Alle möglichen Games erleben mit Randomizer ein neues Leben. In this episode of Bring the Pain, I go back to my roots and highlight another video game system from my childhood. The Super Nintendo came out during a legendary time for my family, friends, and myself. From betting cash to marshmallow squares, my friend and I were definitely wilding, which gave us some of the best years of our lives. A lot of those years were also spent playing video games with my neither Tommy and my mom. So, for me, video games were always a way that my friends and I always found a way to connect with. I hope you enjoy this episode and all of it's Because this episode features a lot of VGM music, I'm going to keep my comments to a minimum so that you can relax while being taken on a journey to Planet painbringer. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you.Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week. It's a little bit of a mixed bag today as we reach the final proper episode for the games released on the SNES in 1993.We start with the top-down, Gauntlet-like shooter Soldiers of Fortune (aka Chaos Engine). Not much to say about that one here. There's mutants in it. That's neat. Is that a Gundam? Yes! But they aren't allowed to call them that, so let's just call them Metal Marines. That's the second game on tap for today. Finally, we have a JRPG to cap things off. It's Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. Lufia doesn't carry the same weight as a Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire, but does it deserve to be just as loved as those franchises? We'll let you know.

EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal -> https://nordvpn.com/rtg Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee!   This episode was tricky, because there was no way in hell we weren't gonna hit Earthbound up for a re-visited episode at some point, but I feel like I talk about this game all the time. What's left to say??   You know I love it. I know most of you love it. I could've just spent another hour talking about loving it. And we did, for a big portion of the episode. But we also pulled back the curtain a little bit and talked about a few of the minor, nit-picky faults that Earthbound has. Because as much as I adore it, it isn't quuuuite perfect.   My younger brother Josh returns to the show this week, and we went back and forth on one of the most treasured games of our childhoods, on one of the most treasured consoles in history. Earthbound may be mainstream now, but Josh and I loved it back when everyone thought it stunk. Literally.    And before we eat Hamburgers and SMAAASSSHHHh, I slap together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'!   This week, a listener asks if I'll ever do another interview style episode of the show. We get into the Michael Bay TMNT movies, and why us fans need to stick together. And doI have any advice for a new Slay The Sire player???   Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! That brand new ending left me in tears for days! Blaze Knight - A few of my favorite remakes/remasters are FFVI on DS (crank the difficulty up to 11 on this one), The GBA remasters of Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire II (turns the grinding down by half!), and Shining Force GBA (Added story relevant characters and new mechanics). A few remakes I hope to get to at some point: Chrono Cross, Secret of Mana and Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valencia. And a couple I would like to see remade: Lunar series, Lufia series, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn. Sky_Katchr_Gaming - Well I've only played one and that's Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology on 3DS. I never played the DS version but I heard that the art style is great. So someday I'll play it. I'd love to see remasters of the Tales games that are not on PS4 or Switch. Also all of the Mario and Mario and Luigi RPGs on Switch.

This plays very much like Lufia but with some key differences, and we explain and explore these differences and how it holds up today. Perhaps the longest game we've made into a podcast (so far), Lufia 2 is a game with a bad translation but a good story, deep and interesting but also shallow mechanics, and an ENTIRE RANDOMLY-GENERATED ROGUELIKE DUNGEON AS A MINIGAME. Also, we talk about Hyrule Warriors, discuss the merits of a Metroid Musou game, weigh in on the surprisingly positive Apple/Epic court decision, reveal the depressingly dumb reason permadeath Pokemon runs are called "Nuzlocke," and Tom is forced to say "Hoochies." In this episode of the SNES Podcast Greg and Joe discuss the first game of one of the 'forgotten' RPG franchises -- Lufia and the Fortress of Doom! Despite five games being made in this franchise, the games get little notice today and most people, if they recall Lufia at all, think of it as a 'second rate RPG' on the SNES and for the very high encounter rate. We discuss the game in depth and if these feelings are true or not, as well as how the game plays with modern eyes and how it holds up today. Favorites consoles? NES and the Super Nintendo. SNES is my favorite console of all time, easily. I’m also really digging the Switch a lot. I pretty much own every Nintendo console there is except for the Nintendo TV-Game consoles from the 70’s. Favorite games or series? Final Fantasy is my favorite franchise. I’m also a sucker for anything Mario or Zelda. 16-bit RPG’s are my favorite games (CHRONO Trigger, FF3/6, Super Mario RPG, Breath of Fire 1 and 2, Lufia 2). I’m currently playing Shining Force on the Genesis Collection for the Switch. What’s one of your favorite Nintendo memories? I have a lot. I got the NES when I was 4 on Christmas morning. It was a huge surprise. I also have fond memories of how I got the Nintendo 64. I was also an early adopter of the Virtual Boy! Ha! What’s a Nintendo game that you haven’t played or haven’t completed that others will judge you for? I’ve never played any of the Metroid Prime games. I haven’t played a Metroid since Super Metroid. What kind of Nintendo Content do you create? I create gaming-related content (not just Nintendo). Honestly, I just kept most of my gaming stuff from my childhood and after a while, I realized people might like to see my collection so I just started snapping pics! I’m also not a normal collector; meaning I only buy items I really dig or know I’m going to play. I rarely buy something just because it’s a rarity or collectible. What advice would you give someone wanting to start creating their own Nintendo content? Do it for the fun of it. Treat it like a community. Be caring, kind and communicative and you’ll typically be rewarded with more followers and like-minded friends. Also, be aware that people online aren’t always nice. So frequently I see accounts where people get their feelings hurt because of naysayers… It just comes with the territory. Don’t let a few bad apples spoil the fun for you. 98%+ of the people are pretty awesome! Where can we find you and your content? instagram.com/oldschoolgamecollector and YouTube.com/oldschoolgamecollector Do you have a piece of content that you’ve created that’s your favorite? (Please include link) Nah, any of my Instagram content or YouTube content. Seeing as our last episode was late, we've decided to spoil you with another episode this week. Robert and Alva catch up on what they've been playing this week, starting with a shout-out to Jordan Reyne's 600,000 word interactive novel Choice of the Cat, before discussing how to navigate Chaos;Child's depiction of women through a post-Weinstein lens. We also have a frank discussion on whether Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus's "No More Nazis" advertising campaign is cynical, uplifting, or both; appreciate Natsume's fine localization work on Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals; have unmitigated joy in Super Mario Odyssey; and we even do some investigation into the heart of the RuneScape cartel. These are trying times in America. Tensions are high, opinions and thoughts are being flung left and right, and every venture out into the World Wide Web seems to be littered with more random encounters than Lufia 1. How can we navigate this minefield of high-powered opinions without unleashing our ultimate attack? Well, you could either stock up on Holy Water (or Max Repel if that's more your speed), or you can use a little thing called Empathy. MasterWife and MasterJoe use the concept of Back Seat Gaming to talk about the effects of empathizing with others as a means to achieve understanding and establish common ground. No one likes a back seat human. Learn to ride shotgun instead! HEY! Is that Another MHPotW bumper?! BONUS: NES Classic woes, Huemanatee, Link Up! RUNTIME: 43 min
