L&D and Leadership Trends with David Kelly

The Learning & Development Podcast

When we have an opportunity to understand L&D and Leadership trends from global L&D experts we should take them, right? On the eve of DevLearn, David Kelly (Chairman of the Learning Guild) gives us his perspective on the things we should be paying attention to as well as the areas we should be focusing our development on. KEY TAKEAWAYS Technology is changing the L&D landscape and we need to evolve with it, but this is something L&D has always done, the same conversations are happening the circumstances are just slightly different. L&D can sometimes be one of the first departments to be downsized if a company just looks at them as a cost centre, rather than how they should be looking at them, as a performance partner that is connected to driving the organisation forward. Mixed reality is very powerful, AR and VR can be good solutions to specific problems but their advantages and speed have slowed down, with AI taking a lot of attention away from development.  Whilst AI is impacting many areas of almost all organisations, it's important to understand where your organisation sits on takeup and where you can fit into that and act accordingly. L&D can appear to be susceptible to 'trends' but this isn't negative. Those who work in L&D are naturally curious and are looking for ways to help and support people's growth which naturally lends itself to new ideas and tools.  As the world develops and changes around us, so does how we learn, are our education and learning models keeping up pace? Leadership is something that is given by others and it isn't a set of traits but skills that can be learnt. Leadership is about what we do, rather than who we are. You can be an effective leader at any level of an organisation; it's about how you approach the job you are assigned.  A modern L&D organisation always needs to be looking to what's next, what does the L&D need to look like to support the organisation in the future.  BEST MOMENTS 'I was always very involved in my career at giving back to the industry' ‘The industry is in the exact same space it's been for 20 years' ‘I can tell you that the industry is growing rapidly…doesn't make a difference where I am working for an organisation where I am seen as a cost that needs to be mitigated' 'AI is sucking all the energy out of the room' 'Hype is nothing more than shared energy, but what is driving that energy' 'We don't want to do something because it's cool but because it can make a difference' 'My focus in leadership in the L&D space is removing the role from the equation and focusing more on the environment that learning exists' David Kelly Bio As Chairman of the Learning Guild, David Kelly constantly explores the convergence of learning and technology, demonstrating a profound commitment to transforming workplaces and enriching lives through innovative learning strategies. With over two decades of experience in learning and performance leadership and consulting, he brings his passion to life in his daily work building events and resources with the Guild and as a dynamic speaker and writer, inspiring others to view their work through a fresh, technology-enhanced lens. Numbers & Narratives 7 Steps to Proving L&D Value with Neil John Cunningham

At some point or another, we've all found ourselves struggling to demonstrate the value of our L&D solutions, wondering if there has been value or whether we'll find it. For many of us, it's a constant search. In this episode, Neil John Cunningham unpacks this for us and lets us in on the steps outlined in his most recent book, Numbers & Narratives, to prove the value of our L&D. KEY TAKEAWAYS Don´t worry about not understanding the data. Someone in the business will just ask them to explain it to you. Using data stories to prove the effectiveness of what you are doing is good for you as well as for the business. Most of us are not getting the most out of existing business data. Storytelling is incredibly powerful, especially if you back it up with data. The Hero´s Journey storytelling framework is often a good way to structure a data story. Once you´ve got your hypothesis, where the business is going and where it needs to go, break that down into learning objectives. Using data stories appeals to people who are emotionally driven as well as to those who are data driven. Understand what commercials are important to the people in your business. If you don´t know what the financials are e.g. how much it costs to handle each call talk to the people that do know. Be really honest about L&D can offer. If you can´t help with a certain issue, be brave enough to say so. Keep things simple and succinct. As much as possible use simple, universally understood data. BEST MOMENTS 'I´d been creating these little data stories, I could prove that what I was doing was having an effect.' 'The way you solve the L&D engagement issue is to solve problems that matter to individuals.' 'Show where L&D can do better.' What do 146 L&D professionals care most about? What are the killer stats L&D should know about right now? Is ‘learning content' really necessary? What questions will be pulled from the cuddly toy's posterior? Find out the answers to all these questions and more in this very special live edition of The Learning & Development Podcast with guests Nick Shackleton-Jones and Kenny Temowo. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding how to provide their organisation with greater value and impact is a big concern for L&D professionals. 75% of people said their work leader had more of an influence on their mental health than their life partner does. Experiential training for leaders enables them to better understand how their behaviour and expectations impact those who work for them. The fact that future generations look at work differently is having a huge impact on L&D. When people are offered face-to-face training, they feel invested in. Gamification isn´t working but simulations are. If you can´t see a measurable change (ROI) the chances are you should not be doing it. Content has to be carefully crafted to be relevant. BEST MOMENTS 'I would make sure that we're really involving and holding accountable the leaders.' 'How do we help organizations manage stability, the sense of belonging and psychological safety that we need.' 'Content only matters to you if it's relevant somehow.' All the talk is of AI but what about the action? Is it too soon to act or are we at risk of missing the bus? In this episode, seasoned CLO, Christopher Lind, explores how he has led his team and organisation in the age of AI towards expecting and achieving more. KEY TAKEAWAYS L&D teams need to adapt fast to both technological and economic disruptors and learn to use a new bag of tricks. You have to understand what is needed before you can deliver, so you have to push back a bit on the pressure to do everything in a rush. When you change the way L&D works you are going to get pushback. You will have to stand your ground but pick your battles. Be very patient with your stakeholders when you change things. It will take many months for them to see the improvement and fully understand the change. To help the stakeholder recognise whether this thing is really that important, ask what things will look like once we have fixed this, Get to know people on a personal level. Building strong relationships opens up communication and makes things far easier down the line. Use AI to work faster, but also think creatively and ask how you can use it to do things differently. AI makes true real-time active learning possible. Use AI to improve your skills and help you to do your job better and faster. AI creates time for you to do things you simply didn´t have enough capacity for before. BEST MOMENTS 'I can get an algorithm to create more creative content than a person now.' 