Tonight, we have an opportunity to bring a piece of Le Mans to you, sharing in the Legend of Le Mans with guests from different eras of over 100 years of racing. In 2007 Adrián Fernández made his debut at Le Mans taking home a second place in a V8 powered LMP2 prototype. This was the first podium for a Mexican driver at the Circuit de la Sarthe since the 1960s. Three years later in 2010, Adrián found himself back at Le Mans this time behind the wheel of Aston Martin's LMP1 finishing fifth in class (6th overall). Returning for the 80th running of Le Mans in 2012, Adrián and Aston Martin took home a third place finish in the GTE-Pro class covering 332 laps without failures or serious mechanical problems. With his help, the team achieved the fastest lap in their class at 3:54.928. And Adrián had the distinct honor of driving the Aston to the checkered flag. On September 12, 2012, Adrián announced his retirement from racing, thus concluding his relationship with Aston Martin Racing, but that wasn't the end of this involvement in the world of Motorsports. ===== (Oo---x---oO) ===== 00:00 Adrian Fernandez's Le Mans Journey 01:56 Early Racing Career and Challenges 03:20 Transition to Endurance Racing 07:54 First Le Mans Experience 10:50 Challenges and Triumphs at Le Mans 13:13 The Art of Endurance Racing 21:45 Aston Martin and Later Years 24:49 Transition to GT Racing 25:58 Final Race and Reflections 29:03 Advice for Aspiring Drivers 34:37 Changes in Motorsport: Safety Innovations 38:32 Historic Cars and Modern Racing 40:55 Life After Racing 45:35 Closing Thoughts and Farewell ==================== The Motoring Podcast Network : Years of racing, wrenching and Motorsports experience brings together a top notch collection of knowledge, stories and information. #everyonehasastory #gtmbreakfix - motoringpodcast.net More Information: https://www.motoringpodcast.net/ Become a VIP at: https://www.patreon.com/gtmotorsports Online Magazine: https://www.gtmotorsports.org/ To learn more about or to become a member of the ACO USA, look no further than www.lemans.org, Click on English in the upper right corner and then click on the ACO members tab for Club Offers. fWotD Episode 2640: Aston Martin DB9 Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Saturday, 27 July 2024 is Aston Martin DB9.The Aston Martin DB9 is a two-door grand touring car produced by the British carmaker Aston Martin. Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker and produced between 2004 and 2016 in Gaydon, Warwickshire, the DB9 was available as both a coupe and a convertible, the latter known as the "Volante". Succeeding the DB7, which Aston Martin produced from 1994 until 2004, the DB9 debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003, while the Volante debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in the subsequent year. The DB9, which is built upon Aston Martin's vertical/horizontal platform, employs extensive use of aluminium throughout the body. Aston Martin implemented several incremental updates to the DB9, termed "facelifts". The first two updates—which occurred in 2008 and 2010—involved minor changes to the headlights, tail-lights, engine and interior. The most noteworthy update occurred in 2012 when Aston Martin introduced a completely redesigned front fascia for the DB9. The headlights were the most significant update, which gave the car a design reminiscent of the 2011–2012 Virage. The company's racing division, Aston Martin Racing, adapted the DB9 for sports car racing in the form of the DBR9 and the DBRS9 for the FIA GT1 and the FIA GT3, respectively. They were extensively modified; the interior features were removed and the aluminium body panels were replaced by carbon fibre panels. The engine was modified in both cars to produce more horsepower and torque. Aston Martin released three special editions of the DB9: the DB9 LM, the DB9 Zagato Spyder Centennial and the DB9 GT.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:30 UTC on Saturday, 27 July 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Aston Martin DB9 on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Kevin.

