You ever feel like you're surrounded by a million "likes" and "followers" but still feel completely... invisible? Like, are we just screaming into the void of the internet, or is somebody actually seeing us? And speaking of being seen, has God really noticed all the hard work you're putting in? It's a lot, I know!  In this episode I aim to convey that: You are SEEN by God, especially when you feel invisible. Don't look to people for validation. Go to El-Roi! Even in the desert moments, God is there. Your cry to be seen? God hears it. The next time you feel unseen, turn to God and say, "El-Roi, you are the God who sees me." You are NOT alone, my friend. If this episode touched your heart like a good mariachi song, share it with your friends and leave a review! And don't forget to tag me @biancajuarezofficial. We need to lift each other up. And remember, God sees you, even when you feel like nobody else does.  Until next time,  B RESOURCES/LINKS Takeaways Feeling alone in a crowd is a common experience. The desire for validation is deeply rooted in human psychology. Leadership can be a challenging journey filled with uncertainty. Hagar's story illustrates the struggle of feeling unseen. Being seen by God can provide profound comfort and validation. The need to be recognized is essential for emotional well-being. Isolation can lead to feelings of anxiety and depression. God's recognition is more important than human validation. The journey of faith often involves waiting and uncertainty. Want to unlock a life of true blessing? What if I told you the key might surprise you?  In today's episode, I'm getting real about something that's transformed my life: biblical generosity. I know, talking about money can feel awkward, but I truly believe this message is vital. I want to share with you a conversation I had with my twin sister, Jasmine, that changed my perspective on giving. I'll also dive into what scripture says about generosity and how it's not just about finances, but about a heart surrendered to God. I've seen firsthand how obedience in this area leads to incredible blessings, and I want to share that with you. In this episode, I'm exploring: What the Bible really says about tithing (10% giving) Understanding offerings and generosity that go beyond the tithe The concept of sowing seeds with faith and expectation Sacrificial giving—what it means to give "above and beyond" Why the heart behind your giving matters most How I've experienced blessings through obedience and generosity in my own life I hope this episode encourages you to live generously and to seek those real, deep blessings that come from God. Remember, you're loved, you're valued, and you're doing amazing! Generosity is a key principle in living a blessed life. Tithing is considered the baseline of generosity. Understanding the concept of sowing and reaping is crucial. Have you ever felt like your leadership journey was more about enduring pain than achieving success? In this sneak peek of a leadership development session held at Revere Church, I explore the challenges and pain often associated with leadership. It emphasizes that pain can be a catalyst for growth and the importance of developing healthy coping mechanisms. Drawing inspiration from biblical figures like David, the session highlights finding strength in faith and building a supportive community. My focus is to encourage everyone to embrace their leadership journey, acknowledging pain, and seeking growth through faith and connection with others. Some key topics include: The role of community during crises Pursuing purpose amidst pain Addressing personal pain The value of trust Balancing discipleship with individual beliefs The impact of presence Finding God's guidance during difficult times can bring peace and help overcome the fear of pain and of having to prove yourself to others. Can silence be a source of healing? Are you ready to embrace the power of silence in your life? Friends, I'm excited to introduce the profound concept of a "theology of silence". It is so important to learn to share our stories from a place of healing and wholeness, rather than from a position of woundedness. Using the life of King David as a powerful example, I discuss the vital lessons of: Integrity: Maintaining moral and ethical standards even amidst trials. Honor: Honor up, honor down, and honor all around. Surrender: The profound power of yielding to God's will, even in the face of betrayal and challenges. Feeling lost or overwhelmed as the new year approaches? Discover how choosing a "Word for the Year" can provide clarity, direction, and intention for your life. Friends, I'm back with our annual word for the year episode. My heart is to guide you through the process so that you can discover your own word, which I believe will benefit your personal and spiritual growth.  