Slam the Gavel welcomes The Honorable Mary Elizabeth Bullock to the podcast. Judge Bullock is also the author of "Judging Me." She has written an exciting memoir that describes a very hard-won life of achievement. Even facing extreme and overwhelming adversity, Judge Bullock, who not only is blind and has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Systemic Lupus, made a name for herself as an experienced trial litigator, honored business law professor and Federal Civil Rights Judge. We had a very in-depth conversation regarding fraud upon the court and the corruption of foster care. The US is 3rd on the list of CHILD MORBIDITY in the world. Judge Mary talked about that these children will one day be our leaders. Fraud upon the court is a huge issue. The person trying to get total control of the child will LIE because they will get more money from the better parent. These are people that are WILLING to LIE. Judge Mary spoke of a case regarding lies. Judge Mary talked about how judges make decisions based on the evidence before them. If an Atty lied, the judge has to question this and differentiate the lies from the truth. There is no statute of limitations on Fraud Upon The Court. Once a person sees it, it must be pointed out. A Certified trauma Victim Witness Advocate not only in child abuse but in marriages as well, Judge Bullock states that people need to know when they have been manipulated. "Without the true facts, you will lose," Judge Mary states. Judge Mary Bullock explained how she herself wrote a decision and was told to change her decision after major surgery. She refused to go down to the federal building seven hours after surgery which she refused to do, "'No' is a complete sentence." In this conversation, Maria also shares her perspective as a person living with Systemic Lupus, and talks about how Chair Yoga benefits those with chronic illness. You'll hear about Maria's journey with auto-immune disease, getting diagnosed with Systemic Lupus, and dealing with symptoms like joint pain, serious fatigue, and kidney failure. Now Maria shares Chair Yoga with a variety of students, including elders and people with Multiple Sclerosis. Chair Yoga Benefits We Discuss: how the chair brought in a whole new world of possibilities for an active, but supportive movement practice how chair yoga classes provide important social engagement opportunities for students experiencing the isolation of chronic illness or living in nursing homes (called "care homes" in the UK where Maria lives) using chair yoga class as an opportunity to work on functional daily life movements that help people maintain independence as they age or cope with a chronic illness I also asked Maria about her go-to tips for working with fatigue (hint: it's not coffee!). Your immune system is your body's main defense against germs and illnesses. When you have lupus, you're more prone to infections because your immune system works differently than most people's. It becomes overactive and attacks your body itself. Our guest on today's show is another repeat guest, Amber Blackburn. Amber is a Registered Nurse turned blogger and patient advocate for those with chronic illnesses. She deals with Hemiplegic Migraines and Lupus and unfortunately she caught COVID at the very start of the Pandemic. She was forced to leave the workforce after ten years as a nurse; this gave her the patient medical experience and perspective. Being diagnosed and living with a chronic illness has given her the experience of everyday living so she understands both sides of the coin. Amber lives with Systemic Lupus, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Interstitial Cystitis, IBS, Anxiety, Depression and Adrenal Insufficiency secondary to long term steroid use. Since being forced to leave the traditional workforce due to her illnesses, she has become a strong patient advocate and blogger with her blog being “The World Sees Normal.” Amber works with the Chronic Disease Coalition. Today, we talk about healing, but not just in the traditional way. My guest healed herself from Lupus and shares how that journey in the course of becoming a mother, changed her whole life. Jamie Lynn Guyden, MD is a medical doctor who finally awakened after a thirty-year slumber. She is a New Jersey native whose medical career began in Houston, TX immersed in the conventional medical model. For 10+ years she believed and taught the 'you are broken and need to fixed biochemically' model of medicine. Her career took a drastic turn in 2010 as her personal health journey