Nealo is a Dublin rapper and artist who is a regular on this site since first appearing in 2018. 2020's All The Leaves Are Falling was a Choice Music Prize-nominated debut album, an album exploring loss, friendship, family and the ties that keep us searching for home.Fresh from the release of new song 'Forest' with Morgana of Saint Sister on vocals, Nealo is teasing a new album at a later date, and along with last week's guest Celaviedmai, is playing at The Hennessy Hip-Hop House at Body & Soul Festival this summer. We've been talking to Nealo about getting him on the podcast for a long time, so we're delighted to finally bring him in with Niall and Andrea. On this episode we discuss what Nealo has been up to by asking him about some songs that are inspiring him and he loves right now, along with chats about making and releasing music in 2023, sobriety, going to see Post Malone, and possibly controversial opinions about Taylor Swift.Listen to the chat, or read the abbreviated choices on Nialler9.The Hennessy Hip-Hop House announces its lineup at Body & Soul Festival this June 16th to 18th at Ballinlough Castle, Co. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a frustrating draw to relegation threatened Nottingham Forest and discuss the imminent arrival of Mauricio Pochettino. In part one we discuss another poor team selection by Frank Lampard. Is he the new tinkerman or is he being told who to pick? Lampard's assessment of Chelsea being "too slow, too sideways, too safe" was spot on but is this a legacy of previous managers desire to have possession for possessions sake? More Keystone Kops defending costs Chelsea again, but we salute Sterling for scoring two good goals and eat a large dollopp of humble pie in the process. Where has he been all season though? Other than Sterling, props go to Lewis Hall, Trevoh Chalobah, Connor Gallagher and Noni Mudueka for bringing some fight and intensity to procedings. In part two we welcome Mauricio Pochettino - the dawning of a new aura, perhaps, after his strange ability to read his players 'auras'. We ask what will he bring as manager; what does he need to succeed; which players will benefit; how will he do and will it match our expectations. In part three we have a short 'In Off the Post' as we read out this week's emails. Forest gardens look and feel different than the forests farther from home or what one normally encounters on the NW Coast. Professor Chelsey Armstrong and her colleagues refer to these forests as novel ecosystems that have no natural analog - composed of communities of species that result from human agency, ecosystem engineering and the introduction of wildcrafted species from nearby regions. While Western science is catching up about these ecosystems, the original and contemporary Indigenous scientists have always known these forests have existed. Professor Chelsey Armstrong is a historical ecologist and archaeologist based out of Ts'msyen Laxyuup in northwestern British Columbia. She studies human land-use in the past and how those dynamics relate to the present — particularly towards Indigenous sovereignty and socially informed environmental justice and reclamation. Chelsey is assistant professor and director of the Historical and Ethnoecological Research (HER Lab) in Indigenous Studies at Simon Fraser University. Oct. 9 sees the release of Forest Standards Vol.2, the new album from guitarist David Lord and his second collaboration with the BIG EGO label. As with its predecessor, Lord tracked the majority of the music in Los Angeles, then finished work at his own Air House Studios. Joining him on the sessions for the second Forest Standards collection is the core band of Jeff Parker (Tortoise, Isotope 217) on guitar, drummer Chad Taylor (Chicago Underground Duo) and bassist Billy Mohler (Dolly Parton). Sam Hake adds vibraphone throughout. These two releases find Lord moving into new musical terrain, striking out on a path that is increasingly his own and increasingly singular. Veteran music critic Bill Milkowski ( DownBeat , JazzTimes ) wrote of Lord, in 2018, "This is an inventive player freed from convention, the peer pressure of conservatories or a need to fit into any competitive big town scene. He's creating on his own terms and what this rara avis comes up with here are subversive little

