What happens when politics becomes performance and politicians become influencers? In today's Part 2 episode, former Marine and NYT bestselling author Elliot Ackerman joins Ryan to talk about the idea that “everything's a racket,” the collapse of institutional trust, and why restraint used to define real leadership. They talk about how cancel culture morphed into shamelessness as a superpower, why we might be living in a post-shame society, Ambrose Bierce's wild literary exit, and why modern media feels more like professional wrestling than journalism.Elliot Ackerman is the New York Times bestselling author of the novels 2054, 2034, Halcyon, Red Dress in Black and White, Waiting for Eden, Dark at the Crossing, and Green on Blue, as well as the memoirs The Fifth Act: America's End in Afghanistan and Places and Names: On War, Revolution, and Returning. Elliot's books have been nominated for the National Book Award, the Andrew Carnegie Medal in both fiction and nonfiction, and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, among others. He is a contributing writer at The Atlantic, a Senior Fellow at Yale's Jackson School of Global Affairs, and a veteran of the Marine Corps and CIA special operations, having served five tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for Valor, and the Purple Heart. With 25 years of service, 20 of them in the elite "Delta Force". Satterly became a living legend in the world of Special Operations. (5:53) • [Rob O'Neil] I have a podcast as well, called “The Operator.” We're called The Operator because if you're doing anything, you're an operator. (6:18) • Having a big man to kick your ass and teach you wind a bobbin; you realize there is skill here. (9:59) • When people quit BUDS, it's not because “this is hard”. [It's because] I'm tired of the broken foot.; I'm tired of the shin splints; I'm tired of my dislocated shoulder; I'm tired. (21:20) • In BUDS, one of the biggest problems is eating too much. Like I want 5 cheeseburgers, but we have a 4-mile run afterwards. (26:35) • [Rob] and for everyone that doesn't know, can you explain what a SDV is? (39:20) [Marcus] Imagine a mini submarine and shrink it down. The difference is that a submarine is dry inside, and the SDV is completely full of water. (39:23) • Listen to Marcus discuss the details of being in an SDV for 8 hours. Talk about ultimate torture - If you have a deep freeze in your garage, fill that sucker full of water, crawl in there and sit down for 8 hours. (40:32) • The first time I got in there, I was terrified. (45:29) • [Marcus] There's stuff that happens to us out there. Sometimes safety gets in the way of it. (58:49) • [After falling down the mountain during Operation Red Wings] I could hear that stream running. I've got to get me water, but I kept thinking I can't drink out of it, because my buddies are in it. (81:07) • If you want to make God laugh, tell Him what your plan is. (92:04) • [Marcus] Bro, when you saw that son of a bitch's face [Osama Bin Laden], what was the first thing you saw? [Rob O'Neal] I saw his nose. He was skinny, wearing white – tall. (95:22 ) • My nickname was “Nisro” (Navy SEAL Rob O'Neal). When they asked “Who got him?” They go “Nisro,” and they said “Fuck! In this episode of The Whiskey Trip, Big Chief rolls into Fort Worth, Texas, and steps inside a whiskey wonderland — the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory of whiskey — known officially as Trinity River Distillery, home of Silver Star Spirits. Joining him are Thomas Ingham, CEO and President, and Brett Luchesi, Master Distiller. Together, they discuss how they've breathed new life into this historic site — including one standout feature: their use of purified Texas rainwater, harvested on-site, to proof their whiskey. It's a sustainable, terroir-driven touch that gives each bottle a literal taste of Texas skies. Built on 27 acres with over 250,000 square feet of warehouse space, this isn't just a distillery — it's a Texas whiskey empire. Housed inside the legendary Ranch Style Beans factory, built in 1911, this historic site has been transformed from a pantry icon into a cutting-edge whiskey destination, where old-school craftsmanship meets modern innovation. Big Chief opens the episode with Silver Star 1849 Bourbon, a rich, bold pour that honors the founding year of Fort Worth. With notes that recall saddle leather, toasted oak, and frontier grit, it's a fitting tribute to Texas Rangers and the dusty trail towns of Lonesome Dove. Next up is a special 100-proof fall release — a whiskey that surprises with bright orange marmalade sweetness, a silky, oily texture, and a subtle smokiness that settles in like a Texas campfire. It's a seasonal stunner designed for cooler nights and deeper conversations. From there, the trio continues tasting their way through the Silver Star lineup throughout the episode. But one surprise pour stops Big Chief in his tracks — Devil's Grin Gin. Distilled with a bold blend of botanicals, including Texas mesquite beans, this gin delivers an earthy, slightly smoky twist that defies every expectation. It's Texas terroir in a glass — and even a devoted whiskey man has to tip his hat. This episode is more than a whiskey tasting — it's a journey through legacy, innovation, and the spirit of Fort Worth. Pour a glass and ride along. And remember — Big Chief don't sip what don't speak the truth. Silver Star's got a whole lot to say, and every drop tells the story loud and proud.
