In this episode of the Prosperous Empath®, I'm sitting down with financial advisor and UNBOUNDED Mastermind Alum, Cris Caruso to talk about a phenomenon that many people have experienced in recent years: lifestyle creep. Cris has been in the financial services industry since 2004 and a financial advisor since 2008. Beyond that, she has pursued additional education in understanding how our behaviors shape financial outcomes by earning the Behavioral Financial Advisor designation from Think2Perform. She also earned the Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor credential prior to 2015 as a way to support her LGBTQIA+bclients and continues to use this knowledge to work with unmarried couples and non-traditional families. You'll appreciate her unique experience throughout today's episode as she speaks on lifestyle creep, or lifestyle inflation, which is overspending on things that you don't actually need as your income increases. When you're early in your career, your spending habits focus on must-haves like housing and groceries. But as your income increases, it's easy to lose track of what is a necessity and what are simply too many luxuries, and to just keep buying more. Cris and I discuss both values-based and practical strategies on how to identify the areas of your life you should spend generously on and where to be more mindful to reach your long-term goals. How do you live in alignment with your money, especially as an entrepreneur and an empath? You'll get an answer to this question as you listen to our thought provoking conversation on purposeful spending, the importance of allowing yourself to have fun & fabulous experiences, and more. Topics: Understanding lifestyle creep and how to identify and avoid meaningless overspending The importance of spending generously on things that truly satisfy you and how to identify what they are Recognizing how perfectionism, scarcity mindset, and societal expectations are contributing to your relationship with money Finding the right balance between lifestyle creep and mindfully increasing your spending as your income grows Navigating financial planning as an entrepreneur with a fluctuating income that often grows quicker than expected How to start investing in a way that is aligned with your values and vision Episode Resources: The Millionaire Next Door The Next Millionaire Next Door We Should All Be Millionaires BottomLine Join us on April 15th at 12pm ET for our monthly Non-Networking Power Hour for Empath Entrepreneurs with our UNBOUNDED Mastermind Community for deep connections and meaningful support. You know as well as I do that leads are worth NOTHING if you can't convert! They cost money and you get nothing back. But Tristan Ahumada is an expert at connecting and conversion and in this episode, and he's here to take me through the steps he uses to not just convert, but convert RELIABLY from Facebook and Google pay-per-click ads. Most of us have a split of business where up to 80% of our business comes from repeats and referrals, but for Tristan, it's more like around 35%! His remaining business comes from converted online leads, and he does it WITHOUT buying leads from Realtor.com or Zillow. I asked him to lay out exactly how he does it, and the first thing we discussed was connecting with people and understanding personalities. If you haven't taken a DISC course, do it now! Understanding your leads' personalities is key to conversion, and Tristan and I look at a couple examples of how (and why) it works. Once we've got that down, it's time to talk specifics, and Tristan walks me through exactly what he does when a lead comes in. He covers everything, from how long it takes to call that lead, to how long it takes to follow up, and what to say. We even talk about how to deal when you're having an off day!Next, Tristan explains why he went cold turkey and stopped using both Realtor.com and Zillow for leads. When he decided to leave both sites, 66% of his business came from the two of them, and he had to make it up from somewhere! He talks me through where he made that business up.We finish off by talking about how to build trust with a client, once you've made that initial connection. We talk about the best way to communicate (Text? Facebook Messenger? E-mail?) and how you know when someone really trusts you. “As many as 1 in every 5 teens experience depression at some point during adolescence, but they often go undiagnosed and untreated.” My own son was diagnosed with depression at the age of 11, but he had been suffering for probably a year before that diagnosis. As a parent, I had an inkling but wasn't sure and really didn't know at what point to seek help and certainly didn't know what to expect when finally making that appointment. Today I am speaking with pediatrician Dr. Hector De Leon about depression in children and adolescents. We are chatting about what depression is, its symptoms, how it's diagnosed and what treatment looks like. From stigma to how to talk to your kids about it, Dr. De Leon covers everything you need to know to identify depression and get your child the help he needs.Topics• Understanding depression (4:50)• How depression is different in children (8:66)• Symptoms of depression (10:46)• Depression in older children vs. younger children (12:35)• How depression progresses (13:45)• Boys and depression (17:50)• How and When to seek a diagnosis (21:50)• How depression is diagnosed (24:06)• Related Conditions (25:38)• How to talk to your kids (27:00)• Treatment options (29:20)• Reoccurrence (34:44)• Resources (38:09)Show Notes and Links• Head over to https://findyourwords.org (https://findyourwords.org) to check out Kaiser Permanente's site on depression including a self-assessment tool• The CDC has several pages dedicated to depression check out the childhood depression page at https://www.cdc.gov/childrensmentalhealth/depression.html (https://www.cdc.gov/childrensmentalhealth/depression.html)• The American Academy of pediatrics also has several pages on depression that can be accessed at https://www.aap.org/ (https://www.aap.org/) including this article by Nerrisa S. I'm Andrew, and I'm Scott this production is meant to provide. You the listener meaningful support defined great careers faster. Whether you're working or not today job seekers radio we cover some really sensitive and important topics including this idea of career choices job satisfaction. And the decisions that we make based on our circumstances. I love the idea of how do I get up and out of the circumstances? And I generally start this conversation thinking about the book the power of now by Eckhart Tolle. I have no idea if I'm pronouncing his name correctly. The idea that what's happening today is only today circumstances. It is not the definition of life or me or whatever. And so as I approach what's happening today. If I think about the only moment that truly matters his now and the decisions that I make. Now because that's the only thing I can truly deal with. He he talks about the fact that you can't do anything about the past because it's passed. You can't really do anything about the future. All you can do is what you can do right now today the power of now, and as a result as you think about the circumstances that are happening. They don't define you. It's just what's happening. I can take a dispassionate view of these circumstances and start to look at the decisions that I am making right now extrapolate where they may lead and decide is that what I want that's a much healthier view than. Oh, well, I'm waiting for my prince to come so to speak, right? Reminds me of quote in Kung Fu panda by Master Oogway who said yesterday, it's history. Tomorrow's a mystery today. It's a gift. Yeah. So think of it that way what we're talking about. Here really is how to approach this idea of how do. We change the career where in how do we make a good choice. A good decision for us at this time. Right. And how do we generate satisfaction in the job? We had a conversation with someone recently who really didn't know what he wanted to do. And he grew up in he's grown up. I totally empathize with that point of view. I've had several careers in my life. There are a whole bunch of decisions that I've made and they've sent me down different paths all of them in the long view of you know, looking back over my life. I realized how one has led to the other. And then that's helpful even though they've been very different. It's only in that moment of right now. And here he was trying to get an answer for us. Well, what should I do? And we kept coming back to what you want to do. It's a decision. We have to make individually nobody else can make it for us. So the sooner we can get into that moment of Lau. Why do I want to do that the sooner were actually going to make the progress? We want. See you as a listener maybe in a situation where hey, I'm just using my skills to pay the bills what you're in. Now. Maybe isn't what you want. But that's by choice. Everything is choice. We talk about that. I would suggest if you're new to our podcast that you subscribe. And maybe go back and listen to some of the prior episodes. So you can get a feel for what we're talking about. Everybody has a choice if you're staying in a place that isn't meeting your needs, professionally fulfilling, whatever that's before we started recording yo...
