K&F Show #375: The Dukes Meet the Mob! “The Meeting” Dukes of Hazzard Review

The Kibbe and Friends Show

This week on the Kibbe and Friends Show, I have a new mission: save The Dukes of Hazzard! With Coyote vs. Acme finding new life after sitting on a shelf, could somebody do the same thing with the Dukes while John Schneider and Tom Wopat can still climb through the windows of a Charger? Bernie and Corndog naturally help turn my perfectly reasonable idea into something completely ridiculous. We also talk racing after Dallas returned to Jefferson Speedway, the reborn IROC series, and a fascinating—and somewhat sad—story from Jay Chandrasekhar about working with Burt Reynolds on the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie. Plus, our mysterious voicemail caller asks a surprisingly good question: with new 1969 Charger bodies coming to market, could the Charger eventually become the 427 Cobra of the muscle-car kit world? Then it's time for The Dukes of Hazzard, Season 2, Episode 4: “The Meeting.” The Chicago mob comes to Hazzard, Boss Hogg rents them the jail for $10,000, and what follows is basically Good Ol' Boys versus Goodfellas. It's pinstripe suits, limousines, cement galoshes, ridiculous disguises, Daisy distractions, mobsters under nets, and enough Looney Tunes logic to fill an entire episode. Most importantly, this episode features the final jump of Lee 3—one of the original three General Lees. Corndog gives us the history of this very early Charger and explains exactly what happens during the jump that finally kills it. I gave “The Meeting” 9 cement galoshes, Corndog gives it an 8, and Bernie lands at 8.5. It's a wonderfully ridiculous episode of the Dukes and a packed K&F Show to go with it! This week we lost a true member of the Dukes of Hazzard family. Ben Jones, forever known to millions of fans as Cooter Davenport, has passed away. In his memory, we're stepping away from our regular format to revisit something we're incredibly grateful to have in the Kibbe & Friends archives: our full 2019 conversation with Ben himself. We originally spoke with Ben ahead of the 40th anniversary of The Dukes of Hazzard, and he was everything you'd hope he would be. Funny, candid, thoughtful, opinionated, and incredibly generous with his time. He told us how he landed the role of Cooter, how the character evolved, what those early Georgia episodes were really like, his memories of John Schneider, Tom Wopat, Denver Pyle, Sorrell Booke and the rest of the cast, and even his tiny role in Smokey and the Bandit. We also talked cars, Cooter's tow trucks, the incredible stunt work, the departure and return of Bo and Luke, and the lasting phenomenon of the General Lee. More than anything, Ben understood what The Dukes of Hazzard meant to its fans. He and his wife Alma spent decades keeping that community together through Cooter's Place, DukesFest and the enormous fan gatherings that brought generations of Dukes fans together. Ben once told us that no matter what else he accomplished in life, he'd still be Cooter — and that was a very good thing. We couldn't agree more. Rest in peace, Ben Jones. Thanks for the memories, the stories, and for always keeping Hazzard County alive. This week's Kibbe & Friends Show is dedicated to the memory of Ben Jones, the man who brought Cooter Davenport to life on The Dukes of Hazzard and spent decades helping keep the show and its fan community alive. Rob, Corndog, and Bernie look back at Ben's life, his career before and after the Dukes, his time in Congress, the creation of Cooter's Place, and the lasting impact he had on generations of Dukes fans. For this week's review, the guys selected an episode that puts Cooter front and center: Season 6, Episode 12, “Cooter's Girl.” Cooter discovers he has an estranged daughter named Nancy Lou, forcing everyone to confront the difference between the wild “Crazy Cooter” of his younger days and the dependable friend and mechanic he eventually became. Meanwhile, Boss Hogg is chasing another land deal, bad guys are dumping toxic waste, Bo has somehow become a glider pilot, and the General Lee gets involved in one of the episode's best stunts. The guys also look back at some of Cooter Davenport's greatest moments throughout the series—from the wild character we met in Season 1 to becoming the General Lee's trusted caretaker and one of the Duke family's closest friends. It all leads to an ending that feels especially meaningful following Ben's passing, when Waylon reminds us, “Of course, we loved him all along.” Thank you for the laughs, the memories, and all those years of keeping Hazzard County alive, Ben. Cooter, all the grateful people of Hazzard… thank you. The post K&F Show #374: Remembering Ben Jones – “Cooter's Girl” Dukes of Hazzard Review first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

