To watch this episode, tune in on the Flame Bearers YouTube Channel -------------------------- “Even if I fail, I'm loved and I have purpose.” That's the mindset that carried Team USA wrestler Alexandria Glaudé through two years of injury, three surgeries, and a massive comeback not many saw coming. From losing her father at age seven to being cut from her high school basketball team, Alexandria's path to wrestling was anything but traditional. “Fine, if I get cut from basketball, I'll join wrestling,” she joked with friends—never thinking she'd actually be cut. The next day, she was. And the rest? “The choice was made for me,” she laughs. In this interview, Alexandria takes us behind the scenes of her stunning US Open victory, what it took to get back to competition, and the unshakable faith that fuels her. “Wrestling is just a tool God gave me to connect with people,” she reflects. She shares how her injury became an unexpected gift, helping her grow spiritually and personally: “If I'm going to be in alignment with God's plan, that doesn't always mean I'm going to get what I want.” She also gets real about body image, content creation, and what beauty means on her terms. “I used to think I was too big,” she says. “But once I saw what my body could do, I knew I was made this way on purpose.” Now balancing elite training and a growing digital platform (without a manager), Alexandria is blazing her own path. “I had a Trader Joe's application up,” she chuckles, “but I decided to treat social media like a job.” Her call to action? Simple and powerful: “Go to a women's wrestling tournament. Show up. Cheer. See what we're about.” Photo provided by Alexandria — Flame Bearers is a multimedia movement, illuminating the unsung stories of elite women athletes from around the world. Send us a textThe divide between golf purists and pragmatists takes center stage in this episode as we explore what truly gives a major championship its identity. Fresh off Scottie Scheffler's commanding PGA Championship victory, we examine not just his dominant performance but the deeper question: should prestigious majors be played on familiar tour stops, or does that diminish their special character? When industry insider Aarik Greenely unexpectedly joins the conversation, the debate intensifies. Drawing from his extensive background in golf, Aarik offers a nuanced perspective on the PGA Championship's place in the major hierarchy—challenging enough to test every aspect of a player's game without crossing into the punitive territory of a US Open. "I don't like watching the best golfers in the world get embarrassed," Greenely asserts, sparking a thoughtful exchange about what makes tournament golf compelling for both players and spectators.Between discussions of Scheffler's potential Grand Slam path and Harry Hall's strong T19 finish, we share the excitement of our community-building ball marker scavenger hunt across Las Vegas. This local initiative has listeners following social media clues to find hidden Ball Markers at unexpected locations—from local golf centers to poke restaurants. The episode closes with an intimate equipment conversation as we reveal our favorite clubs and golf balls, offering both personal insights and practical recommendations for fellow golf enthusiasts.Join us next week when Dave from Goodwood Putters visits to share his expertise on custom putters and the craft behind them. Tony Meola and Benny Feilhaber take the reins of the show - and there's plenty to talk about. The USMNT drops its 60-man preliminary Gold Cup roster, and once again there's no Gio Reyna (04:23). Meanwhile, it was a silverware-stacked weekend for Americans abroad: Chris Richards and Matt Turner made FA Cup history at Wembley, four Yanks helped PSV lift the Eredivisie title, and Damion Downs sealed promotion and a 2. Bundesliga championship (27:06). On the flip side, AC Milan miss out on Europe - could that actually benefit Christian Pulisic (34:50)? Plus, a U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 preview (48:17) - can the Pittsburgh Riverhounds play giant-killer again? - and a head-scratcher from LA Galaxy - why announce Greg Vanney's contract extension now (55:20)?
