85 years before American President Donald Trump gave unelected social media mogul Elon Musk unprecedented power with DOGE, Australian Prime Minister Robert Menzies gave unelected newspaper mogul Keith Murdoch unprecedented power as DGI - that is: Director-General of Information. But Rupert's dad would overstep almost immediately and be widely criticised as an aspiring fascist dictator along the lines of Adolf Hitler – the very enemy he was supposed to be fighting. For a free trial that will give you access to ad-free, early and bonus episodes:Patreon: patreon.com/forgottenaustraliaApple: apple.co/forgottenaustraliaMy books: They'll Never Hold Me:https://www.booktopia.com.au/they-ll-never-hold-me-michael-adams/book/9781923046474.htmlThe Murder Squad:https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-murder-squad-michael-adams/book/9781923046504.htmlHanging Ned Kelly:https://www.booktopia.com.au/hanging-ned-kelly-michael-adams/book/9781922992185.htmlAustralia's Sweetheart:https://www.booktopia.com.au/australia-s-sweetheart-michael-adams/book/9780733640292.htmlEmail: forgottenaustraliapodcast@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN FOR THIS WEEK'S ASTRO NEWS YOU CAN USE PODCAST! This podcast discusses the intensity of astrological events leading up to the third Mars/Pluto opposition April 26 & the Taurus New Moon April 27!We begin by looking back, as that's how we learn best how certain astrological aspects in the sky have manifested within the collective. It's then we can filter this macrocosm of information down into the microcosm of meaning in our own personal lives. So, last week the Sun entered earthy, dependable, stubborn & change resistant Taurus, followed by an empathic Mars/Neptune trine on April 19. This shift became part of American support for the Supreme Court's early morning April 19 ruling that the U.S. must return mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia from the hellhole prison in El Salvador. It also awakened in us the knowledge that the government's denial of the constitutional right to due process by paying the El Salvadoran dictator $15M to house such prisoners is coming out of taxpayer money.By April 20's third quarter crisis in consciousness monthly lunar waning fixed square of the Aquarius Moon to the Taurus Sun—which included the Moon's opposition to Mars & conjunction to Pluto, along with the Sun's square to Mars—we knew this was a set up for something potentially alarming to happen. And so it did, as hours later as the Moon perfected its conjunction to Pluto, the lord of the underworld, Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 during the early hours of April 21. This event, occurring two days before the Taurus Sun's exact square to Pluto, & five days before the third Mars/Pluto opposition on April 26, echoed those of the recent past. This podcast discusses the details of the intense events which took place around the first Mars/Pluto opposition on November 3, 2024, the second on January 3, 2025. And what's been leading up now to this third Mars/Pluto opposition as part of this series of intense, potentially violent aspects in the sky. Meanwhile, as it wanes, we discuss the lasting effects of the Aries New Moon solar eclipse monthly lunar cycle, begun on March 29, at the same time as the heliacal rising of Venus during its retrograde cycle. And how these astro-events portended the fallibility of political leaders—with a specific look the dropping poll numbers of American President Donald Trump, & the misfortunes of unelected billionaire Elon Musk since he strayed from steering the helm of his Tesla company's ship to feed a multitude of life-saving U.S. Governmentally-funded programs "into the woodchipper."We look as well at the recent Venus/Saturn & Saturn/North Node conjunctions in the sky & whether or not we collectively take up the mission of reviewing our true values & making a future commitment to them. For example, do we value the rule of law in a democracy—or not? Do we value foundational facts & commitment in our relationships—or not? These kind of intense questions continue through the exact Mars/Pluto conjunction on April 26, and the Taurus New Moon which forms a frictionally tense T-square to the Mars/Pluto opposition April 27. This sets the tone for the month ahead as we attempt to figure out where we've been disempowered and where we may need to fight for future empowerment. We look at all of this through the lens of the U.S. Sibly birth chart from July 4, 1776--especially since April 19 was the 250th anniversary of the first shots fired in Concord & Lexington, MA, that began the U.S. Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. And America's current Pluto return as a time when freedom from tyranny & the message of "no kings" rings out from a growing chorus of average American citizens across the land.By the time Venus moves back into Aries on April 30, Mars becomes her dispositor. That means Venus is once again the warrior &, as the ruler of the Sun in Taurus, we're all more inclined to defend & protect not only our own rights, but to fight for the rights of those who are less able to defend & protect themselves. By the time Venus conjoins Neptune in Aries May 2, we may well see a greater empathic response from the collective related to a myriad number of issues, the importance of which the collective will have awakened to by then. That's as long as we allow the Taurus Sun to ground us & we don't go off into flights of fantasy about what's really happening around us.Be sure to tune in for all this & more starting Friday, April 25 @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking Especially as we head toward next week's Pluto's station retrograde & Uranus's conjunction to "off with his head!" fixed star Algol May 4/5, as these astro events are sure to be impactful since all planets are in direct motion until then—See you then! Namaste…#karmicevolution, #astronewsyoucanuse, #astrologicallyspeaking, #taurusnewmoon, #sunandmoonsquaremarsandpluto, #marsplutoopposition, #venusentersaries, #saturnnorthnodeconjunction, #heliacalrising, #marsneptunetrine, #venusneptuneconjunction, #venussaturnconjunctione

Simmering threats between Iran and the US are nearing their boiling point, after Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said this week that Tehran would retaliate if attacked. The heated tone comes after American President Donald Trump warned earlier that the US would bomb Iran and impose additional tariffs if it did not agree to a nuclear deal. Tit-for-tat warnings have sparked fears that Iran may be on the brink of weaponising its nuclear programme. Tensions have been brewing for the past several weeks as Mr Trump hawkishly tries to strike an agreement after withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action during his first term in office. But the geopolitical landscape today is drastically different to what it was back then, with Iran's assets in the region greatly weakened. In this episode of Beyond the Headlines, host Nada AlTaher asks whether the outcome will be conflict or resolution. She speaks to Dr Sanam Vakil, director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House, and Francesco Schiavi, Middle East analyst and non-resident fellow at the Middle East Institute Switzerland.

How far do you think American President Donald Trump could go in his adversity toward the European Union? Let's say on a scale from zero to ten, where 10 is the worst scenario akin to the EU being at war with the US. "I think probably somewhere like 8,5," Minna Ålander said to me. She is a Non-resident Fellow with the Transatlantic Defense and Security Program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) and the Chatham House Associate Fellow. Minna recently wrote an article - Is Trump Making Europe Great Again? - so we discussed her piece in a more detailed way and we also talked about if Europeans can and should lead the free world, however we define it. Listen to our conversation. And if you enjoy what I do, please support me on Ko-fi! Thank you. https://ko-fi.com/amatisak

The American President Donald Trump wants farmers in the US to produce more for the domestic market as the rows over import tariffs continue. So what might this all this mean for them, for us and for global trade? For This Natural Life, this week on on BBC Radio 4, Martha Kearney visited Sir James Dyson on his farm in Somerset to hear what the natural world means to him, and how that is being reflected in his approach to farming.Bird flu continues to hit poultry farms across the country. After a highly amicable meeting with the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, American President Donald Trump held a similar meeting with Zelensky - but the terms weren't quite as friendly. The world leaders interrupted each other and, to put it mildly, loudly disagreed on the prospect of a ceasefire. Vice President JD Vance also directly scolded the Ukrainian President for not thanking the US. The resounding consensus was that the meeting could not have gone worse. For an autopsy of this historic falling out, Piers Morgan speaks to President Trump's senior advisor Jason Miller as well as author Scott Horton, senior political correspondent at Puck News Tara Palmeri, Sunday Times correspondent Matthew Syed and founder of Outkick Clay Travis. Once esteemed Director of the Secret Service, with a robust legacy marked by incisive decision-making and dedication to duty, has resigned, kicking off a series of events that has caught the attention of former American President Donald Trump, prominent news networks, and an interested public. The resignation came in thewake of an unprecedented event - a lone gunman penetrating the meticulously layered security matrix guarding the perimeters of the American leadership.MSNBC's acclaimed commentator, Lawrence O'Donnell, outlined the context of the situation with insights reflecting on Kamala Harris's prosecutor record. The seasoned journalist suggests that Trump must adjust his expectations and bracingly familiarize himself with her efficacious pedigree, particularly as a prosecutor. In their years