'You actually can use this (AI) for yourself as well.' 'People aren't transactions, they are relationships… focus on relationships.' 'Technology is radically opening new pathways to do stuff like we've never been able to do before.' KEY TAKEAWAYS If you have coeliac disease and Hashimoto's, if you remove gluten from your diet, in some cases you can reverse the subclinical hypothyroidism and rid yourself of thyroid antibodies. Genetic predisposition, leaky gut and a trigger are the three things that must have manifested for an auto-immune condition to be present. When people are under a chronic stress response, their alignment with the circadian rhythm suffers greatly, and cortisol production might increase as a result. People starting off on their journey are wise to eliminate problematic foods through elimination diets of food sensitivity tests. Most of us want to be in good shape and improve our health span, not just our life span. In this episode, Angela talks to dietician and science educator, Holly Baxter, about the most effective ways in which you can get lean, achieve optimal health levels, and remain vibrantly full of energy in a way that is the most beneficial for your body and mind, and why excessive cardio might actually be holding you back. KEY TAKEAWAYS If we engage in cardio too regularly, and carry a calorie deficit, it can negatively impact the energy available for muscle recovery when we need it most. The best way to increase lean body mass and reduce body fat is through incorporating a high protein diet and moderating caloric intake. The latest research into fat loss seems to suggest that there are few advantages in diets that are high in carbohydrates and low in fat vs diets that are high in fat and low in carbohydrates. Everyone is unique and has a bespoke set of requirements. The best coach or mentor will always prescribe an approach based on the individual's needs, and not a one-size-fits-all programme, as these rarely work. BEST MOMENTS 'I definitely had a strong focus on how to optimise my physique for performance' 'It's important to recognise that everybody has a unique preference for different foods' 'What is going to govern the rate of weight loss is the degree of calorie deficit' 'You've got to learn about your client and meet them where they are at' VALUABLE RESOURCES Take My Biohacking Quiz and Get A Free Personalised Report - www.yourtotalhealthcheck.comBecome an Insider of The Female Biohacker Collective and have Angela as Your Health Coach in Your Pocket - www.femalebiohacker.comFree Fasting Guide - www.angelafosterperformance.com/fastingPodcast Shownotes - www.angelafosterperformance.com/podcasts Thanks to our Sponsor: Bon Charge -  Get 20% off at www.boncharge.com/Angela ABOUT THE GUEST Holly Baxter is a Dietitian and Science Educator that has been involved in the health and fitness industry for some 13 + years, where much of this time has been dedicated to providing her clients and followers around the world, with evidenced-based education, and to putting up the good fight against the many misconceptions surrounding food, nutrition, and exercise. Liezl talks to Hannes Van Den Berg, a survivor of a tick bite, who contracted tick bite fever in the aftermath of being targeted by the creature. Hannes describes the effects of the fever, as well as what he has learned through the experience, and how it has changed his life since then. KEY TAKEAWAYS The attack happened during the COVID pandemic, and so naturally, the focus of all health officials was turned towards combatting the virus. This meant that other forms of health care were unconsciously sidelined, meaning the danger to Hannes was even greater. The results of the tick bite meant that Hannes' legs were amputated below the knee, as well as the distal phalanges of his fingers. Living with prosthetics ever since has been the ultimate challenge. Occupational therapy has since been doing all it can to teach Hannes to live with his new condition. It requires an entirely new way of living, retraining in every aspect of life - even the simplest of tasks such as walking and writing are all new. Dr Johan Beukes is one of the most well-known leadership coaches in South Africa and the founder and director at Dr Johan Beukes Leadership Coaching. Johan specialises in high-performance leaders, helping and guiding them to become the best they can be. He joins Liezl to discuss leadership, the importance of factoring social and emotional well-being in life decisions and his proven formula for coaching and inspiring high performance. KEY TAKEAWAYS From a young age, Johan felt that he wanted to make a positive difference in the world, at first he wasn't sure how he was going to achieve this but now he feels like coaching was his calling, to help others. Leaders frequently make emotionally fuelled decisions without considering the wider ramifications for others, or themselves or recognising their own bias. People can easily become fixated on just one element or part of their lives, making them unbalanced and mentally unwell. Those who go through Johan's processes can at least say they did what was possible to broaden their consciousness and awareness and live as regret-free as they are able in life. Johan helps people align their head and heart, helping with both decision-making and acceptance of those decisions too. People need to be inspired and one of Johan's key aims is to inspire people, to motivate them to create the life they have always wanted to live. Interpersonal leadership is an art and a science, you need to be able to lead teams effectively to perform well as a leader. A lot of Johan's steps can sound very simple but they are things that are frequently not prioritised, such as celebrating wins and contemplating things that you and your team have achieved.   BEST MOMENTS 'I have a deep sense that it's work that has been given to me' ‘There is a necessity to make decisions to help your mental health' ‘Sit for a moment and think, what is the impact of this decision socially' ‘One of the most important things is what do I want to do, what would I love to do' ‘I take leaders beyond performance where you actually get into a flow state, into a zone' EPISODE RESOURCES www.johanbeukes.