New Zealand hard rock outfit Devilskin are no stranger to our shores, having supported Halestorm and Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators on national tours.Through those shows, they have developed a special affinity with Australian crowds, led by their aggressive musical approach and cemented by their affable nature which sees the whole band spend long periods of time at the merch table or mixing with their fans. With their first headling tour of this country kicking off next February, guitarist Paul Martin sat down with HEAVY for all the latest."It hasn't been the greatest year for rock and roll," he began. "It's been a tough one overall for all concerned but I finally think we're seeing the sun shine on the bright side of things. We've been pretty lucky over here. Quite a while ago we dropped our social distancing thing so we could get out and tour finally. We've been absolutely stoked. Our August tour started at the end of October but that's just one of the things you have to roll with. We had some great crowds and people were so happy to be out amongst it again. People were happy to be in a crowd and partying again."When asked if the band had a few spots of rust to shrug off before getting over here Martin almost laughed in his eagerness to respond."We've been rehearsing hard and chewing at the bit to get back out there," he affirmed. "The first one was great but it was all over too soon (laughs)".In the full interview, Paul talks about Devilskin's most recent album Red and the story behind some of the songs on it, preparing for a headlining run of shows, Shepherd Reign who they will be bringing as support, how COVID has made bands re-evaluate things and more.

Their last album “made us strangers” earned them a number of accolades including a Canadian Folk Music Award for New/Emerging Artist and the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award. They were also finalists in the New Song Music Competition and won the Grassy Hill CT Folk Songwriting Competition. This husband-and-wife duo balance tender harmonies with darkly poetic lyrics. There are a couple of key indicators that this may be the case. First, there has been a significant drop in the number of homes sold recently. Second, there has been a fairly dramatic rise in inventory. “While early signs of a market cool down are appearing, no one can say what exactly the future may hold. ”Beyond these two conditions, the number of mortgage applications being submitted has dropped to a four-year low. Some of this may be due to rising interest rates and diminishing affordability, but it’s also possible that our market may be cooling soon. The bottom line is this: No one has a crystal ball, but we Realtors do like to keep a pulse on the market. So while early signs of a market cool down are appearing, no one can say what exactly the future may hold.If you have any other questions or would like more information, feel free to give us a call or send us an email. Our August 22, 2018 features an interview with Sean Mann, CEO of Detroit City FC. The season may be over, but there's still a lot of activity with the organization, including efforts to go professional and to roll out their sports complex and bar on the east side of the city. Our stories: - Ford Motor Company has added another piece to its emerging Corktown campus. - Detroit is about to get a giant floating bar of light. The new art will connect two historic downtown buildings: One Woodward, designed by famed World Trade Center architect Minoru Yamasaki, and the Guardian Building, the famed Art Deco masterpiece designed by Wirt C. Rowland. - In Troy, the owners behind Berkley’s Vinsetta Garage and Clarkston Union just opened a Latin American fusion eatery called Gran Castor, which is Spanish for “great beaver.” - In Detroit, the owner of Supino Pizzeria is planning a new pizza joint on Woodward in the New Center. - And finally in Ferndale, a large sign recently went up on the roof of a vacant storefront along Woodward announcing the coming of Brooks Brewing, a microbrewery and pizza oven.  - National coworking and remote office outfit WeWork is expanding in Detroit again. They’re adding another floor in 1001 Woodward. - Detroit is known for its unique animals. For instance, it was just a year ago that there was a Kangaroo running around just a couple blocks from our University District digs. Then there was that whole Tiger thing in the Packard Plant. This one isn’t as crazy, but it does involve a parrot that knows the theme to Game of Thrones and the Addams Family. Don't forget to subscribe to the show in your favorite podcast app.

Today's podcast is dedicated to all of you out there in podcast land who have never attended a live show before. Our August event was so fantastic that we're playing it here for you in its entirety, raw and mostly uncut—this is as close to the real thing as you can get. You're going to hear stories from Erin Rollman, Dan St. Germain, Christie Buchele, Bob Meddles, Haley Driscoll, Timmi Lasley, Sam Tallent, Janae Burris, Kristin Rand, and Josh Blue. These stories were recorded live on August 19 2015 at Buntport Theater as part of an all-comedian special in honor of High Plains Comedy Festival. The theme of the evening was "Crushed." Our theme music is by our friend Whalehawk (aka the Grammy-nominated musician Jake Sanders). Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