I get guest suggestions sent to me regularly, and this show is the result of one of those. Dave Kallmann messaged me on Twitter to suggest a few motorsports photographers, and that instantly intrigued me. Dave is a sports reporter for Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and he is one hell of a photographer himself. If he was suggesting someone then I knew I had to take a look, and man, I am so glad that I did. Jamey Price is a motorsport and automotive photographer from Charlotte, North Carolina, and he is in a league of his own. If you've watched or listened to show for any amount of time, you'll know that I spend a lot of time looking through my guest's work to try and find common threads, those things that seem to connect all of the shots together. Many photographers have these fine threads that seem to weave from image to image, a way that they tell their story that is unique to them. For Jamey it's motion. Let me explain... As a motorsports photographer, of course Jamey is photographing things in motion, and when I say motion I mean speed, but that's not the thread I am talking about. Jamey has an ability to coney to the viewer a feeling of actual motion. Through the use of panning, a creative depth of field, or a dragged shutter, Jamey makes you feel like you are along for the ride. I'm not sure if you can motion sickness from a photo, but if you can then you'd be advised to view Jamey's work carefully. I am left wondering if Jamey's early career choices played a role in the resulting images I see. Jamey was a thoroughbred steeplechase horse racing jockey and exercise rider in the United States, England and Ireland. He rode in more than 50 races, and notched 11 wins in the saddle, all the while taking photos between his races. He eventually self published a book titled "Chasing: Racing Life in England & Ireland." In 2011, Jamey's photography career path switched from horses, to horse power. Since then, his images have been published around the world in magazines, newspapers and websites including The New York Times, HotRod, Hagerty, MAXIM, Car&Driver, CycleWorld, Road&Track, Autoweek, RACER, MotorTrend, Autosport, F1 Racing magazine, Motorsport Magazine, Formula1.com, Lamborghini.com, TopGear.com, Blackbird Automotive Journal, Popular Mechanics, Sports Illustrated & ESPN and many others. Named Motorsport Photographer of the Year in 2019 by the National Motorsports Press Association, Jamey currently does freelance work supplying racing and marketing imagery to some of the most respected automotive brands, photographers, agencies and racing teams and drivers across the world including: Lamborghini & Lamborghini Squadra Corse, Ferrari, Ducati, Audi Canada, Acura, Red Bull, Ford, Bentley, Goodyear, PUMA, MOTUL, RM Sotheby's, Aston Martin Racing, Manor Racing F1 team, Force India Formula 1 team, Renault Formula 1 team, Alpine Formula 1 Team, Williams Formula 1 team, Toyota Gazoo Racing, the Macau Grand Prix and many more. Though primarily sticking to the motor racing and automotive world, Jamey has photographed a diverse range of sporting assignments from professional swimming, to the Kentucky Derby & Breeders' Cup Horse Racing World Championships, NFL games, US Women's National team soccer, and of course the fast-paced world of NASCAR, World Endurance Championship, Formula E, IMSA Weathertech Championship, NHRA, Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Indycar & the Indy 500, MotoGP, 24 hours of Le Mans, 24 hours of Nürburgring, more than 35 Formula 1 races, and a little bit of everything in between! Jamey has been the staff photographer for successful Charlotte based luxury print magazine, QC Exclusive and Discover the Carolinas since 2014 and is a sponsored LEXAR Elite Artist. Join award winning photographer, and LEXAR Elite Artist, Jamey Price and me as we peek into his world of F1 Motorsports Photography, on this Behind the Shot. Welcome to the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast. Our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a motorsport roundup with events from around the World! This week, we cover the Formula 1 finale in Abu Dhabi, plus F2 and news from the FIA! We kick off things with the Formula 1 race at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which was a bit of a dull race, having already announced the Formula 1 Champion with Max Verstappen dominating the season. How can Abu Dhabi be more exciting? The battle for 2nd in the driver's championship was a tough one between Charles LeClerc and Sergio Perez though, with LeClerc beating the Red Bull driver. We of course have the retirement of Sebastian Vettel, whereas Pierre Gasly is moving to Alpine, with Alonso moving to Aston Martin Racing. The finale to the Formula 2 season was an exciting one too, as Logan Sargeant gets the final seat in F2 for Williams in the 2023 season. Elsewhere, Tiff has been making headlines following some Tweets he posted about Sergio Perez and comments from Max Verstappen's Mum! There's also news from the FIA on potentially starting a new, Women's driver's championship in a Gen 2 Formula Four Series. The World Superbikes Championship also came to an end at Phillip Island, crowning Alvaro Bautista as Champion for 2022. Next week, we have Extreme E in Uruguay, and have announced a raced in Scotland in May next year!