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-johan-beukes/ https://www.instagram.com/jabeukes/?hl=en https://www.facebook.com/jabeukes1/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/inthespotlightwithliezlInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/inthespotlightwithliezlFacebook personal: https://www.facebook.com/lcolditzvanrooyen/Instagram personal: https://www.instagram.com/liezl_colditzvanrooyen/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/van-rooyen-liezl/ ABOUT THE PODCAST  In the Spotlight was born as a platform to share, broadcast and promote the interesting, wonderful and inspiring things that some of the people who crossed Liezl's path have done. Zephnè Weston was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder as a result of placing too much stress on herself in order to achieve more and reach higher levels of success. Since recovering, Zephnè has been doing all she can to raise awareness of this condition and preach the message that our health and wellbeing should always come first before any concerns about career milestones. This week, Zephnè joins Liezl to talk about her story and why self-love and self-acceptance are more valuable than anything else in life. KEY TAKEAWAYS The experiences of our youth can shape the levels of drive and ambition we have as an adult. The pains of youth can directly influence the pleasures of maturity. Workaholism is often carried a badge of honour. As an attribute, we hold it up as an example of our worth, believing that it is somehow connected with our value. At the first sign of disorder with our bodies, we must seek advice and guidance from a professional. Even minor symptoms can be the signifier of a more deep-rooted issue. If you struggle with anxiety, which many people do, then we must recognise that it isn't why we were put on this earth. We are not meant to live in an anxious way. Jim joins Angela to talk about his latest work, 'Unashamedly Superhuman', a book designed to designed to help you "Harness Your Inner Power and Achieve Your Greatest Professional and Personal Goals". KEY TAKEAWAYS The label of "Superhuman" is often reserved for a privileged few, and can feel a little unrelatable at times. But we all have that potential inside us. No one ever instinctually believes that they are working to their full potential. We inherently know that we can always do better. Specialists in endurance train their people to reward themselves through self-administering dopamine, a technique known as "thin slice recognition". It's about rewarding yourself each step of the way and not using the distant end goal as the prize. When you enter a mindfulness practice, you build and develop centres of the brain that cause you to recruit the focus circuits. When you go into your day, you will find that this helps you to feel less distracted. This week, Liezl is joined by the newly-crowned Mrs Globe South Africa 2022 - Zanele Sibiya! Zanele joins Liezl to talk about her wonderfully inspiring story, the origins of her fascinating name, how the world of pageantry has changed and evolved in the past decades and how the empowerment of women and the telling of their stories are leading to true global change. Mrs. Globe is one of the most recognized and celebrated international pageants for Mrs. in the world. With a 25 year history and over 80 countries participating, it celebrates, empowers and uplift women from all cultures and walks of life. This was the first year that Mrs Globe was licensed in South Africa. KEY TAKEAWAYS Pageantry has always played a huge part of South African culture and brought people together in ways that inspired and ignited a sense of community. Inclusion in the world of pageantry is evolving now, to include not just a small section of womanhood, but a broader selection of powerful women, all of whom have stories of their own. When life pushes you down, the only way to come back is to pick yourself up and move. Not only are you demonstrating strength to yourself, you're also setting an example to those who look up to you. Women have always been held back from fulfilling their true potential in all corners of society. With the changing of attitudes now comes a real opportunity for us to plant ourselves in the spaces we didn't inhabit before. This is a time in which we can change the world forever. BEST MOMENTS 'I am grateful for the evolvement of women' 'A woman is a woman, whether you have a child or not, we all have a story to tell' 'They need to know that even in the darkest time you need to get up and move' 'Understanding who you are is very important' EPISODE RESOURCES Mrs Globe South Africa - https://mrssouthafricaglobe.com Mrs Globe - https://www.mrsglobe.com/mrs-globe https://www.instagram.com/zanele_xenn/https://www.facebook.com/zanele.x.radebe VALUABLE RESOURCES Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/inthespotlightwithliezlInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/inthespotlightwithliezlFacebook personal: https://www.facebook.com/lcolditzvanrooyen/Instagram personal: https://www.instagram.com/liezl_colditzvanrooyen/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/van-rooyen-liezl/ ABOUT THE PODCAST  In the Spotlight was born as a platform to share, broadcast and promote the interesting, wonderful and inspiring things that some of the people who crossed Liezl's path have done. Ishreen talks with Nick James founder of Expert Empires about taking action in his organisation to bring more diversity  He discusses that when people are naive and unaware of their own privilege, the conversation of privilege is ignored. This means that privilege isn't managed and stewarded in a way that presents its importance and impacts on people. Nick also shares the key steps he has taken and how focus and intention consistently are the keys to taking effective action   KEY TAKEAWAYS By facilitating those who are experts so that they were heard by my followers I was able to learn From zero to 25% of the workforce people of colour and from ethnic minority backgrounds is progress Its consistent action and a framework that we implement every day It's much harder to build diversity in a larger organisation, in a smaller organisation you can implement smaller experiments The first step was having the intention, it being shared with the leadership team and them understanding and buying into it We were consciously seeking members for our team from ethnic backgrounds People find it a difficult conversation Being conscious about the aspects of your business that are visible, any images should be relatable   BEST MOMENTS 'I've learned to say that I was uncomfortable and what my concerns were around talking about privilege' ‘We started to focus and have intention on this' ‘We have a great culture and people love coming to work each day but that doesn't happen by accident' ‘The first step was realising that there was unconscious bias in play'   VALUABLE RESOURCES Website: https://belongingpioneers.com/privilege-research-and-podcast Email: equitychampions@belongingpioneers.com Useful links: https://linktr.ee/BelongingPioneers   ABOUT THE HOSTS Ishreen Bradley is a Strategic Pioneer who guides Professional Leaders to navigate complex situations and achieve success with clarity, confidence, and courage. In this special episode, recorded