Consensus recommendations on calf- and herd-level passive immunity in dairy calves in the United States Find the Big 3 Infographic at otovets.com/cuttingedge Find the full article at: https://www.journalofdairyscience.org/article/S0022-0302(20)30383-0/fulltext See the referenced research graphs by joining OTO at otovets.com/facebook Big Take Away #1: The proposed model showed statistically significant decreases in morbidity between the poor and fair categories was observed with 10% reductions in morbidity and 5.7% percent reductions between the good and excellent categories. This herd level model also showed mortality differences between the poor and fair groups and between the fair and good groups, totaling a 50% reduction in mortality between these groups Big Take Away #2: Animals with elevated IgG concentrations greater than 24 g/L had significant decreases in morbidity. This model suggests a drop from 46.1% morbidity to 28.5% if you go between the poor and excellent groups. Big Take Away #3: Calves that were administered colostrum in one of two ways; #1 a single feeding of ~3.3L of colostrum 2 hours after birth OR #2 a multi-feeding system with the first feeding of ~2.7 L at ~2.8 hours of age and another feeding bringing the total to ~5.3L could would achieve the excellent IgG grouping. This was determined from the NAHMS data which showed the average colostrum treatment required to achieve the "excellent" benchmark. Ultimate Message: It is time to revisit the classic dichotomous scale of PASS or FAIL for transfer of passive immunity. This study seeks to break the stereotype that an animal with less than 2 tenths of a point of Total Protein difference is somehow more protected than one 2 tenths of a point higher. The proposed method by which herd-level passive immunity competency can be assessed and improved breaks down into excellent, good, fair and poor classifications and seeks to address normal variation within herd wide populations while properly conveying the risk associated with that variation. Consensus recommendations on calf- and herd-level passive immunity in dairy calves in the United States Published by J. Lombard, N. Urie, F. Garry, S. Godden, J. Quigley, T. Earleywine, S. McGuirk, D. Moore, M. Branan, M. Chamorro, G. Smith, C. Shivley, D. Catherman, D. Haines, A.J. Heinrichs, R. James, J. Maas, K. Sterner Location: United States Objective: The objectives of this study were to evaluate different threshold values for TPI and their relationship to mortality and morbidity using available data and come to consensus on a calf- and herd-level TPI standard. A secondary objective was to provide colostral management recommendations to meet the consensus standards.

David Waddell is CEO and Chief Investment Strategist for Waddell & Associates. Which is a good thing given that Anson was a theater major and Branan studied "Fine Arts". Dave also explains what he learned about the Chinese economy while spending a year living in Hong Kong, and how robots are now controlling a surprising amount of trade. Yes. Robots.

This is it - the moment that Scott has been building up to for the last year. He's been tirelessly working to put a project into the world that is consistent with who he is and what he wants to accomplish. On this episode of The Amazing Seller, you'll hear from Scott as he gives a background story for context, explains how his story has impacted the lives of others, and of course - the big reveal! You'll want to pay extra close attention to this exciting and special episode coming to you on the heels of Brand Accelerator Live! Setting the stage If you've been part of the TAS community for very long, you know that Scott has quite the compelling story. From his days working construction with his father to his early days selling on Ebay - Scott's story has been anything but boring. Through all of Scott's successes and challenges - one thing stood out from all the rest - family. Scott's family was the motivator that got him into and then later out of the construction business. He wanted to provide for his family, and he wanted to spend time with his family - these two things are at odds with each other - right? Wrong! Scott soon created a path that would allow him to spend time with his family and provide a comfortable life for them at the same time. Growing in confidence While Scott knew he was a competent construction worker - he realized that he did not want to spend 60 hours or more at the job site each week. Scott's skill set he built while working with his father was the key to give Scott the confidence he needed to go out on a limb and try something new. Something new started as a photography business that Scott created with his wife, Lisa. The company grew for a while and then Scott discovered new opportunities to make an income that would provide for his family - ecommerce. The Amazon Guy As many of you know - Scott learned the ins and outs of the ecommerce world over several years of retail arbitrage and selling on Amazon and Ebay. Before long, Scott decided to take the insights and lessons he learned from his own experience and offer them to the rest of the ecommerce industry. After several years of The Amazing Seller podcast, Scott became known as "The Amazon Guy." While Scott is proud of the work he's done with TAS - he started to kind of chafe against getting pegged as "The Amazon Guy." He knew that his story had so much more potential to impact people beyond the scope of the ecommerce industry. The next chapter All of the backstory and building has come to this - the big reveal! Listening to the audio, you really get the sense that Scott is BEYOND excited to share this news and the next chapter with the TAS community. Scott is now an AUTHOR! He is happy to announce the launch of his new book, "The Take Action Effect: Proven Steps to Build a Future-Proof Business & Create Your Ultimate Freedom." In this book, Scott shows you how to discover the path to freedom. You'll learn how to break through the limitations of your job, read the stories of people like you who have gotten themselves unstuck, and discover the action plan that will bring you the freedom and flexibility you've been looking for. Wolf and Cobra belly flop into The Marinade! This is our silliest episode to date and a dream come true. Cory Branan and Jon Snodgrass are two of our all-time favorite songwriters. Branan's new record Adios was released in 2017 and is one of our favorite records of the year. Snodgrass is best known for his work with Drag the River but also has an excellent solo catalog as well as work with the bands Scorpios and Armchair Martian. We joke about Jon's indecipherable emails and proclivity for 'playing' drums, dive deep into political waters, and discuss the creative process for each of these brilliant writers. corybranan.com jonsnodgrass.com

Karen Branan visits The Context of White Supremacy. A White Woman and author, Ms. Branan submits an lofty 50 year career as a journalists. She's been published in Life, Mother Jones, the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution to name a few. We'll examine her first book, The Family Tree: A Lynching In Georgia, A Legacy of Secrets, and My Search For The Truth. Branan excavates her family history to discover the details about a 1912 lynching in Georgia. In response to the killing of one White man, a White Terrorist mob took one black female and three black males from jail to lynch and mutilate their bodies. It's seems likely all four were innocent of this crime. Branan asserts that White men's proclivity for sexually molesting black females was at the heart of this case and much of the activity surrounding Racism of this period. She provides context for the Georgia massacre by incorporating the tireless work of Ida B Wells-Barnett as well the widely popular fiction of Thomas Dixon Jr. - who authored the Clansman, which was adapted to the blockbuster film Birth Of A Nation. We'll ask if Ms. Branan sees similarities to the climate of the Georgia massacre and the current rise of presidential hopeful Donald J. Trump. #AnswersForMiriamCarey INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p
THE FAMILY TREE: A Lynching in Georgia, a Legacy of Secrets and My Search for the Truth by Karen Branan A true account of the hanging of four black people by a white lynch mob in 1912—written by the great-granddaughter of the sheriff who allowed the lynching. Branan describes her almost twenty-year search for the truth behind her grandmother’s casual reply to the query “What is your most unforgettable memory?” The reply was, “The hanging,” which Branan would learn referred to the 1912 lynching of four black residents–a woman and three men–in retaliation for the killing of the sheriff’s nephew. Newly sworn into office, the sheriff–Branan’s maternal great-grandfather–allowed the lynching, for which no one was ever apprehended. Karen Branan is a veteran journalist who has written for newspapers, magazines, stage, and television for almost fifty years. Her work has appeared in Life, Mother Jones, Ms., Ladies’ Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, Today’s Health, Learning, Parents, Star Tribune (Minneapolis), The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and on PBS, CBS, ABC, CBC, BBC, and CNN.