of public service one has developed a reputation as a tenacious prosecutor while the other, a seasoned business mogul turned President, has experienced the brunt of legal scrutiny in the public eye. A narrative already shaping up to be one filled with dramatic political interplay is the result of the coming together of two colossal figures in American politics - Harris and Trump.Kamala Harris, the trail-blazing Prosecutor, is no stranger to high-stakes prosecution, her comprehensive records bearing testament to her scrupulous investigative skills, strategic acumen and unwavering commitment to justice. In an environment saturated with momentous changes and daunting challenges, Kamala's extensive prosecution experience has endowed her with a unique lens in adjudicating matters of national security and political relevance.Donald Trump, on the other end, is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Thrust amidst turbulent political landscapes and a myriad of legal imbroglios, Trump's journey from the world of ostentatious real estate to the highest seat of American politics – The White House, warrants merit. As these two individuals cross paths, an interesting discourse is anticipated both within and beyond the realms of the political corridors. Trump's experience with litigation and Harris's extensive prosecution record place them at interesting counterpoints. Another central figure keenly following this unfolding drama is Jack Smith. As an active participant in socio-political dialogues, Smith brings a diverse perspective to the current narrative. Drawing from his fanatical interest in American politics, unparalleled analytical abilities, and broad social reach, Jack Smith's commentary is eagerly awaited. This evolving tale of power and politics, laid bare by the departure of the Secret Service's Director and teeming with the potential for significant ramifications, underscores the intriguing dynamic between Trump and Harris. This saga, watched keenly from the sidelines by Jack Smith and the rest of the world, promises to ripple through the fabric of American political discourse for times to come.

Steven Sadow, legal counsel for former American President Donald Trump, stated on a recent Friday that any attempt to charge Trump with attempts to overturn the 2020 Georgia election results should be put on hold, especially if he is victorious in the upcoming election. This discourse unfolded as the presiding judge in the case attempted to carve out a date for the trial amidst Trump's existing legal issues and the fast-approaching political race. Trump, presently leading the pack for the Republican nomination for the 2024 Presidential race, is geared up to rival current Democratic President, Joe Biden. Arguing for his client's interests, Sadow contends that should Trump win in the next elections, calls for the postponement of his trial until his term concludes would be made, maintaining that an ongoing trial would disrupt his presidential duties. Despite facing an array of state and federal prosecutions, Trump has shown an inclination towards delaying the cases until after the November 5, 2024 election. These observations reinforce the possibility that Trump could make use of his campaign, and a potential second term in the Presidency, as buffers to impede these trials. This is even the case in state courts wherein Trump stands without the ability to grant himself pardons or directly influence the prosecutorial processes.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The clashes at and around Zaporizhzhia have led to urgent international calls for an end to fighting around the plant, the largest of its kind in Europe. *) Hostage drama at Beirut bank ends after armed man turns himself in A hostage standoff in which a gunman demanded a Beirut bank let him withdraw his trapped savings so that he could pay his father's medical bills ended seven hours later. His wife told reporters after his arrest that her husband “did what he had to do". *) Sri Lankan ex-president Rajapaksa arrives in Bangkok after fleeing protests Former Sri Lankan president Gotabaya Rajapaksa has arrived in Bangkok after his visa ran out following a month-long stint in Singapore. The Thai foreign ministry said it received a request from Colombo for the 73-year-old deposed leader to visit and an assurance that he would not seek political asylum. Earlier, Rajapaksa flew into Singapore from the Maldives on July 14 after fleeing a deepening economic crisis and widespread protests in Sri Lanka. And finally… *) Switzerland's mountain pass set to lose all ice within weeks The thick layer of ice that has covered a Swiss mountain pass for centuries will melt away completely within a few weeks, a ski resort has warned. While the ice measured around 50-feet thick in 2012, the ground underneath "will have completely resurfaced by the end of September", the Glacier 3000 ski resort said in a statement. Following a dry winter, the summer heat waves hitting Europe have been catastrophic for the Alpine glaciers, which have been melting at an accelerated rate.
