In today's episode, "Species Spotlight: Billfish," the crew dives deep… like a swordfish… into the amazing billfish! Billfish are a general term for swordfish, marlin, sailfish and spearfish. These monsters of the ocean are large, fast, agile, and apex predators. We discuss their anatomy, behavior, evolutionary adaptations and lifespans. We talk about how they can get caught in nets and about their conservation. Hopefully you learn a whole lot about these amazing fish! This podcast is brought to you by the flounder. Flounders are unique little angels who just wanted to be different. Instead of evolving to be flat with both of their eyes on top, they evolved flat by laying on their side and then forced one eye to migrate over the top of their heads to rest next to their other eye. And so these special little princesses can say they took the path less travelled to being flat fish. These little self centered divas can fit right in with today's culture of selfies and influencers. Cheers to you, special flounder. Thanks for listening to Gettin' Fishy With It! You can find our new website at www.gettinfishywithit.com. In this very special edition of Nerd Noise Radio Channel F, St. John's 7yr old son, St. Wyatt makes his Nerd Noise Radio debut (at least, in all the ways that matter). This episode will be a miniature of the Channel 2 format - with only one track! Circumstances: St. John *MEANT* to include a track from one of Wyatt's iPad games into the mixtape of C1E98: "Mishmash Monday - vol. 17", but realized way too late into that episode's production that he had completely spaced it off. He briefly considered going back into the mixtape and the voice track and retroactively adding the track. But then decided to instead use the occasion of his complete air-headedness to "turn lemons into lemonade" and and introduce Wyatt into the show - something that had been in the back of St. John's mind since the day Wyatt was born. While Wyatt has yet to master the art of radio communication (I hope everyone likes "salad"), this F-isode absolutely melts my heart!....I hope it will you too! Lastly, I actually really like this track....and once again, I hope you will too! Given St. John's penchant for "ironically, humorously literal titles", this one is aptly named: "One for Wyatt!" Track: 01) Gettin' Freaky - Friday Night Funkin' - iOS/Android - Kawai Sprite

Be sure and join us on our Youtube Channel with our special guest, former Fire Patrolman Arnold Roma, father of Patrolman Keith Roma. Tune in as we honor and pay tribute to the ONLY patrolman that perished on 911. Keith was with Fire Patrol 2 in Greenwich Village and responded to the trade center on that horrific day. Keith performed some great heroic acts on 911 including several trips into the North Tower where he saved an estimated 200 civilians. Sadly, as he was rescuing 9 civilians, the second tower collapsed, killing Keith and the 9 civilians he was rescuing. This is going to be another great tribute show as we discuss Keith's career and the controversy surrounding his death. We will also get to discuss Arnolds time in the Fire Patrol. Gettin ever so close to 200 episodes. Will we MAKE IT? We will.Folks, we can barely CONTAIN ourselves with excitement at the last second BLOCKED FG that gave the Birds an improbable victory against the Rams at the Linc. Why so improbable? Well, because Patullo and the rest of the dang team was ASLEEP in the first half! We muse about the second half adjustments (was the adjustment to pull rank on Patullo?), and the tale of two halves that gave us yet another Merrill Reese classic call. It's sad, maybe, but I absolutely well up with tears whenever he gets all excited like an elfin king.NEXT we have to check in on our playoff bound / NL East champs Phillies...and to delve into potential playoff matchups. We are still gunning for that number 2 spot at this point...of course a loss in extra innings to the Marlins last night didn't help us! Dammit Marlins you always gotta ruin stuff! Let's get it together (negative xRays on JT's hand, thank god)...and let's finish strong to get to October ball!Email: hoagiemouthpod@gmail.comIG: @hoagiemouthpod

It's Kinda 2: Electric Boogaloo – or as it's better known to most people… Snakedance! Beyond the return of the Mara, we get the return of good ol' themes of colonialism, complete with a spoiled brat heir, a difficult and ignorant historian, and a snake-oil salesman who gets his comeuppance (ironically, at the hands of snake-being!)! Join us as we discuss what the Mara are (and how RTD has corrupted that idea), to what extent Lon was actually possessed by the Mara, how Elisabeth Sladen's husband (Brian Miller) bears a striking resemblance to Jared Harris, how J.K. Rowling may have taken some inspiration from this story, and the absolute simplicity of the plot. Additionally, Anthony challenges Reilly to cosplay as Lon. If you want to learn about the skull shapes of fish and how they evolved, Kory is the guy for you. This silvery, slender fish is known to inhabit the Atlantic Ocean. Jonathan and Ryan react to the latest Nintendo Direct which had a lot of Pokemon news, a lot of Amiibo news, and strangely enough, a lot of Virtual Boy news. Despite the newness of the news though, Jonathan seems to think it was mostly old stuff that's not new or exciting, but still kinda cool. Jonathan is also incapable of saying the names of the games Pokopia and Popucom, which are tricky and sound too similar to each other. There's a bit of analysis about Ryan's fear of dying in video games as opposed to his fearlessness of real life violence and we learn that an over abundance of video games might make them feel less special.0:00:00 - Motorcycles, Everyone's Gettin' Em0:03:06 - The End of YouTube0:04:55 - Amiibo News0:05:32 - Nintendo Direct Reactions0:08:14 - Should We Move On to Pokemon?0:10:52 - What's Black and Red and Tennis All Over?0:12:13 - Are You Done with Videogames?0:15:02 - Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga0:20:27 - Anaylsis of Ryan0:22:56 - Is the Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC Worth It?0:25:22 - What About Dinkum? In this episode, "Species Spotlight: Angelfish," the crew go up to heaven… in search of the Angelfish (freshwater)! We focus on freshwater angelfish only and it's quite a deep dive! Physically speaking, they are certainly oddballs, from their prominent long fins to their fast snapping mouths to the bug eyes of the babies that seem to be screaming at you. Did you know there are only 3 species in captivity and only 1 that readily breeds in the hobby? Come get your wings and your halo in another riveting episode about a common fish species! This podcast is brought to you by the rummynose tetra, Petitella bleheri. Discovered by German researcher and author Heiko Bleher, the rummynose tetra is a beautiful silver fish with a bright red nose and a black and white striped tail. The naming of this fish might confuse you. The bright red on its face looks less like a runny nose and more like a major nosebleed. But alas, this is what they were named and there is nothing we can do about it. These fish can be found in South America, schooling in large groups and occasionally recruited by Santa to guide his sleigh during foggy Xmas Eves. Cheers to you rummynose and rest in peace, Heiko Bleher. Thanks for listening to Gettin' Fishy With It! You can find our new website at www.gettinfishywithit.com. 0:00 - A cool camera angle emerged of RJ Harvey's TD vs the Cardinals on Saturday. He hit the tiniest hole in the offensive line, ripped straight through it, and found the end zone. When was the last time the Broncos had a guy like that?16:49 - ROX ARE GETTING HOT, BOYS! They walked it off against the Dodgers last night. They've won 6 of 7. They only need 6 wins to avoid being the worst team in the modern era. Oh how the turn tables. Also, the Browns just named Joe Flacco as their day 1 starter. Really? What's the plan here, fellas?33:35 - Joe Burrow played in Cincy's preseason game last night and, shocker, the O-Line had him running for his life. He got sacked and dogpiled a few times. In a meaningless preseason game. Hey Joe..it's preseason! Just fall down! Next, in honor of Rich Eisen returning to ESPN & SportsCenter last night, who are the greatest SportsCenter achors of all time?