You’re listening to American Ground Radio with Stephen Parr and Louis R. Avallone. This is the full show for August 10, 2026. We kick things off with Iran's audacious demand for war reparations from the United States — and President Trump's brilliant response that flips the script and opens up Iran's own record of terror funding, hostage-taking, and brutality against its own people for the world to see. Then we run through the Top 3 things you need to know: President Trump's executive order spacing out childhood vaccines and trimming the recommended schedule, the DOJ's lawsuit against New York, Connecticut, and Vermont over in-state tuition for illegal aliens, and the Pentagon renaming Joint Base Charleston to Joint Base Lindsey Graham in honor of the late senator. We dig into the disturbing pattern of violence in the WNBA, including the flagrant hit on Sophie Cunningham, and ask our American Mamas whether Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White should be allowed to play in the WNBA after applying under the league's gender rules. We break down new numbers showing marijuana use has overtaken both daily cigarette and alcohol use in America — and why that should worry us more than it does. In Digging Deep, we expose how a soft-on-crime plea deal in Maricopa County let a confessed murderer walk free, only for him to allegedly torch 700 homes in Spokane, Washington. We also cover the discovery that British Royal Navy sea drones have been caught communicating with a server in China. There's a Bright Spot in new Gallup polling showing more Americans — especially Republicans — believe parents should be married before having kids. We call out the University of Michigan for hiding freshman grades behind a pass/no-credit system that shields students from the consequences that build real character. And we close by remembering Ben Jones, the actor who played Cooter on The Dukes of Hazzard and went on to serve in Congress, who passed away this weekend at 85. May your pursuit of happiness bring you joy. Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they focus on AOC trying to giggle away the left's repressive and woke lurch since 2020, Abdul El-Sayed refusing to disavow Hasan Piker and dismissing Piker's comment that the U.S. deserved 9/11, Wisconsin Democrats frantically trying to defeat Francesca Hong in tomorrow's primary, and the passing of Dukes of Hazzard actor-turned-Georgia Rep Ben Jones.First, they fume as New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes laughs and tries to chalk up the left's destructive demonization of police, white people, and anyone who didn't obey every jot and tittle of the Covid rules as some some crazy "Woke 1" phase the party went through. Jim says you can be sure the next level of wokeness will be far worse.Next, they shake their heads as El-Sayed refuses to distance himself from Hasan Piker and labels Piker's contention that we deserved 9/11 as dumb or out of context. Jim and Greg also consider how much this issue will hurt Piker and why these comments are not the same as most other issues. Then, they thoroughly enjoy the desperate attempt by Wisconsin Democrats to do whatever they can to stop Francesca Hong from being the party's nominee for governor. Jim suspects it won't work because the Dem electorate is more radical than even a few years ago. Greg says this is a problem of the Dems' own creation. Finally, they note the passing of former Georgia Rep. Ben Jones, who is best known as Cooter Davenport on The Dukes of Hazzard. Matteo l'ha fatto con il fresco di Londra: una settimana dopo è tornato il caldo! English: to celebrate too early, to count one's chickens before they hatch il palinsesto — La programmazione televisiva: tutti i programmi che una televisione trasmette e i loro orari. Trascrizione Raffaele: [0:09] Abbiamo vinto! Matteo: [0:25] Buongiorno. The Season 1 finale of The Dukes of Hazzard may be one of the most important episodes in the entire series. "Double Sting" takes everything that made those first 12 episodes special and blends it into the formula that would define the show for years to come. You've got out-of-town crooks, a clever scheme, Rosco and Boss caught in the middle of the chaos, Daisy stepping up to save the day, and of course plenty of General Lee action. Looking back, this episode feels like the blueprint for what The Dukes of Hazzard would become. The story centers around a fake quarantine that traps nearly everyone inside the Hazard County jail while a pair of bank robbers disguised as Laurel and Hardy pull off their heist. That leaves Daisy and Cooter carrying much of the action