What man who desires to be a hero would let that happen? Us, obviously. Graveyard duck, give me the bag. Inside of this bag you can find us feeling the magic, repeatedly getting lost in the forest, spriting a tree differently, receiving PSP-exclusive Nash backstory, dreaming bloody murder, parting bushes like the red sea, debating the existence of god with children, learning of the nomadic lifestyle, spreading disease, stacking up powerful rugs, violating gift customs, passing out, deleting a joke about Kyle's massive penis, worshipping goat satan, and spreading black power to every corner of the world. The time is at hand to prove the worth of your way. We'll do that by wishing Laike was plausibly nerfed, fearing a bad lore tower, navigating pipes and catwalks, throwing shit out of a magic hat, playing fart sounds, bullying our way into a second airship, buzzing around like a turd-sick gnat, yanking on a face, foreshadowing a betrayal, enforcing the law of the west, engaging in a warrior challenge, replacing a necklace with a manifesto, and feeding cow to a horse. An unregistered ship. A haunting distress signal. A crew found dead, their faces twisted in terror—and then, an explosion that swallowed the vessel forever. This isn't the plot of a horror movie. This is the real (or is it?) story of the SS Ourang Medan. In this episode, we dive deep into one of the most unsettling maritime mysteries ever recorded—or invented. What really happened aboard the ghost ship that governments have seemingly tried to erase? Why was the CIA still referencing it a decade later? And could it all have been the cover-up of a deadly wartime secret? If you are interested in bonus content for our show or in getting some Coffee and Cases swag, please consider joining Patreon. This is the VIC 4 VETS, Honored Veteran, during Veterans Month in America. SUBMITTED BY: Christopher Slater _____________________________________________________________ Good morning Ken, Thank you to you and Vic for honoring our military members. My veteran is Specialist (Corporal) David Bixler, Specialist Bixler was assigned to the 1st Ballalion, 320th Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. On September 30, 2010, Specialist Bixler was on patrol in heavily mined farmland in the Arghandab(AR-CON DOB) River Valley in Afghanistan. He was leading a team of three Afghan National Army Soldiers, when his unit was ambushed and heavy gunfire ensued. When Bixler saw that one of the Afghan soldiers had veered toward uncleared ground, he ran after him and pushed him to safety. While doing so, Bixler stepped on an improvised explosive device. He suffered the loss of both legs, damage to his spinal cord, traumatic brain injury, and other serious injuries. For his heroic action, Bixler was awarded the Silver Star, as well as a Purple Heart for his wounds. Bixler was the 2011 USO Soldier of the Year. Bixler was evacuated on or about October 1st, 2010, by an Illinois Air National Guard KC-135 tanker aircraft, configured for an aeromedical evacuation flight from Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, to Ramstein Air Base, Germany (close to Landstuhl Military Hospital, Germany, Bixler's destination). Bixler survived his catastrophic wounds, and has since accepted a smart home from Tunnels to Towers (2016) and become successful in the computer industry, owning his own small business, specializing in 3D printed components. Bob Ingram joined the Navy after graduating high school in 1963 to give himself some direction. He was initially assigned to work in electronics, but after getting a bad case of pneumonia, Ingram was so impressed by the dedication of the Navy corpsmen, that he decided to become one. Corpsman training was long and demanding and Marine Corps aid training followed that. After struggling to find a good Marine unit to join, Ingram was off to Vietnam in late 1965 - attached to C Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. They saw a lot of action right from the start. In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Ingram takes us into corpsman training, being assigned to the wrong company, and the joy of being moved to a great one. He then details his actions in February 1966, as he rendered aid to his Marines and also manned a machine gun to expose the enemy position. Ingram would receive the Silver Star.Just a few weeks later, on March 28, 1966, C Company found itself in another vicious fight, and lost a platoon almost instantly. Ingram provided aid to wounded Marines, gathered weapons and ammo from those who were killed and brought it to those still in the fight, and, again, grabbed a gun to target and drive out the enemy. He did all of this despite being shot several times, including once in the head.Ingram will tell us about his long road to recovery, how he learned of the effort to award him the Medal of Honor, and what the medal means to him and the men he served alongside.