compelled her to reevaluate her professional interests and ultimately re-write her story. Her then 18-year struggle with Systemic Lupus had become overwhelming and unacceptable. She began to broaden her scope of understanding about her body, seeking out holistic and alternative care that would lead to life-altering physical changes to her body, heart and mind. Dr. Guyden no longer has a relationship with Lupus, medication, disease or mainstream medical intervention as she no longer resonates at that frequency. She has since made it her life's passion to share what she has learned about healing and wellness with anyone who will listen. She now knows that our physical bodies are perfect, whole miracles that possess innate wisdom and intelligence for self-healing and repair. Dr. Guyden resides in Austin, Texas with her husband, Alexander and daughters, Aria and Jayla. She leads an active lifestyle and enjoys daily meditation as well as connecting with people, animals and nature. She is a wayshower for healing and living in the now, finding great personal fulfillment and joy as a co-creator of her reality. See all the Healthcast's at https://www.biobalancehealth.com/healthcast-blog/ Autoimmune disease is one of the top 10 causes of death for women. The rate of growth of this group of diseases in women over the last 19 years is rapid. I have come to realize since the first 5 years of practicing Bioidentical hormone pellet replacement with testosterone for women that the treatment we offer at BioBalance Health® both helps treat and prevent these devastating autoimmune diseases! If you don't know what this category of disease includes, it has many permutations, but the most common autoimmune diseases include Systemic Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, Scleroderma, MS, and Collagen Vascular diseases to name a few. When I first began offering testosterone pellets to women, I noticed that those women who had autoimmune diseases improved, decreased their medication, or went into remission! It was noticing this effect of Testosterone pellet replacement that caused me to delve into the research articles on Testosterone ‘s effect on autoimmune diseases. This was around 2005 and doctors and researchers had not begun to consider the advantage of testosterone for women at that time or realize how it affects so many diseases that women are at risk for. When I researched this association between autoimmune diseases and testosterone, I found a lot of medical research that confirmed my observations that testosterone is a key player in the treatment of autoimmune diseases! What are autoimmune diseases? Autoimmune disease is simply a general label for 100 or more conditions that are caused by a confused immune system that attacks your own cells, instead of attacking bacteria and viruses. It is like “friendly fire” from your immune system. In these diseases your immune response is “confused” and aims at self instead of viruses, bacteria and cancer cells. Autoimmune conditions are increasing in number and currently the only treatments are called “biologics” which is a misnomer for “shutting down your immune system” which leaves patients at risk for cancer, deadly bacterial and viral infections. These biologics decrease the body's attack toward its own cells and tissues which makes the symptoms of autoimmune diseases better but at the same time it leaves your body defenseless against dangerous infections and cancer, which require a strong immune response to prevent disease, and kill the invading organisms. I have many patients with autoimmune diseases now on Bioidentical testosterone pellets who have regained the health of their immune system so it can redirect the attack toward dangerous diseases and away from their own tissues. Here is an example of one of my patients who took Biologics for years before she started taking testosterone pellets, which cured all her symptoms of low T, and improved, or modulated the action of her own immune system, but it was too late. Story: My favorite example of autoimmune diseases and the power of testosterone pellets is exemplified by one of my favorite patients. This lovely woman was under 40 when I first met her, and she had young children and a lovely husband. Sadly, she had gotten an aggressive autoimmune disease called Lupus after a viral infection. Her body over-reacted to the virus and attacked her vision. When she came to see me, she considered me her last resort to help her halt the progression of this disease, and to retain some of her sight. She was already on biologics