The House select committee looking into the Jan. 6 insurrection has wrapped its hearing, with the panel presenting new evidence suggesting former American President Donald Trump not only failed to act, but chose not to as he watched the riot unfold on television. This is a panel discussion recorded in Wanaka, at the 2021 Festival of Colour's "Aspiring Conversations" series. Lynn Freeman chairs the session exploring Fake News. She's joined by two experienced and high-profile New Zealand journalists with, understandably, strong views on the subject: Newshub's Paddy Gower and from the Dominion Post, editor Anna Fifield. Later they're joined by expat commentator Dr Mel Bunce who wrote The Broken Estate: Journalism and Democracy in a Post-Truth World.. The expression "Fake News" became a favourite of former American President Donald Trump. But of course the idea of people in power discrediting journalism has been around for much, much longer. The panel discussion took place at the Crystal Palace in Wanaka last month.
In the past couple of years, there was great tension between the Israeli government and Israelis with many of our brothers in the US. A lot was shed over the Kotel compromise and the Conversion Law along with the close relationship between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and American President Donald Trump has brought tension to new heights. But, under the carpet, and tremendous efforts are being made in Israel to strengthen the bond. Along with my guest today I will discuss where do we, Israelis, stand in our relationship with our American brothers and sisters, what we did wrong, and what is being done today from the Israeli side of the equation in order to narrow the growing gaps and make a shift in Israeli approach and policies in order to find a w path in order to bring a new horizon to the Israeli-American Jewry relations. Dúirt Uachtarán Mheiriceá Donald Trump go bhfuil sé ag iarraidh aistriú socair cumhachta agus go mbeadh athmhuintearas i measc mhuintir na tíre. Dúirt Donald Trump an méid seo tar éis do roinnt daoine ina rialtas féin tabhairt le fios go raibh siad ag éirí as mar gheall ar an ruathar a thug lucht tacaíochta an Uachtaráin faoi Theach na Comhdhála. Bhí lucht Trump ag léirsiú taobh amuigh den fhoirgneamh agus fearg orthu faoi thoradh an toghcháin sular thug siad séirse ar an áit. They went past security guards, smashed windows, climbed over the walls and some of them managed to get as far as the assembly rooms of the House of Congress. The American President Donald Trump is spending another day at the White House, with no public events on his schedule. But behind the scenes, he continues to hold a series of private meetings that are raising concerns about his continuing plans to try to block Joe Biden from becoming America's next President. On Friday, according to multiple news organizations there was a "screaming match" in the Oval Office after the President proposed to seize the voting machines used in the election and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate election fraud. Washington Correspondent Simon Marks says that with less than a month remaining in office, the President continues to deny the political reality that he's facing.
In this episode I have uploaded my presentation to the Albert Camus Society annual meeting held on-line on October 23, 2020. Title: Four Character Studies from The Plague and Their American Counterparts During COVID-19 In this paper I will take a close look at four characters in Camus’ The Plague and situate them in the current (2020) American landscape while suffering under COVID-19. I will illuminate Father Panloux in relation to American Christian response to COVID, particularly the Baptist Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; Dr. Rieux and the American medical community paying special attention to the CDC; Cottard as the American radical right; and Rambert and the American press with attention given to the idea of “fake news” and social media. As a bonus, I will identify Dr. Castel and, although difficult, locate the American President Donald Trump in the text. I will use a descriptive tool from Simone Weil known as decreation to help illuminate the normative aspects of this comparison.

