It's the New Year's week, and if you've been listening to the podcast, you know what that means: New Year, New Batman. That's right, it's three more Elseworlds. We have Nosferatu (which is strangely more an adaptation of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari than Nosferatu), The Nail (which is more a Marvel-style What If? than most Elseworlds) and I, Joker, which does what Sean Gordon Murphy wanted to do, only better. Batman: Nosferatu Justice League: The Nail #1-3 Batman: I, Joker Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Follow the show on Twitter @BatChatComics and support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

Comic Book Pros: Interviews with Comic Book Artists and Comics Industry Professionals
Today we welcome one of the most talented and influential artists in the comic industry: Sean Gordon Murphy. He's known for his work on Batman White Knight, Hellblazer: City of Demons, his original graphic novel OFF ROAD, Punk Rock Jesus, and his Eisner award winning series "The Wake." Sean's ability to blend stunning visuals with some iconic stories has captivated readers around the world and solidified his place as a true master of the craft. And that's just the beginning. Sean's got a knack for crafting stories and artwork that hit you right in the gut and a truly unmistakable style. I'm talking about those gritty, hyper-detailed panels that make you put you right right there in the middle of the action. Whether he is flipping the script on Gotham City or showing you original worlds Sean's style is a blend of artistry and expressionism that demonstrates the very best this medium has to offer. -- Presented by: Lake Como Comic Art Festival May 17-19 2024 https://www.lccaf.com/

Ha-Cha-Cha! It's another episode of the First Issue Club. This episode Vargas, Mike, & Greg immeditaley get off track talking about the Dice-Man, and Morgan Wallen (I think the throughline being cancellable people who were controversally on SNL). Then, we're getting to comics with a quick chat about Marvel Comic's The Hood before we cover our first issues, speaking of which: Greg talks us through Sean Gordon Murphy's Zorro, and Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man. Andy goes back a week to cover the books we missed over the New Year (due to our best of episode... Check it out), & talks us through The Agent, Skeeters, Kyle Stark's Pine & Merrimac & Joshua Williamson's Duke. Lastly, Mike goes even further back into December to cover Jason Aarons Batman Off-World. If you can't get enough, join us over on our Patreon for bonus episodes, or check out our guest appearance on this weeks BLVD Brewcast where Greg & Mike talk comics and beer with our pals at Boulevard Brewery.

Benny and Sal interview Sean Gordon Murphy about his book, Batman Beyond the White Knight
Well, they can't all be winners. This time, we're covering White Knight, Sean Gordon Murphy's revisionist take on Batman and the structural nature of crime in Gotham City. In the process of carving this turkey, we explore the place of "realism" in superhero comics, along with the Freudian and Gothic trends that have been a part of Batman's story from the very beginning. The comic book speculation market went on a wild roller coaster ride this week but thankfully Tom and Russ are here to break it all down for you. Did the new Batman Beyond the White Knight by Sean Gordon Murphy reserve the top spot? Can an Amazing Spider-Man cover by Gleason join the high valued others from the past? Is there any way that Lando's first appearance in Star Wars comics will become as valuable as the hot new bounty hunters in the current runs? Has the Walking Dead truly ended or did a Skybound comic create new fan fervor? Will the indie Black finally sneak out of development and into theaters? Can Sam Alexander become the Nova of the MCU?

Hello Fellow Geeks! Welcome to Issue #3 of That's Canon, Franklin Armstrong Collective's newest podcast, focusing squarely on comic books. Hosted by Tobi & Doc from #GeektastiqCypha and Dave Koziol, co-creator of Trinity from Squared-Idea, the show was born out of the mutual appreciation they all have for comics. Combined, the boys have been reading comics for 40+ years and with all that knowledge, they plan to tackle the interesting, the abstract and the mundane. The show will help folks make a pull list, start a collection and avoid the stories no one ever needed. This week’s issue will cover Image's Chrononauts, written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Sean Gordon Murphy. The issue also features: "B.F.W": This is where our comicbook nerd hosts discuss their Best/Favourite/Worst of a specific topic. This week's B.F.W: Time Machines.“That’s Non-Canon”: In this theoretical Thunderdome, our hosts create 2 teams of 2 characters that would never normally interact with each other and rip them away from their universe to plunge them into the gladiator pit. We then discuss and determine which team would win! This week’s unlikely duos are: Hellboy (Dark Horse) & Judge Dredd (Rebellion) vs Punisher (Marvel) & Etrigan (DC) More segments will be introduced in future episodes, check the That’s Canon page on FranklinArmstrong.com for more info. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thats-canon/message

In this week's episode, the Z2 Gang gets back together after Zach experienced another convention for a second week in a row. Which his body regrets now, but the experience was totally worth it. In news though, we got the first look at Sean Gordon Murphy's secret Batman project called Batman: White Knight, DC's House of Horrors project was teased for a Halloween release, and we got our first looks at Gwenon, Spider-Gwen's next arc. Then Zach gets around to talking about all the cool experiences he had at RTX 2017, and why he plans on going back next year for sure. As always, if you want to help out the show, there are a couple ways you can do that. You can start by leaving us a rating/review where ever you listen to the show, sharing this show to a friend, or by following us on Facebook and Twitter @Z2podcast.
