Send us a textAs millennials that have experienced one setback after another, many of us may feel a little disheartened as we fail to achieve some of the exciting life milestones that we thought we'd have by now.  With housing costs and the cost of living in general becoming more and more out of reach, we may never achieve the same American Dream that we were sold.  But maybe our legacy isn't about success as we were raised to understand it! Maybe our legacy is making sure that the destructive patterns that were passed down to us from generations before don't get passed down to generations after us.  That's the topic of this week's episode of The Millennial Reset- what it means to break the cycle and raise the next generation based on a framework that stems from self-expression, self-worth, and what's true today, instead of what we've been conditioned for in the past.  We're joined once again by licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Abena Berry, as we break down three important concepts:Understanding how trauma gets passed down from one generation to another, oftentimes completely unconsciously.Self-help techniques to begin uncovering some of the conditioning and subconscious programming that may have gone unnoticed until now.How to make sure that toxic generational patterns don't get passed down to our children by effective modeling.  You can follow Dr. Berry on TikTok and check out her new book on Amazon. Support the showvisit www.themillennialreset.com/podcast to subscribe and listen to all episodes.

Send us a Text Message. In this week's episode of The Millennial Reset, we're joined by licensed clinical psychologist, and mental health contributor to Good Morning America, Dr. Abena Berry, to learn what the heck it even really means to "find yourself" after decades of conditioning and "masking up" to fit with societal expectations.Millennials have always dreamed of a life with more purpose and creativity, but that's a real challenge when we've spent so many years of our adult lives walking around pretending to be an imposter of what we were taught about success and happiness.  Dr. Berry provides us with a few valuable tips to guide us millennials through this healing journey of getting back to your authentic self:Learning never stops. Learning about yourself is an ongoing journey. We struggle, we grow, we learn, and we CHANGE.  New learning and insights come with embracing the learning in times of change. You are not your conditioning. Psychology has already shown us that we are NOT born as blank slates, but that is how we are raised by default.  Our parents and society "program" us based on what they think will help us, but in reality, it keeps us living in a confined box, rather than living our lives true to US. YOU are the new parent. We can live our lives waiting on someone else, such as our parents, to change, or we can assume the responsibility of becoming the new parent to your brain that you always needed.  Do a values inventory, check-in with your beliefs, and start being kinder to yourself! Reparent yourself for the way you want your brain to be wired, instead of the way it got wired by others. Bottom line, there's nothing to "find" when it comes to your authentic self.  It's in you and always been in you, but you just have to uncover it first.  That's where the true inner work happens! Lured Up Podcast 305 Stream Date - 4/23/2024 Publish Date - 4/26/2024   When the Rediscover GO trailer dropped the Community was hyped and social was filled with speculation and hope of how the game would be updated. The Rediscover Yourself campaign was first up, and we are sad to say that it was one of Niantic's biggest misses to date. This isn't poor servers or a latency filled experience, but rather a slew of unpopular decisions that Niantic has made to advance their new Avatar update. We will take a dive down the Community rabbit hole at the end of the episode.   We start things off with a recap of our Bellsprout Community Day experiences, and how triple Stardust is always a popular bonus. Our first gameplay story of the week is about how Sustainability Week has changed over the years, and unfortunately not for the better. We look back to 2021 when the event actually had a real world component to it by partnering with non profits to promote cleaning up the environment. Each year since then the event has lost some of its magic, culminating in this year's event, which seems to be falling flat. Being overshadowed by the Rediscover Kanto spawns didn't help things either.   