Ron Bare is a financial advisor and the founder of Bare Wealth Advisors in Lancaster, PA. Raised on a fifth-generation dairy farm with a faith-filled family, Ron learned early in life the value of hard work, the biblical principles of stewardship, and the eternal impact of generosity. Those elements became the foundation of who he is and what he does as a financial advisor, or in his words, a “pastor of finance.”    In this episode, Ron shares personal stories and many helpful thoughts to show the power of intentional generosity as a conversation with God, and how giving of your finances, giftings, and time can change a life, a community, and even affect people across the globe.   Major topics include: How Ron's upbringing shaped who he is today The story of how Bare Wealth Advisors began How God prepared and called him to be a “pastor of finance” Implementing an intentional core value of generosity in his personal life and his business How Ron's passion for good stewardship in finances led to his family's financial and practical involvement in supporting young moms in their local community Advice for following the voice of God and your passions to know how to serve and where to give The value of tracking generosity and its impact Stewardship as a conversation with God The power of collaboration in giving QUOTES TO REMEMBER “Plan intentionally, give generously.” “We are pastors of finance.” “The biblical principle of stewardship isn't about how much we have. It's about being faithful with what's in our hands, even if it doesn't feel like a lot.” “The more that our works and our treasures are flowing together, the more our hearts will flow.” “The most important thing anyone decides with their finances is how they interact with generosity.” “Giving isn't something we have to do; it is something we are invited into with God.” “We always need to be growing in generosity.” “If we don't answer the question ‘what is enough,' it can limit the impact that we have.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Bare Wealth Advisors Ron Blue, Founder of Kingdom Advisors (see our past interview here) Kingdom Advisors (see our interview with founder, Ron Blue) Crown Financial Ministries Jim Wise, Financial Advisor (see our past interview here) John Rinehart, Author of Gospel Patrons (see our past interview here) Randy Alcorn (see our past interview here) Generous Giving (see our interviews with cofounders Todd Harper and David Wills and CEO, April Chapman) National Christian Foundation (see our interview with President Emeritus, David Wills) Every Good Endeavor by Timothy Keller The Finish Line Community Facebook Group The Finish Line Community LinkedIn Group   BIBLE REFERENCES FROM THE SHOW Matthew 6:21 | Treasure of the Heart   For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.     1 Timothy 6:17-19 | Rich in Good Works   As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.     Luke 12:48b | Much Given, Much Required   Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.     2 Corinthians 9:6-8 | The Cheerful Giver   The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.    John 3:16 | For God So Loved the World   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.   2 Corinthians 8:7 | The Grace to Give   But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also. This week I'm talking to Peter Panagore about his book 'Heaven Is Beautiful: How Dying Taught Me That Death Is Just the Beginning'.When Peter Baldwin Panagore died on the side of a mountain, his life was forever changed. Decades later, the intense spiritual journey continues, with a story that combines the thrills of a wilderness adventure with the awe-inspiring elements of a paranormal novel. In March of 1980, college senior Peter Panagore went ice climbing on the world-famous Lower Weeping Wall, along the Ice Fields Parkway in Alberta, Canada. His climbing partner was an experienced ice climber, but Panagore was a novice. On their descent, they became trapped on the side of the mountain. As the sun set, he was overcome by exhaustion and hypothermia. He died on the side of that mountain. And in those minutes on the other side, he experienced hell, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Heaven was beautiful.Panagore's death experience changed his life and resulted in an intense spiritual journey that has continued for decades. It impelled him to pursue a master's degree at Yale Divinity School, focusing on systematic theology and Christian mysticism. His educational background coupled with 30 years of meditative practice and 20 years of professional work with the dying and grieving has given him unique insight, language, and perspective on heaven, God, death, life, love, beauty, and hope.BioGlobal Audible Best-Selling Author of Heaven Is Beautiful: How Dying Taught Me That Death Is Just The Beginning and Maine Best-Selling Author of Two Minutes for God: Quick Fixes for the Spirit Rev. Episode 26. Deidre in OklahomaIn this episode, I will be talking with Deidre in Oklahoma. Deidre lost her parents to COVID just 16 days apart. Her stepfather, Asa died on December 27, 2020 and her mom, Catherine passed away on January 13, 2021. She was able to be with both of her parents when they passed away and talks a lot about the difficulties of losing them and how isolated she felt. When we finished recording, Deidre sent me a beautiful email about her parents and all the things she thought to say afterward. I've included that email text below. Her parents obituaries:Catherine Lewis DouglasAsa Bartlett Douglas In America flags COVID Survivors for Change even in Wash DC Oklahoma Yellow Heart Memorial and YHM in general Rami's Heart For context on this interview and the ever-changing pandemic, we recorded this episode on April 12, 2022.Deidre's email about her parents: MY MOM was the best Mom ever. My best friend. She could never be serious for too long, because she'd crack up laughing at herself. Her giggle was so contagious and she was one of the most empathetic people I've ever known. She connected deeply with people - the gift of gab with a special something extra that made her unforgettable. MY STEPDAD was a oil man by trade at the end, but foremost and originally he was an artist. I helped him and my mom run a screen printing shop together for awhile when I was a teenager… doing T-shirts, promotional items and signs. He always claimed me as his own. He didn't have to, but he did. I'll always be grateful for that.MOURNING THEM both has been difficult. Going through their clothes was probably one of the hardest sorting tasks. I knew all of their clothes. Remembered what they looked like in each outfit and item. I couldn't help but hug some of the outfits as they hung from the hanger in the closet. I suppose it was a way to get one last semblance of their arms around me. There will always be a hole in my life where they should be, where their stories should have continued.------------If you've lost a loved one to COVID and would like to share your story on the show, please send me an email.  My email address is forthosewelostpodcast@gmail.com. Saved by What? By RC Sproul - Chapter 6 Blessing or Curse