outside the jailhouse, leading to some genuinely fun and memorable moments. Along the way, we get rare nighttime footage of the General Lee with its headlights on, plenty of comedy from the guest stars, and one of the most recognizable stunts of the entire series. Most importantly, this episode features what may be the greatest General Lee jump of Season 1—and one that even non-Dukes fans have to admit is impressive. From the action to the humor to the unforgettable stunt work, "Double Sting" closes out the first season in style. Join us as we break down the episode, uncover behind-the-scenes details, and revisit a true Dukes of Hazzard classic. In this episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, Boss Hogg cooks up one of his most ambitious scams yet when he's tasked with turning over a million dollars in worn-out currency to be destroyed and replaced with fresh cash. Rather than follow the rules, Boss devises a plan to keep the money, collect the replacement funds, and cash in on an insurance claim at the same time. To pull it off, he recruits his second cousin twice removed, Cletus Hogg, making this the memorable first appearance of the lovable deputy-to-be who would become a longtime fan favorite. Rob Kibbe, Corndog, and Bernie McPartland revisit this classic Season 1 episode and break down Boss Hogg's elaborate fraud scheme, the introduction of Rick Hurst as Cletus Hogg, and the impressive General Lee action that fills the episode from start to finish. The guys also discuss the unique charm of the early California-filmed episodes, including the rough-and-tumble stunt work, real driving footage, and the debut of Daisy Duke's updated Road Runner that would become a familiar sight throughout the series. Filled with crooked politics, million-dollar schemes, moonshine mix-ups, and plenty of Hazzard County chaos, "Money to Burn" captures everything that made the first season of The Dukes of Hazzard special. It's an important milestone episode for longtime fans, not only because of Cletus Hogg's debut, but also because it showcases the grounded action, memorable characters, and lighthearted storytelling that helped turn the series into a television classic. Jim Sennett is the manager of repair programs at AAA (American Automobile Association), where he oversees the Approved Auto Repair network of roughly 6,000 shops across the country, about 5,000 independents and 1,000 dealerships, along with the club's emerging technologies work on EVs and hybrids. He came up through Goodyear, starting as a tire changer and working through alignment tech, service advisor, service manager, and store manager across two stints with the company. Between his Goodyear years and his current role he spent nearly a decade in law enforcement before returning to the industry.Jim has been with AAA for 12 years and serves as Vice Chair of the ASE Education Foundation, which puts him at the center of how the industry is responding to the technician shortage in auto repair; both through the certification side and through the apprenticeship program AAA built with NAPA to bring new people into the trade. In this episode…The technician shortage in auto repair stopped being an abstract talking point around 2022-2023, when AAA's approved shops started telling Jim Sennett the same thing in different words: the tows keep coming, the waiting rooms keep filling up, and there's nobody behind the bay door to do the work. AAA's response was to stop waiting for the trade-school pipeline to fix itself and build a parallel one, partnering with NAPA on an apprenticeship program designed to take someone out of a grocery store, a fast-food job, or a closed-down factory and turn them into a working technician in 18 to 24 months.Jim walks through the actual mechanics: $300 a year per person, free for shops already running NAPA, but built parts-supplier agnostic so O'Reilly, Advance, and AutoZone shops are not locked out. The program is self-paced and mentor-based inside the shop, and the apprentice finishes with four ASE certifications; brakes, steering and suspension, A/C, and electrical. He also gets into why the recruiting pitch itself is part of the problem. The trade is still being sold as the "Cooter from Dukes of Hazzard" job; greasy coveralls, wrench in hand, when the actual work is a laptop in one hand and a diagnostic tool in the other. The shortage closes faster when the marketing catches up to what the job has become. The other thread worth following is Jim's story about a Buffalo shop owner who was a few months from closing. Jim sat down with him, looked at the numbers, and made him do two things first: raise labor rates and raise parts margins. The shop is now operating out of its second, bigger location. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: [01:14] Introducing Jim Sennett and his role at AAA[02:45] Early career path from college into a general service technician role at Goodyear[04:26] Overseeing AAA's Approved Auto Repair program[08:49] The three-decade partnership between AAA and NAPA[09:40] Reframing the technician's image in the modern trade[10:36] Formative lessons from Goodyear's management training[13:28] Addressing the technician shortage through the AAA/NAPA apprenticeship[17:30] Rescuing a Buffalo shop through disciplined pricing and margin strategy[21:06] Leading with a firm, fair, and consistent standard[24:35] The under-promise, over-deliver principle and the Five Guys case study[26:48] Closing reflections and hometown conversationResources mentioned in this episode:Jim Sennett on LinkedInAmerican Automobile AssociationASE Education FoundationTread PartnersGain Traction Podcast on YouTubeGain Traction Podcast WebsiteMike Edge on LinkedInQuotable Moments:“These men and women are professional people out there, you got a laptop in your hand now, you're doing more work on a computer than you are turning wrenches.""You find the right person, the right personality for you, and we'll give you a program, and we'll make them into a technician in 18 months to two years.""Always be firm, fair and consistent every day.""I'm always a fan of under-promising and over-delivering.""If you can't be your word, or you can't have someone that believes in you, it kind of sets a bad foundation and we know what happens with bad foundations, the building tends to crumble."Action Steps:Audit your labor rates and parts margins this week, raise both if the math says so.Enroll one career-changer in the AAA/NAPA apprenticeship at $300 a year and assign a senior tech as mentor.Rewrite your tech job postings to lead with diagnostics, scan tools, and EV work, not wrench-turning.Pick one customer promise: timeline, price, or scope, and engineer the over delivery.Join AAA's Approved Auto Repair program to access the apprenticeship pricing and the nationwide warranty.

Hazzard traces the origins of this unconventional organization, from transporting explosives and nuclear materials, to pioneering aeromedical evacuation of the world's most dangerous infectious patients. The conversation moves beyond storytelling into operational reality. With no established protocols, limited knowledge of Ebola and widespread public fear, crews were forced to improvise, adapt and execute under intense pressure. The episode examines the intersection of EMS readiness, public health hesitation and leadership under uncertainty. At its core, this is a study in preparation, risk tolerance and professional duty — illustrating how a small group of individuals stepped forward when systems hesitated, reinforcing the enduring EMS principle: when the call comes, you answer. Key quotes from Kevin Hazzard “This is as scary as it gets.” “It is the largest and deadliest Ebola outbreak in human history.” “We've got to figure out how to transport highly contagious patients — nobody does that.” “They risked their lives. They risked their families' lives for strangers.” “Preparation is the most important thing.” “We are notoriously short-minded … we're not long-range thinkers.” “There are people out there who are willing to step into the breach when needed.” Episode timeline 00:00 – Opening context: Ebola outbreak severity and mission stakes 01:00 – Introducing Kevin Hazzard, author background 03:30 – Origins and evolution of Phoenix Air 08:00 – High-risk missions (including Libya nuclear extraction) 14:30 – Transition to EMS and infectious disease transport 16:00 – Development of the biocontainment system 20:00 – Ebola mission planning and execution challenges 27:00 – U.S. reception, EMS transport and public reaction 31:00 – Leadership lessons and EMS preparedness gaps 35:00 – Reflections on readiness, resilience and future threats Enjoying the show? Virginia State Senator Lamont Bagby has figured out all of you country folks. Senator Bagby says he’s understands all of those country boys and girls getting down on the farm because he watches The Dukes of Hazzard. For Senator Bagby to suggest that he knows about country living because he’s watched The Dukes of Hazzard makes about as much sense as me saying I know about urban living because I watched Sanford and Son. In Part 2 of our conversation with Corey M. Eubanks, we pick up right where things left off—and it doesn't take long before things go completely sideways. Corey walks us through one of the most intense moments of his career during his time on The Dukes of Hazzard—a General Lee scene that was supposed to be controlled but turned into a full-speed