En entrevista para MVS Noticias con Ana Francisca Vega, Iván Alamillo, periodista de investigación de Mexicanos Contra la Corrupción y la Impunidad, habló sobre los presuntos prestanombres de García Luna transfirieron 4.5 millones de dólares a la pareja de Manuel Bartlett, según investigación de la organización. "Nosotros revelamos el día de ayer que Julia Abdalá, que es la pareja desde hace más de 20 años del exdirector de la CFE, Manuel Bartlett, recibidos entre 2012 y 2018, transferencias por 4.5 millones de dólares, que actualmente equivalen a 120 millones de pesos", dijo. Comentó que las transferencias las hicieron miembros de la familia Weinberg, que según el gobierno mexicano son los prestanombres de Genaro García Luna, extitular de la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, en el gobierno del expresidente Felipe Calderón; y principales cómplices en los delitos de peculado y lavado de dinero. Mencionó que los documentos son parte de la demanda civil que la Unidad de Inteligencia Financiera (UIF) presentó en una corte de Florida, para recuperar los fondos que García Luna y los Weinberg desviaron del erario público, entre los años 2008 y 2018. Del total de incidentes, 231 fueron asesinatos, de los cuales, 34 ocurrieron contra candidatos o aspirantes a cargos de elección popular. Los estados con mayor incidencia son Guerrero, Chiapas y Puebla. Alejandro Moreno –director de Encuestas de "El Financiero"–, sobre la encuesta nacional de El Financiero reveló que Claudia Sheinbaum saca una ventaja de 14 puntos entre el total de las 2 mil 308 personas entrevistadas, y 10 puntos entre quienes son probables votantes, es decir que posiblemente acudirán a las urnas este 2 de junio. Dr. José Nabor Cruz Marcelo –secretario Ejecutivo del CONEVAL–, nos comparte información de las estadísticas de pobreza laboral en México, la cual disminuyó 1.9 puntos porcentuales en el primer trimestre de 2024 respecto al mismo periodo del año pasado, ubicándose en 35.8 por ciento, de acuerdo con datos del Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social. La disminución anual de la pobreza laboral se dio a la par de un aumento del ingreso laboral real per cápita de 7.2%, al pasar de 3,058.60 a 3,277.58 pesos reales al mes. Jose Alamillo (Deportes: The Making of a Sporting Mexican Diaspora) joins the panel to discuss the impact of Fernando Valenzuela when he emerged as baseball's biggest star 30 years ago.

This week, Miguel speaks to Dr. Jose Alamillo  (http://josealamillo.cikeys.com/), professor of Chicana/o Studies at California State University, Channel Islands. Dr. Alamillo is a cultural historian who teaches and writes about immigration, labor, race, gender, leisure, and sport. Dr. Alamillo is also the author of Deportes: The Making of a Sporting Mexican Diaspora. Miguel spoke to Dr. Jose Alamillo about his book Deportes and the development of the Sporting Mexican Diaspora in the 20th century between Mexicans on both sides of the border. They discuss the importance of boxing, baseball, and other sports in developing a transnational sports network between Mexico and what became known as Mexico de Aufera, which was Southern California & beyond. The development of this network through sports created what Dr. Alamillo calls the Sporting Mexican Diaspora.   Additionally, Dr. Alamillo described how the U.S. government's imperialist project in Latin America deliberately shaped the Sporting Mexican Diaspora through the Good Neighbor Policy and the Office of Iner-American Affairs (OIAA). Dr. Alamillo also explained the importance of Mexican sports journalists in developing the Mexican sporting diaspora, plus more!   Episode 20s Molotov MVP is the legendary Mexican/Chicano Tennis superstar Richard "Pancho" Gonzalez. He faced racism as a Mexican in a sport dominated by the white establishment. Nevertheless, El Maestro de la Raqueta was ranked #1 in the world of tennis for eight consecutive years, from 1952-1960, and was in the top 10 for 21 straight years, from 1948-1969. After the segment, Miguel included archival audio from a 1950s sports program called Jimmy Powers Press Box Favorites featuring Pancho Gonzalez.   Lastly, Miguel highlights the legendary Chicana labor organizer and teacher, Emma Tenayuca, for episode 20s Xicano/a sports history.
