts, in which 34-year-old Vladimir Voronezhskiy and his 29-year-old wife Olga described being taken aboard a disc-shaped craft outside their home in the early hours of the morning. The evening began when their daughters Vanessa and Angelica came back from a nearby shop describing a "flying star", then drew matching sketches of a round object flashing white, yellow and red. Olga and Vladimir went outside and watched an object hovering over a distant river, and Olga's mobile phone captured only a blurred yellow smear. Around 2 am the bedroom filled with white light, the roof appeared to turn transparent, and the couple ran outside to find a disc hanging roughly 350 feet from the house. Olga rose into the air in a spiraling motion while Vladimir grabbed for her leg and missed, and the two of them found themselves inside a bare room with glass-like walls, surrounded by three-foot entities with gray skin, oversized heads and three fingers on each hand, moving without visible legs in the manner of a caterpillar. Olga was placed in a medical chair and watched the entities open an incision across her abdomen with instruments she had never seen before, feeling no pain, then close it so completely that no scar remained; Vladimir, held back by what felt like an invisible wall, was paralyzed by four metal rods laid on his chest after he struggled, and a voice entered his head promising he would be home soon. A taller figure, roughly five feet tall with its face fully covered, told him only that the procedures "had to be done". The couple were then seated in front of transparent walls where the sun looked like a diffused spot of light and the Earth appeared no bigger than a tennis ball, taken down to a world where the inhabitants lived in open pits below the surface, and told that humans and cattle alike had been brought to Earth from another planet. Vladimir refused repeated attempts to make him copulate with a female entity, even after it took the form of a beautiful human woman, and the conversation turned instead to human emotion and why our species has not yet destroyed itself. UFO researcher Yuriy Stepanov later placed Vladimir under hypnotic regression, which produced detailed sketches of the craft and its occupants along with the claim that a plasma field surrounding the ship rendered it invisible to the eye and undetectable on radar. Medical examination of the family turned up no implants, though Vladimir's gray hair regained its color, Olga's lifelong stomach pain never came back, and she claimed she could sober up a drunk person by resting a hand on his forehead for two minutes. Their neighbors mocked them for all of it.From there the episode backs up to the June 9th, 2006 edition of the same newspaper, which reported that residents across Mariupol spent an evening watching six disc-shaped objects over the city and jammed the phone lines of local papers with calls, while the Ukrainian Air Force and air traffic control at Mariupol Airport both said their radar showed nothing unusual; the next morning a watchman named Nikolay Trinitsyn counted around twenty fast-flying lighted spheres over an industrial district in full daylight, visible to his coworkers for about ten minutes before they were gone. Older encounters follow. In the summer of 1952, according to an account in Interesting Newspaper, a boy named Ivan Sergeevich was left alone at a campfire with an elderly woman after a sudden violent wind scattered the group's horses, and three helmeted figures about six feet tall walked out of a bright domed object rising from the woods, halted twice by handfuls of powder the woman threw into the fire to make it crackle. Around the same season in Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy, Komsomolskaya Pravda documented an insomniac watching five horned figures in his neighbor's yard, followed the next day by an apple tree stripped bare, part of a run of horned-creature sightings and vanishing food near a fortress that local legend says sits atop a network of secret tunnels used by creatures living underground and, in other tellings, by survivors of a UFO crash. Anton Anfalov of the Yaroslavl UFO Group recorded a three-day encounter in Zhdanivka in August of 1953, where Lina Ivanovna Kravets watched a silver globe descend behind the houses and a neighbor found three figures in dark overalls, gloves and helmets cutting fruit-laden branches from apple, plum and cherry trees while carrying wheat, rye and transparent tubes holding a frog, a lizard and a fish; in broken Russian they told her they had flown from up there, that they were searching for a lost scout ship they feared humans had destroyed, that Earth's wars affected natural disasters on their own world, and they offered her a piece of their bread before leaving. The segment ends with the 1971 Odesa catacombs account published in The Secret Doctrine, in which a young woman named Masha followed the sound of a child crying down a side passage, was struck from behind and disappeared for three days, later gave birth to a son with a large head, small mouth and outsized eyes who read academic material as a child, and who vanished in those same catacombs in the late 1990s and was never found. The final stretch runs through four more abduction reports and into the present day. Outside Chernivtsi in the early hours of January 8th, 1976, a glass-factory truck driver identified only as Nikolay N was woken by knocking on his cab window by three men who said their car had broken down, and was led instead to an upright cylinder with a glowing dome, blacked out on board, woke on a table wired with cables and devices, and was told he was at his hosts' base on the moon before being suited up and taken by elevator to the surface, where he could see the Earth's cloud cover; years later a man stopped him on the street and asked how his trip to the moon had been. On the night of April 17th into the 18th of 1982 in Simferopol, Crimea, researchers Vladimir A Borominskiy and Vladimir A Belozyerov of the Simferopol UFO Research Group documented electrician Yuriy Vasilievich Zbroy watching a shape push through his bedroom wall, touching it, feeling himself become magnetized, and then facing three creatures that emerged from a saucer the size of a toy and grew as they approached before telling him telepathically that they intended to take sperm for a hybridization program. In June of 1989 near Kharkiv, the Kirov UFO Group reported Ivan Rybchenko stopping his car for a descending luminous spot, stepping through two doors that opened in its side, being placed in a box lined with soft material, and waking to a tearing pain in his left hand before viewing an alien world dotted with communication towers and a base he was told ran automatically, without crew. In February of 1990, in an account from Gennadiy Ya Leszshenko's book At The Edge of the Unknown or What is Behind the Curtain, relayed by veteran researcher Albert Rosales, 68-year-old Ivan Nikanorovich went outside to quiet his barking dogs in the Donetsk region and was confronted by three figures around ten feet tall whose outer suits peeled away by themselves once aboard, and who flew him past planets before returning him home so ill he could not eat for three days. Sightings have not stopped: a white triangular craft with no wings, windows or markings was filmed over the country in August of 2019 and attributed by some to the rumored American TR-3B, two metallic objects roughly the size of a small van were filmed over Odesa in February of 2022, and on March 1st of that year a disc-shaped object was recorded from an apartment window in an area under shelling, hanging in the distance while the explosions went off below it.
