When individuals want to take action on climate, it's often in the form of electrifying a home, voting, or maybe even traditional activism. Those are very important, but we often overlook how individual skills and talents can also make a difference. This week we're highlighting creative forms of climate action. Pattie Gonia is a drag queen, environmentalist and advocate for inclusivity and diversity in the outdoors who struts their message through national parks, in Pride events, and through the halls of Congress. Mike Roberts and Will Hammond Jr. wrote a sultry R&B song that will change the way you think about heat pumps… and an equally stimulating song about the power of geothermal energy. Together, they remind us that we don't always have to take ourselves too seriously in order for our work to be meaningful and have impact. This episode originally aired on February 7, 2025. Guests: Pattie Gonia, Drag queen; Environmentalist Mike Roberts, Musician; Climate advocate Will Hammond Jr., Educator; Musician Pattie Gonia image credits Mitchell Overton and Maxwell Poth. On July 31, Climate One is hosting Premal Shah and Kinari Webb for a live episode recording! Welcome to Healing with Kink!
Things reached breaking point. And then… everything changed. This week on the Happy Families Podcast, Justin and Kylie share a raw and transformative parenting story from their own home—a story of tough love, compassion, and the unexpected joy that emerged when one of their children went screen-free. If you've ever wrestled with screen-time battles, wondered whether stepping in might do more harm than good, or felt at a loss watching your child withdraw behind a phone… this is the episode you need to hear. KEY POINTS: Not all kids respond to screens the same way—some are more deeply affected mentally, socially, and physically. Despite multiple conversations, one of Justin and Kylie’s children struggled to reduce screen use on her own. Justin made the tough call to temporarily remove the smartphone, despite knowing it would be met with resistance. The decision was supported with compassion, calm, and a consistent message of love and presence. Within days, they saw remarkable emotional and relational transformation. The child herself later initiated a conversation to renegotiate her phone use, ultimately choosing to remove social media apps and suggest her own boundaries. The family experienced a visible increase in connection, laughter, and joy—without screens. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE:"With enough scaffolding, with enough support, with enough conversation around why sometimes we as parents are going to make decisions that the children may not agree with… the children are able to deal with and respond to these challenges in much more productive ways." – Justin Coulson RESOURCES MENTIONED: “The Doctor’s Desk” podcast episode #1270 mentioned a study on improved wellbeing after removing smartphone internet access. Study from 'Nature' happyfamilies.com.au for more resources on parenting and screen time. Parental Guidance Season 3 starts Monday June 30 on Channel 9 — new episodes discussed throughout the week on the podcast. ✅ ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS: Trust your instincts – If screen use is affecting your child’s wellbeing, don't ignore the signs. Lead with compassion – Any intervention should be anchored in calm, empathy, and connection. Scaffold the change – Offer alternatives, create structure, and maintain open communication. Invite their input – When emotions settle, include your child in designing new tech boundaries. Watch for the joy – Pay attention to the surprising upside: more laughter, connection, and peace. Going viral might get you noticed. But consistency is what makes you unforgettable. And no one proves that better than Alix Earle, a TikTok star who turned daily “Get Ready With Me” videos into a personal media empire. In this episode, we're pulling marketing lessons from Alix's rise with the help of Elizabeth Strickert, Director of Content Marketing at A-LIGN.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from staying consistent, growing with (not past) your audience, and making content that's actually fun to create.About our guest, Elizabeth StrickertElizabeth Strickert is Director of Content Marketing at tech-enabled cybersecurity and compliance company A-LIGN. There, Elizabeth is leading content, thought leadership, comms & customer marketing. She has overhauled their SEO program, resulting in top 10 ranking for high-difficulty, high-volume keywords. She also led the creation of an annual benchmark report, reaching 3 million+ impressions. She leverages internal thought leaders for social media, videos, webinars, speaking opps and written content. She previously served as Director of Communications & Content at Ekos and Marketing Communications Manager at Passport. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Alix Earle:Consistency builds credibility. Viral moments come and go, but Alix Earle's staying power lies in her relentless consistency. No shortcuts, just commitment. It's a reminder that content success isn't just about innovation; it's about endurance. Elizabeth says, “Alix, not only did she get rewarded from doing that, she was on TikTok for a long time before she really got big. But even since making it, she's still posting multiple times a day. She is just there doing it, grinding. All the time.” In B2B, the same rule applies: keep posting, keep showing up.Honor your origin story. Growth doesn't mean forgetting who got you there. Alix still makes the content that first drew her audience in, while smartly layering in new formats. In B2B, you must evolve, but stay grounded. Elizabeth reminds us, “You gotta remember who got you here. You gotta remember your core customer base. You gotta remember the people who you know are…the ones that pay the bills.” Make sure to have a balance, especially as you scale.Find the fun and show it. Audiences can feel when you're enjoying what you're creating. It's what makes content magnetic. Alix's success didn't just come from consistency, it came from joy. She leaned into the formats that were fun for her, and her audience leaned in too. Elizabeth puts it plainly: “When someone is excited about the things they're making, it automatically makes them more interesting. And we just have to lean on that.” In B2B, it's easy to default to polished, sanitized messaging. But the real key is letting your content creators tap into what actually excites them. If your team thinks it's boring, your audience will too.Quotes“ We think, B2B, it needs to be polished, it needs to be sanitized. But the story is the interesting part. That's where someone can relate to it. That's where somebody can get hooked in. That's why you care. And I think a lot of times we forget about that.”“We want B2B content to be polished. Sanitized. But the story — that's the interesting part. That's what people actually relate to. We forget that too often. The story is why people care.”“ I think it's good to be a consumer. As a marketer, you're putting content out in the world, you need to consume it. But…you don't need to be going to a B2B workshop. You can watch TikTok. You can watch people like Alix Earle and other folks and get inspiration from what their doing. You can look at what YouTubers are doing. Everything people are doing is a marketing decisions and there's things you can take away from that.”“Influencers start off because they thought, ‘Oh, it'd be kind of fun to make a video.' That's the initial nugget. And as marketers who, for a living, have chosen to create content and do marketing. We also need to think, ‘Hey, it'd be a little fun to make a video.' That's where the start of it has to come from.”Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Elizabeth Strickert, Director of Content Marketing at A-LIGN[01:03] Why Alix Earle?[01:56] The Role of Director of Content Marketing at A-LIGN[02:29] The Rise of Alix Earl[13:41] Relatability and Authenticity in Influencer Marketing[21:07] The Power of Parasocial Influence[29:02] B2B Marketing Takeaways From Alix Earle[45:59] A-LIGN's Content Strategy[47:32] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Elizabeth on LinkedInLearn more about A-LIGNAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Today, I'm joined by Beck Goodman who is an early childhood learning expert specializing in early literacy. Her company's mission is to end the preschool power struggles around learning by equipping grownups with the tools they need to use play-based approaches that foster connection, not conflict. We discuss joy and child interest as the cornerstone to supporting early literacy development. Highlights: Silliness as a Tool for Engagement: Beck emphasizes the power of silliness—whether it's making up ridiculous words with magnetic letters or engaging in playful language games. Children are naturally silly—let's embrace that playfulness. Using Children's Interests to Drive Learning: Both Beck and Laura discuss the importance of leaning into a child's interest and disinterest. Whether it's saying yes to a request for ketchup at mealtime or experimenting with different ways to engage a child during literacy activities, honoring what excites them can build trust and create more opportunities for learning. Letting Children Take the Lead: Learn how to avoid power struggles and encourage more collaborative problem-solving. Laura and Beck discuss how giving children a voice in problem-solving situations can help build autonomy and investment in the learning process. If you've ever wondered how to meet children where they are and embrace their interests and silliness, this episode is for you. Beck's strategies will help you navigate the delicate balance between structured learning and free play, ultimately creating an environment where children feel empowered to explore language and literacy on their terms. There are 3 spots left in my mastermind! Grab your spot! Building a business is about more than just making money. It should also bring you joy, fulfillment, and alignment with your values. Last year I found myself overwhelmed, burnt out, and disconnected from the passion that led me to start their business. Let's explore how to shift your energy, streamline your workload, and create a business that truly supports your well-being. The first step is awareness. How do you feel when you're working? Are there tasks that excite you, and others that drain you? Notice where stress shows up in your body. Do you feel tension in your chest when tackling certain tasks? Do you get anxious before meetings or deadlines? Are you excited about some projects but dreading others? When you recognize what's causing stress or anxiety, you can take action. Can you outsource tasks that drain you? Can you restructure your schedule to include more of what energizes you? Identifying these patterns is the key to building a sustainable and