The Spanish Grand Prix was not so bad after all! The beginning of the European season brought various upgrades to many teams cars, some worked some didn't. Aston Martin Racing revert to their "Tracing Point Days", Ferrari blew their lead in the World Constructors and Drivers Championship as Red Bull Racing overcome their reliability issues to take a 1-2 in Catalunya and the return on the Evil Empire (Mercedes F1 Team) seems to be imminent! Much to talk about in the run up the the jewel in the crown of Formula 1, the famed Monaco Grand Prix. We have our thoughts on the action in Barcelona and our predictions for Monaco! Lets Jump The Start!
Could 2022 Formula 1 season be the last of Sebastian Vettel & Monaco in the sport? It's strange that two Formula 1 classics might face a bleak future as the current season goes along. In the case of Vettel, could the uncompetitive Aston Martin remain attractive? In the case of Monaco, it could be a case of pressure from Formula 1 to sign a more-favourable contract and also the fact that more interesting circuits are being announced as race venues. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil and Kunal discuss what can become of Sebastian Vettel & Monaco. Could Vettel go the Fernando Alonso way? Race other cars / series & see if his passion for Formula 1 reignites? As for Monaco, what's your view - should Formula 1 drop the iconic venue or continue with it? Tune in! The first week of Formula 1 car reveals has now passed. We saw 4 teams unveil their 2022 title challengers and not one was the same. Today we take a look at Haas F1 Team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, Aston Martin Racing and Mclaren F1 Team. Which livery looks the best and which car look the fastest?
Formula 1 test driver Nick Yelloly joins the show this week, ahead of his appearance in the Abu Dhabi test at the end of the season. Yelloly was a relative latecomer to junior single-seaters but proved to be able to mix it with some of the best - notably in the 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 season. His junior single-seater career stalled in 2015, but he was able to graft out a career as a GT stalwart and also as a F1 test driver currently with Aston Martin Racing. He explains all to Alejandro Alonso Lopez in this week's episode
On this episode we will get to know Jake Goodman, also know as DTS JGoodman. He is a pro Forza Motorsport Livery Artist, a Pro Livery Artist for CSJ Motorspots (Official North America Distributor of Aston Martin Race Cars and Parts ) and for Aston Martin Racing. He is also a ComicBook creator!
HOLY WOW! That was an epic race on all counts. The start, opening lap, one-car restart, the 'what's actually happening in the race?' phase, Lewis Hamliton's undercuts-overtakes & then Fernando Alonso's brilliant defensive driving and team play. Was there a moment from the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix that you did not enjoy? In this Pits to Podium segment of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil and Kunal re-live Esteban Ocon's win - something that we didn't see much of apart from a few onboard shots and the final celebrations. They also discuss - why did Hamilton not pit during the restart? Were teams-drivers permitted to discuss tyre changes during the restart? What if Carlos Sainz Jr. had pitted when Ferrari actually wanted him to pit? And of course, why could Sainz Jr. not pit despite knowing that Hamilton would pit? News of Sebastian Vettel's disqualification & Aston Martin Racing's appeal came through while recording this episode - so why exactly was Vettel disqualified? Why does the FIA require a fuel sample from all the competitors? There are several questions answered in this episode. And of course, Sundaram delivers his classic stats review. Tune in! OMG! Almost no one saw that coming. The French Grand Prix actually entertained Formula 1 fans! As Kunal said, "The 2021 French Grand Prix has raised bar and how for all the French Grands Prix to follow in the next century." But WHAT IF Max Verstappen had not made the opening lap error at Turn 1 and kept the lead, would the 2021 French Grand Prix have been less entertaining? In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil joins Kunal to review the epic race at Circuit Paul Ricard. A race that saw all 20 drivers finish AND not a single yellow flag! Why did Red Bull Racing-Verstappen stop twice despite having the lead & track position? Also, how did VER undercut HAM in the