Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) continues to do work on multiple fronts. According to Jason Yarbrough, state director for DR, relief work continues after wildfires and a series of tornadoes and severe storms in Oklahoma; Many Texans have a general understanding they live in one of the most diverse states in the nation. What they may be less aware of is how many Arabic-speaking Southern Baptist churches exist in the Lone Star State; Vacation Bible School is an enriching time when various volunteers from all parts of the church join together to plan and lead a special event with one theme in mind—sharing the gospel with children.
After taking some time to dive deep into the crypto ecosystem when he found Bitcoin in 2017, it was clear to Andre that digital currency was the future of economic empowerment. Having weathered numerous bear market cycles since then, Andre's more excited than ever to see web3 learn from web2's mistakes and make real, meaningful impact over the next 20 years.Andre's diverse background in philosophy, political science, and economics, may not have pointed him toward an obvious career path in the crypto space. However, it was precisely this unique, multidisciplinary informed insight that enabled him to connect the dots, and easily see the incredible potential of a world that trusts math and code over a fiat system. Soon, after finding Bitcoin he began his crypto education journey by reading books, engaging in the ecosystem, and making personal investments in projects he believed were making impact for what he saw for the long term vision of the industry. Now, having worked with various companies in the space, he's now proud to be the sBTC Resident at the Stacks Foundation where he's responsible for product and partnerships of sBTC. A blazing rally that began this month has helped bitcoin shoot up nearly 50 percent in two weeks. It was driven by various pieces of news — for instance, George Soros's family office disclosed that it holds some — but the biggest force was the increasingly certain expectation that the federal government will approve the first bitcoin-based exchange-traded fund, which will allow retail investors to buy in more easily, including for 401(k) accounts. (The ETF could begin trading as early as Monday.) But doubters remain — and their ranks just happen to include many of the same prominent investors who saw the financial crisis of 2008 coming.https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2021/10/17/grayscale-said-close-to-filing-to-convert-bitcoin-fund-into-spot-etf-cnbc-says/Grayscale Said Close to Filing to Convert Bitcoin Fund Into Spot ETF: CNBCGrayscale Investments plans on applying to convert the world's biggest bitcoin fund into a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) early this week, according to a report by CNBC, citing a person with knowledge of the matter. While the exact timing of Grayscale's intended filing may be new, the world's largest digital asset manager has made no secret of its intent to seek approval for a spot bitcoin-based ETF once a futures-based one cleared the commission. That approval occurred on Friday.Grayscale's ETF would be backed by actual units of the cryptocurrency, not simply linked it via derivatives contracts such as futures.

This episode is a deep dive into Curve finance with founder Michael Egorov. Curve is the 2nd largest decentralized exchange on Ethereum, and focuses on trading between stablecoins or other similarly priced assets, for more efficiency. Users can use the platform to swap between Dai and USDT, 2 coins pegged to the US dollar. Or WBTC, RenBTC, sBTC, 3 coins pegged to the price of bitcoin. On Curve people can also provide liquidity to the curve pools and earn fees. Curve also interoperates with the larger DeFi Space. Such interoperable platforms are often analogized to Lego bricks: you can put different DeFi projects together in interesting ways to create new results, or maximize yield. Michael and I talk about how the money lego “Curve” interoperates with countless other projects, like supplying tokens to Compound or yEarn.Finance to generate more income for liquidity providers. We explain these relationships, talk about the CRV governance token, and also discuss the controversy behind the CRV launch when an anonymous person front ran the curve team and deployed the contract early. We discuss the difference between Curve and platforms like Balancer and Uniswap, how risk is managed on the backend, and added incentives for different actions on the Curve platform. We also talk about why some people think Curve is better suited to more sophisticated users. We have a special guest article below from Rebecca, a Zerion team member!Zerion: UpdateGuest Post: Rebecca Mqamelo, Marketing at Zerion.2020 has been a big year for Zerion. The interface went from a simple portfolio tracking tool into one of the easiest places to explore the entire DeFi market, buy and sell tokens, and manage assets across multiple wallets. Since redesigning their product to be more market-centric, the team is now turning their attention towards making Zerion