in Miami and direct from the Gumball Rally, Steven talks to YouTube sensation and lifestyle influencer, Mr JWW, whose channel has attracted 160 million views and who commands a global social audience of over 1.5 million in 2021. Mr JWW talks candidly about his rise to success in the world of social media, how film changed his life, how consistency can help you to build a following, and of course, about his burning passion for some of the world's most special automobiles. KEY TAKEAWAYS Never let any challenges you have in life, stand in the way of what you dream about. You can always overcome a setback and reach your goals. Building a consistent following on social media is all about being consistent yourself. Post often and make sure you're turning out quality content. Buying equipment so as to bolster the content you make - investing in the items that fuel your content creation - is always a wise investment. Many see these things as luxury purchases, but they are necessities in terms of growing your reach. When audiences grow, the opportunities come far more quickly. This can lead to different revenue streams. Earning money from social media doesn't just come from selling advertising space. BEST MOMENTS  'I never believed this would gain the traction it did' 'When I had a camera pointed on me, I could talk - no problem at all' 'You need to post consistently. Three times a week - minimum!' 'One week on the rally is enough for a decade's worth of stories' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sulley Study           Mr JWW - https://www.mrjww.com  ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. Mark joins Steven to discuss the crossovers between the world of sport and business, the effects of his television appearance upon his life and career, and how drive, grit and resilience can help you to reach higher and achieve far more than you may believe.   KEY TAKEAWAYS   Discipline is a key tenet of the successful in business. This is why so many professional sports practitioners and those with a military background seem to succeed where others fail. The effects of fame are a mixed bag. On one hand, the elevation of your profile can help to open doors, but there are also downsides. You are suddenly opened up to the more negative side of society. Most people only operate at around 50% of their capacity. The true key to achieving more is to pen up the remaining energies you have. You will be surprised at what can be achieved by doing so. Every successful business person is grounded in the art of resilience. You have to be tough to make it to the top. The tougher you get, the further you go.   BEST MOMENTS   'I believe the most successful business people come from either a military background or a competitive sport background' 'I couldn't go for a Starbucks without having 50 selfies and talking about business on the street' 'When you're on top you're perceived to be a target' 'The thicker your skin gets, the more successful you'll be in business'   VALUABLE RESOURCES   The Steven Sulley Study        Mark Wright Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mwright_10/ Climb Online - https://climb-online.co.uk   ABOUT THE HOST   The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. KEY TAKEAWAYS The series this year has provided a much needed element of escapism and glamour to a year that many assumed would be brighter, but which has proved to be equally as troublesome as 2020. Strictly has been a tonic for the nation. With such an array of talent, and with such improved celebrity partners, the final is set to be an explosion of creativity and invention, and picking a winner will be extra tough this year. In this weeks episode, Shaa talks about how her Facebook and Instagram accounts got hacked ... and then deleted - and the ongoing saga she's having to recover them. As of this episode, there's been no resolution. It's the type of thing we feel happens to other people ... until it happens to us. Shaa shares the dangers that many of us face when building our businesses on rented ground - you don't own these platforms, you're just borrowing them.  It's been a sharp lesson that these platforms are more Faceless than Facebook. No accountability, no customer service, no response. A wake up call for us all. KEY TAKEAWAYS Two factor authentication is no guarantee of safety. Despite having this supposedly strong security measure enabled, access was still gained by hackers. Despite what we may believe, we do not own our social media presence. It can be taken away. This becomes unfortunately clear when unauthorised access occurs. This experience has demonstrated that while social media can be useful in terms of reaching your audience, it should never be our only avenue of earning money. We all create information, but the key to helping that to find its audience is to find a way to allow different audience to empathise and connect. Storification is not about providing a service. It is about recognising the problem that a client is trying to solve. A useful exercise is to record our "pitch", and examine the ways in which we present our offering Engaging content is about creating content that is new and interesting, but also recognising the right time at which to deliver that content so as to maximise its impact and reach. Businesses, while growing, always reach a point whereby our personal influence begins to bottleneck. To grow, we must build a brand and a funnel that is consistent. This can only be achieved by communicating consistently. When we create something that can positively benefit the world, it should be incumbent upon us to share this with the world, whether in business or life. This is why asking for endorsements should never be shied away from. BEST MOMENTS 'I focus on content, consistency and channels' 'Personalisation is about taking the message we've got and making it relevant to individuals' 'Content is king, but context is queen' 'The reason that we need to have a brand that's consistent over time is because that's what builds trust' 'If you genuinely believe you add value to the world, it's your duty to share it' VALUABLE RESOURCES Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/SystemsAndOutsourcing/ Website: https://systemsandoutsourcing.com/welcome-1 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/drsteveday www.Aiwriter.com Lumen5 Video maker: https://lumen5.com/ Desript All-in-one audio & video editing https://www.descript.com/ www.Grammarly.com www.Aiwriter.com Lumen5 Video maker: https://lumen5.com/ Desript All-in-one audio & video editing https://www.descript.com/ www.Grammarly.com ABOUT THE GUEST Jim James is the Champion of The UnNoticed! When it comes to time for guidance in life or business, we are often advised to seek the help of someone who's walked the path before us. But which guiding hand is right for us? In this episode, Shaa breaks down the differences between coaches, mentors and teachers, so as to help you make an informed decision about the guiding hand to suit you. KEY TAKEAWAYS It is important to distinguish between the different types of guidance, as all are really quite different. Without knowing what each terms means, we cannot obtain the correct guidance. Being a mentor is about having the experience in a certain area, that may prove useful to someone also embarking up that journey, without the structures of learning apparatus. A coach doesn't have to have industry experience or even knowledge relevant to your sector. Coaches are there to help their client find their path. Depending on what stage you are at in your business, and depending on the challenges ahead of you, you may need a mentor, teacher, coach or any combination of the three. BEST MOMENTS 'I needed someone to help me go faster' 'It is just not possible to be all of them at the same time' 'My goal is to help people get to where they need to get to in their businesses and their lives - faster!' 