Hello, this is the World News Podcast from Just Talking English, listen to the most important news, while learning and training English. I'm Edward Jr and for today, these are our main stories. “Good morning! Let's start today by politics” POLITICS – Donald Trump could be sued (processed) by the Rolling Stones. It is not the first time that American President Donald Trump has been involved in copyright controversies. In yet another episode of copyright, Trump has been using the song 'You Can’t Always Get What You Want' by the Rolling Stones group for his re-election campaign. The band did not like the attitude of the president and appealed to the North American music copyright agency. Donald is prevented from using the music again, and if he does, he will violate a license agreement with the organization and could be sued by the rockers. WORLD – Russia denies being the origin of a cloud of radioactive material over Scandinavia. Nuclear security agencies in Finland, Norway and Sweden said last week that they had identified radioactive isotopes in the atmosphere more than normal. Russia said the radioactive material detected in the Scandinavia region did not occur at one of its facilities. Chernobyl is considered one of the biggest man-made disasters in the history of mankind, the April 1986 explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant created a radioactive cloud that passed through much of Europe. SPACE – Now space, I like this topic. Scientists find two 'super-earths ' close to the solar system - Two planets were found by an international team of scientists near the habitable zone of a star, that is, the region where the planets can present conditions that allow life to exist. Both planets orbit a red dwarf star about half the mass of the Sun and located 11 light years away. Scientists also detected signs of what could be a third planet, even larger than the previous two, orbiting the same star. This third planet would be located well inside of the habitable zone. GAMES – Do you like to ply games? I like! Heavy Metal Machines open tournament has a prize of R $ 25 thousand, this is impressive! The Heavy Metal Machines edition starts on July 4th and will have prizes of R $ 25 thousand. Each edition will have two tournaments, the Metal League Pro, for experienced teams, and the Metal League Beginner, for players who are taking their first steps in the game. Registration is free. If you like to play games, go now. ECONOMY – Our last news for today, economy. Why we need to debunk (reveal) the 'deficit myth'. Currently, government spending is growing at an unprecedented rate to deal with the effects of the global pandemic. Many people fear that this could have implications for future generations with a large debt to be paid. However, economist Stephanie Kelton, author of The Deficit Myth, argues that we need to rethink our attitudes towards government spending. Listen to a small section of her speech, you can find the link in the description. https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p08jbbry/why-we-need-to-debunk-the-deficit-myth- And that was all for us for now, you can read the transcript of this podcast on the Just Talking English website. I'm Edward Jr, until next time, goodbye.
American President Donald Trump is threatening to withdraw thousands of American troops from Germany. He accuses Germany of not contributing enough to NATO. The overall number of US soldiers based in Germany dropped massively at the end of the Cold War. But the country still hosts more troops than any other European country. FRANCE 24 went to Kaiserslautern where more than half of the American soldiers are based. It’s a region where the American presence is an essential part of the economy.
American President Donald Trump recently boasted about a new "super duper missile". While Russia President Vladimir Putin talked of his Countries superior nuclear forces. Russia has now changed its nuclear doctrine to include the use of nuclear weapons in a conflict with NATO. And China too is stepping up production of nuclear stockpiles. Nuclear arms control agreements are expiring and unravelling. A NEW ARMS RACE has begun. British Rear Admiral John Gower, CB OBE, served, until his retirement in December 2014, as Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Nuclear & Chemical, Biological) in the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). And Christine Parthemore is Chief Executive Officer of the Council on Strategic Risks (CSR). Both join us on BACK STORY with Dana Lewis to discuss the increasing dangers of nuclear weapons.