the one place where investors can access all of DeFi. This shift is a logical response to an evolving landscape of user needs: when they launched their Explore and Market pages – which allow you to filter assets by performance, protocol, and type – they saw a 50x increase in weekly active users, signalling the growing demand for tools that let you discover new DeFi assets and track a complex portfolio from a single platform. In addition, weekly active users on their mobile apps increases 6x.Zerion’s roadmap is now entirely focused on supporting a wider range of transactions with DeFi instruments. This will build on the previous work they’ve done with DeFi SDK, an open-source library that makes it easier for dApps to integrate with protocols. Right now, Zerion lets you buy and sell a number tokens, but with new protocols and strategies cropping up every day, users are looking for ways to do more with the assets they have. This includes staking, yield farming and trading. The important part is they want to do this from the same place they manage their entire portfolio – and building towards this is now a top priority for most DeFi interfaces.Tell your friends about this episode!🙏 New To Yield Farming? This Week in Crypto - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Blockchain, and Cryptocurrency News
This is your daily roundup for Sunday, September 15, 2019. The Libra Association will face questions from European Central Banks, OKEX has delisted five privacy coins, the U.S. has sanctioned three North Korean entities for cyber crimes, and former Consensys employee Harrison Hines is launching a crypto-native alternative to GitHub. ☕ Buy Me A Coffee: https://glow.fm/mota Today in Crypto – September 15, 2019 The U.S. has sanctioned three North Korean entities for cyber crimes. The three groups, Lazarus Group, Bluenoroff and Andariel, are believed to be responsible for the theft of $571 million worth of crypto from five exchanges in Asia in 2017 and 2018. The Treasury department believes the stolen funds have been used in the development of nuclear weapons. A recent U.N. report alleges that North Korea has stolen $2 billion worth of crypto and fiat currencies in 35 separate attacks in 17 countries, including South Korea’s UPbit exchange, whom may have been one of the targets of North Korea’s phishing attacks. OKEX Delists 5 Privacy Coins South Korean exchange OKEX announced the delisting of five privacy coins, including Monero (XMR), dash, zcash (ZEC), horizen (ZEN) and super bitcoin (SBTC). OKEX stated “it is recommended that exchanges be able to collect relevant information such as the name and address of the sender and recipient of the virtual asset.” OKEX cited the “travel rule” recommendation from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as the reason for pulling the five coins. Coinbase UK also dropped support for zcash last month, likely due to the need to identify users when required by authorities. This comes in response to the Financial Action Task Force guidelines, requiring that virtual asset service providers such as exchanges, pass along information about their customers to one another when transferring funds between firms. European Central Banks To Grill Libra The Libra Association will face questions from 26 central banks over its perceived risks to financial stability. According to the Financial Times, Libra will be expected to answer questions on its planned scope and structure at the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructure Forum. European Central Bank executive board member Benoit Coeure, whom will chair the meeting, stated “We’ve got to look very carefully at these projects, the bar for regulatory approval has been set very high.” The central banks’ findings will likely be included in an October report for the G7 nations. GitHub Crypto-Native Alternative Former head of Token Foundry at Consensys, Harrison Hines, is launching a crypto-native alternative to GitHub. The startup, called Terminal, closed a $3.7 million seed round in late 2018 to build a developer hub for decentralized applications. The hub quietly went live over the summer and is undergoing a soft launch this week. Notably, Hines filed a legal complaint this June against ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin, alleging Consensys owed him $13 million in unpaid profits and benefits. Hines says the issue has since been resolved outside of court, further stating “We are planning to, hopefully, get every ConsenSys project onto Terminal, I do think there are opportunities for us to work with several of them in the future.” Binance Invests In Chinese Crypto Media Binance has made an investment in Chinese crypto media and data source Mars Finance. Binance CEO CZ stated “We have large respect for data, news and research firms which support the positive growth of the blockchain industry. We will continue to pursue strategic investment opportunities in our mission to bring crypto further mainstream, increase adoption and accessibility, and help the industry grow sustainably.” A report from Bloomberg estimates the company to be valued at $200 million.
