In today's Daily Fix:Warner Bros. have revealed the first looks at Johnny Cage, Shao Kahn, and Kitana from the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie. Via, Entertainment Weekly, the images feature Karl Urban as Cage with his signature sunglasses, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana with her deadly bladed fans, and Martyn Ford in full Shao Kahn make-up. The movie is out October 24th of this year. In other news, GameCub fans are getting excited over new Nintendo FCC filings. The documents show what appears to be a GameCube-style controller, likely for the Switch 2. This could mean GameCube games coming to the Switch, possibly for the Nintendo Switch Online service. And finally, after just nine months, Star Wars: Hunters is shutting down. The free-to-play battle royale game received decent reviews but failed to generate much hype.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is a 1997 American martial arts fantasy film directed by John R. Leonetti in his directorial debut. Based on the Mortal Kombat video game franchise, it is the second installment in the Mortal Kombat film series and a sequel to the original 1995 film, of which Leonetti served as cinematographer. Largely an adaptation of the video game Mortal Kombat 3, Annihilation follows Liu Kang and his allies as they attempt to stop the malevolent Shao Kahn from conquering Earthrealm. In this sequel to 1995's Mortal Kombat, portals between Outworld and Earth are illegally opened by Outworld's emperor Shao Kahn, who has decided the rules of “Mortal Kombat” need not apply to him. This leaves the world's mightiest fighters only six days to vanquish this new threat and close the portals or lose Earthrealm to the powers of evil.  They return to Outworld to fight for humanity's fate.

Keeping on brand with our Mortal Kombat theme, it's time to jump two years forward, from the original! There are many people that think this movie was a big step backwards from the original. For me personally, it holds a weird special place in my heart, though I know that it wasn't the greatest movie, or the better sequel. But it introduces many new characters, that we all loved from the video games, and the ones that we had hoped would be in the original! We are of course talking about Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. This is a bad movie review Wednesday. Mortal Kombat is an ancient tournament where the Earth Realm warriors battle against the forces of Outworld. Liu Kang and a few chosen fighters fought and defeated the powerful sorcerer Shang Tsung, their victory would preserve the peace on Earth for one more generation. Taking place now where the first movie left off, the Earth realm warriors live a short period of peace when evil forces from another dimension come to invade and wreak havoc on Earth. They are guided by the forces of the Outworld leader, Shao Kahn, and his generals such as Motaro, Rain, Ermac, Sheeva, and Sindel. Now Liu Kang, Raiden, Jax, Sonya, and Kitana must defeat Shao Kahn in six days before the Earth realm merges with the Outworld.
