In this episode we are back with a treasure trove of Disneyland Paris insights  — all inspired by a very special email from listeners across the pond in the USA. (Shoutout to our international Disney fans !) Whether you're a first-timer or just someone who enjoys obsessively researching the latest park details, this episode might be your new best friend. Think of it as a Disney trip GPS, but with more scope for bad jokes and fewer reroutes.  What's on the itinerary?    - Getting there and being there: from airport hacks (TGV or bust!) to navigating the park like a pro.  - When to visit and dodge the crowds (hint: Ooparc is your new best friend).  - Dining decently: why some restaurants are worth the reservation, but maybe raise your DLP snack game.  - The scoop on Walt Disney Studios — because who doesn't like a peek behind the walls?  - Do-Not-Miss DLP attractions: from the legendary dragon under Sleeping Beauty's castle to Big Thunder Mountain - just don't miss your Premiere Access slot ! - Using the Disneyland Paris app: for the full experience don't let your phone run empty. Extra pro tip: Beth's official review of DLP coffee? It's not as good as Joffrey's at WDW — but hey, you take what you get! So grab your mouse earphones, as we hope to turn your Disneyland Paris trip from “meh” to “MAGICAL!” Remember, a little planning + a lot of Nutella = the perfect DLP day. Hit subscribe, leave us a review, and share the magic — because Disneyland Paris is for Everyone!

Finally, the Imagine Key is the new SoCal Select Pass with the most blockouts, only available to SoCal residents, 2 reservations, and 10% off select merchandise and dining for $399. While you might not know producer John Davis' name, I promise you've seen his work. As the Founder & Chairman of Davis Entertainment, he's produced over 100 feature film and television projects in his career and his movies have collectively grossed more than $5 billion worldwide. You can check out his full resume over on IMDB. With his latest film, Jungle Cruise, now playing in theaters and available on Disney+ with Premiere Access, I recently landed an extended interview with Davis and John Fox, President of Production at Davis Entertainment, to talk about making the film.During the wide-ranging interview, they shared some great stories about making Jungle Cruise, how they landed Dwayne Johnson, and balancing the nods to the ride with a great story. But the best thing they shared was what it was like to visit the secret Disney vault in Burbank with Dwayne Johnson and Sean Bailey (the president of production at Walt Disney Studios) in preparation for making Jungle Cruise. I've heard about the secret vault many times but very few people get inside. In addition, Davis and Fox talked about talked about how the movie industry has changed during Davis' career, how the industry has shifted to an IP driven model over movie stars, having studios that aren't as willing to take risks, how Davis been trying to make Tricksters in the Madhouse (based on the true story of the Minneapolis Lakers playing the Harlem Globetrotters in 1948) for thirty years, how they're shooting a movie using The Mandalorian technology, and more. Film Surfing with Danny & Doug

Join us for our review on Cruella now available on Disney+ with Premiere Access. Disney+ describes the film as " an all new live-action film starring  Academy award winner Emma Stone, about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious-and notoriously fashionable villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. The movie is set in the mid 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, following a grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella's flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella. It is directed by Craig Gillespie of "I Tonya" fame."

