Is there a reason for these kinds of guys? Podcasters? Guys who are correcting a your/you're situation, reminding teenagers of their mortality, speculating the origin of hole floor dungeons, banging blowing and flicking, eliminating drag references, actually fixing a town, poking dead monsters with a stick, singing songs between two lovers, teleporting to the technodrome, wondering what variety of human god became, breaking the cycle of heroes, swirling around in whirlpools, and getting baked with the Blue Dragon. This is the VIC 4 VETS, Honored Veteran, during Veterans Month in America. SUBMITTED BY: Christopher Slater _____________________________________________________________ Good morning Ken, Thank you to you and Vic for honoring our military members. My veteran is Specialist (Corporal) David Bixler, Specialist Bixler was assigned to the 1st Ballalion, 320th Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. On September 30, 2010, Specialist Bixler was on patrol in heavily mined farmland in the Arghandab(AR-CON DOB) River Valley in Afghanistan. He was leading a team of three Afghan National Army Soldiers, when his unit was ambushed and heavy gunfire ensued. When Bixler saw that one of the Afghan soldiers had veered toward uncleared ground, he ran after him and pushed him to safety. While doing so, Bixler stepped on an improvised explosive device. He suffered the loss of both legs, damage to his spinal cord, traumatic brain injury, and other serious injuries. For his heroic action, Bixler was awarded the Silver Star, as well as a Purple Heart for his wounds. Bixler was the 2011 USO Soldier of the Year. I'm so hot to trot right now. Stay cool while we're entering a spinning picture cut-scene, falling out of the sky, stealing crashed balloon parts, disregarding mortality, beating perverted slime balls, attempting a ritual, shitting on a tradesman, regretting the fool mirror purchase, choosing bow or cane, producing kindergartener music, simulating the rocking of mother, corrupting a song with monsters, blowing chunks, dreaming of a green-eyed boy, and sulking in a hut while we repeatedly listen to awful music. In this episode of the Off-Road Racer Podcast, we sit down with Robert Blanton, a retired Marine, Silver Star recipient, and founder of Warfighter Made — a nonprofit dedicated to helping combat-wounded veterans through off-road racing, fabrication, and community. Blanton takes us through the battles that came after the war — the struggle to adjust, the weight of post-traumatic stress, and the moment he nearly gave up. We talk about how wrenching on a Camaro in his garage became the first step in his recovery, and how Warfighter Made has since given that same opportunity to hundreds of other veterans. Bob Ingram joined the Navy after graduating high school in 1963 to give himself some direction. He was initially assigned to work in electronics, but after getting a bad case of pneumonia, Ingram was so impressed by the dedication of the Navy corpsmen, that he decided to become one. Corpsman training was long and demanding and Marine Corps aid training followed that. After struggling to find a good Marine unit to join, Ingram was off to Vietnam in late 1965 - attached to C Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. They saw a lot of action right from the start. In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Ingram takes us into corpsman training, being assigned to the wrong company, and the joy of being moved to a great one. He then details his actions in February 1966, as he rendered aid to his Marines and also manned a machine gun to expose the enemy position. Ingram would receive the Silver Star.Just a few weeks later, on March 28, 1966, C Company found itself in another vicious fight, and lost a platoon almost instantly. Ingram provided aid to wounded Marines, gathered weapons and ammo from those who were killed and brought it to those still in the fight, and, again, grabbed a gun to target and drive out the enemy. He did all of this despite being shot several times, including once in the head.Ingram will tell us about his long road to recovery, how he learned of the effort to award him the Medal of Honor, and what the medal means to him and the men he served alongside.

Robert Beattie was many things: an architect, a designer of iconic public buildings on Long Island, and a decorated World War II veteran. But most importantly, he was the father of today's guest, Richard Beattie. So we're celebrating Father's Day by celebrating the life and work of Robert Beattie. As an architect, Beattie's specialty was mid-century modern architecture. Working with clean lines, natural light, and an appreciation of the surrounding landscape, he designed many iconic buildings in our area. If you live in the town of Islip, you'll know his MacArthur Airport terminal, the core buildings of Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus, and St. Lawrence Church in Sayville. Richard takes us on a tour of his father's buildings and details his life. Robert was part of the Greatest Generation, earning a Silver Star as an Alamo Scout in the Philippines. He got his start in architecture with the firm Shreve, Lamb & Harmon in New York City. Robert then founded his own firm, Dobecki & Beattie, and embarked on a storied career on Long Island. We discuss the changing architectural landscape of Long Island in the 1960s, the Beattie family's connections to Oakdale, and Robert's devotion to being a father and an architect. Episode 087 – Leading Through Chaos, Carrying the Burden, and Knowing When to Walk Away In this episode of the JP Dinnell Podcast, JP and Lucas deliver one of their most transparent and hard-hitting conversations yet — tackling what it means to lead when the burden gets heavy, the mission gets messy, and the relationships around you start shifting. Coming off a powerful FTX leadership training event, JP shares behind-the-scenes lessons on clarity under chaos, how most leaders fail when pressure hits, and why leadership isn't just about serving others — it's about protecting your standards, your team, and your time. They also dig into the hard truth about relationships: not everyone can go where you're going, and sometimes, leadership means cutting ties with people who don't align with your mission — even if they're good people.

