In this episode, I'm sharing something deeply personal and profoundly urgent. After years of working with women around the world—especially sensitive and neurodivergent women—I've seen a heartbreaking pattern: a lack of belief in self, chronic disempowerment, silencing, medical dismissal, and burnout. And yet, it's women who are most needed right now. We are the ones with the empathy, strength, and vision to rise and create change.I explore how gender bias in research has harmed women's health, how reproductive rights are being stripped away, how trauma and unprocessed stress are impacting our bodies, and why so many of us have been conditioned to stay small. This episode is both a wake-up call and a collective invitation to rise—together. You'll hear about:The epidemic of disempowerment and chronic illness in womenGender-based violence and the reasons survivors stay silentHow medical research has excluded women for decadesThe criminalization of miscarriage and reproductive injusticeThe impact of economic disempowerment and unpaid laborIntersectionality and why our liberation must include all womenMedical gaslighting and the misdiagnosis of sensitive, neurodivergent womenA vision for collective healing, empowerment, and actionIf you've been feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or unsure where to begin—this episode is for you. You are not alone. And you were never meant to do this alone. If you're wondering what to do next, here are a few gentle first steps:Join my Sensitive Empowerment Community—a global space for education, connection, and healing. It's almost the holiday season, a season of joy and giving. And during this giving season it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of things and get weary in the difficulties that life seems to send our way. We may want to be a giver but raising kids, building a business, providing a living and all other demands on our life, can rob us of the ability to give. And while it may seem counterintuitive, the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you. If you are emotionally unhealthy, you can't give your time and inspiration to others. If you are mentally unhealthy, it's almost impossible to have the strength to persevere, lead and give. If you're spiritually unhealthy, you can't inspire, uplift or be the example you want to be.In this episode, McKay tells the story of Philip Stern, a photographer and book editor. Stern gifted the US servicemen and women in World War II by editing, compiling, and resizing hundreds of popular books to fit into the pockets of military uniforms. During this inspired time of Stern's life, he would write the famous story of The Greatest Gift. It would eventually become the award-winning film It's A Wonderful Life. Taking Philip Stern's example, McKay elaborates on how we impact the world in unique ways with our choices, and asserts that one gift, our lives, and the choices we make, can bless others for years to come. He shows how selfishness and the pursuit of bringing more to ourselves halt this impact, and draws lessons from the 1987 Jessica Morales rescue story. McKay then asserts that the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you, and shares a life experience when his renewed Mustang got stolen from his garage and relates it to the choice to be healthy. Listen in today as McKay shares lessons learned from both fiction and real life that open our eyes to the ways in which doing good and making healthy choices can lead to a healthier and happier life. The Finer Details of This Episode:Philip Stern's gift to US World War II servicemen and womenA lesson to be grateful for lifeThe award-winning film It's a Wonderful LifeHow one gift and your life can bless others for years to comeThe effect of selfishness and the pursuit of bringing more to ourselvesThe Morales Family storyThe greatest gift you could give yourself – a healthy youThe reintroduction of the Mustang of the 1960sHow you begin to make choices that lead to a healthier youThe 2003 movie Freaky Friday, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay LohanHow our frame of reference determines our healthGym owner and workout Coach Marc Zalmanoff Lessons from the movie GladiatorLessons from the story of Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. SeussQuotes:"Our life is a gift. Meet Elissa Freiha, Elissa is the Founder and CEO of Womena. Elissa's energy, creativity, desire for change and spontaneity grabbed my attention. Not only that but her desire to want to build up a feminist media company to amplify women's stories. To be this passionate about something and build up a whole business around it, one must have a story behind that, and that is why I ask Elissa to tell us more about what fascinated her to want to explore the world of feminism (which she shares at the beginning of the episode) We also talk about, how Womena came to existence? The challenges she faced founding a company right after finishing university. What would she have done differently if she would have repeated the same experience again, what is her definition of success and much much more. Check out the full episode.

When was the first time you were told something was 3aib? Do you still feel the burden of carrying your family's honor? Growing up, were you told you were too much? If so, we're here to talk about it and let you know you're not alone. If you enjoyed this episode make sure you subscribe, rate and review! Studies show that by 2025 the United States will have 1 million jobs in technology but not enough people to fill positions.A low amount of students are studying tech industries, but Helen Norris, VP and CIO of Chapman University, is encouraging this to change. Believing she would become a high school math teacher when she enrolled in college, she stumbled upon computer programming and shifted her career into the technology industry. Playing many roles in IT including a systems administrator, programmer, network engineer and working on a service desk, her experience has prepared her to become the CIO she is today. With demographics showing that the U.S. doesn’t have enough people working in technical fields, Norris knows that the nation will be at a disadvantage if more people don’t enter into STEM. Norris shares the importance of STEM in higher education, her thoughts on women in tech and why education is so important in order to fill spots that may be missing in career advancement.Key Takeaways:Studies show that by 2025 the U.S. will have 1 million jobs unable to be filled because there won’t be enough people in the tech fieldThere hasn’t been a huge shift in the number of women in tech: some teams will still only have one to no womenA high percentage of students at universities are women but men take up the majority of STEM fieldsListeners who’d like to contact Norris can send an email to hnorris@chapman.edu or follow her on Twitter @CIO_ChapmanU.

Raw and unfiltered, this is my conversation with the passionate and energetic Elissa Freiha, the founder of WOMENA, a company dedicated to increasing female representation in the tech industry. We talk about Tech, making things happen, startups and the #MeToo, #TimesUp movements.
Show Takeaways:On how the MENA startup ecosystem has evolved over the last few years… Angel groups and accelerators have greatly evolved from what they were before; investors are more active with startups and the market education has occurred. We have moved beyond some of the initial just ‘talk’ around investments and the overall scene is more active. On where the MENA startup ecosystem is heading next…The next step is focus – early on we saw a lot more ideation, but now it’s about creation and implementation of strategy. Lead angels of years ago are now heading VCs and we have more niche/industry focused approaches towards portfolios. Rather than external consultants assisting the ecosystem, entrepreneurs are starting to give backOn how Angel Investors in the region can improve…Angel investors need to learn to trust the entrepreneurs, trust the ecosystem and community around them. New investors aren’t comfortable investing after 20 minute coffees and funding rounds at Seed and Series A can take up to two years. So there needs to be faster turn around and they need to be more active. On the Step Conference…Step is about the community and connecting with other entrepreneurs and the overall MENA startup ecosystem coming together. Check out more episodes from the 2018 Step Conference Series and learn more about Womena. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This week we seem to have a new addition around the house in the form of a stray dog. I've got a bit of a rant about the Duggar family. A theme of sexual "misconduct" from live sexual harassment and a cross dressing contest winner to a Navy porn actor. Plus a couple lessons from dumb criminals, and this week's featured podcast, "Within the Wires." -Around the House-This week we may possibly be getting a new puppy. She picked it up and had it checked out with her vet friends, but she can't keep a dog in her apartment. So, here we come, as the only ones nearby with a house, and for some reason the inability to say no when she needs to unload animals. She's making flyers and posting up on lost dog pages and things. In the mean time, we are puppy sitting. Of course if nobody claims this dog, we have another dog. -Entertainment News-Jinger Duggar Wearing Pants.
