It's another chapter in The Dialogue Series - A chill ‘n chat with authors, fellow podcasters, musicians, and more. Our guest is Songfacts founder and owner Carl Wiser. If you love classic rock trivia and love finding out the stories behind your favorite classic rock songs and bands, you probably know about the website Songfacts.com. Songfacts is a music-oriented website that gives you the stories behind songs and lyrics, how and when they were recorded, and so much more. You can search by category like songs about cars, songs inspired by movies, songs inspired by the works of Shakespeare. The list goes on and on. It also has a featured quiz, today's top 10 facts, artists, lyrics, and categories, and a This Day In Music calendar.Songfacts also features exclusive articles and interviews. The journalists who work for the site have interviewed thousands of artists and songwriters to get the facts behind the songs, including Greg Prato who has been on the Booked On Rock podcast many times. The site was launched in 1999 by Wiser, a Connecticut rock DJ who created the list as a database to prepare for his radio show before making it a website for all of us classic rock fanatics to visit. It's one of my original favorite music info sites and I'm not alone. In 2002 it was chosen as a "Yahoo! Pick". The August 2004 issue of Men's Journal listed Songfacts as one of the "100 Best Websites for Guys". USA Weekend has praised it as "a virtual Behind the Music". I reached out to Carl to tell us more about the website, some of his favorite stories he's found for the site, his favorite books on rock, and ones he would love to be written but haven't yet. So let's get down to the facts and talk Songfacts with Carl Wiser!Visit Songfacts.comListen to the Songfacts podcastBookedOnRock.com The Booked On Rock YouTube Channel Follow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOKINSTAGRAMTIKTOKX Find Your Nearest Independent Bookstore Contact The Booked On Rock Podcast: thebookedonrockpodcast@gmail.com The Booked On Rock Music: “Whoosh” by Crowander / “Last Train North” & “No Mercy” by TrackTribeBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/booked-on-rock-with-eric-senich--4901091/support.

It includes her Grandparents' WWII love letters, her grandfather's battle with Alzheimer's and a deeper look into the familial relationship including excerpts of a life entangled in The Eagles success. During their three-day nursing home interview, what began for Lucy as finding out more about her grandparent's WWII love letters, becomes a much deeper journey of hard-to-ask questions and even harder-to-believe answers than Lucy could've ever imagined. It is a journey into her grandmother's offbeat world and her ancestors' tumultuous psyches, to the very vortex of her own self-discovery. Walsh is best known for her work as an actress in film and TV series' such as "Criminal Minds", "No Strings Attached", "Mother's Day", "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and more! Do you like piña coladas, Slackers? It's time for the sweet sounds of soft rock, also known as Yacht Rock.Starting in the 1970s, groups like Seals & Crofts, Captain & Tennille, and even Chicago, were creating music that was mellow, smooth - even sensual - but was also filled with meloncholy and heartache. While never my favorite "genre" there are some real gems from this time period, with strong musicianship and melodies throughout. Although the qualifiers may be arbitrary - Hall & Oates are yacht rock, but Fleetwood Mac are not(?) - it cannot be denied that many slower jams, filled with synths and acoustic guitars, were prevalent on the radio. Many of these artists were as rooted in R&B as they were in folk and rock & roll. Where exactly is the line between "blue eyed soul" and "yacht rock"?And how did Jimmy Buffet become the king of the entire sub-genre?!Let me know - are you a yacht rocker?

I must admit. Seeing Jackson Browne with the Eagles during the Grammy Awards totally sparked a ray of hope in my heart. The band could still go on. Then Don Henley made it official over the weekend. Don Henley on the BBC Radio 2 while promoting his July 3rd show in London's Hyde Park, where he will open for Carole King. Don Henley says the Eagles' tribute to Glenn Frey at the Grammy Awards was most likely their last performance. "It was very difficult and very emotional. We actually almost didn't do it and I thought it went pretty well. I think that was the final farewell. I don't think you'll see us performing again. I think that was probably it." The Eagles were joined for their Grammy Awards performance of "Take It Easy" by Jackson Browne, who co-wrote the song with Frey.Henley will tour this summer, as will Joe Walsh, on a co-headlining bill with Bad Company.
The always wonderful mixture of reviews, previews, tributes, and recommendations this time includes looks at The Eagles visit to Kansas City, the 2022 Rock Hall ceremony, the passing of Christine McVie, a Quincy Jones tribute, David Bromberg doc, and more. Enjoy!

Michael Tau had spent years obsessed by the extremes of musical expression. “Extreme Music: Silence to Noise and Everything In Between” is the culmination of decades of research into the sounds (and silences) that comprise the outer limits and conceptual expressions that stretch the definition of music. Tau defines and categorizes these recorded sounds into sections that allow fans and newcomers to explore the fascinating world of musicians who defy convention. He explores a wide range of extremes including volume, speed, and vulgarity to packaging, recording methods, unplayable media, outdated technologies, and digital pioneers. He asks and answers the questions: Are all sounds music? Is silence music? Does a plate of rotting food once cataloged, packaged and sold by a distributor qualify as music?“Extreme Music” includes over 100 interviews with makers and musicians as Tau uses his background in psychiatry to help readers understand what motivates people to create and listen to non-mainstream music. As a fan of multiple avant-garde musical genres, Tau uncovers the pleasures (and sometimes pain and frustration) found at the outré fringes of music.“Extreme Music” is the ideal guide for curious seekers, die-hard fans, and cultural investigators. Michael Tau was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. As a teenager, he was introduced to bizarre and adventurous music via the after-hours CBC radio program, Brave New Waves, which he recorded onto cassette to listen to the next day. In university, he attended noise shows in lofts in Montreal's quasi-industrial districts, to the detriment of his hearing. He has since written for numerous underground music publications and has authored several music zines. When he isn't listening to the Merzbow boxset, he works as a physician.Purchase a copy of “Extreme Music: From Silence to Noise and Everything In Between” through Feral House: https://feralhouse.com/extreme-music/Listen to a playlist of some the music discussed in this episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0pTeMurVDluqaY0txFEPF0?si=de95b551eb3d4ebbMusic Not Available Through Spotify Playlist:Jem Finer's “Longplayer”: https://longplayer.org/ or www.trinitybuoywharf.com/whats-on/longplayer8-Bit Tribute to Miles Davis' ‘Kind Of Blue' called ‘Kind Of Bloop' by Andy Baio: https://kindofbloop.comVulfpeck's ‘Sleepify' album: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTE2UdbmDw4Hantasi ‘Vacant Places': www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qut4OjmBS0 Visit Michael Tau's website: https://anomalyindex.com/The Booked On Rock Website: https://www.bookedonrock.comFollow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/bookedonrockpodcastTWITTER: https://twitter.com/bookedonrockINSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/bookedonrockpodcastSupport Your Local Bookstore! Hotel California.
Jesse and Linda put on their masks, brought their proof of vaccination and went to Hotel Califonia. It wasn't Wasted Time. In fact they were living life in the fast lane while taking it easy.

Lot's of major artists such as Luke Combs, Tim McGraw, Chris Stapelton, Guns N Roses, The Eagles, Kanye West, Nickelback ad others had their names publically released by several publications last week showing the amount of money each applied for and received as a part of the government PPP program. The amounts ranged from $150,000 all the way up to 6 million. These bands are businesses and have employees to pay, but some of these artists could've paid their employees out of their pockets and still been extremely wealthy, but chose to take free money from the government. In this episode, I give my opinion on the situation and take a hard look at how the events of the last 4 months have taken their toll on the music industry ad the business behind it.