The 5 Steps to discovering your word are: Evaluate: Reflect on the past year, identify areas for growth, and cultivate gratitude. Think: Connect with your feelings and emotions through meditation, prayer, or silence. Create a List: Write down 10 words, images, or feelings that resonate with your vision for the year. Refine: Highlight the words that stand out and evoke strong emotions. Decide: Commit to your chosen word and use it as an anchor throughout the year. I believe that if you invest time in this transformative exercise, your word will be a tool for setting intentions, finding direction, and aligning your life with your deepest values and aspirations.  This is a personal journey. Take the time to reflect, feel, and choose a word that will empower and inspire you in the coming year. Has pride ever impacted your life? Ready to recognize and address hidden pride in your heart? Bible teacher, theologian, author, podcaster, book coach, husband and father of four, Dr. Joel Muddamalle and I discuss the profound topics of humility and pride. Dr. Joel shares his personal journey, revealing how a humiliating childhood experience shaped his understanding of humility and its significance. He explains that biblical humility is rooted in recognizing God and our true identity as His royal children. Pride, on the other hand, is the elevation of self, leading to chaos and confusion. Dr. Joel emphasizes that humility acts as a protection, prevention, and preservation, and that curiosity without limits can be destructive. The conversation shifts to the crucial role of boundaries and limits in the context of curiosity and desire. Dr. Joel explains how God established boundaries in the pre-fallen world to safeguard Adam and Eve from self-destruction. He clarifies that limits are not punitive but rather a means to prevent us from becoming enslaved to unholy desires. Dr. Muddamalle also explores the concept of hidden pride, which can corrupt the fruit of the Spirit and lead to destructive behavior. He highlights the importance of humility in overcoming pride and accepting our limits and weaknesses. Key Points: Humility: A foundational understanding rooted in recognizing God and our identity as His children. Pride: The elevation of self, leading to chaos and confusion. Boundaries and Limits: Essential for protecting us from self-destruction and enslavement to unholy desires. Hidden Pride: A subtle form of pride that can corrupt the fruit of the Spirit. The Power of Humility: Overcoming pride, accepting limits, and embracing our weaknesses. XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Guest Dr. Joel Muddamalle muddamalle.com  Book: The Hidden Peace: Finding True Security, Strength, and Confidence Through Humility Quote Hidden pride is so deceptive because the conversation is happening in the chambers of the human heart. Humility is a protection, prevention, and preservation. Curiosity without limits is chaotic. Boundaries and limits were established by God in the pre-fall world to protect us from self-destruction. Limits are not a punishment, but a way to prevent us from becoming enslaved to unholy desires. Hidden pride corrupts the fruit of the Spirit and leads to destructive behavior. Humility is the antidote to pride and helps us accept our limits and weaknesses. Do you feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to create a life that you love? Are you ready to take small steps to make it happen? My friend Stephanie May Wilson, a writer, speaker, and podcaster, and I talk about the unique challenges and pressures women face in their 20s and 30s, a time Stephanie calls the "everything era." This is a period marked by significant life decisions, societal expectations, and a whole lot of figuring it out. Stephanie shares her own experiences navigating this tricky terrain and offers some valuable takeaways: Embrace the Power of Choice: The 'everything era' is YOUR time to take the reins and create the life YOU want. It's about aligning your decisions with your values, even when those values don't always align with traditional expectations. Transition to the "I Get to Create It Now Era": Life throws curveballs. Embrace those detours as opportunities for personal growth and course correction. Each challenge is a chance to refine your vision and build the life you love. Don't Be Afraid of Disagreements: Navigating this phase can lead to conflicts with loved ones, especially when it comes to life choices. Use these disagreements as opportunities for open communication and mutual understanding. Listen in as Stephanie shares her personal journey of embracing the "I get to create it now era" and how a move to Spain opened up a whole new chapter of her life.  Follow us on social media at @biancaolthoff and @smaywilson. Stay connected with Stephanie through her adventures.   XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Guest Stephanie May Wilson stephaniemaywilson.com Book: Create a Life You Love: How to Quiet Outside Voices So You Can Finally Hear Your Own Quote The 'everything era' is a time of uncertainty and pressure to figure out life. Takeaways The 'everything era' refers to the period in a woman's life, typically in her 20s and 30s, when she is making significant life decisions and facing societal pressures. It's important to define what success and happiness mean to you personally, rather than conforming to societal expectations. The transition from the 'everything era' to the 'I get to create it now era' is a defining moment for personal growth and decision-making. You have the power to decide how you want to live your life and make choices that align with your values and desires. When life doesn't go as expected, you have options: you can quit, keep moving forward, change tactics, or ask for help. Surround yourself with a supportive inner circle who can provide guidance and advice, but ultimately trust yourself to make the best decisions for your life. Creating a life you love may involve making intentional decisions that fit for a season but may not be permanent. Taking control of your own life and making decisions that align with your values and desires can lead to personal fulfillment and happiness. ⋇ Convoy of Hope - Empowering Women and Girls Together Donate here ⋇ Bianca's new book Grit Don't Quit: Developing Resilience And Faith When Giving Up Isn't An Option ⋇ The Grit Don't Quit Bible Study is now available. ⋇ So grateful to our sponsors! Are you gripping the reins too tightly? Have you ever felt the need to control every aspect of your life, only to realize that control is just an illusion? Today I speak to Sharon Hodde Miller, Pastor, Speaker, Author, and PhD about the often-unacknowledged desire for control. Together, we explore the seductive nature of control, how it often creates illusions of security, and the hidden costs of clinging to it. Some takeaways from our conversation are: Control is an Illusion: We might think we have more control than we actually do, but true control is often fleeting. Exploring the limitations of our influence can be a liberating step. Surrender & Agency: Letting go of control doesn't mean giving up agency. It's about finding the sweet spot between healthy boundaries and trust, recognizing that relinquishing control can lead to greater peace and flexibility. Cost of Control: Clinging to control can manifest in anxiety, stress, and unhealthy relationships. Sharon highlights the benefits of surrendering control and embracing the power of trust in fostering healthy connections. We also discuss the theological and cultural roots of our obsession with control. Sharon offers practical advice for exercising agency instead of constant control. She also challenges us to embrace the benefits of surrendering control in our personal lives and relationships. Let us know how you are letting go of control by tagging us at @sharonhmiller and me @biancaolthoff. XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Guest Sharon Hodde Miller Book: The Cost of Control: Why We Crave It, the Anxiety It Gives Us, and the Real Power God Promises Quote The most free we ever were was not in the absence of boundaries, but because of them. Takeaways Control promises security and peace, but it ultimately betrays us, causing anxiety, complexity, and division. The desire for control has theological roots in the story of Adam and Eve and cultural roots in a society that constantly promises control. Letting go of control is important because it costs us more than it gains us. Instead of control, God gives us agency and influence to exercise within the boundaries He has set. Restoring boundaries, such as limiting phone usage, can help us exercise agency and let go of control. Surrendering control can strengthen relationships and build trust. Some of the insights that I want you to walk away with are how to: Overcome insecurity and use it as a tool for growth Recognize your inner saboteur and challenge its negativity Use feelings of insecurity as a springboard for action, not self-deprecation I've had to battle with self-doubt and the voices in my head that whisper I'm not good enough. I want us to use self-doubt as a tool for growth, not a weapon of self-destruction. Ask yourself ‘If not me, then who? If not now, then when?' XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Quote The beauty of that voice of insecurity is an earnest recognition that I'm not everything. But the dark side of that voice is when we let that voice convince us that we're nothing. Takeaways Imposter syndrome is common and can make us doubt our abilities and feel like frauds. The voice of insecurity can be used as a tool for self-reflection and growth. Humility is a choice and allows us to recognize our limitations while still using our gifts. We should remind ourselves that we are called to fulfill a purpose and use our voices. Asking 'If not me, then who? Do you ever feel like you're going through the motions in your spiritual life?  