for some time, and she received monthly steroid injections in her eyes. In spite of this she had lost the vision in one eye and was going blind in the other as well. She had read /heard some of my blogs and information about how testosterone “modulates” the immune system and can help control or decrease the damage done by autoimmune disease. When I first saw her, she was well versed in the benefits of Testosterone therapy in autoimmune disease treatment, and she knew that T stimulates the production of T killer and helper cells in those with poor immune systems and normalizes over-reactive immune systems. Both of which improve the lot of patients suffering from Autoimmune diseases. I told her I had never treated the rare form of Lupus that she had with T pellets yet, but she had other symptoms of low T and had had a Total Hysterectomy and BSO and had no Testosterone blood level. She wanted to try to both get her body back, her sex life with her husband back and to try to slow down the aggressiveness of her lupus blindness, so we began T pellets. She never had to get another eye injection after her first testosterone pellets, and her condition improved drastically. She lost the 30 lbs that she had gained after her total hysterectomy, and she got her sex life with her husband back! Her Ophthalmologist thought it was his steroid shots that did the work and would not be dissuaded from his victory speech…but she knew what the successful treatment was! It was due to her testosterone! Her Lupus halted its progression after her first treatment, and she could still see out of one eye! Sadly, she does not have a happy ending. The biologics for lupus that she had taken before coming to me as well as during her treatment with T pellets had done their damage and she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that took over her health. She came to talk to me to ask me if she could continue to get T pellets while she was treated for cancer because it had brought her life back and she wanted a quality life to the end of her life. We continued treatment…It appears that the cancer was beginning before we started T Pellets and was too far advanced to treated effectively with radiation or other methods. The disease that she got secondary to her suppressed immune system from the Biologics too her life. The only joy I can glean from her treatment was the joy she had for several years of being able to see, as well as maintaining her relationship with her husband. Sometimes the traditional treatments we doctors offer are more dangerous than the disease itself. After treating this patient, I was more motivated to help more women with their autoimmune diseases by prescribing testosterone pellets. Just to be clear, I do not change a patient's treatment from her Rheumatologist, I add to it to make it work better against the autoimmune disease, hoping that improvement will allow my patient to lower the dose or get off the “Biologics” eventually. So far I have successfully treated Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, and MS. All my patients who were already treated by their Rheumatologists, stopped the progression of their otherwise progressive autoimmune disease and improved the quality of their lives. Testosterone studies about autoimmune disease are available in the Rheumatology literature, but rheumatologist don't know how to prescribe testosterone, and they are not in the Gynecology journals for doctors who do give women testosterone replacement. Testosterone for women with autoimmune diseases is a treatment without a medical specialty! Testosterone pellets give women the protective testosterone levels they had in their youth and by adding a very low dose of estradiol they feel “normal” again. Sadly, the advice of most Rheumatologists is to avoid all “hormones”. Their advice is only half right. Patients who have autoimmune diseases should limit the use of estradiol (estrogens) and maximize the use of testosterone. Estrogen given alone in any form, especially oral estrogen can cause a worsening of autoimmune symptoms, so we only use non-oral E2 (pellets) and we use higher than average doses of testosterone in our pellets and our treatment plan works! We only use the safest testosterone and estradiol delivery system, which is testosterone pellets plus estradiol pellets for women. This treatment plan has worked nicely. For over a decade with my patients. I wish that more women with autoimmune diseases would come for treatment to both help their disease symptoms and to get their quality of life back!