The SBTC has removed a San Antonio-area church from fellowship after the church decided to retain a sex offender as their pastor. Also, we take some listener questions this week.
Podcast main page: www.mspvoice.com/ Show-notes: www.mspvoice.com/msp-voice-episode-41/ Guest: Scott Bell Company: St. Benedict Technology Consortium Scott was working in a school and faced a challenge when the school received 400 laptops...how could he get them all set up? He came up with the idea to pool resources from other schools and the idea behind SBTC was born. Unlike many MSPs, Scott runs SBTC as a non-profit. That means that he only supports other non-profits (mostly schools) and also gives him a bit of freedom because he’s not our chasing new customers for profit. Scott has grown his team to over 40 employees in the past 10 years and services 2 of the counties that make up the greater Chicago area (Lake and Cook Counties). Scott talks about why he decided to go this route and also about how it’s rewarding for him and his employees to have an impact on their community.
God’s Commandment to Adam 16And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." v. 16. Literally translated, from any tree of the garden you may eat freely. The Fall – Genesis 3:1-7 v. 1. Satan is present in the Garden as a snake. He is described as “more crafty” – tells the reader, beware his words. Satan said, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden?” This is an obvious misquoting of God. He said, you may eat of every tree but one. Satan maliciously calls God’s intentions into question. He implies that God has not been generous with them, but restrictive, lording over, controlling them. v. 2. The woman’s first mistake was that she responded to Satan’s character assassination of God. v. 3. Then she adds, “neither shall you touch it.” She also understates the certainty of death. vv. 4-5. Satan’s claims against God. • You will not die – implying that God’s word is not true. • They will gain what belongs to God – Knowledge of good and evil. Satan accuses God of lying and of holding Eve back from something good. Satan told them what they would gain – knowledge of good and evil. Satan implies: God is not good. He is not gracious. He is selfish and deceptive. He is preventing the man and woman from achieving the same position as God. Satan concealed from Eve what they would lose. • They experienced expulsion from the Garden • They were separated from the presence of God. • Their eyes were opened, but it enabled them to see their nakedness. • They were burdened with human guilt and embarrassment. • They became isolated and fearful. • They obtained “wisdom” in exchange for death. Satan challenged the goodness and the truthfulness of God. Satan invited Eve to set herself up as judge over God’s goodness and intentions. “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” – A.W. Tozer If we do not believe the Bible is true, then we cannot believe it is God’s Word. If the Bible does not represent God’s Word, then it is not authoritative. If the Bible is not authoritative, then something or someone else is authoritative. Whoever is most powerful then becomes the authority on morality. I believe that the Bible is true, because I believe that God is true. He is faithful and true in his Word. Not only does God possess and speak truth, he is truth himself. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. – John 14:6 Texas has 2 state conventions, the BGCT and the SBTC. Both are Christian, both are ministry and gospel-focused. Both hold to a traditional, evangelical, biblical view. But one has committed to a view of Biblical Inerrancy that I believe is important. We will discuss more at a business March 24. Last month the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio ran 3 news stories documenting 700 cases of sexual misconduct by 380 pastors, deacons, ministers, youth pastors, teachers and volunteers. The cases spread over 20 years. In February, Pope Francis called for meeting of church leaders to hear cases of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church, which has suffered accusations against more than 4,000 priests. On Feb 26, the international General Conference of the United Methodist Church voted to approve a plan about human sexuality. They approved the Traditional Plan, which keeps the current language of a traditional, biblical view of sexuality in the church’s The Book of Discipline.