Many of us crave a deeper connection with God, but where do we start? Today, I chat with John Mark Comer about the power of spiritual disciplines, the practices that can unlock real transformation in your faith. We discuss the following key points: Spiritual Formation: John Mark Comer defines spiritual formation as the process of becoming someone with a greater capacity to receive and give love in relationship with God and others. Spiritual Disciplines: Discussed as "means of grace" that allow us to surrender to God's transformative work. They are practices, not performances, used to offer our bodies to God. Fasting: Highlighted as a way to let go of control and identify the things that control us. Sabbath: Examined as a challenge to our busy culture, teaching the importance of rest and stillness. Comer shares his personal experience with Sabbath and its transformative power in his life. The Three Enemies of Peace: Identified by the desert fathers and mothers as the world, the flesh, and the devil. These enemies hinder our ability to experience true peace. Following Jesus: Acknowledged as not an easy path, but the way to true joy and peace. Sin and Happiness: The impact of sin on our capacity for happiness is discussed. Trusting in God's definition of goodness is highlighted as essential. John Mark also shares his experience growing up in a church that emphasized the importance of Sabbath and how it has shaped his family's life. Let us know how you are deepening your relationship with God by tagging us @biancaolthoff and @johnmarkcomer. XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Guest John Mark Comer https://johnmarkcomer.com/  Quote Working fasting into my regular life has been one of the most transformative things I've ever done. Takeaways Spiritual disciplines are means of grace that allow us to offer our bodies to God and surrender to His transformative work. Fasting helps us let go of control and reveals the things that control us. Sabbath challenges our culture of busyness and teaches us the importance of rest and stillness. Both fasting and Sabbath are practices that can lead to spiritual transformation and a deeper relationship with God. Sabbath is a transformative practice that can bring emotional and relational healing and shape the rhythm of our lives. The three enemies of peace identified by the desert fathers and mothers are the world, the flesh, and the devil. Following Jesus is not easy, but it is the way to true joy and peace. Sin sabotages our capacity for happiness by appealing to our God-given desire for happiness through deceptive ideas. Do you have a “game plan for crisis”? Is your goal to finish well in life? Just as athletes prepare for unexpected challenges, we should also anticipate the potential for crisis in our lives and be ready with strategies. Rest and rehabilitation are two strategies that Jesus used to intentionally take time for rest and healing. This serves as a reminder that rest is not a sign of weakness but a necessary part of our well-being. I shared a framework with my church team that has helped me build a plan to navigate adversity. It is the acronym CHIME which stands for Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning, and Empowerment. This intentional approach helps us face challenges head-on. Friend, I  invite you to reflect on your own lives, consider your responses to crises, and intentionally build resilience. Let me know how your plan for pain is coming along by tagging me @biancaolthoff  XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Assignment Build a plan for pain using the CHIME framework: Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning, and Empowerment. Quote If you don't turn your pain into purpose or meaning, it will be a stumbling block that you can't get over. Takeaways Having a game plan for crisis is essential for finishing well in life. It is important to be prepared for potential crises such as loss, death, unemployment, divorce, illness, and more. Rest and rehabilitation are both necessary for our well-being and growth. Knowing when to rest and when to seek rehabilitation is crucial for maintaining our physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Jesus' example shows the importance of taking time for rest and solitude, as well as seeking God's presence and guidance. Take care of yourself and don't rely on others to fix or heal you. Build a plan for pain using the CHIME framework: Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning, and Empowerment. Know who you are and find purpose in your pain. Rely on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Do you know how to acknowledge and process trauma effectively? Are you in need of strategies to help you through the process? You know I love to talk about how my “Bible Boyfriend” Paul The Apostle had grit, resilience and endurance. But what I had never spoken about before was all of the painful trauma that he had also experienced. Despite being beaten, battered, bludgeoned, and abused many times, Paul found the strength in God to lead in the midst of his trauma.  