Cleffa Hatch Day will be rounding out the month taking place during the final weekend of April. The big story of the week takes us back to the Community reaction to the Rediscover Yourself update. From missing genders, to clipping assets, to a very strange art style, there isn't much if anything that is getting high praises this week. While inclusivity may have been the goal of this update, it may have backfired.   We look to a pair of articles from GO Hub that cut to the chase and identify many of the issues that the Community has with the update. The site also touches on the sensitive nature and purpose of the update outside of simply an avatar graphical update. The backlash online has been significant, and Niantic has been getting dragged on this one, with a lot of toxic energy fueling some pretty negative stuff. To be plain, this week has been a disaster.   We want to be clear that we really believed in this update, and see the importance of greater options when it comes to character creation. We also identify however, that the execution of the update completely replacing the existing Avatar aesthetic rather than simply being in addition to it, has us all scratching our heads as to why this Niantic handled it like this. There are other important things to discuss as well regarding the sale of digital goods and how purchased items may not look or fit the avatar in the same way that originally influenced the purchase. There is a lot to unpack here.   Bellsprout Community Day - https://bit.ly/LU304Bellsprout  Sustainability Week 2021 - https://bit.ly/LU305Sustainability2021  Sustainability Week 2022 - https://bit.ly/LU305Sustainability2022 Sustainability Week 2023 - https://bit.ly/LU305Sustainability2023  Sustainability Week 2024 - https://bit.ly/LU305Sustainability2024  Cleffa Hatch Day - https://bit.ly/LU305Cleffa Rediscover GO - https://bit.ly/LU305RediscoverGO  GO Hub's Hot Take - https://bit.ly/LU305GOHubAvatar  GO Hub's Follow Up - https://bit.ly/LU305AvatarFeedback  Rediscover Kanto - https://bit.ly/LU305RediscoverKanto  Turkey Play Store - https://bit.ly/LU305Turkey    LuredUp@PokemonProfessor.com     Voicemail and SMS: 732-835-8639    Use code FULLHEAL at https://tgacards.com/ for 10% off your order!   Support the show by bookmarking and shopping at TCGPlayer.com using this link - https://bit.ly/TCGPlayerAffiliate    Connect with us on multiple platforms! https://linktr.ee/PokemonProfessorNetwork    Hosts Ken Pescatore Adam Tuttle   Writer and Producer Ken Pescatore   Executive Producer  Paul Bhatt   Show music provided by GameChops and licensed through Creative Commons   ▾ FOLLOW GAMECHOPS ▾ http://instagram.com/GameChops http://twitter.com/GameChops http://soundcloud.com/GameChops http://facebook.com/GameChops http://youtube.com/GameChops http://www.gamechops.com   Intro Music Lake Verity (Drum & Bass Remix)  Tetracase GameChops - Ultraball http://gamechops.com/ultraball/ https://soundcloud.com/tetracase  https://soundcloud.com/MegaFlare0   Break Music National Park Mikel & GameChops GameChops - Poké & Chill http://smarturl.it/pokechill https://twitter.com/mikel_beats   Outro Music Vast Poni Canyon CG5 & GlitchxCity (Future Bass Remix) GameChops - Ultraball http://gamechops.com/ultraball/  http://soundcloud.com/cg5-beats https://soundcloud.com/glitchxcity Pokémon And All Respective Names are Trademark and © of Nintendo 1996-2024 Pokémon GO is Trademark and © of Niantic, Inc. In this episode of The Millennial Reset, my guest Beth shares her inspiring story of truly stepping in to her passion for making music that makes a difference!  Like so many of us, Beth experienced her fair share of rejection along the way in her corporate career path, leading her to base her level of worth on the job title.  But a series of events created a drive in Beth to pursue the thing she had talked herself out of for so long, because we so often talk ourselves out of our passions in place of safety and comfort.  So instead of making excuses for all the reasons she shouldn't do the things she loves the most, Beth listened to her intuition instead.  Beth now creates her own music, inspired by her journey of rising up from the ashes and stepping into her most authentic identity, and opening yourself up to the limitless potential that lives in all of us.  