On this week's episode, Houston Arledge joins Jared for a conversation about faith, spoken word in the church, and his trip to Utah. Houston is a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an intern at the SBTC. You can connect with Houston on Instagram @houstonarledge.

“It’s all about Safety” These are the famous words you’ll hear whenever a call to action needs support, usually creating laws and regulations affecting professional CMV drivers. Along with such calls for more laws will follow the lobbyisst in support, fitting their agendas. Where is the call to action for ”Michaels Law Amendment” an Amendment to 18 U.S. Code 926A proposed by James Lamb of the SBTC? The proposed amendment, would expand the existing Federal “Interstate Transportation of Firearms” statute into a right-to-carry law for all Americans engaged in interstate commerce. According to the Department of Labor, one person is MURDERED in the transportation industry EVERY WEEK! Should the NRA be supporting this? Next, CRST refers to safety also in their request for exemption at the FMCSA. According to CRST, allowing CLP holders (Commercial Learners Permit) to drive team, with little or no OTR driving experience, U.S. highways would be safer and more productive. Read CRST Exemption Request here. Comments by 2/4/16. Desiree Wood of RealWomenInTrucking did not agree and started a petition.."Stop Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration from granting unsafe exemptions for truck driver trainees" Both James Lamb and Desiree Wood will be our guests to discuss these 2 very Concerning Safety Issues affecting drivers and the nation. New Years Eve on AskTheTrucker 'Live' – 2015 Trucker Highlights and 2016 Goals with guest and Co-Host Pat Hockaday of TruckersUnited.org Thursday Dec 31st 2015 6PM ET 347-826-9170 Join the excitement this New Years Eve as we countdown the 2015 Highlights and Feature 2016 concerns and goals for the Professional CDL driver. 2015 Highlights- the Transportation Bill was passed! Among a long list of inclusions were: CSA reform, drug testing reform, detention time study, and an insurance rule study. Not included in the bill: No under 21 year old interstate truckers, or bigger/ heavier trucks, no Carrier Hiring Standards, the strike down of the Denham Amendment, which could have negatively affected CMV drivers wages. One of the most controversial episodes for 2015 was the Tracey Morgan crash, which received national publicity and opened up a can of worms for many carriers and drivers, revealing clever attempts at manipulating trucking HOS. One of the biggest victories for drivers was Kenny Capell’s victory for the Obstruction of Justice “Right to Sleep” court case, led by SBTC chairman James Lamb. The National Truck Parking Coalition was formed and has continued the task of addressing the 30 year old problem of truck parking shortages. FMCSA was busy also this 2015 as The ELD rule has become final, as was the Driver Coercion Rule. Let’s not forget “the Right to Carry”, ’Mike Law’ for CDL drivers, which would grant a national gun permit. As we move forward into 2016, there remain vital issues for drivers. Wages, HOS, Truck Parking, and ELD’s still remain high on the list of concerns. Share YOUR TOP concerns as we enter 2016 and be a part of the entry for the free FalconEye Dashcam
Our opening topic for the show will be, "Does law enforcement have the right to wake up drivers while they are on their federally mandated 10 hour break? Kenny Capell will be checking in with us to share his experience. Kenny was arrested last year forObstruction of Justice while on his mandatory 10 hour break, and after nearly one year, the case was just dismissed as of Feb. 6th, 2015. Is this a victory for truckers in general as they face other challenges in maintaining HOS compliance? Join us as we review the almost year long journey, including the 'Request for ‘Pattern and Practices’ Investigation of Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division;Civil Application Pursuant to Title 42,U.S.C.,Section14141" by James Lamb of SBTC. If time allows, we will continue discussion on the importance of truck driver health. Do you believe that more truckers are making a stand for their health and well-being? Also, what about the continuous and ongoing surge for more regulations or the driver recruitment and retention issue? We'll try to get to this topic as well . . .
