So one of the habits of speech Kṛṣṇa talks about is speaking beneficially. Have you ever said anything to anybody in your household that wasn't beneficial? I'll take that as a yes. There may be a way in which, even towards, I heard this saying once. I don't know if it's true, but it sounds true to me, 'you only hurt the ones you love.' There may be a way in which you could say things out of a sense of being dissatisfied or grouchy, and may say something mean, mean-spirited to somebody, even somebody that you don't mean to say it to. And if you learn how to curb that tendency to say hurtful things, and you also filter before you speak and think is this beneficial, what I'm saying, it's one of the filters you can put on and you practice that. These kinds of practices, including body, mind, satisfaction, and speech, which is especially beneficial because this is one of the great secrets of becoming a better person and getting the highest, developing your full potential in life. You didn't hear it here first, probably, but it's worth repeating. There's a verse from an ancient Purāṇa that says that all spiritual advancement and all development of your potential in life comes from your tongue. The tongue is the gateway sense. Bhāgavatam says, if you can control the tongue, then you know that all your senses are controlled. And if you can't control your tongue, then you can be sure that the other senses aren't controlled yet. So there's a way in which, if you carefully audit what you're going to say to make sure that it's beneficial, one aspect, there's other aspects, when keeping it simple. Just by that practice, developing that habit, it'll have a systemic effect on your life. Those are three habits that one might develop to gain this spiritual strength through which one can overcome the strong urges that push us to do things that we didn't really intend to do and aren't good for us, but we do it anyway. Change is the deepest dream of the human heart. We'd all like to become someone new. The first word that comes to mind is resolution whenever we talk about welcoming New Year or saying bye to the past year. Somehow, I never felt any connection or excitement in this word. I do believe in change or exciting things. But this word puts me under pressure. Then what do I call them? I call it promises. Do you make NY resolutions? Or you are like me? Let me tell you why I do not make new year's resolutions; I promise myself to develop good habits! 5 steps to develop good habits: First, we have to Define the person we want to become Then we have to Create the right environment for it. Now is the time to Start with the two-minute rule: If following the new habit, even for two minutes, seems complicated, it needs to be broken into mini-habits. Focus on daily success: Every small step towards your new habit is an achievement. Do not ignore them. How to Develop Good Habits in Children - Qasim Ali Shah.
Too often we moms get distracted by the smaller parenting issue right in front of us, missing the BIGGER, LONG-TERM issue behind it that matters even more than the immediate frustration or difficulty with our child. Or, sometimes, in an effort to deal with this immediate issue, we don't realize we are sacrificing the bigger priority. This parenting gig can be COMPLICATED. Today, in episode 137, I'm going to help you sort some of this out. We're going to get a long-term view about the immediate issue, focusing on making the most of the immediate issue by using it to DEVELOP GOOD HABITS for the long-term. Getting them to clean their rooms is one of those issues that is like that. Yes, having a clean room matters, but not at the expense of our relationship with them, SO... how can we do both - how can we use the issue of messy bedroom to develop some LIFE HABITS and keep your relationship in tact as well? Let's talk about it today on the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast. Listen to episode 137 and let's break it down into smaller, doable steps. You see, it's not really about getting their room clean at this moment. What matters is taking this moment to move the room forward in a way that equips them more with positive HABITS regarding taking care of themselves and their things. AND, ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT, our bigger goals are about their hearts and our relationship with them. Are there ways that accomplish all of this at the same time? Yes. There are ways to FOCUS on what really matters while getting the general RESULTS we need for this moment as well. "Lasso Your Life" is an occasional series on the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast in which we take a deeper dive into a particular mom responsibility and find some ways to SIMPLIFY and get a system for this responsibility so we REDUCE our TIME and MENTAL EFFORT on this "have to" to free us up to focus on what really matters - the hearts and minds of our kids and RELATIONSHIP STRENGTH. Here's some more episodes from the Lasso Your Life Series:Episode 5 "Getting Kids to Listen the First Time & Following Up After a Chore"Episode 7 "Work Ethic & the Habit of Happiness in Littles, Middles, & Teens. Habits make up most of our day-to-day activities. Whether it is going to the gym, reading a book, watching tv, or checking social media. We have habits that we love. Though, just because we may love them, that does not mean we are proud of all of them. A great book to educate yourself on good habits is a book called Atomic Habits by James clear. In today's episode of Every Man, I discuss two topics from the book: Cues that lead to habits and Habit Stacking. Every Man Needs Good Habits. You can start building those good habits today. Success comes from discipline