From growing up in a trailer park to nearly becoming a Navy SEAL… from leading drug interdiction missions to starting a jiu-jitsu academy that builds both warriors and men of God—Aaron's journey is one of resilience, purpose, and Extreme Ownership. This conversation gets real. Major General William M. Matz, Jr, U.S. Army (Ret), was appointed as the eighth Secretary of the American Battle Monuments Commission in January 2018 by President Donald Trump, a position he held until March 2021. General Matz is a highly decorated combat veteran of the United States Army with a distinguished military career spanning four decades. As an infantryman, he served in Korea and Panama, and as a company commander with the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action in the 1968 Tet offensive. He served multiple tours in the 82d and 101st Airborne Divisions and was executive secretary to two secretaries of defense, Caspar Weinberger and Frank Carlucci. During the Vietnam War, he served two years with the Navy/Marine amphibious forces in the Pacific and deployed with the 7th Infantry Division to Panama during Operation JUST CAUSE in 1989. Upon retirement from the Army in 1995, General Matz worked nine years in the defense industry. He was first employed by Raytheon Company as vice president, Army Programs; and later as general manager for Vinnell/Northrop Grumman’s Saudi Arabian National Guard Modernization Program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, returning to the United States in June 2004. In 2005, President Bush appointed him to the Veterans Disability Benefits Commission, where he served until the commission rendered its report to the Congress in 2008. He is also past President of the National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS), a national veteran’s organization that advocates in Congress for service members, veterans and their families. Doug Greenlaw sees his life as a series of "lightning strikes." He was literally struck by lightning when he was 13 years old, thankfully making an immediate recovery. He later left Indiana University to join the Army, become an officer, and serve in in the Vietnam War - first as a platoon commander and then as a company commander. He arrived in Vietnam in 1967.In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Greenlaw takes us through his training, including a terrifying story from jungle training, and through his most harrowing moments in Vietnam. Greenlaw details the events of Thanksgiving Day 1967, when his platoon was dropped off in the wrong spot and quickly found itself facing a North Vietnamese battalion of 400-500 fighters. He explains the actions he took to keep his men alive until air and ground support could arrive - and he describes hand-to-hand fighting with an enemy officer in a North Vietnamese tunnel.Greenlaw also tells us his responsibilities and priorities as a platoon and company commander and how he and his men painstakingly looked out for enemy booby traps and explosives. He also reveals the extensive injuries he suffered after a soldier in his company tripped one of those wires. We'll also hear how Greenlaw's military service impacted his impressive rise as a sales and marketing executive, all the way to the top of MTV, Nickelodeon, and VH-1.Finally, we'll learn about Greenlaw's leadership with the Military Order of the Purple Heart, from leading his local chapter to serving as national commander for two years.