Ignoring or denying the existence of trauma in our lives is risky and can hinder our healing. That is why vulnerability is key to be able to address the trauma that we're going through. Practice trauma-informed leadership by: Understanding what trauma is and what it is not Having honest and vulnerable conversations about pain Starting the healing process with trusted individuals Trauma impacts different aspects of our lives and it impacts those around us too. Don't allow unhealthy coping mechanisms to keep you stuck in the pain. Seek help from professionals and prayerfully go to God for comfort.  Friend, acknowledging and processing trauma is crucial. Have you ever found yourself avoiding pain instead of facing it? I've been there too, friend. That is why I am sharing a three-part series on healing through pain. In today's episode, I want to start by emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and embracing pain rather than avoiding it.  It is important to build a strong foundation and develop daily disciplines to navigate pain effectively. We do this by identifying the root cause of pain. You can not solve the pain unless you:  Acknowledge that there's a problem: Name the pain.  Diagnose the problem: What's the issue behind the issue? What's the feeling behind the feeling?  Treat the problem: What needs to be fixed? Who can or should speak into this? What is the root? What is needed to heal? Revisit: Be committed to the healing process. Are you  interested in your healing or are you committed to your healing? Identify the pain, sit in the pain and the pain will lose its power. Let's be honest about where we're at while being intentional about our healing. Let me know where you're at by tagging me @biancaolthoff  XO, B RESOURCES/LINKS Homework Identify where your pain is coming from: Pain of growth Pain of self Pain of circumstance What is the root cause of your pain?  Quote The number one thing that I see, people bailing out of their calling, their vocation or ministry or quitting a church, is pain. Takeaways Pain should be acknowledged and embraced rather than avoided. Building a strong foundation and developing daily disciplines are crucial for leading through pain. Do you have a calling as a woman in ministry or in leadership and are facing opposition and resistance? If God called you, He will make a way! I'm always in awe at the stories that I hear from other women in ministry. Some knew their calling from early on. Others, like me, found themselves “unintentionally” entering into ministry and how my ambitions and desires changed over time because of God's call in my life. No one said this would be easy. That's why I share my stories in order to encourage you. I remember how I: Faced rejection from seminary   Was asked to step down from leadership roles  Encountered opposition and resistance along the way Understood my calling and committed to personal growth Despite the challenges, I want you to know that if God calls you, He will make a way. My commitment is to God and to sharing His word. Don't let difficulties discourage you from pursuing your calling. Stay away from comparison and surround yourself with truth-tellers that will help you persevere and not give up.  Friend, it all starts with you. Remember: Be what you want to see! Share your story of perseverance by tagging me @biancaolthoff. XO B RESOURCES/LINKS Bianca Juarez Olthoff - Women in Ministry Quote Don't compare your calling to someone else's. Do what the Lord has called you to do and let Him do the rest.  Takeaways God's calling often unfolds gradually and unexpectedly, and it may require us to step out of our comfort zones. Rejection and opposition can be discouraging, but they should not deter us from pursuing our calling. Women in ministry often face unique challenges and may encounter resistance from both men and women. If God calls you, He will make a way for you to fulfill your purpose. Preaching the word of God should be the focus, regardless of gender or societal expectations. Representation and inclusion are crucial in leadership spaces, and efforts should be made to invite and welcome diverse voices. Men should take responsibility for creating an inclusive and respectful environment for women in leadership. Women in leadership face unique challenges, including the pressure to navigate communication and appearance expectations. Leadership is not easy, but it requires perseverance and a commitment to personal growth. Women should find their voice and be patient, understanding that their calling may take time to fully develop. Surrounding oneself with truth-tellers and receiving constructive criticism is essential for personal and leadership growth. Individuals should strive to be the change they want to see in the world, creating a more inclusive and equitable environment. ⋇ Convoy of Hope - Empowering Women and Girls Together Donate here ⋇ Order Bianca's new book GRIT DON'T QUIT ⋇ The Grit Don't Quit Bible Study is now available. ⋇ So grateful to our sponsors!
