What do you do after you've had one successful first-person zombie game that is owned by a publisher? You don't develop the proper sequel in that series and you instead make your own version of that thing. We're going back to 2015 to look at a first-person zombie action survival game. We're talking Dying Light. On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we take a look at Techland finding their niche in the zombie world with Dead Island, before their relationship with that game's publisher ended. We also discuss a a very good tagline that was almost definitely inspired by George Clooney; an announcement trailer that was almost definitely inspired by Peep Show; a world-building trailer that was almost definitely inspired by those poetry adverts; Techland's answer to a housing crisis; and battering punching bags in the car park. Here are some of the things you're gonna hear us chat about in our review: the vicious, running Volatile zombies give chase at night; GTA 4 police radar; fairly uninteresting nighttime sneaking; waiting hours to rub zombie guts on yourself a la The Walking Dead to blend in; enemies are attracted to sound, but you have no way to regulate the noise the protagonist makes, but you can throw firecrackers; crossbows come in handy with humans; swinging all manner of melee weapons at the heads of the undead; an uninviting crafting menu that makes you wait for your items; no fun human battles; fluid parkour (once you've levelled up and bought skills like “slide on the ground”) that gets the David Belle seal of approval; Mirror's Edge; the grappling hook; the skill trees; slower first-person platforming puzzles; a decent Escape from New York-style setup that is let down by some terribly boring characters; American saviour Kyle Crane and his very quick turn to good; and a contained zombie outbreak. After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether Dying Light is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Shadow of Rome on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS
We are back again to try merging the skills and qualities of some of the best at what they do to make the ultimate hypothetical parkour athlete. It seems like a fun mental exercise, but the boys struggle to agree. The podcast videos are now publicly available on a separate Storror Podcast channel. Rik Mehta, healthcare law professor at Georgetown university, joins us to discuss the COVID pandemic. Mehta is an entrepreneur, pharmacist, and former candidate for U.S. senate in New Jersey. The World Health Organization has come under scrutiny for the way it shielded the Chinese Communist Party from criticism in the early stages of the pandemic. Now the W.H.O could be postured to be a major voice in the United States for how future pandemics are handled. To weigh in, we have David Belle, former medical officer at the W.H.O and now a senior scholar at the Brownstone Institute.

linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This February at Catching Up On Cinema is “NOT Made in America” month! All month long we'll be reviewing foreign films that have garnered American remakes. This week, Trevor forces Kyle to join him in reviewing Pierre Morel's, District B13 (2004)! The feature directorial debut of Luc Besson protege Morel, this French import is notable for serving as one of the earliest and most prominent showcases of parkour in mainstream film. Starring one of the founders of the art form, David Belle, as well as fellow as traceur and stunt maestro Cyril Raffaelli, the film is lean, fast paced, and occasionally breathtaking in instances where the dialogue takes a backseat to acrobatics and techno music. While far from perfect, and difficult to recommend to all but the most ardent of action movie fans, the film is nevertheless memorable as an important bullet point in the history and progression of trends mid-2000's action cinema.

We talk about Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the things you missed if you never read the comics. Learn about Nick Fury, Zola, Falcon, Shield, Hydra, parkour, and more! Talk with us on Twitter. Links from the discussion… Georges St-Pierre plays Batroc the Leaper at the beginning of the movie. Captain America orders the shutdown of Shield in this movie. Alexander Pierce is pretty insignificant in the comics. Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier closely mirrors the comics. Jarvis thinks Maria Hill should have taken Black Widow's place in this movie. Parkour was invented by David Belle in Paris in-between the time the first and second Captain America movies are set. That one weird time that Steve Rogers was an agent of Hydra.
Come join us as we talk about the 2014 film 'Brick Mansions.' This film stars the late Paul Walker, RZA and the founder of parkour David Belle. This film is a remake of the French film 'District 13' and it clearly shows why remakes are not always a great idea.