race? Oh, just how powerful was the undercut AND of course, Mercedes desperately need to sharpen their race strategy skills. For the third race in a row, HAM's lost track position in the pit-stops. Also in this episode - the racy Mclarens, Lando Norris' race to fifth, the RIC-NOR swap that we missed on the world feed, Sergio Perez's play as VER's wingman & taking points off Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship, Valtteri Bottas' expletive-laden radio, Aston Martin Racing's alternate strategy & Ferrari's tyre degradation. The French Grand Prix is the ONE race that almost every fan fears. Okay, maybe Abu Dhabi as well. For all the history associated with France and Grand Prix racing, the Circuit Paul Ricard almost always fails to deliver a worthy race. Circuit Paul Ricard is a bit of a standout in many ways - the sheer number of circuit configurations, sprinkler systems, red-blue run-off areas and so on. While the circuit is great for testing, is it really worth going to for a Formula 1 race? Well, now that we're here for the third time in this era, let's look at some of the stories that could light up the weekend. Mercedes-Hamilton will be itching to bounce back & regain momentum in the title battle against Red Bull Racing-Verstappen. Will the FIA's new Technical Directive with regards to using the Pirelli tyres impact the intense title battle we have witnessed yet? Can Perez score back-to-back wins for RBR before Verstappen? As for Aston Martin Racing, they made their Grand Prix debut 99 years ago at the French Grand Prix. Will they be able to drive the momentum built in Monaco & Baku to further heights in France? And of course, there's the Mclaren vs. Ferrari battle in the mid-field along with Alpine, AlphaTauri and maybe even Alfa Romeo. There's a lot of narratives to look forward to this weekend but nothing will replace a classic race on-track. May the Racing Gods bless us all. Tune in! After most races at Monaco, the typical question is - should we continue to race on the streets of Monte Carlo? The 2021 Monaco Grand Prix has brought this question back into focus. However, it's time we don't blame the track. In fact, if there's one blame we can lay on the organisers, it would be their shoddy TV direction throughout the 78-lap race. Of course, even a world-class TV director wouldn't have managed to save us from the boredom the race inflicted, but there were several positive narratives from the weekend. In this Pits to Podium segment of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil and Kunal review the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix. The duo discuss why the cars are more to blame than the tight-twisty and narrow layout of the Circuit de Monaco. Should Ferrari have changed Charles Leclerc's gearbox out of precaution? Isn't starting the race from 6th place better than not starting at all? What would you have done if you were the decision-maker at Ferrari? Also in this episode: Mercedes' botched pit stop + race strategy, the power of the overcut, Pierre Gasly's 78-lap defence on Lewis Hamilton, the return of vintage Sebastian Vettel and Aston Martin Racing's smart race strategy, Carlos Sainz Jr.-Lando Norris' podium bromance, why Hamilton struggled and of course, Sundaram's kick-ass stats from the race. Then the series is off for a week before returning for two weekends at Silverstone, and then to Spa and Monza for their previously scheduled weekends.Where the series goes from there is up in the air, but there’s the possibility of two races in Sochi, and two races in Bahrain. Additionally, Algarve in Portugal is in negotiations to host a race with both Mugello and Imola both being looked at by FOM.Race weekends will look different - with no fans in attendance there won’t be a drivers parade, fewer people on the grid, and no podium ceremonies either.FOM has no intention of cancelling races if team personnel test positive for Covid-19, even a driver testing positive won’t cause FOM to cancel a race - but that doesn’t mean that a team won’t withdraw…Cars are hitting the track too - with several teams electing for either filming days with their 2020 cars, or “unlimited” running with cars that are two years old - except McLaren, they’re not doing anything.Could Sebastian Vettel be headed to Aston Martin Racing for 2021? Probably not….Aston Martin Racing’s new facility at Silverstone has been delayed a year. And Ross Brawn says that there won’t be a new engine manufacturer coming to F1 before 2026.