collision that sent multiple stuntmen to the hospital. From there, the conversation dives into the realities of stunt work most people never see—operating on instinct with limited visibility, how communication breakdowns can change everything in an instant, and why fear is something to respect, not eliminate. After more than four decades in the business, Corey's perspective is clear: the difference between a great stunt and a dangerous one often comes down to experience, discipline, and knowing when to check your ego at the door. We also get into his modern-day Crash School, where he's teaching the next generation how to do what Hollywood never formally required—crash safely. In the second half of the episode, we shift gears into a full breakdown of the 2004 film Starsky & Hutch—a movie Corey himself worked on. That means this isn't just a review… it's a behind-the-scenes look at what really happened during filming, including a stunt that didn't exactly go as planned (and yes, it made the final cut). It's part interview, part movie review, and all the chaos you'd expect when real stunt stories collide with Hollywood storytelling. Buckle up. The post K&F Show #363: Special Edition Show! Corey M. Eubanks has spent over four decades doing what most people only dream about—and surviving it. In this episode of Kibbe & Friends, we sit down with the legendary stunt driver whose career spans everything from The Dukes of Hazzard to major Hollywood productions, where precision driving, split-second decisions, and a little bit of controlled chaos are all part of the job. Corey takes us back to the beginning, sharing how he broke into the stunt world, what it was like learning alongside the best in the business, and how real-world skills from boxing and rodeo translated into life behind the wheel. Along the way, Corey opens up about the reality of stunt work—the pranks, the pressure, and the moments when things don't go according to plan. From on-set chaos to hard-earned lessons, including a story involving Starsky & Hutch that proves even the best can have a bad day, this is a firsthand look at a career built on instinct and experience. And just as Corey begins to set up one of the wildest stories involving a Jeep and the General Lee, we hit pause—because what happens next deserves its own spotlight in Part 2. There's even a surprise voicemail that sparks a hilarious and insightful conversation about the realities of building a show and finding your place in the automotive world. From there, we jump into our Dukes of Hazzard review of Season 1, Episode 8, “The Big Heist.” A desperate farmer robs Boss Hogg and accidentally implicates Bo and Luke after stealing the General Lee, setting off a classic Hazzard County chain reaction. This episode of The Kibbe & Friends Show delivers a full Phase 4 blend of heart, horsepower, and Hazzard County as we celebrate the life of Robert Duvall, recap Dallas Kibbe Racing's latest national event run, and dive headfirst into one of the strongest early Georgia-era Dukes episodes ever made — Season 1, Episode 5: “High Octane.” Before we get to Hazzard, the guys reflect on the passing of Robert Duvall and his unforgettable presence in automotive cinema — especially Days of Thunder. From Daytona 500 reactions to racing rule debates and short track chaos, Rob brings a full Dallas Kibbe Racing update, including brake failures, podium finishes, and real-world racing lessons from a five-day national event. It's real racing talk mixed with the usual KF nonsense. Then it's time for the Dukes Review — and “High Octane” might just be the Georgia-era sleeper hit. Uncle Jesse breaks probation for patriotic reasons (moonshine-as-fuel, naturally), Boss Hogg plots to steal the credit, and we get introduced to Sweet Tilly — Jesse's legendary moonshine-running Ford LTD. Add in one of the hardest early-season General Lee jumps ever filmed (over a semi on Georgia Highway 20), a one-episode revenue agent, and some serious Charger nerd deep-dives from Corndog, and you've got an episode that reminds everyone why the Georgia-filmed shows just hit differently. The guys break down: • The semi-truck jump and which General Lee likely paid the price • Georgia filming locations and production details • The debut of Sweet Tilly • Early Boss & Rosco Laurel-and-Hardy chemistry • Why this episode feels like the true send-off to the Georgia era It's vintage Dukes storytelling with modern car-guy commentary — exactly what Phase 4 was built for. Why? Because tomorrow is Rory's first day at Chilton! Nothing can ruin this.Except… sleeping in.Rory wakes Lorelai up at 7:10, and they are up against it. The only clean thing Lorelai has to wear is her Dukes of Hazzard look—and she has to