You can follow Beth on social media or spotify and listen to her new releases:TikTok: @beth_merill_musicInstagram: @beth_merill_musicYoutube: Beth MerillSpotify: Beth Merill$40 Off Apollo Neuro WristbandImprove your HRV (heart rate variability) and resiliency to stress with this evidence-backed device!Mindset Makeover Annual PlannerStart creating more focus, inspiration, organization, and intention for your day! Audrey Hazecamp co-author of Shake it UP and co-faciliator with the renowned Kathlyn Hendricks, PhD. speaks to us about the wonder as a tool for self-discovery and transformation Summary: In this episode, Giovanna interviews Audrey Hazekamp. Audrey opens up a new world of possibilities using curiosity and wonder. What kind of questions do you ask yourself? What opens up for us and the world when we give ourselves the permission to wonder? Tune in to find out how she considers both her body and emotions as her allies to living a life of purpose.   Show Notes: Introducing Audrey Hazekamp on the show Audrey has always been curious Her level of curiosity became an inconvenience to the adults around her For the longest time, she took her curiosity underground by covering it with facts and science Genuine wonder is a superpower Genuine wonder is a place for Audrey’s intellect to create new possibilities Wonder Builder and Wonder Builder Cards Audrey has a Wondercraft Course Giovanna is a chronic asker of “Why?” What Audrey loves now is using science as a way of supporting her philosophy of wonder “Science is beginning to show up with hard evidence of why wonder and curiosity are evolutionary tools” Audrey encourages you to try and see what happens to your body when you criticize yourself Audrey’s body becomes narrow and she pulls in to create a shield around herself She’s a big fan of letting herself notice the experience Audrey doesn’t ignore self-blame and criticism, but is applying wonder Your body is your ally Transition can be more awkward than elegant when creating your own reality Hold something with an open palm The semantic work The thought follows the experience Physiology is what generates the thought Physiology informs the mind to create critical thoughts The “fear melters” process explained Wonder is a big part of opening space The power of wonder opens up so much The sound of wonder is a really pleasant, vibratory sound Using the sound of wonder and the phrase, “I wonder,” already makes a bridge from fear Your ego will always try to contradict wondering Part of the issue of wonder is that it’s simple Audrey’s favorite question is, “I wonder what is genuinely mine to do?” Audrey was a professional hero for most of her life Her senses opens its doors to invite the resolution The current political situation led Audrey to the thought of her living in an unfriendly universe She wonders how she can be a source of a friendly universe Be courageous enough to ask questions without any direct answer Ask wonder questions with a “How” or “What” because “Why” is tricky “Why is probably the most dangerous question you could ask your brain” Criticizing vs applying wonder and curiosity Audrey loves words that give her a quality, “tuning fork” moment Audrey’s Book, Shake It Up: Refresh and Rediscover Yourself through Wonder and Body-Mind Adventures Audrey thanks Oxana Holtmann, her co-author All the pages of the book are invitations to express appreciation—from blame to wonder The book is participatory Part of Audrey’s resourcefulness is knowing who to ask Learning through wisdom or someone else’s mastery helps you learn without having to create the experience Audrey talks about verbing Verbing is an invitation to try on different action verbs Audrey shares her client as an example Audrey is a fan of the word “engage” “I am my best client” – Am I the living example of what it is I’m talking about? Audrey considers herself a self-appreciation adventurer Audrey had medical issues that caused a lot of trauma in her life She built the “American Dream” everybody wanted to have – she had a great career, home, and living Deep down, Audrey had a sense of dissatisfaction She started asking existential questions “I need to be willing to risk” Part of the Audrey’s essential qualities is to be of service She left her home in Michigan and moved to Santa Barbara Audrey doesn’t recommend her way to everyone “It’s awkward before it’s elegant” All of the feelings Audrey had were all in service to her creativity It takes practice to see your emotions as allies Let yourself soften and ask for support when you need it The more transparent Audrey becomes, the more access she gets to her primal, innate power Connect with Audrey on her website Giovanna closes the podcast 3 Key Points: Curiosity and wonder open up a new world to any person who starts to access them. Ask what is genuinely yours to do and use that to start a new life of wonder. Begin to think of your emotions as allies.
