This episode was inspired by a conversation I had with my father. Like many topics I cover in this podcast, my own life is the testing ground where I attempt to choose LOVE over FEAR, and share with you the things I've learned.  Today I'm talking about the importance of knowing what your center is - the lens through which you see the world and relationship that shapes your values, thoughts and behaviors.  There are many different centers you can have. You can be Spouse centered, Money centered, Family centered, Work centered, Possession centered, Pleasure centered, and more.  Each of these centers has a consequence. The person who is Spouse centered, for example, feels secure when their spouse treats them well, and insecure when they don't. The person who is Money centered derives their sense of self worth from their net work.  Each center carries with it a way of looking at and relating to the world.  As you can see by now, these centers are incredibly important because they shape how we see the world. Quick note: the centers I'm referring to come straight from Stephen Covey's book The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People.  In this podcast episode I share with you a consequence of being Family centered, and how relationships hinge on not only knowing your loved ones center, but also understanding how those centers shape how they perceive the world and how they prefer to be treated.  What you'll hear in this episode: A explanation of what it means to be Family centered The 5 Love Languages The importance of knowing not only your center and your Love Language, but that of the people closest to you STRUGGLING WITH CONSISTENCY?  Download the free "trust account" app from the YourDay Balance Game, and start building trust with YOURSELF today!  Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.balancegame.ydbg iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ydbg-watch-play-discover/id1489276659 FEELING THE IMPACT OF CODEPENDENCY? You've probably heard the experts talk about this habit and how it creates distraction, contributes to poor sleep, and perpetuates your technology addiction. They aren't wrong, yet there's a bigger point that these experts are not talking about. In this episode we continue to focus on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People. Specifically, the 2nd habit, Begin With The End In Mind. To begin with the end in mind means you start with a clear understanding of your destination. It means to know where you're going so that you better understand where you are now so that the steps you take are in the right direction. This episode asks the athlete to create an image, a blueprint, a plan of what he/she wants their basketball journey to be and create the actions steps to make it happen. It challenges the athlete to take charge of their journey by taking personal responsibility to make their vision come to fruition. Vision. Requirements. Current Status, Action Steps. The episode encourages the athlete to change course if the action steps being taking are not achieving the athlete's vision or the desires of the athlete changes. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/angel-saddler/message

Catherine likes to use a metaphor to picture what success looks like for a Scrum Master. She describes the Scrum Master work, as that of a look-out on a ship. A person who is constantly paying attention to what is happening on, and around the ship. In that position, Scrum Masters are perfectly placed to understand what is emerging, but rely on others to tackle the challenges the team faces.  Featured Retrospective Format for the Week: Control / Influence / Accept circles, helping teams accept what can't be changed, and focus on what can! When a team is playing the victim, complaining, but not taking action, this format helps them understand what they can influence. But it also helps them understand what they need to accept, and move on! The Control / Influence / Accept retrospective is similar to the Circles and Soup retrospective that we've presented on the podcast before.  In this segment, we refer to the book The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Covey. This audible book will focus on the very first habit of highly successful people according to the Author Stephen Covey in his highly regarded book “The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People. This audible book will be based on the see, do, get model. Which means the results we get in life, depends on what we do. What we do in life, depends on how we see the world around us or our paradigm which is the way we see, understand and interpret the world. We are each a product of learning and experience and no two individuals share the same knowledge base or the same set of experiences. No two people share identical paradigms. If you want to make quantum leap changes in your life work on your paradigms, which is How you see, what you see. We first make our habits and then our habits make us. This book is widely considered the best and most influential leadership and business book of the 20th century.  With high praise like that there's no way, we couldn't check this out for ourselves! After diving in, we knew this couldn't be just one episode. This book is profound and chalked full of wisdom that we are dedicating an episode to each individual habit. Hit play to join our conversation into habit number 3, the habit of personal management! You may have had this week before. It's super busy, with lots of emails, phone calls, texts, dinners, and things that keep you running around. Then at the end of the week, you realize all that work you did got you nowhere closer to your end goal.  So, how can you skip the distractions and get right to what matters?  Today we take a dive into personal management and how you can practically create a workweek that has you cutting through the noise and intentionally moving that needle forward. We talk about the 4 principles mentioned in the book, how to know what is a priority in your life, and the two practices to help manage your time more effectively.  Sometimes, like that workweek above, our lives get so inundated with information and things we need to do, we never stop to think about WHEN we need to do them. Our world is run by apps, notifications, reminders, and all sorts of things that make it seem like everything is urgent. But with the 4 quadrants tool, you'll be able to separate the ‘urgent' from the important and all the degrees in between. Listen in as we give practical tips on how you can effectively plan your week in advance, prevent emergencies and distractions, and even how you can hone in on your life's vision.  We hope this episode encourages you to pinpoint your priorities and take the steps towards your dreams. Hit play to join our conversation into habit number 1, the habit of proactiveness! “Sow a thought, and you reap an act; Sow an act, and you reap a habit; Sow a habit, and you reap a character; Sow a character, and you reap a destiny.” - Samuel Smiles Have you ever had a moment where things are not what you expected or planned, everything is building up, and then suddenly you just snap? You aren't the only one, we've all experienced a time when emotions ran high and maybe we didn't handle things as best as we could. But here's where the habit of proactiveness comes in.  Before you say “But I am proactive!” It may not be what you think. Listen in as we talk about how the habit of proactiveness starts with your own self-management and the very thoughts you think. There's a reason this habit is the first one to master because how you approach the world is crucial to how effective you are. We talk about the unique power of choice that all humans have as well as the understanding that the only thing we can really control in this world is ourselves.  Just like the quote above, it all starts with your internal dialogue and how you choose to approach the obstacles between you and your dreams. You'll learn the three practices that are guaranteed to have you living more proactively and breaking free of a helpless mentality. As well as the other gifts and tools that can help you manage your emotions and take back control of how you respond to the world around you. The best way to instill change in your life is to start with yourself, once you've mastered this there isn't anything that can keep you from your goals.