'I would prefer to have real clarity of understanding for everyone' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table   MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. This week, Kevin and Joanne are joined by their Patreon community for a conversation seeking to answer a questions that's long burned bright in the Strictly Come Dancing community - it is a serious dance competition, or an entertainment show? KEY TAKEAWAYS There is a pleasure to be found in knowing ahead of time when surprises on tv shows are to take place. But programmes are designed for drama, also, and should be experienced as such when possible. Theatre is back, and the world is so excited. The artform has to grow all over again, but with the will of fans and performers behind it, theatre can be rescued and can come back brighter than ever. Very often, we put far too much emphasis and importance upon powering through a challenge, when in reality, it's far better for everyone if you take time out to reflect and recover. The foundation of Strictly Come Dancing is that it appears to be a competition, but the ultimate judges are the public who vote. BEST MOMENTS  'I want to watch the launch show and be excited about what's happening' - 2:14 'Every time I raised the microphone to my mouth, the crowd started screaming louder' - 3:54 'What brings the professionals together - a competition within themselves' - 16:31 'It's entertainment, but I still like looking at it with a more technical eye' - 22:38 VALUABLE RESOURCES Joanne Clifton Twitter - https://twitter.com/joanneclifton?lang=en Joanne Clifton Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/realjoanneclifton/?hl=en The All New Kevin Clifton Show Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/TheKevinCliftonShow ABOUT THE HOST Kevin Clifton is a professional dancer who has been performing & competing at the highest level for over a decade. This week, Steven talks to fine artist, sculptor, and graffiti pioneer Kelly "RISK" Graval, the man Aerosmith famously called "Risk is to art, what Aerosmith is to Rock & Roll". RISK talks about his background, how he discovered his identity through art, and how artistic expression is the ultimate reflection of the place we're at in life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Graffiti and street art was formed on the streets as part of marking territory. In the early days, to mark someone else's territory generally resulted in reprisals. Our artistic identity is a construct built upon the influences and aspirations we experience in our formative years. Our artistic expression is a reflection of the life we live. During our angrier and more experimental years, it's reflected in the work we produce. When we find peace in ourselves, the art carries that message outwards. Collaborations with fashion brands or sportswear brands are not so much an aspirational goal for artists, but more of a rite of passage that generally denotes success has been achieved. BEST MOMENTS  'I hid myself in my drawings' 'Collaboration is a rite of passage' 'We grew up in the gang culture' 'Social media is a double-edged sword' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sulley Study      Risk - https://www.riskrock.com ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. My view is you should have multiple focuses to be a well-rounded individual. Success shouldn't be just one thing like money, for example, it should also consist of a healthy fit lifestyle and thriving relationships. Zoe speaks with New York Times bestselling cookbook author Julia Turshen about her childhood, the impact of diet culture and media culture growing up, her lifelong work in food, her latest cookbook, her current farm job, her work with Equity At The Table (EATT) and God's Love we Deliver KEY TAKEAWAYS Food is the pathway into the heritage of other cultures. By experiencing new taste sensations, we develop the desire to learn more about where they came from. In the media, and especially the magazine industry, there is a tendency to promote the idea that thin is beautiful - but healthy is even more beautiful. We reduce anxiety and doubt about sexuality when we bring our children up with acceptance. Julia's own upbringing was one of diversity and inclusivity, which made the process of coming out so much more easy. Cooking provides us with a sense of agency, and allows us to be in complete control of a part of our lives, which is rare in this world. BEST MOMENTS 'I grew up in a place where there was a lot of diversity. So I grew up eating a big range of things' 'I think it's incredibly common that a lot of us come from a history of disordered eating or eating disorders because there is an obsessiveness with food' 'Reading can be fun! Reading doesn't always have to be serious' 'When we cook, we have control over what we're doing, which is a nice feeling in a world where we actually have no control over anything' VALUABLE RESOURCES Julia Turshen Twitter - https://twitter.com/turshen Julia Turshen Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/turshen/ Julia Turshen - https://www.juliaturshen.com ABOUT THE HOST Zoe Adjonyoh is a writer, chef, and food justice activist from South-East London on a mission to bring African food to the masses. Zoe speaks with Palestinian-Syrian chef Reem Assil, owner of Reem's California based in Oakland, about her years as a labor organizer, discovering her deeply personal connection to food and her ancestry, and her team's transition to a worker-owned cooperative model for her restaurant and bakery. KEY TAKEAWAYS We can instil a love for responsibility by showing people that they are trusted with a task. By giving them a sense of ownership, and allowing them to find their own approach, responsibility takes on a new maturity. Great writers, great thinkers, great creators, can help us to articulate the feelings, ideas and emotions that we have inside. Verbalising these things all helps to describe the human condition. When dealing with social issues and challenges, it is never enough to simply fix the symptoms. We must look to the root causes and solve at the foundational level, no matter how painful it may be. No one is immune to the hardships of life. Even leaders find some days tougher than others. Never be afraid to show that you're human. There is an innate strength in vulnerability. BEST MOMENTS 