Robert Beattie was many things: an architect, a designer of iconic public buildings on Long Island, and a decorated World War II veteran. But most importantly, he was the father of today's guest, Richard Beattie. So we're celebrating Father's Day by celebrating the life and work of Robert Beattie. As an architect, Beattie's specialty was mid-century modern architecture. Working with clean lines, natural light, and an appreciation of the surrounding landscape, he designed many iconic buildings in our area. If you live in the town of Islip, you'll know his MacArthur Airport terminal, the core buildings of Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus, and St. Lawrence Church in Sayville. Richard takes us on a tour of his father's buildings and details his life. Robert was part of the Greatest Generation, earning a Silver Star as an Alamo Scout in the Philippines. He got his start in architecture with the firm Shreve, Lamb & Harmon in New York City. Robert then founded his own firm, Dobecki & Beattie, and embarked on a storied career on Long Island. We discuss the changing architectural landscape of Long Island in the 1960s, the Beattie family's connections to Oakdale, and Robert's devotion to being a father and an architect. He also served as a Combatives Instructor, Marksmanship Instructor and earned his Master Trainer Specialist qualification while helping Jocko rebuild and enhance these training programs into the highly effective platforms they are today. J.P. brings exceptional experience and frontline leadership perspective from the winning mindset and culture of Task Unit Bruiser. 00:00:00 Memorial Day 00:10:27 Marc Lee 00:18:53 Mikey Monsoor 00:30:13 Ryan Job 00:42:00 Darrik Benson 00:56:12 Aaron Vaughn 01:02:47 JT Tumlinson 01:10:27 Chris Kyle 01:17:33 Brad Carver 01:33:37 Chuck Keating 01:41:13 Seth Stone 02:04:59 Luke Barker 02:15:47 Scott Stout

Let the scrubbing commence. Once clean, we're deploying a burgle, only robbing the rich folks, assuming Reza's city planners were children, reading the big book of suckers, imagining “podcasting town,” falling off a high horse, tangling undergarments, giving up all passions, becoming the next Chutney Dallas, looping family trees like clover, purifying the soul, feeling manly dirt, fixin' that ice grime, having intercourse communion, and pre-visiting inventor town. Episode 087 – Leading Through Chaos, Carrying the Burden, and Knowing When to Walk Away In this episode of the JP Dinnell Podcast, JP and Lucas deliver one of their most transparent and hard-hitting conversations yet — tackling what it means to lead when the burden gets heavy, the mission gets messy, and the relationships around you start shifting. Coming off a powerful FTX leadership training event, JP shares behind-the-scenes lessons on clarity under chaos, how most leaders fail when pressure hits, and why leadership isn't just about serving others — it's about protecting your standards, your team, and your time. They also dig into the hard truth about relationships: not everyone can go where you're going, and sometimes, leadership means cutting ties with people who don't align with your mission — even if they're good people.

This is the perfect time to be drinking. With your ears. To us designing secret behavior oppression systems, using outdated language, concentrating blue hair divinity, baking “nookie cookies,” wolf whistling a queen, remembering Barney violence, realizing she's jailbait, finally referencing Seinfeld, bumping off, getting rid of the magic gimp, chewing on a tongue, escalating an argument, corrupting a save file, sacrificing liquor to god, and getting burgled at Reza. When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you…in the form of a podcast, where we're suffering cursed mask after effects, removing a reference to childbirth, grossly misinterpreting “girl group,” requiring Nash's friendship, setting out on a Dragon Quest, sleeping with the fishes, panty raiding, listening to ABBA all day long, reading a diary to go insane, spanking another bottom, over-inflating a bimbo, letting emotions overrule common sense, demanding anime in society, releasing weasel, adding a fifth hero, and wondering if Kyle or Victor is Kyle's worst enemy.