go inside and meet the headmaster. Naturally, it takes about two minutes for a dad to hit on her. When they finally make it to Headmaster Charleston's office, Emily is already there waiting. She insists Lorelai take off her jacket, and Lorelai immediately regrets it.Lorelai heads back to Stars Hollow, where everyone is shocked by what she wore to Rory's first day of school.Meanwhile, Rory's first day is off to a rocky start. The classes are hard, she's greeted very coldly by a girl named Paris, and she's aggressively hit on by a dude named Tristan.Back at the Inn, Lorelai is stunned to see the Chilton dad again—he's shown up to ask her out. She shuts it down immediately; dating a Chilton dad would be way too complicated. While trying to open her locker, Rory accidentally bumps into Paris, who's carrying a project for their next class. The teacher tells Rory she has to help Paris, but Paris flat-out refuses. Starting to think maybe Paris doesn't like Rory.Lorelai gets a call from her neighbor Babette saying someone is at her house installing internet. Lorelai did not order internet. Turns out Emily did. Lorelai tracks her down and tells her that paying for Rory's school does not give her the right to meddle. After school, Lorelai and Rory walk through Stars Hollow, and Lorelai asks Rory if she thinks Luke is cute. Rory says Lorelai can't date Luke because his food is too good—and a breakup would ruin everything. It's time for another Friday night dinner. Emily and Richard tell Rory she should join Richard at the club to golf. Lorelai is not thrilled that they blindsided Rory, because of course Rory wouldn't say no to her grandfather. Things start off awkward, but they end up having a really great time. Rory learns more about Richard, and Richard learns more about his granddaughter.Later, Lorelai is shocked to find out Rory actually had fun. To make matters worse, Richard calls Rory the next day. When Lorelai floats the idea of skipping Friday night dinner, Rory says she doesn't want to. Lorelai is clearly bothered by Rory growing closer to her grandparents and picks a fight over Rory borrowing her sweater without asking. They make up, and Lorelai explains that just because she doesn't have a good relationship with Richard and Emily doesn't mean Rory can't.When they arrive at Friday night dinner, Richard and Emily are thrilled to see Rory—once again making Lorelai feel left out. Welcome to Episode 353 of The Kibbe & Friends Show — and yes, this is the second show of 2026, which means we're officially back to doing what we do best: talking cars, talking nonsense, and occasionally learning something by accident. We kick things off with Quitters Day (the second Friday in January when New Year's resolutions go to die), debate the nation's fittest and fattiest states, and then I take you inside my newest obsession: building a full-blown racing sim rig at home with real force-feedback hardware, a real race seat, and even a vibration unit so you can feel rumble strips in your bones. It's part race car, part erector set, and entirely ridiculous. Then it's time for our Dukes of Hazzard review, now available on YouTube as part of Phase 4 of the show. This week we're breaking down Season 1, Episode 2, “Daisy's Song,” one of the original Georgia-filmed episodes. Daisy discovers her song has been recorded — but she never got paid — which sends Bo and Luke undercover to shut down a full-blown record piracy operation run by Boss Hogg himself. This episode delivers major Dukes lore, including why the General Lee's doors are welded shut, plus some of the earliest and best screen time for both the General and Daisy's Roadrunner. Final score from all of us: a unanimous 10 out of 10. With 2026 officially underway, Episode 352 sets the tone for a bigger, broader year ahead for the Kibbe & Friends Show. Rob kicks things off with stories from a frozen Yellowstone adventure that included snow coaches, snowmobiles, and the kind of mechanical failure that feels right at home on this show. The guys also dig into a questionable General Lee listed on eBay, breaking down what's wrong, what doesn't add up, and why details matter when it comes to Dukes history. From there, the crew goes all the way back to the beginning with a review of The Dukes of Hazzard pilot episode, “One Armed Bandits.” This first outing is far edgier than most fans remember—more Smokey and the Bandit than wholesome family TV—with bar fights, crooked politics, and Daisy Duke causing trouble from the start. Rough around the edges but packed with nostalgia, this episode lays the foundation for everything that followed, including the iconic jump over Sheriff Roscoe's car that became part of the show's opening credits for years to come.