American President Donald Trump has been talking a lot about a certain drug called hydroxychloroquine. It's an old anti-malarial which is sometimes used to treat auto-immune diseases. So can it cure COVID-19? Why the hype? On today's show: * How do I safely manage work clothes? * When we wash our hands to wash away the bad germs, do we wash away the good germs too? * Is large scale temperature checking useful to find people who may have the virus? * Can two positively diagnosed COVID-19 people live together in the same house? * Is coronavirus more agressive overseas? And a study (preprint) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has looked into physical distancing and has found that it works amazingly well.

https://awesomers.com/145 --> Show page Since as a country we now seem to manage international policy on Twitter, the American President Donald Trump tweeted and escalated the Trade dispute recently. We think he did it just to make Steve look wrong. In today's show, Steve breaks down where we are now and what it means. As always, take a deep breath. There is a solution to every problem. But the enhanced rhetoric is a reason to pay close attention. Based on all of the facts we have we should pay close attention to the time frame of June 1, 2019, as a reference point. If both China and the USA start to smooth out the talk and especially if we have a "pause" button again then there is a real possibility we can ride out the storm. However, given the day to day escalation of this war of words, it does appear that Steve's assessment of this being a trade kerfuffle may have been wrong and that Trump is playing to win and the Chinese are playing to not lose. This means Trump has to come out with a full house to brag about it so he can be re-elected. President Xi just has to wait out Trump's term and put pressure points on Trump voters (farmers, blue collar, even some high tech, and USA manufacturers) and hope that someone else is elected President. That said, Xi will have to pull a straight flush to beat Trump if he remains in office because manufacturers are setting up all over the world outside of China. China faces the largest potential exit of capital in its history and the ongoing trade with other countries WILL impact China. Yes, China does have a rising consumer economy of its own but they can not service their massive off-balance sheet debts and shadow loans without continuous surplus from the USA. All of China knows this. There are a ton of factors in play that Steve talks about in the podcast today far beyond simple tariffs. If the winds are blowing negative after the first part of June Steve will start moving as much manufacturing as possible out of China. He estimates he can move 90-95% of product out of China over the next year. The risk is that this whole "trade war" could be a head fake. Trump and Xi could settle this suddenly one day and the cost and effort of moving will be a heavy burden to bear. The opportunity cost of moving and the risk of it being unnecessary are all part of the equation that Amazon Sellers, e-commerce importers, and brand builder must consider. Steve is preparing his team to start sourcing the same products outside of China for Empowery members as well. If you buy products from China and ship them anywhere you should pay attention. If you buy products from China and ship them to the USA you should subscribe, join our email list, and stay plugged into this information every single day. There is always opportunity in chaos! https://awesomers.com/145 --> Show page
Since the June summit between American President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, progress on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula has been sporadic. Both leaders have made cautious moves aimed at trust building, while North and South Korea have concurrently taken even bolder steps toward conciliation. Still, the fundamental points of contention remain: North Korea has nuclear weapons, sanctions on Pyongyang persist, and a peace treaty to end the Korean War—which began in 1950—has yet to be signed. As the US and North Korea make plans for a second Trump-Kim summit, will expectations for a lasting peace be met, or will recent progress prove only an illusion? How much trilateral cooperation is occurring behind the scenes? Are we at the brink of an ultimate deal, or an inevitable disappointment?