For an additional $55, the ticket can be upgraded to a park hopper. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12975/Disneyland_Releases_Summer_2021_Ticket_Offer With the 4th of July, the fireworks officially returned to Disneyland! Mickey's Mix Magic lit up the night with a special 4th of July segment added to the end. The crowds for this performance were huge and looked like Disneyland before the pandemic. Once the show was over, getting out of the park took a while since the park closed soon after. – https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ With the recent 4th of July celebration here in the US this past week, the Disney Parks Blog posted about the Flag Retreat Ceremony and it returning to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom on July 1st. Disneyland's flag retreat has been happening daily since the reopening on April 30th. The ceremony is one of the park's oldest traditions. The flag retreat ceremony happens daily in the late afternoon in Town Square. Check with Guest Services for exact timing. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/time-honored-flag-retreat-ceremonies-return-to-walt-disney-world-resort-and-disneyland-resort/ The Disneyland Hotel has reopened along with a couple of it's famous establishments. Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar and Tangaroa Terrace both welcomed guests back for their great food and drink options. The Tangaroa Terrace bar is open 11am to midnight, and Trader Sam's is open 4pm to midnight. The bars have a 90 minute window to enjoy your food and beverages, to allow for more guests who are waiting to get in. – https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ Trader Sam is celebrating at the Disneyland Hotel! The Enchanted Tiki Bar opened in 2011, making this their 10th year! To celebrate, a limited-edition pin inspired by the exterior of the location. The pin opens up to reveal a zombie head mug, along with a tiki! The pin is limited to 3,000 and is available on shopDisney.com for $19.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/02/trader-sams-is-celebrating-its-10th-anniversary-in-disneyland-with-a-limited-edition-pin/ It is just the beginning of summer, but it is so hard not to look forward to fall and Halloween! The park calendar has the Haunted Mansion going down for refurb from August 15th through September 3rd. This typically means only one thing! Haunted Mansion Holiday could be returning this year! Disney has not confirmed this at this time, but it seems likely. – https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ Guests are once again enjoying the frosty peaks of Matterhorn Mountain, since it has reopened as of July 2nd. Also, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln also returned to the Opera House this week for guests to enjoy and take in some great air conditioning. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/02/photos-matterhorn-bobsleds-has-reopened-in-disneyland/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/07/photos-video-great-moments-with-mr-lincoln-reopens-at-disneyland/ and https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ Coco is coming to the parks, but not exactly in the way we had imagined. On July 17th, a new Coco scene will be coming to Mickey's PhilharMagic in Disney California Adventure. “Un Poco Loco” will anchor the new scene, with Germaine Franco, one of the original composers from the movie, producing the score that is unique to the show. Disneyland Paris will also debut the addition on July 17th, with Disney World getting it for their 50th anniversary. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/disney-and-pixars-coco-coming-to-mickeys-philharmagic-on-july-17/ Disneyland Paris welcomed guests back to its parks recently, and with that a new FastPass option that may come to the US parks as well. Premiere Access, not to be confused with the same name as Disney+ Premiere Access, allows guests to purchase one “Premiere Access” at a time, ranging from $9.50 to $17.75, depending on the attraction. Some attractions will also have a virtual queue, which could mean the only way to ride an attraction is to pay for it. – https://www.micechat.com/295719-disneyland-update-summer-gets-normaler/ With all the great, happy news coming out of the resort lately, there is a bit of disappointing news as well. Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel, along with the PCH Grill at Disney's Paradise Pier hotel are permanently closed. Disneyland officials have said that “options are being considered” for both locations. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/07/01/disneyland-permanently-closes-2-restaurants-including-a-steakhouse-rich-in-disney-history/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/02/news-2-restaurants-set-to-permanently-close-at-disneyland-resort/ The World of Color lagoon has some sad sights for fans of the nighttime show. The wooden structures that house the show lighting near Pixar Pier have been removed, showing extensive work in progress. This means that it is unlikely that the show will return in the near future. – https://www.micechat.com/295719-disneyland-update-summer-gets-normaler/ Maurice's Treats at the Princess Fantasy Faire has a new sweet menu item. The new item is a trio of Madeline cookies themed to Snow White, Belle, and Aurora. Snow White is flavored like chocolate chips, Belle has a citrus flavor, and Aurora tastes like raspberry. The treats have a mild flavor and are not overly sweet. They are not on the menu, so guests may have to ask for them. The trio is $6.49. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/01/photos-can-you-guess-which-princess-inspired-these-new-disneyland-treats/#more-515248 Luca fans will be very excited for this next DIY treat! Luca director Enrico Casarosa has posted his recipe for Trenette al Pesto! The recipe provides step-by-step instructions that are also illustrated with characters from Luca. This may have to be something we make soon! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/28/recipe-how-to-make-trenette-al-pesto-from-pixars-luca/ A new Loungefly backpack has been spotted in the parks. This one is unique in that you can attach your Minnie headband to the backpack, adding some additional flair. The bag itself is white, with Minnie ear headbands in different colors. The backpack is for sale at World of Disney for $75. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/07/photos-new-minnie-ear-loungefly-backpack-allows-you-to-attach-ear-headband-to-the-bag/ Discussion Topic: Evan – Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/evandisneydesign