“I'd sit alone and watch your light My only friend through teenage nights And everything I had to know I heard it on my radio” (Radio Ga Ga: Roger Taylor, Queen, 1984) We couldn’t agree more. Radio was our friend. It united us. It forged our national identity. And it brought the world to our homes. It is often said politics, films and cricket are what bind India. Radio made that cohesion possible. In today’s episode we talk about Radio and its profound impact on our society. The iconic mournful signature tune and its history; the sabha on the eve of our independence, the legends who spoke on the airwaves, the stories of our victories in hockey and cricket and the songs and programmes that caught our imagination – we pay our homage to them. Because Radio built the new India. In spotlight we feature arguably the most versatile music composer of Indian cinema. A scholar of music who was versed with it grammar and experimented with its form in some of the landmark films, TV series and jingles of 70s and 80s. A genius who blended western classical aesthetic into Indian compositions. We end the show with our weekly reading, watching, and listening recommendations. A walk throy the Forest of Shlomp. Interesting story behind the name of that Forest, actually. It was the first Forest (not to be mistaken with a 'forest'!) to be discovered in Shlompitude Nation. The next Forest was discovered one year to the day afterwards, the Forest of Itude. It is universally accepted that the Forest of Shlomp is better, mainly for the level of fauna. Hoyever, Crimbaldwich III did nay agree and the quoyte has echoed through the ages: 'Forest of Shlomp, Forest of Itude, Ich will nayver Shlomp-me-tude'. Which, roughly translated, means 'The Forest of Shlomp has a much better array of woyldloyfe, but you can't beat the hoyl of 1 meter diameter roughly 2 moyles into the Forest of Itude when ye approych from a northernly doyrection'.

As part of Radio 3's week in the forest, Michael Berkeley talks to wildlife presenter, President of the RSPB and accomplished musician Miranda Krestovnikoff. She's dived with sharks, shown viewers how to eat roadkill, and searched for mammoth bones in the North Sea. The co-presenter of ten series of Coast, Miranda's also a regular on The One Show and Radio 4's Costing the Earth. As well as the RSPB she's involved in numerous other environmental and wildlife charities. She tells Michael about staying up all night waiting for pine martens in a Scottish forest, and a frightening experience diving with sharks. But she's also a talented musician - a flautist, pianist, and singer who plays with the New Bristol Sinfonia and sings in choirs in the city. We hear a recording of Miranda singing a Duruflé motet with the Bristol University Singers and from other composers whose music she has performed - Holst, Vaughan Williams, and Rachmaninoff, whose All Night Vigil was played at her wedding. And we hear a piece that combines her love of music and birds - Martinů's Sonata for Flute and Piano - the piece that inspired her as a young flautist and which also features the song of a nightjar. Producer: Jane Greenwood A Loftus production for BBC Radio 3 In midsummer week, Radio 3 enters one of the most potent sources of the human imagination. 'Into the Forest' explores the enchantment, escape and magical danger of the forest in summer, with slow radio moments featuring the sounds of the forest, allowing time out from today's often frenetic world.

David Starkey, Chris Stamatakis and Diarmaid MacCulloch discuss ‘Thomas Wyatt - The Heart’s Forest’ by Susan Brigden as part of the TORCH Book Series Winner of the 2012 Wolfson History Prize, 'The Heart’s Forest' is a biography of renaissance poet Thomas Wyatt, which reveals the fascinating history of his life in Henry VIII's court. His poetry held a mirror to this secret, capricious world, and alluded darkly to events which it was dangerous for him to mention. Thomas Wyatt (1503-1542) was the first modern voice in English poetry. His poetry holds a mirror to the secret, capricious world of Henry VIII's court, and alludes darkly to events which it might be death to describe. In the Tower, twice, Wyatt was betrayed and betrayer. But this original biography is much more than a conventional life. It is an evocation of Wyatt among his friends and his enemies, at princely courts in England, Italy, France and Spain, or alone in contemplative retreat. Using new research, Susan Brigden aims to show Wyatt in all his diversity, exploring his love, faith and politics and the beginnings of Reformation England. Above all, this new biography is attuned to Wyatt's dissonant voice and broken lyre, his paradoxical inwardness and will to 'make plain' his heart, revealing a complex, elusive, endlessly fascinating figure.