“...the sea's only gifts are harsh blows and, occasionally, the chance to feel strong. Now, I don't know much about the sea, but I do know that that's the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once, to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions, facing blind, deaf stone alone, with nothing to help you but your own hands and your own head...” -an excerpt from 'Bear Meat' by Primo Levi. The sport of parkour has spent the last decade spreading like wildfire across the globe. We see it in television, movies, and video games. Training facilities are cropping up in nearly every major city and parkour's top athletes and teams usually have tens of thousands (or up to millions) of followers and subscribers on social media. Like anything else that experiences an explosive rise in popularity and public access, parkour has gone through some drastic changes since the days of it's humble conception. While the physicality and technical skill of the athletes have been improving exponentially, many of the most beneficial and crucial components of parkour have been largely neglected. Today we talk with Thomas Couetdic who began his parkour practice in the very early days alongside Stephane Vigroux and David Belle. Back then, the goal was total self cultivation, a dedicated pursuit of antifragility across all domains. Whether it was working on extreme endurance, cold tolerance, combative situations, or jumping from rooftop to rooftop, the chief aim was to become comfortable with facing the uncomfortable, and in doing so, create a deeper sense of self trust, meaning and purpose in their lives. This is the soul of parkour that is accessible to all people, you may never kong vault or hit a roof gap, but whether you're a world class athlete or dealing with a lifelong disability, the process of facing adversity and transcending limitations can be owned and practiced at every level. Stephane Vigroux can speak to this personally, in 2001 right before parkour exploded into mainstream consciousness Stephane tore his knee during a shoot for Nike. This was one of the earliest commerical shoots for parkour and at that time Stephane was one of the top athletes on the orginal Traceurs team. The Traceurs were the team David Belle had founded after leaving the Yamakasi. Stephane had been training day and night with David for years attaining an incredible level, but on that day he did not listen to his body telling him it was done he took a jump he knew he should not and tore his ACL, the surgery was badly done and had to be redone. He was unable to train and largely abandoned by his friends in the traceurs. It took years for Stephane to fully recover but he did! He regained his level began training with Williams Belle and the Yamakasi and then co-founded Parkour Generations the first group to popularize parkour coaching on a global scale and who reintroduced the Yamakasi to the global community. Currently Stephane is the director of Parkour DXB which is bringing parkour to Dubai. In this episode we dig deep into. 1. The history of parkour 2. What parkour is 3. How it evolved 4. How it was once a much broader approach to movement 5. How parkour is way of seeking truth and uncovering your own charecter 6. The why of training 7. How to overcome big challenges through the breaking the jump process A. Feeling the call of the jump B. Assessing the jump C. Feeling the Fear D. Overcoming the fear E. Deciding F. Acting 8. How to know your aligned in taking a jump and in your life 9. How to overcome your fear 10. The concept of task based training & why it is important in movement training Mentioned in the episode Julie Angel's The Monkey is Back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4mZf... Podcasting winter is coming. (Sorry, yes, we are nerds.)Trader Interview - Hakon Fuglaas of K2 Trading - How to Turn from Failure to Success in TradingHakon Fuglaas started trading at age 16 and, like many new traders, quickly blew through several accounts. This interview is the story of how he turned it around in record time.Clearly Hakon is the kind of guy who learns from his mistakes and he turned his youthful enthusiasm into a disciplined trading methodology. By the time he was 19 he was managing $2.5m and well on the way to becoming a trading guru.Hakon first came to prominence on eToro, where he became one of their most copied traders with combined equity under management of $2.5m. He now runs K2 Trading where he provides education and mentorship, but he hasn’t stopped refining his own trading system.Simple Trading with a Good Mindset - Easy!He firmly believes that he became successful after he simplified his trading and focussed on his mindset. By removing the fear of loss and by ‘trading in the zone’ through the use of sensible risk management, he could start to see consistent profits. It is amazing how many times the consistently profitable traders we have on the show talk about mindset, risk management and money management as being the keys to long term profit. Hakon Fuglaas of K2 Trading is no different.COT DataNow, having a simple trading system does not mean having an unsophisticated trading system!Hakon piqued Owen’s interest with mention of the Commitment of Traders (COT) data. David Belle mentioned this briefly many moons ago. Although The Blokes looked into it at the time, now, with a bit more experience under their belts, they feel that this could be worth applying to their own trading. In other words, what are the people whose job it is to speculate on the Forex markets doing? And what about the people whose job it is to hedge long term (i.e. large corporations and governmental organisations)? For Hakon’s long term Position Trading he believes he needs to know what the commercial traders are doing, rather than the people trying to make money in the short term. It seems to Hakon (and we agree!) that if you know this, you may have a big leg up with predicting where the market will go next.Do Your Own Research etcAs ever, never trade something just because someone told you to. Owen will be going away and doing some secret squirrel work on the COT data. Feel free to do the same.Watch this space for Owen’s research findings in a few weeks.
I discuss the basics of trading with experienced trader @__db____ . We discuss what got him into trading, what trading actually entails, the misconceptions, it's importance to the economy & how central banks impact the markets!

Under Mayor David Belle Isle’s leadership, Alpharetta has become Georgia’s hometown, the 6th fastest growing city in the country, the Technology City of the South, the nation’s 7th friendliest city according to Forbes, and has consistently maintained the lowest unemployment rate in Georgia. This has been achieved by a focus on reinventing Alpharetta’s Downtown and the drive to be the number one technology city in the Southeast. In 2015, Alpharetta was also named The #1 City in America for Women Entrepreneurs, and the #1 City in America to Start a Business. Mission: Mayor David Belle Isle shares that each leader needs a "vision worth the chase". Seeking a downtown that could bring the community together, he first ran for city council in 2006. Despite two failed attempts, he eventually was able to make the progress needed to bring the project to life. A thriving downtown led to thriving businesses, which sparked a surge in entrepreneurship. Today, Alpharetta boasts over 600 technology companies; the highest concentration in the Southeast. Mindset: Branding Alpharetta as the Technology City of the South was a challenge at first because it required gaining the respect among its city neighbors as the leader in tech. Marketing: Mayor David Belle Isle shares the story of when he say Governor Nathan Deal speak about Alpharetta's contribution to the technology sector. It was in that moment that he realized that the branding and messaging was striking a cord. Momentum: Under Mayor David Belle Isle's leadership, Alpharetta's Technology Commission was created and has opened an Innovation Center for local tech startups. The Center has already gained momentum by graduating its first company. Moving forward, he looks to offer opportunities on a higher level, such as venture capital, industry conferences, and much more. Masterminds: Several members of the Mastermind Tribe submitted questions for the Mayor. Listen as he answers YOUR questions and join the Mastermind Tribe Facebook Group for opportunities to submit your own questions to future interviewees. Mastermind Challenge: I love Mayor David Belle Isle's comment about a vision worth the chase. Today, I encourage you to dream just a little bigger and stretch outside of your comfort zone to imagine what vision is worth your chase. Just as his journey was executed one step at a time, yet has touched thousands, how can you take step today towards your big impact?
Belle & Sebastian co-founder Stuart David is the author of the critically acclaimed In the All-Night Café: A Memoir of Belle and Sebastian's Formative Year, which came out this year, and the Pogues' longtime accordionist James Fearnley is the author of the candid, vivid and appropriately rip-roaring Here Comes Everybody: The Story of the Pogues (2012). The two author-musicians discuss the tricky matter of writing about your bandmates, the vagaries of memory and taking out the bits that make you look like a knobhead. And there might just be an anecdote or two.