This week I wanted to get back to some reviews, and make some recommendations to the listeners of things I watched/listened to lately. This episode has three of them, and they're all linked by a common theme: Is aiming for popularity justified in making creative choices and decisions, or does it have a way of poisoning the story you were trying to tell in the first place? Popularity is a funny thing. In many ways, it signals success to people. Should that be the only goal though? Is it not also successful to tell the story that you wanted to tell, regardless of how it's perceived? This isn't a conversation of good vs. bad decisions, but an analysis in perspective when starting a creative venture, and the way that outside pressures can get to you if you're not careful. I thought all three of these things bucked the trend, and found a way to stay true to themselves, despite some decisions that could have really gone either way. First, I talked about "Pose" which had its series finale recently, and I watched it through teary eyes, just like you will if you take my advice. It was one of the best shows I've seen on TV lately, and I don't just say that about anything (and if you liked the clip at the end of the "Pose" section of the pod, click here for the video version) Up second was "Raya & The Last Dragon" which is available on Disney + for no extra charge, but did launch under their "Premiere Access" feature, costing an extra $30 when it came out. Did that turn people away? Probably. Can we blame the stupid pandy? Definitely. Either way, it's an interesting study. Last, but certainly not least, was the new album by the "Black Keys - Delta Kream." This album felt like a bit of a new and different direction for them, which is always a scary leap to take for a band. Check it out, take my recommendations, or don't...but definitely do. While you're at it, follow the pod on Instagram and Twitter for more behind the scenes peaks into my weird brain, and info about past/upcoming episodes. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

The Cinematic Schematic returns for a review and spoiler-filled discussion of Walt Disney Animation's latest film exploring a post-apocalyptic southeast Asian fantasy, Raya and the Last Dragon. Rejoining us for this conversation is our resident animated film fan, Lauren Weingart, founder of Video Peach Productions. After a full year away from a theater, the slow release of blockbuster-quality studio films had come to a crawl. That is with a handful of exceptions, including Disney's latest $30 Premiere Access release. Raya and the Last Dragon is about as big a scope you can get with a Disney movie. It's set in a fantastical world that had been ravaged by evil. The only way our hero, Raya(Kelly Marie Tran), can hope to save her world is by taking a globe-trotting, Indiana Jones-style adventure to reassemble a magical dragon gem with her new partner, Sisu(Awkwafina). It features sword fights, treasure hunts, and a timely message. Does it deliver on something fun and new? Is it worth the $30? We discuss all of this and more in today's conversation. Make sure to tune in. According to IMDB, Raya and the Last Dragon is described as: In a realm known as Kumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an […] The post Raya and the Last Dragon – The Cinematic Schematic Review appeared first on The Cinematropolis.

And where are Billy and Tommy!   Raya and the Last Dragon premiered on Disney+'s Premiere Access and in theatres on March 5th. Richard and Sarah share a spoiler-free review and help you decide whether or not to purchase Walt Disney Studios' latest animated feature film. Raya features the voices of Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico from The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker) who turned in a fantastic and emotional job as Raya. Akwafina voices Sisu the Dragon. Story Synopsis: Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. However, when sinister monsters known as the Druun threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. “Raya and the Last Dragon” takes us on an exciting, epic journey to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it's up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she'll learn that it'll take more than a dragon to save the world—it's going to take trust and teamwork as well.Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada are directing, with Paul Briggs and John Ripa co-directing. Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho are the producers, and Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim are the writers on the project.FOLLOW USFollow Daniel on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow Shahbaz on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow Anthony on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow The Movie Podcast on Twitter, Instagram, Discord, and YouTube

This is the way. We're finally talking about what can be considered the best thing to come out of Disney+: The Mandalorian. In this episode, we're discussing Season 1. Before we get to our discussion, we talk about the removal of a precious item from Disney+, and some Disney+ News about some new exclusives coming to the streaming service and Premiere Access, the possibility of a non-Disney MCU movie coming, and an update on the Percy Jackson show. When we get to discussing the first season of the Mandalorian, we talk about our favorite and least favorite episodes of the season, our thoughts on the Child and its role in the show, and some of the other characters. Blake's favorite episodes are the episodes people find the weakest, Hayden talks about whether Clone Wars Season 7 or Season 1 of The Mandalorian is better, and Wiese is wanting to play "Luke Airglider" in the better draft of Raya and the Last Dragon. Click here to look at our ENTIRE Disney+ Catalog Ranking List, and figure out what we think (based on our rating averages) is the best item we've reviewed so far, and the worst!