Darrell Castle talks about the new trade agreement negotiated between President Trump and newly elected President Lopez Obrador of Mexico. Transcription / Notes NAFTA REPLACED—AT LEAST WITH MEXICO Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. Today is Friday, September 7, 2018. Having just celebrated Labor Day with a three day weekend, we here at the Castle Report find ourselves in a contemplative mood. We continue week by week to bring all our vast resources of engineers, technicians, videographers, sound technicians and those who advise us on language, punctuation, etc., to bear in the war in which we find ourselves. The war to save our Republic and the war to save civilization is our war, our beat if you will, and we endeavor to report from as close to the front lines of that war as possible. Moderation in war is an absurdity as Von Clausewitz said, and Corporate America in its hatred and utter disdain for traditional, especially middle class, Americans must believe Clausewitz's statement because Corporate America continually spits in their faces then rubs their noses in it, and says, buy our products anyway because we believe that you traditional Americans living in flyover country are the most ignorant, stupid and totally brainwashed people on earth. So despite our best efforts we are losing the war, and consequently the Republic and Western Civilization will soon be gone and a new civilization, once unthinkable, will have replaced it. We have much evidence for such pessimism but, as I said earlier, we are contemplative today. Perhaps very soon the ideal desired by all smart, educated, woke people will be realized and then all races, genders, and other pronouns will not only be equal but identical. Everyone will be aesthetically the same with an understanding that no difficult questions may be asked because that would be, well, difficult, and intolerant, and intolerance will not be tolerated. We ask ourselves, what is the real problem here in America and we answer; the real problem is that the body politic is infected with a disease of the heart which will be very difficult to cure and may prove to be fatal. For these reasons and many more we here at the Castle Report sometimes wonder what it would be like to impose upon ourselves the sentence supposedly given by Pope Benedict to Cardinal Mc Carrick and that was to retire to a life of penance and prayer. That is not our sentence, however, so we soldier on and continue the fight. With that in mind we turn our attention today back toward our friends south of the border, and take a brief look at the trade deal recently worked out between the incoming Mexican president, Lopez Obrador, and the American President Donald Trump. President Trump said repeatedly during his campaign that he thought NAFTA was a bad deal for the United States so when the opportunity arose he withdrew the United States from the formal NAFTA. When the new President, Lopez Obrador was elected, President Trump seized on the chance to make progress and sent a delegation to meet with him. Out of that conference evolved bilateral talks about how trade could be made better for both countries. Bilateral, obviously means between two parties and in this case it means no Canada. Canada has opted not to participate, or the United States and Mexico have opted not to include them, or it's just a tactic to squeeze the Canadians, or Donald Trump and Canada's Trudeau have a personal spat, but somewhere in there lies the reason that Canada has not been included to this point. The new deal, now called The U.S.-Mexico Trade Agreement, is centered on the auto industry and the labor laws surrounding that industry. Under the terms of the agreement, 75% of a car would have to be manufactured in North America, up from 62.5% under current rules. In addition, the new rules would impose a minimum wage of $16 per hour to qualify for zero tariffs. So the car would have to be at least 75% made in Mexico...

Helga Zepp-LaRouche delivers her keynote address to an audience in Manhattan at the Schiller Institute's conference, "A Dialogue of Three Presidencies: Bending the Arc of the Universe Towards Justice." American President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin could together, in the next months, make the most important set of decisions to affect humanity since the Renaissance of the fifteenth century. The right decisions made by these three nations and their allies in the next weeks, could begin, in the near term, to eliminate poverty, colonialism and war from the planet. British Imperial forces well aware they are losing control of the failing transatlantic geopolitical process are attempting to re-take the advantage. As with British Intelligence agent Christopher Steele’s Russia-Gate hoax, now, the “Russia poisoned Sergei Skripal and his daughter” hoax is intended to drive a wedge between President Trump and Vladimir Putin.

We analyse what might happen in some of the highlights expected from the meeting, including American President Donald Trump’s first real address to the international community and UN Secretary General António Guterres presiding over his first General Assembly debate since assuming his new role. Mina Al Oraibi, Editor in Chief of The National and a journalist with more than 10 years experience covering the event in New York, gives insight into just how much happens on the side-lines and whether the intergovernmental body still holds its weight in global politics. Toby Harward, head of the UNHCR office in the UAE, describes how refugees are not only one of the biggest issues on the agenda this year but could become increasingly more prevalent as global warming is likely to cause even more human displacement as the earth warms. Carla Mirza, a writer for The National, explains that more could be done in the UN if people begin to understand leadership dynamics and how personalities play a part on this, the global stage.
