This episode is a re-run of a previous podcast. This summer I am teaching a research reading seminar class at George Mason. It's an online master's class for practicing health and physical educators as a part of our 100% online masters program. This summer, I am launching episodes that I assign in that class.  So part of the class is reading articles, and then part of the class we listen to the expert talk about their research on this podcast. These are all episodes that have launched previously, so maybe you've heard them…but, I know there's a lot of content on this podcast and these are all great podcasts! I hope you enjoy them! And I will be back in mid August with an awesome podcast about the state of PETE in the USA with Dr. Phil Ward! What is quality on-line PE? What do we know about on-line PE? What should we expect when the entire country is forced out of schools and into their homes? Dr. Chad Killian joins me to discuss these unprecedented times. His recent article citation we discuss: Killian, C. M., Kinder, C. J., & Woods, A. M. (2019). Online and blended instruction in k–12 physical education: a scoping review. Among the many individuals who ushered cocktails and bartending into the modern mainstream, Phil Ward's name rings out as loud as any in the industry. Based in New York, Ward has headed some of the city's most prestigious bar programs and created some of the most revered modern classic cocktails. Among them, though arguably nowhere near as recognized as it should be, is the Division Bell, a mezcal-based riff on the Last Word and the topic of today's show. Listen on to learn Ward's Division Bell recipe — and don't forget to like, review, and subscribe! Phil Ward's Division Bell Recipe Ingredients - 1 ½ ounces mezcal, such as Del Maguey Vida - ¾ ounce Aperol - ½ ounce Luxardo Maraschino liqueur - ¾ ounce fresh lime juice - Garnish: grapefruit twist Directions 1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. 2. Shake until chilled. 3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a grapefruit twist (express and discard). Hosted on Acast. Mood Six with Phil Ward in conversation with David Eastaugh   Mood Six were a so-called neo-psychedelic band formed in London's West End in 1981. Emerging from the remnants of punk bands ( Security Risk ), mod revival groups like The Merton Parkas and the VIPs, their original lineup included Phil Ward, Tony Conway, Andy Godfrey, Guy Morley, Paul Shurey, and Simon Smith. Debuting with two tracks - "Just Like a Dream" and "Plastic Flowers" - on the A Splash of Colour compilation, the group found itself caught up in the forefront of the short-lived British new psychedelic revival. Signing to EMI, Mood Six issued their first official single written by Tony Conway, "Hanging Around", but parted from the label when the release of the follow-up, "She's Too Far (Out)," was bizarrely aborted, leaving only white label versions in circulation. 80's artist Toni Basil chose to record her own version of "Hanging Around" and this is included as the B-side to her massive selling "Mickey" single. It was also included on her hit album "Word of Mouth".

It’s December, and time for the final Life Lab Notes episode of the year. The perfect time to check in on our favourite space alien duo - H.A.B.I.T. The Humanoid Aptitude and Behavioral Inquiry Team.  In “Info-Trans Report: The Holidays” we find out what L’Seth Navi and Krraz have been assimilating about some human holidays of fall and winter (spring and summer, in the southern hemisphere, of course). And, for the first time, we meet another Broglian - their Esteemed Sector Commander. Featuring the voice talents of Keith Ferguson and Silvie Zamora, and the engineering, music, and special effects talents of Phil Ward. Special guest Joel Scher as the Esteemed Sector Commander. Written and produced for Life Lab Notes by Silvie Zamora. @LifeLabNotes is on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

The third episode of Life Lab Notes' quirky little alien series, "H.A.B.I.T." This one's called Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc. (Don't worry, there is no Latin in the actual episode.) Krraz and L'Seth Navi have some technical issues, but they don't immediately turn to logic and reason for the solution. Featuring the voice talents of Keith Ferguson and Silvie Zamora, and the underscoring and SFX talents of Phil Ward, the H.A.B.I.T. series is written and produced for Life Lab Notes by Silvie Zamora. It's hard to describe. Writing, recording, and promoting this particular episode was a big slathering of meta frosting on a deja-vu cake. It's also a little serving of chicken-or-the-egg. This episode is about how you name something, and how important is that, anyway? The Life Lab Notes Polymer Players include: Denny Siegel, Abel Arias, Phil Ward, Silvie Zamora, Robyn Roth, and Keith Ferguson. Today's episode was written by Silvie Zamora, with special thanks to Denny Siegel.

With his "Memories from a Brief Air Force Career," Jerry Ward unwittingly inspired the crew here at Life Lab Notes in many ways, none of which involve becoming a pilot, all of which involve being a good, steady, attention-paying, adventure-seeking person. This is part of his story, and some of what we learned from it. This episode was written by Jerry Ward and Silvie Zamora. The Life Lab Notes theme and underscoring were created by Phil Ward. What are the modern classics in the cocktail world? Find out on this week’s episode of The Speakeasy. Damon Boelte is joined by friend of the show and previous guest Robert Simonson, who has just released a new cocktail app called Modern Classics of the Cocktail Renaissance. Modern Classics is the first independent, critical assessment of the original drinks of these recent decades, compiled by New York Times drinks writer, journalist and author Robert Simonson. This brutally honest collection identifies, justifies and presents the authoritative, verified and properly attributed recipes in four categories: the modern classics, the objectively popular drinks that might yet achieve that status, certain drinks identified as critical favorites worthy of more attention, plus a collection of foundational recipes from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s that helped set the stage for today’s cocktail renaissance. “Part of the reason I hang out at Long Island bar is that Toby Cecchini and Phil Ward regularly bartend there and I can ask them directly for the drinks they invented.” [15:00] — Robert Simonson on The Speakeasy
