None of Your Goddamn BusinessJohn Morgan Salomon said something during our conversation that I haven't stopped thinking about. We were discussing encryption, privacy laws, the usual terrain — and he cut through all of it with five words: "It's none of your goddamn business."Not elegant. Not diplomatic. But exactly right.John has spent 30 years in information security. He's Swiss, lives in Spain, advises governments and startups, and uses his real name on social media despite spending his career thinking about privacy. When someone like that tells you he's worried, you should probably pay attention. The immediate concern is something called "Chat Control" — a proposed EU law that would mandate access to encrypted communications on your phone. It's failed twice. It's now in its third iteration. The Danish Information Commissioner is pushing it. Germany and Poland are resisting. The European Parliament is next. The justification is familiar: child abuse materials, terrorism, drug trafficking. These are the straw man arguments that appear every time someone wants to break encryption. And John walked me through the pattern: tragedy strikes, laws pass in the emotional fervor, and those laws never go away. The Patriot Act. RIPA in the UK. The Clipper Chip the FBI tried to push in the 1990s. Same playbook, different decade. Here's the rhetorical trap: "Do you support terrorism? Do you support child abuse?" There's only one acceptable answer. And once you give it, you've already conceded the frame. You're now arguing about implementation rather than principle. But the principle matters. John calls it the panopticon — the Victorian-era prison design where all cells face inward toward a central guard tower. No walls. Total visibility. The transparent citizen. If you can see what everyone is doing, you can spot evil early. That's the theory. The reality is different. Once you build the infrastructure to monitor everyone, the question becomes: who decides what "evil" looks like? Child pornographers, sure. Terrorists, obviously. But what about LGBTQ individuals in countries where their existence is criminalized? John told me about visiting Chile in 2006, where his gay neighbor could only hold his partner's hand inside a hidden bar. That was a democracy. It was also a place where being yourself was punishable by prison. The targets expand. They always do. Catholics in 1960s America. Migrants today. Anyone who thinks differently from whoever holds power at any given moment. These laws don't just catch criminals — they set precedents. And precedents outlive the people who set them.John made another point that landed hard: the privacy we've already lost probably isn't coming back. Supermarket loyalty cards. Surveillance cameras. Social media profiles. Cookie consent dialogs we click through without reading. That version of privacy is dead. But there's another kind — the kind that prevents all that ambient data from being weaponized against you as an individual. The kind that stops your encrypted messages from becoming evidence of thought crimes. That privacy still exists. For now.Technology won't save us. John was clear about that. Neither will it destroy us. Technology is just an element in a much larger equation that includes human nature, greed, apathy, and the willingness of citizens to actually engage. He sent emails to 40 Spanish members of European Parliament about Chat Control. One responded. That's the real problem. Not the law. Not the technology. The apathy.Republic comes from "res publica" — the thing of the people. Benjamin Franklin supposedly said it best: "A republic, if you can keep it." Keeping it requires attention. Requires understanding what's at stake. Requires saying, when necessary: this is none of your goddamn business.Stay curious. Stay Human. Subscribe to the podcast. Lets understand what healthy boundaries truly mean, not as rigid walls of protection, but as living, conscious guidelines rooted in self-knowledge. This conversation looks at why boundaries keep shifting, how attachment and detachment coexist, and when boundaries turn self-destructive. We discuss how the body communicates its limits through signals like fatigue, digestion issues, skin breakouts, and even chronic disease and why ignoring these signals comes at a cost. Spirituality can be a powerful force for healing, but what happens when it becomes a mask for avoidance? In this conversation, our guest Ananta Ripa Ajmera explores the rising phenomenon of spiritual bypassing: using spiritual language to escape responsibility, dismiss effort as “divine timing,” or rationalize inaction as destiny.Ananta offers radical responsibility as the antidote: taking full ownership of our choices and recognizing that karma shapes every dimension of life. Drawing on Ayurveda and her own wisdom, she explains how true healing requires more than herbs and therapies; it demands selfless service, emotional honesty, and courage to face our inner wounds.Episode HighlightsSpiritual Bypassing and InactivityReal Meaning of Navratri Karma, Forgiveness, and ServiceBhagavat Gita and Krishna's LessonsThe Path of Radical ResponsibilityTimestamps00:00 – 09:45: Introduction and Spiritual Bypassing09:45 – 22:12: The Goddess Journey Through Chakras22:12 – 24:41: New Beginnings, Forgiveness, and Service24:42 – 31:44: The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita31:45 – 36:52: Friendship with the Self and the Power of Truth36:53 – 42:23: Conflict as Medicine and the Practice of Sthitaprajna42:23 – 51:57: The Path of Radical Responsibility51:57 – 01:01:12: The Essence of Spiritual HealingAbout Ananta Ripa Ajmera A spiritual teacher and 10-time award-winning, 2-time bestselling author of The Way of the Goddess and The Ayurveda Way. But the real headline? Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged, and the internet—and their daughter—is losing it. Tricia and Sandy unpack the romantic reveal, speculate on wedding details (Target registry, anyone?), and debate whether Taylor will headline the Super Bowl halftime show. Full Text of ReadingsSaturday of the First Week in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 310The Saint of the day is Saint Charles of SezzeSaint Charles of Sezze's Story Charles thought that God was calling him to be a missionary in India, but he never got there. God had something better for this 17th-century successor to Brother Juniper. Born in Sezze, southeast of Rome, Charles was inspired by the lives of Salvator Horta and Paschal Baylon to become a Franciscan; he did that in 1635. Charles tells us in his autobiography, “Our Lord put in my heart a determination to become a lay brother with a great desire to be poor and to beg alms for his love.” Charles served as cook, porter, sacristan, gardener and beggar at various friaries in Italy. In some ways, he was “an accident waiting to happen.” He once started a huge fire in the kitchen when the oil in which he was frying onions burst into flames. One story shows how thoroughly Charles adopted the spirit of Saint Francis. The superior ordered Charles—then porter—to give food only to traveling friars who came to the door. Charles obeyed this direction; simultaneously the alms to the friars decreased. Charles convinced the superior the two facts were related. When the friars resumed giving goods to all who asked at the door, alms to the friars increased also. At the direction of his confessor, Charles wrote his autobiography, The Grandeurs of the Mercies of God. He also wrote several other spiritual books. He made good use of his various spiritual directors throughout the years; they helped him discern which of Charles' ideas or ambitions were from God. Charles himself was sought out for spiritual advice. The dying Pope Clement IX called Charles to his bedside for a blessing. Charles had a firm sense of God's providence. Father Severino Gori has said, “By word and example he recalled in all the need of pursuing only that which is eternal” (Leonard Perotti, St. Charles of Sezze: An Autobiography, page 215). He died at San Francesco a Ripa in Rome and was buried there. Pope John XXIII canonized him in 1959. Reflection The drama in the lives of the saints is mostly interior. Charles' life was spectacular only in his cooperation with God's grace. He was captivated by God's majesty and great mercy to all of us. Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

I can't blame you if you've never heard of Ayurveda. I certainly wasn't aware of it when our expert today approached me for the show. Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts.  My guest today is Ananta Ripa Ajmera. Ananta is here today to teach us things that humans have known for thousands of years. The problem is that we've been overwriting a lot of this old, hard earned knowledge with new trends and fads that don't actually serve to help us as much as they hurt us. I was quite surprised by a lot of what used to be considered common sense, which is never a good sign. And I'm guilty of doing quite a few of the bad things she points out. While her background definitely has a spiritual inclination, you'll likely find a lot of universal advice about how to grow and better yourself that doesn't have any direct connection to one philosophy or religion. We'll talk about how it can help with everything from insomnia to eating disorders. ( Www.AnantaRipaAjmera.Com ) ( Www.Amazon.Com "Way of the Goddess" ) Let's relearn old knowledge! There are so many people on so many journeys out there, that it can be easy to sidetrack yourselves. I hope the advice in this episode helps someone to better find their footing and return to their own path. In other news, May is just over halfway done and the rankings have mostly stabilized since last week: 1. The United States, now led by California, Oregon, and New York. 2. England of the UK. 3. Australia, with Victoria taking the lead from New South Wales! 4. South Korea. 5. Canada, now led by Ontario! That's it for this week! Have a great week, a great weekend, and I'll see you all back here next week for another new episode! Until the next episode, pretty please do all the things to help the show: rate, review, like, and subscribe.  Reach out to DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com or on any social media if you want to reach me personally. Full Text of ReadingsThursday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 314The Saint of the day is Saint Charles of SezzeSaint Charles of Sezze's Story Charles thought that God was calling him to be a missionary in India, but he never got there. Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

Now, it's a good word, mind you, transformation, but so much of the work isn't backed up well with exercises or there's a lot of expense. Let's hear from a NTA in her own words, and I quote her, 'I'm inviting you on an enchanted journey from embattled darkness to hope'. My new book, The Way of the Goddess: Daily Rituals to Awaken Your Inner Warrior and Discover Your True Self is written as a hero's journey from a profound feminine perspective. In it, I share my story of how I overcame trauma in all forms of abuse with a spiritual power of love." The Way of the Goddess also contains simple everyday rituals ranging from chakra balancing and spiritual reflection to journal prompts, creativity challenges and more.