In this episode of the JP Dinnell Podcast, JP sits down with Isaac Tauaefa, the president of @jesusandjiujitsu for a powerful, honest conversation about manhood, leadership, brokenness, and the transformational power of Jesus Christ. Isaac shares his raw and unfiltered story—from growing up as the son of a pastor and traveling with The Power Team, to pursuing a college football dream that came crashing down. After a devastating knee injury ended his shot at the NFL, Isaac spiraled into a life of partying, violence, and lost identity—until God wrecked his plans and revealed His. Now a leader, mentor, and disciple-maker, Isaac uses jiu-jitsu, faith, and real conversations to challenge men to step into their God-given calling and lead from the front.
Show Notes: I knew kids in high school and college who cheated. They stole exams or looked at other people's answers or had someone else take tests for them. (Ironically, grammar school was far more honest!) My daughter had a friend whom she abandoned because of her chronic cheating and requests to help her out. She even cheated at sports unless the officials caught her. When you're successful, of course, you don't stop, and she tried cheating in college and got herself tossed out. I'd bet she's in a blue collar job today and stealing from her employer. People asked me to help them cheat and even offered money to me to write a paper or sit in such a way where they could see my answers. I never acquiesced, and there were two quite simple reasons. First, it makes it harder for all the honest kids to stand out, and second, I really don't want someone doing my taxes, or selling my house, or operating on an abscess who cheated to get to those positions. I remember a guy called in by auto shops who would "prove" that the car you wanted to trade in had been in an accident and repaired, hence lowering it's value. I assume he was one of the cheaters who was now making it his life's work. A doctor and bank board member cheated when he sold his house to us in Summit, New Jersey, by removing the lighting that would have shown a rusting furnace, then paying off the inspection guy to overlook it. So I turned down his bank for my loan. Chronic cheating is a disease, a personality disorder. Like smoking or certain drugs, which can addict you, cheating can dominate your life because, unfortunately, the more you get away with it, the more you think you're great at it, and the more you do it—until ultimately caught, sooner or later. You know all those college deans and politicians who, inexplicably, had lies on their current resumes and were cashiered? They had gotten away with it for so long that they began to believe it was the truth. "Yes, I went to Oxford, and yes, I was awarded a Silver Star." You know this Senator, Bob Menendez, convicted of fraud and political corruption (along with his wife). He pleaded for leniency in front of the judge and then walked a few yards over to the press and complained how unfair the judge was. I knew him when he was elected as a "reform" mayor at 20 in Union City, New Jersey. He exhibited then and since the same behaviors that have thrown him into jail now. The more powerful the person, the larger the lies.

In this episode of The JP Dinnell Podcast, JP and Lucas sit down for the most raw, unfiltered conversation they've ever had. Over the course of one week, they faced a series of unimaginable events—a tragic death, a violent murder, and a spiritual confrontation with evil. In the midst of it all, they were forced to lead others, support their families, and show up when everything inside them wanted to break. This episode isn't about tactics or strategy. It's about faith in the fire, the burden of leadership, and what it means to carry others through darkness when you yourself are hurting.

Captain Sidney Salomon served in World War II as an Army Ranger. The Rangers were an elite American unit that trained and operated with the famous British Commandos. Using the element of surprise as their main weapon, the Rangers played an important role in the Invasion of Normandy, the Dieppe Raid, and many other significant campaigns. In this interview, Salomon describes his experiences on D-Day. He took part in the amphibious landing of Omaha Beach with 2nd Ranger Battalion, C Company. C Company was depicted at the beginning of ‘Saving Private Ryan', when Captain Miller, played by Tom Hanks, led them through the landing. It was Salomon's job to storm the beach, climb a cliff, take a mortar position, and then storm a fortified house that held an automatic weapon. On the beach, Salomon was hit by shrapnel from a mortar explosion, and thought he was going to die. Thankfully the injury wasn't that serious, and a medic was able to patch him up. Solomon continued up the cliff and successfully captured the German mortar position, but his unit suffered too many casualties to move onto the fortified house. They held that position until morning. Salomon was awarded a Silver Star for his actions on D-Day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

All you need is googoo ears to hear us forcing Mia to take control of the Magic Guild, sequence breaking a heel turn, addressing a problem but refusing to solve it, sniffing Mia's bed sheets, beating the shit out of Lemia, using knowledge of the past to deal with the present, seeking to get railed, ogling at a birdy leggy bromide, becoming a sensual tomboy, only hiring pretty ladies, playing music from Eternal Blue, and marveling at Mary's lust for Sega CD Alex. In this episode you will hear: • [Marcus] You go through your military career, then we get out, and then go to Hollywood. (19:47} • I've always wanted to do this one for Elliott and for me. It's therapeutic anyway. It takes courage to tell that story. (26:10) • If you do do it, what is it gonna say? You gotta be really sure why you're doing it. (26:30) • It's hard, when you talk to somebody, to tell their story. (27:14) • Having those hard conversations with people. It's kind of difficult. And to put in on film is another level of difficulty. (27:26) • The big thing we were doing was overwatches. Clearance operations, pushing through a sector. Establishing a foothold. (31:31) • Often, we never made it to the next cycle. They would start surrounding us, then we were like “We're out.” Then we'd have to shoot our way out. (32:00) • Everybody got fragged. When you hear a piece of metal land on concrete, it's a very distinct sound. (40:55) • There's nothing I wouldn't do with the guys. Shoulder to shoulder, I'll Walk through the fire • with you guys. When you're by yourself, it's a little scary. (79:45) • Well, if we don't make it, at least we'll all die together. (80:35) • I'd rather die with my bro's, than die alone.