BIBLES * Bulldogs * Beards

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 31, 2022 43:46

“The cross was not an isolated event in history that sprang up spontaneously. Rather, the atonement of Christ was the culmination, the climax of centuries of redemptive history. Ages before, God had set certain things in motion that reached their acme with the death of Jesus.” – RC Sproul ATONEMENT & COVENANT Dr. Sproul says; “It is impossible to fully understand the death of Christ apart from an understanding of the whole process of covenant that is worked out in the Old & New Testaments.” Do you agree with him, and why or why not? A covenant is a relationship between the Lord and His servants. In this relationship, the Lord verbally speaks to His servants, defining the covenant relationship. He tells them His name, His laws or stipulations, His blessings & His cursings. There is a verbal giving of the covenant, God tells us to “Obey my Voice” and “keep My covenant” (Exodus 19:5+many others). The covenant is also written: On Stone: - “And He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.” - Deuteronomy 4:13 In the Bible and on our Heart: – “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” - Jeremiah 31:33 - The Importance of God's Word. This is how God reveals Himself, through the Bible. Without the Bible there would be no covenants, there would be no Gospel, & there would be no salvation. We recognize 2 sacraments; Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Communion). (WCF – 28:1) “Baptism is a sacrament of the New Testament, ordained by Jesus Christ, not only for the solemn admission of the party baptized into the visible Church; but also to be unto him a sign and seal of the covenant of grace, of his ingrafting into Christ, of regeneration, of remission of sins, and of his giving up unto God, through Jesus Christ, to walk in the newness of life. Which sacrament is, by Christ's own appointment, to be continued in His Church until the end of the world.” Jesus made sure to identify with baptism and He made painstaking preparations in preparing PASSOVER. In the upper room, Jesus instituted another New Covenant – Explain how the Old Covenant Passover changes to the New Covenant? COVENANT BLESSINGS & CURSES A covenant has sanctions. Rewards or Penalties. Blessing or Curses. Read Deuteronomy 28:1-6. What is the significance of blessing & cursing to the world today? Explain the parallel between the two. Note the far-ranging extent of the curse of God. It extends over all of life. BLESSED: IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD Most people equate blessing with being happy. You have been preaching the beatitudes, and you gave a excellent explanation of the term blessing. Tell the folks that might be listening; does blessingmean being happy? Dr. Sproul talks about a Hebrew literary device called parallelism. You are a writer, what is parallelism? The curse is the exact opposite of the blessing. For the Jew, to be blessed was to have God draw near. In times of crisis, in times of tumult, and upheaval. It is a frightening time. They found confidence in the assurance the presence of God. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/biblebulldog/message

This week we're all heartbroken as Oz breaks free of his werewolf cage (how can he weld and where did they find that crypt?), Willow begins to have doubts about the relationship, and we learn just how horrible Veruca truly is in Buffy episode 406, "Wild at Heart" For more Hot Chicks with[out] superpowers check out: Hannah has been reading 'The Secret History of Wonder Woman' by Jill Lepore which traces the heroines origins and the fascinating/creepy/prescient/misogynistic life of her creator. Emily has been listened to the podcast 'Sawbones' by Dr. Sydnee McElroy, and her husband Justin. They're great couple podcasters though she provides most of the knowledge. Haley has been watching spy show 'Covert Affairs' staring CIA agent Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) because sometimes you just want to watch a lady kick butts.