and consistency. In today's episode of The Real Estate Sales Podcast, Jimmy provides 22 different things you can do to develop good habits that will lead to business growth when done over time. Send a thank-you note to start your day with gratitude. A growing database means a growing business, so add people to your database. Set up an automated email property detail to a prospect to ensure they continually see homes they might like. Email someone a property off the hot sheet for a specifically targeted opportunity. Prepare and mail a CMA each day. A prospect will be more likely to trust someone who prepares this resource for them. Find new listings by sending unsolicited video CMAs to prospects in your database. Connect and add contacts on social media to connect more personally. Post “help me out” posts on social media to attract interested parties to homes. You'll be more likely to gain referrals and testimonials when you check in on past clients. Private message “Happy Birthday” to a prospect rather than post in their general feed to kick off a conversation. Add a photo to your Google My Business profile. (To learn how to set that up, listen to this previous episode.) Look at and preview homes on the market in your area. If someone pops into your mind, send a quick video to them. Practice and execute a phone script to improve your conversion rates. Call an aged expired listing. When a house sells, call the neighbors to offer the details of their home evaluation. Send mails to the neighbors of “just sold” homes. They might be interested in selling once they realize the increase in equity. Find 50 people near a recently sold home and leave voicemails to each of them (for only about $5.) Slybroadcast allows you to record one voicemail and drop it into prospects' inboxes automatically. Send a request for an online review to past clients by creating authority for your business. Call for sale by owners. They're ready to sell but just haven't found the right realtor yet. The best way to improve yourself is to consume at least 15 minutes of training each day. Shoot “FAQ” videos to answer buyers' and sellers' questions before them ask them. In reality, you won't be able to do all of these things every day. But if you focus one on the few that best fit your business and location, you'll be sure to find the success and business growth you deserve. Do you have a video or content idea that is perfect for your business? Share it with Jimmy! Connect with Jimmy Burgess on LinkedIn and Facebook and his YouTube channel. This week, we are talking about courage. But what exactly is courage? Is it the absence of fear? Actually, you can have fear and be courageous at the same time. Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.”1 This is the classic definition of courage, the quality that moves people to act in spite of a threat to their own safety. It was why Charles C. Hagemeister was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions in Vietnam in 1967. Hagemeister was a medic. His platoon was attacked one night. During the seven and a half hour engagement, Hagemeister repeatedly faced enemy fire to reach the wounded and deliver aid, saving several lives.2 Helping his fellow soldiers was more important than his own safety. Most of us do not face bullets in our lives. But we can face ridicule for our faith. In a similar way, our courage to tell others about the reason for our hope, begins with setting the lordship of Jesus as more important than our comfort. As 1 Peter 3:14-15 says, “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.' But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. “(NIV) Connie Stemmle, "Courage is Not the Absence of Fear: 3 Lessons from This Quote," Develop Good Habits.Com, https://www.developgoodhabits.com/courage-absence-fear/Congressional Medal of Honor Society, "Medal of Honor Recipient Charles C. In today's episode, I am going to share some more golden nuggets from James Clear's book Atomic Habits. In his book, James explains a very simple voting system that allows us to reframe how we look at habits. In the simplest forms, the more that we perform a certain habit, the more of 'that type of person' we become. For example...If I decide that I am a person who is into fitness...the more that I put effort into my fitness (such as each time that I work out), the more that I get to put these mental votes into becoming that type of person. The less of the habits that I perform that contribute to being into fitness, the less of that type of person I become. Tune in as I share the EASIEST ways for you to implement this system into your own life and how to finally become the person that you've always wanted to be based on small action items that make a MASSIVE impact. This number will tell you how many ounces of water you should be drinking daily. Divide this number by 8 to calculate how many cups that is a day. Example: Weight: 128 lbs/2 = 64 ounces of water 64/8 = 8 cups of water per day If you drink 1 cup of coffee, or caffeinated beverage, add an addition cup of water to your 8 cups... Promise: How to Use Habits to Build a Successful Self-Publishing Business My promise is that I am going to tell you how to use, basically, habits to help build a successful self-publishing business. I don’t think that I’ve done anything extraordinary. I simply follow a habit every single day, and I’ve been following that, pretty much, for the past six years. I think a lot of times, as writers, we tend to put our heads in the clouds, like, “I have this great idea. I can’t wait to feel inspired to write so that I’ll sit down and crank out 1,000 words.” That might work for a day or so, but I firmly believe that you need some sort of process.