Seems like a good day to focus on hope and healing. Allow me to introduce Lorry Salluzzi who is a stress management therapist, Lupus survivor, psychic medium, Reiki master, healer and teacher. She was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in 1988 when her doctor could not be sure she would live through the night. Medications saved her, but she was not getting any better. Through the practice of Reiki and Guided Imagery Meditation, she achieved full remission 2 years later and has had no evidence of the disease since 1990. Her doctor still sends her patients as do many other practitioners in the allopathic and holistic fields. She has had success with many chronic health challenges such as cancer, depression, pain, migraine, Lupus, chronic fatigue, Epstein-Barr, etc. Lorry believes that Reiki and Meditation will change your life in a positive way by managing stress before a disease can occur. And the amazing thing is Reiki is something you can do for yourself whenever you need a little love!I think it's important to mention that Lorry's story is not meant to imply that if you are suffering from some illness that it's your fault, that you haven't done enough. Some things are just simply out of your control. Her story and her work is meant to empower you to take positive steps for your own wellbeing if that's something that resonates with you. Tune in to hear Lorry's wild journey into Reiki and be inspired into hope for whatever it is you're needing to call into your life. Here's a direct link to Lorry's offerings on her Patreon page.Today's show was engineered by Nick Panken of Freedom Highway on Radio Kingston. Our show music is from Shana Falana !!! and we heard "Everyone's Gonna Be Okay" by Shana as well as "Devi Ma" by Mother Medicine.Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.orgLeave me a voicemail with your thoughts or a few words about who inspires you! Shannon Pickering is a warrior, a bright light in the world, a wise woman, and gifted coach in numerous areas. Laura and Shannon met when they were both in DC for a week, earning their Gallup Strengths Coaching Certifications several years ago. Since then, Shannon’s life has been a bit of a roller coaster ride, and the two women dive deeply into what happened, how it happened, and how we all might learn something from Shannon’s story and not have to experience the same things. Shannon began her professional life as a Psychologist, which was great in some ways and destructive in others. Feeling lost and longing for something she couldn’t quite define, she shifted into corporate life, ending up in sales. Each of these roles and experiences fed some things, filled some needs, and cut off others. “My mind, body, and spirit just got sicker and sicker, and yet I continued to ignore the signs,” she explains. “Even after I was diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases, I ignored it and denied it.” Until one day, Shannon was leading a full-day workshop and some of the participants expressed concern as they thought she looked unwell. She denied it, eventually collapsed, and was transported to the Emergency Department in an ambulance! “I wish I’d listened sooner,” she said. “I very nearly died before I was willing to listen…” Laura explains the idea that our bodies, minds, and spirits are always whispering to us, guiding us, expressing needs and concerns… and if we don’t tune in, don’t listen, don’t heed what we are hearing, we will eventually get walloped with the proverbial 2x4 upside the head! What Shannon experienced is not uncommon. Our inner talents and unique gifts long to be expressed in the world, allowing us to add value and be of service. When we don’t find healthy outlets in which to contribute, we shut ourselves down and a destructive cycle begins… which eventually plays out in very real mental, physical, and spiritual illness. Gallup training was the catalytic experience for Shannon; she finally found a place where her passion and talent collided: She could step into her giftedness, serve at a high level, and move forward with greater clarity about her life and work. And then she experienced some very real and significant resistance: Systemic Lupus – attacking her entire body, including her DNA! At 43 years old, she received what is commonly a death sentence, but she was determined to fight. Learning everything she could about how to heal and nurture her body, her being… she re-emerged and began building a thriving coaching practice. Only to be walloped again with a cancer diagnosis – Stage 3! Laura notes that it’s consistent with doing powerful work in the world; the closer we get to expressing that thing we are called to bring forward, the more resistance we experience. Its explained in Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art. The conversation shifts somewhat to more depth into the natural hard-wired strengths both women work to uncover, define, and bring to life in their clients. Shannon expresses the idea that the thing we are criticized the most for, is likely the thing we are meant to share with the world. To hear their deeper insights and encouragement for how you can show up more fully and authentically in your life, listen in and then check out these links: Shannon on Facebook and Instagram @AutoimmuneFoodie Shannon’s Website Online health and wellbeing classes for women The War of Art The Freak Factor Laura’s Strengths Coaching Shannon’s Bio My life has truly been a journey. I am hard-wired for achievement and for many years I worshiped at that alter. I reached every goal I set my sights on attaining, achieving great success in both the clinical and corporate worlds. On the clinical side, I have been a practicing psychologist and career counselor, and I taught psychology at a