fulfilling business. Are you constantly thinking about your business, even in your free time? Ask yourself: What's causing me the most stress right now? Are financial pressures making my business feel heavy? Do I have too many commitments that don't align with my goals? Am I lacking clarity on my next steps? Once you pinpoint the biggest sources of stress, brainstorm solutions. Whether it's simplifying your offers, adjusting your pricing, or streamlining your systems, small changes can lead to big relief. Entrepreneur and author Gay Hendricks, in The Big Leap, talks about the importance of spending time in your Zone of Genius—the work that feels effortless and exciting for you. Instead of getting stuck in tasks you're merely competent at, strive to spend more time doing what lights you up. Some questions to consider: When does work not feel like work? What tasks make you feel energized rather than drained? Can you delegate or eliminate work that isn't in your zone of genius? Focusing on your unique strengths and passions will make your business feel less like a grind and more like a creative, fulfilling endeavor. Your productivity and energy levels fluctuate throughout the month and day. Instead of forcing yourself to be “on” all the time, honor your natural cycles. For example, if you notice that certain phases of your cycle (or times of the day) make you feel sluggish or unmotivated, avoid scheduling high-energy tasks during those periods. Instead, batch creative work when you're feeling inspired and schedule admin tasks for lower-energy times. If you struggle with hormonal shifts that impact your mood and focus, consider structuring your business in a way that allows for more flexibility. This could mean: Limiting client calls during low-energy phases Scheduling deep work sessions during high-focus times Giving yourself permission to rest without guilt Your business should support your well-being, not deplete it. If you're feeling uninspired, it might be time to reconnect with activities outside of work. Hobbies and creative outlets fuel joy, and they can even make you more productive in your business. Think back to what you loved as a kid or teenager. Were you into photography, music, writing, or crafting? Have you stopped doing those things because you feel like they're “not productive”? How are you spending your time outside of work? If you find yourself endlessly scrolling social media, constantly feeling the need to “be productive,” or neglecting self-care, it's time to reassess. Instead of doom-scrolling, try: Taking a walk outside Meditating or praying Reading a book Doing a hands-on hobby like crocheting or baking I'd love to hear how you bring joy into your business! Send me a message on Instagram @christijohnsoncreative or email me at christi@christijohnsoncreative.com. Let's build joyful, sustainable businesses together!

Joy is a gift given from God to those who choose to unite with Him. This great gift is what provides foundation and stability in good times as well as bad. How, though, does God fill us with this joy? While several answers could be given to this question, one important way is through our associations with fellow believers. Indeed, throughout the New Testament, there are several occasions where one is described as filling another with joy. This is an awesome privilege and responsibility given by God; thus, His followers must be prepared to be conduits of the joy He provides. This sermon will explore this great opportunity given to God's people. This study will focus on how this is done and the preparation necessary to be a fit vessel for this service. A sermon given by Greg Chandler on August 4, 2024.

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with one of my favorite people in Palisade and beyond, Kristen Seymour. Kristen and I chat about how her two local businesses, Harlow and The Merc, tie into Palisade's history, what she'd change if she could start over again, whether she was expecting to be honored with both business of the year and person of the year recognition by the Palisade Chamber of Commerce, and her goals and ambitions as a small business owner in Palisade. Kristen shares the path that brought her to Palisade, how raising kids here is different from the other places her family has lived, what Palisade does right and what could use a little more work, and the awesome power of locals supporting local businesses in the off-season. More about Harlow and The Merc.

I want The Joy Project to be authentic, and that includes acknowledging the reality that when you ask for something (like more joy in your life), the universe goes to work making it happen... But that can also mean that things need to get shaken up first. Some things that you've avoided dealing with will come to the surface to be dealt with. This is you making the energetic space in your body and your auric field so you have room to ACCEPT what you asked for! So we're just going to be honest with ourselves as we go through The Joy Project. We don't have to only share joy itself; we can also share the JOURNEY and the reality that it's not always easy. But the most important thing is to lean into trust that joy is here, joy is coming, that we deserve to feel joy, that we are capable of receiving and fully accepting that energy. Be authentic, and keep your eyes on the goal of creating more joy in your life! Follow along or go ahead and please PLAY along by using #thejoyproject or #TheJoyProject in your own posts!