'I love to make people laugh and be happy. I was an entertainer from a very young age' 'It's all about decolonizing your mind' 'This organization really helped us to empower communities of color to really change the conditions in their lives' 'Vulnerability is the start of everything' VALUABLE RESOURCES Reems California - https://linktr.ee/reemscalifornia Reems California Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/reemscalifornia/?hl=en Reem Assil Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/reem.assil/?hl=en ABOUT THE HOST Zoe Adjonyoh is a writer, chef, and food justice activist from South-East London on a mission to bring African food to the masses. Zoe speaks with Kimberly Renee (@itskimberlyrenee), a self-taught private chef and the founder of Might Be Vegan and the award-winning national COVID-19 hunger relief program Food Love. They dive into Kimberly's childhood activism, food relief work, calling out big brands, and access. KEY TAKEAWAYS True happiness comes from helping others, ensuring that they are taken care of, making sure their voices are heard and their needs are met. Entrepreneurs are those who wish to take the power back in their days. They wish to wake up and be in control of their own destinies. Each day is a path they travel on their own terms. Cancelling a brand or company never helps us to solve a problem. It only creates bitterness. It is far better to point out when people do things wrong, so that lessons can be learned and progress can be made. We must seek to highlight people who are doing meaningful things in the food space. We need to inspire others to be able to do the same. BEST MOMENTS 'I need creativity to be happy' 'I don't want anybody else to tell me "No, you can't do that". The sounds and vibrancy of lagos pepper this recording as the background - please patiently stay for what is an illuminating conversation with the gifted artist, poet and cook KEY TAKEAWAYS Even from the roughest of beginnings, great stories can emerge. Tunde is an example of a man who was able to see the light and beauty, even in the darkest moments of his childhood. We grow by opening our minds to new experiences. We take these experiences, and by applying focus, can develop and blossom. We cannot hope to control every failure. Some are insurmountable and leave scars, but no one is without imperfections. Sometimes these imperfections make us stronger. Systems become redundant once we realise that they are not made up of rich and poor, but people, and the common thread the link us - joy, love, heartache, pain and enlightenment - are universal across any class system we may recognise. BEST MOMENTS 'I was the kid who would correct adults if they spoke improperly or incorrectly' 'I love it when a story starts with failure' 'I do not want to turn experiences into consumable moments or products' 'I think the word "activism" relegates the truth to the fringe' VALUABLE RESOURCES From Lagos - http://www.fromlagos.com Tunde Wey Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/from_lagos/?hl=en ABOUT THE HOST Zoe Adjonyoh is a writer, chef, and food justice activist from South-East London on a mission to bring African food to the masses. Neville's is a story that began with overcoming personal limitations, and in this episode, he talks about how he fought against society's expectations of him in order to reach the heights of business and success. KEY TAKEAWAYS Very often, those with limitations, such as dyslexia, are seen as broken or inferior. Teachers who call children “stupid” often find that their opinions are endorsed by other children, and so perpetuates the cycle of inferiority. Those who are held down in any way often have the advantage of wanting to prove negative opinions wrong. They fight harder! Success is a matter of mindset. This week, Taylor embarks upon an adventure in the company of writer, Dan McCrory, about his journey through life in the company of words - the power of words themselves, and their impact upon life and history, how technology and automation are causing a rapid evolution in the world as we know it, and the impact of the class system and the way it is shifting across the planet. KEY TAKEAWAYS We as humans, and fellow travellers through life, find ourselves connected not by the outward filters that society puts upon us, but the deeper-rooted beliefs and values we hold dear internally. We have developed automation as a tool to make life easier for ourselves, but it has not necessarily been a good thing for society. It has meant the reduction of certain job sectors and skills that in many ways, improved the lives of others. There seems to be a race to the bottom when it comes to countries trying to establish industries. Instead, the better solution would be for specific industries to lock to specific countries. We expect the next generation of the world to evolve in terms of clarity and mental skills, and yet our governments do not seem to wish to invest the necessary funding in securing that future. BEST MOMENTS 'I find myself really moving towards the things that connect us - the things we do find quite magically sometimes' 'I realised just how much of what I went through is still relevant to the next generation' 'Technology is going to change the basic conversation' 'There's a vanishing middle-class in the US and UK, but there's also a burgeoning, growing one in places like China' 'There is an inequity in what a school in the inner city will give as far as funds, as opposed to a school in the suburbs, and we need to even that out' 'People are hoarders and that's a very natural human trait. On today's episode, we're excited to be chatting to David Lewis from David Lewis Consultancy. David has had a long and varied career in the industry, specifically through WAM organisations, brokers, insurers and even captive insurers. He's talking to us about his experience, his expertise and what he's learned whilst working with different size companies and organisations.   LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Most learnt behaviours have come from regional entities rather than larger organisations and that's rather revolutionary. There is such hierarchy that you have to navigate through to get things done in big organisations that it can be quite frustrating. Process often gets lost in hierarchical decisions and that's the refreshing thing about working with smaller to medium sized brokers. The difficulty when implementing changes in any organisation is the cultural attitude. Outsourcing can be incredibly valuable and it's naïve for companies to think they have all the necessary skill sets at all times.   BEST MOMENTS: ‘'I very quickly realised that the power in the insurer broker relationship sat very much with the broker. They decided whether they were going to use my services or the services of North Union. I wanted to move into broking and talking to clients more naturally and be a bit more in control of my own destiny.''   ‘'Although you would point at the big boys and say, well, they have the resources and they have the expertise, the breadth and depth of expertise, and the global reach and all that type of stuff - I'm not really sure at client level the majority of clients actually see the value for that.''   ‘'…if you look at prospecting or even renewal business, it's so common for client executives to focus on the renewal, focus on all the issues around renewal and then they realise they're in the competition.''   ‘'The mistake you don't want to make as a business is to bring in an outsourced supplier so you can simply say you can tick the box that we provided this service or this training or this advice, and then expect things to change because they absolutely won't.''   RESOURCES: David Lewis' profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-lewis-0b8531101/   ABOUT THE GUEST David Lewis is the Director of David Lewis Consultancy. David is a senior executive with wide-ranging experience in leading national and international business teams, founded on the delivery of high-level performance, innovation and dynamic process change. In this week's show, Taylor talks to husband, father, motivational speaker, cancer survivor and fellow podcast host, Réal Andrews, host and producer of Getting Real With Réal. Réal talks about the connective power of listening, how we can empower others through empowering ourselves, and the power of steeping outside of your comfort zone. KEY TAKEAWAYS Our jobs do not define who we are. Far too often, we see people through the filter of the role they perform, or the career they choose, but we must see the human first. People are, and always have been, more insular than we like to admit. This is why listening is so important a sense to embrace. It allows us to reconnect with humanity without having to be present in other ways. So many of us have things we deal with in private, but are left lost by the influence of social media, which encourages perfection without flaws. We need to surround ourselves with people who can raise us up and show us the beauty of life. We need to be made to feel as though we mater by others, and to pay this feeling forward to others in need. BEST MOMENTS 'I always come from a place of love' 'It's reconnecting us through one of our senses' 'I'm really about service. I've had an incredible life' 'It's the saddest thing in the world, to go through your entire life thinking you don't matter' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Adventures Of Self ABOUT THE GUEST Réal Andrews has gone from broke mind, body and spirit (living paycheck to paycheck) to a 7-figure income earner. This week, Taylor chats with inspirational coach, Dan Warburton, the author of best-seller, 'Dream It, Choose It, Live It', about the ways in which we can embrace life's mission, ensure that we are travelling along the correct path, and ultimately live the dream. KEY TAKEAWAYS Sometimes we spend so long looking for the missing component in our lives, but fail to recognise that it is ourselves that we're not happy with. Success is a matter of belief. If you think you can't you will prove that to yourself. If you think you can, the opportunities will seem more obvious. It is up to us to be responsible for our path. It is us to us to transform when it is needed. No one ever achieved greatness by relaxing and apportioning blame. Transformation begins on an internal level, but cannot truly be at its most effective until we externalise it and take it out into the world. BEST MOMENTS 'I realised that I am responsible for everything in my life' 'Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right' 'Ultimate responsibility is ultimate power' 'This enables us to achieve things that are simply miraculous to what we've known ourselves to be able to do before' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Adventures Of Self Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.adventures.of.self/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The.Adventures.of.Self ABOUT THE GUEST Dan Warburton has now coached over 1,000 entrepreneurs and is known for enabling entrepreneurs to break through their limitations and be able to access a totally new and inspirational future often after having only one coaching conversation with him. On today's episode, we're excited to be speaking to Mike Keating, CEO of Managing General Agents' Association (MGAA). Mike has been in the industry for a number of years, in various different roles and is here with us today to talk about the Lloyds market, the future of Lloyds and where 2021 might take our industry.   LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The pandemic and lockdown has meant that MGA's have proved their worth in terms of their ability to be nimble and show innovation. The insurance industry can expect a market reset in that the dynamics of how corporate firms work will not go back to the way it was. Research data found that between 2019-2020, the company market was seen as a preferential market to go to compared to Lloyds. The digital system market is competitive in itself and brings all types of challenges for businesses.   BEST MOMENTS: ‘'I think brokers also have that great adaptability and nimbleness. Some of the larger brokers have bigger challenges, because they're very close to being corporate operations. But they adapted…''   ‘'…Given that we have honest, tangible feedback, it's clear that a project such as this, alongside the other work streams which links a future of Lloyds and continues to make it extremely attractive for both capacity and for Lloyds stakeholders, it's right that these projects are in place.''   ‘'…it's shouting from rooftops, this needs to happen, the cost needs to come down, we need to remove this acquisition cost and the frictional costs in order for us to remain competitive and also to provide even more value to our customers.''   ‘'The first thing which the whole market does effectively is it tests and challenges all relationships. It will challenge a brokers' relationship with their capacity or their insurance in terms of the strength of that relationship, the transparency, the collaboration and effectively shine a very, very bright light on the underwriting performance of that brokers account with insurance.''   RESOURCES: MGAA's website: https://www.mgaa.co.uk/ Mike's Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-keating-230b8424/ Project DARE Link: https://6point6.co.uk/insights/lloyds-market-association/   ABOUT THE GUEST Mike Keating is the CEO of Managing General Agents' Association (MGAA). On today's episode, we're tripling up! We are really excited to be chatting to Rob Thacker and Alistair Body. Both joining us from Momentum, Alistair is the Business Development Director and Rob is the CEO of Pozitive Insurance Solutions - a Momentum broker. Both joining us to talk all things pandemic, industry changes and to give us a little more information on what Momentum is, does and how it can benefit the industry as a whole.   