university. While this was a fulfilling career in many ways, it wasn’t satisfying enough in terms of achievement. So, I jumped into corporate life and for the next 15 years, I held roles in sales, national training, and management for a Global Fortune 500 company. While my inner Achiever was being fed, my inner Empath was suffering. And what no one knew was that I had been suffering with very serious illness for 30 years. You see, by the time I was 44, I had been diagnosed with 7 autoimmune diseases including systemic lupus. I had endured many surgeries, hospitalizations, and procedures, and I had too many doctors and prescriptions to count. My defining characteristic is perseverance: My motto has always been "obstacles fear me." I prided myself on pushing through any adversity. So, I just kept pushing my way through illness after illness, living in fear of anyone finding out that I had a weakness in the form of health issues. What I discovered the hard way is that if you don’t take care of your mind and body and soul, your body will shut you down for maintenance. And by 2014, my body was trying to shut me down permanently. Lupus was attacking my GI tract, my heart and lungs, even my DNA (which is terrifying because you can’t get a DNA transplant). I was completely disabled, I had to retire from corporate life, and I was convinced I would die soon. I was told I needed to start taking chemo and steroids for the rest of life and I needed to accept the relentless progression that lupus was going to make through my body. And do you know what happened next? I said, “To heck with that!” If there was a way out of the inevitable, I was going to find it. So started the next chapter of my life: I spent the next 5 years studying mind-body-spirit wellness and I successfully clawed my life back from the abyss. After 4 years of healing, I was ready to begin a new career. Which is when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. And the rug was once again yanked out from under me. But I accepted the challenge and I am happy to say that as of the end of 2019, I am free of both cancer and autoimmune disease. I don’t even have autoimmune antibodies, which is truly a miracle. And what I treasure today is very different than what I treasured in the past. I am truly grateful for my journey. Facing death has allowed me to truly blossom and release my gifts to the world. During my illness, I obtained several life and health coaching certifications and I am now in my third and final career as a Performance & Wellbeing Coach, the magical career where my strengths and passion collide. My mission is to help people reach greater levels of performance and wellness in their critical work and life roles through improved self-regulation, interdependent communication, and radical heath restoration. My passions include helping people unleash their authenticity, transform suffering into purpose, and achieve true mind-body-spirit wellness so they can release their unique God-given genius into the world. My journey has taught me that having mental, physical, or spiritual illness will prevent you from becoming who you were created to be. I have learned there is something of a blindness in our society to the rich variety of human talents. I meet people every day who believe they have no special abilities or genius talents. Well, I am here to tell you, definitively, that you are unique among all people who have ever lived or ever will live. You have genius talents that are both easy to use and obvious to see if you only know where to look. You are, indeed, a very special snowflake. My passion and purpose is to help people achieve holistic wellness so they are free to pursue their passion and their purpose - because the world craves each of our unique contributions.
Diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases including Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, Systemic Lupus, Scleroderma, Sjogrens, Arthritis and more left me with about 5 to 10 years left to live. However, in February 2012, I cried out a prayer that changed my life. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rubykay/support

From living a nightmare, to building a dream. Graphic Novelist J.C.S. may only be 27 years old but she has come a long way. Abused as a child, and seemingly lost as a teen, she has turned her scraps into diamonds. So far, she has written six novels, has published five of those novels, and as also finished a trilogy known as Anguished Immortals. She will tell you, her goal was this: to publish and take care of her family. Her first attempt to write a novel came at the age of 15, and in between ten years, she tried and failed. Growing up in Denver, Colorado, it was realized (and said) countless times that opportunity in the workforce was greater and more stable than most states, especially for a woman. But having Systemic Lupus and two children only ten and a half months apart changed everything. Early 2012, inspiration came as J.C.S. decided to write her first romance novel. Even though it was a completed work, she saw that it wasn't yielding light on her talent. After doing a little research on the Archangel of Death and the Greek Goddess of War, Enyo, the makings of an Epic Fantasy trilogy had just begun. Taking her work to Authonomy and trying out the first two books, J.C.S. realized that sticking with something she loved, Epic Fantasy, did her better than trying to fit in. In 2013 J.C.S. wrote and published the first book to Bleeding Stars and Paper Hearts: Adrianna is Mine, following the same previewing and publishing path of her previous work. The audience from Authonomy helped her decide on publishing when not only had her book gone from #599 to #31 in a week, it stayed at #7 for three weeks and #1 for two.