LEARNING OBJECTIVES: When COVID hit, the industry came to a bit of a halt. Now, it's quite exciting because the industry is beginning to develop. We should focus on teaching customers that they have options. It's important that we encourage that kind of balanced perspective. In a time of change, people are embracing this – and that provides an opportunity for new business. The pandemic has put a fast forward on the changes that were already developing within the industry. It's become evident that there is a pressing need to provide businesses with quality advice. Networking and networking events are an important part of a wider marketing strategy for any business.   BEST MOMENTS: ‘'I think even before COVID, there's been a sort of fundamental shift to people looking at the opportunity of self-employment and thinking to themselves, you know what, I can probably do this myself and have been gaining a little bit more confidence and gaining some momentum and that sort of frame of mind.''   ‘'…I think that's the mistake people sometimes make. If they've been an insurance broker for many years (i.e. more market facing than customer and business environment facing) then they're gonna struggle.''   ‘'…with the momentum community, it's bringing together a whole range of opinions, thoughts, career histories, decision making mistakes, lessons learned from a whole range of people within the industry, which is designed to be a kind of a support and development resource for insurance brokers, because of the wealth of knowledge that sits within the industry as a whole.''   ‘'The one thing which has become clearer and clearer over this period of time is the need to provide businesses with quality advice, being able to tell them what is and what isn't covered, and to give him some very tough messages at times, but clear messages in regards to how they can either deal with the lack of cover will be I didn't respond, and or make sure the business is resilient, and they manage the risks that are brand new to them.''   RESOURCES: Momentum website: https://momentumsolutions.co.uk/ Rob's Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-thacker-a1358711/ Alistair's Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alistair-body/   ABOUT THE GUESTS Rob Thacker Rob is an appointed representative of Momentum. On today's episode, we're speaking to Alastair Roberts. Alastair is the Director of Alastair James Insurance Brokers and is talking with us today about those brave enough to be thinking about ‘going it alone'. Alastair has his own story to tell and will be sharing with us his great advice and tips which he was able to take from his own journey when he set up his business a few years ago.   LEARNING OBJECTIVES: A piece of advice Alastair wishes he could give himself if he knew then what he knew now would be to understand that you've got to work hard for it – no-one is going to hand you anything on a plate. Marketing is a massive area to explore in business so it's important to have a plan whilst continuously learning especially when it comes to attracting new clients. Every year, Alastair focuses on his figures so he can ascertain where business has come from and where he should focus his efforts to either continue or improve. He also sets himself monthly targets and objectives. Reviewing your business plan frequently is important because the markets are forever changing and with unpredicted happenings such as COVID, it's good to be aware and adaptable. Alastair's top three tips are: stay positive, have faith in yourself and don't be afraid of trying something different.   BEST MOMENTS: ‘'I think that it's a real motivation for you, because it's quite scary, really. So that's a real big motivation to know that you've got no leads and you know, it's down to you to bring the business in.'' ‘'I was always confident that we were speaking to clients and that I was giving them good information and I was giving a good service, but when you set up as your own and you set up your own business, you're not just an account executive, you have to do your marketing, you have to do accounts, chasing premiums, admin and everything else. I think that's probably the thing that's been the biggest eye opener I would say in terms of doing what I'm doing.'' ‘'I'd say especially in our industry, at the end of the day, people are always going to need insurance. It's not like an industry where perhaps like retail for example, where the high street shops are seem to be closing all the time…'' ‘'…sometimes you can get so bogged down and focus on your work that it does help to chat to somebody, whether it's a partner, or somebody might know in business and just bounce a few ideas of each other.''   RESOURCES: Alastair James' website: https://www.ajamesinsurance.co.uk/ Alastair's Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alastairjamesroberts/   ABOUT THE GUEST Alastair established his business after nearly 20 years' experience in the insurance industry, in both the Commercial and Private Clients sector. Alastair's experience has seen him underwrite and place insurance for risks ranging from unique Grade I listed properties to high value property and motor vehicle collections, including for a number of high profile sports and entertainment individuals which many companies are unable to accommodate. Alastair is equally experienced in placing and underwriting complex commercial risks ranging from professional liability insurance for one of the UK's biggest urban redevelopment real estate developers to property insurance for individuals with large property portfolios.   ABOUT THE HOST Sarah Myerscough is the Sales and Marketing Director of Boston Tullis Group. On today's episode, we're chatting to Martyn Grime of Park Lodge Business Consultancy. Martyn has over 40 year's experience in the insurance industry and we're extremely lucky to have him as part of the Boston Tullis network. Martyn specialises in renewal processes and new business strategies, planning and forecasting to increase income.   LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Renewal processes should be viewed as a great opportunity for a broker to renew on the best terms with their client but also to achieve the best result for the client. Taking the time to reassess a client's position at renewal is key to identifying vulnerabilities. A client centric approach should be taken and is important in times like these. Now is the time to be focusing on your existing client base rather than chasing new business when the economy isn't in a great place. The RAG renewal process represents a red, amber and green approach to handling client renewals and pipeline. By engaging more with your clients, it enhances the knowledge of the broker and promotes a better understanding of the clients' needs. The focus should be good financial performance but also providing the best advice and service.   BEST MOMENTS: ‘'I also think from the outset, it gives you an opportunity to explore upsells and cross sells. With so many examples of brokers achieving their targets and with very little new business, just by actually effectively increasing the renewal retention rate and the premium of new business and giving the most appropriate advice to the client, it's helping the brokers own numbers.'' ‘'…it's naive to expect new business to be plentiful. While there are opportunities inevitably, the economy's not in a great place. There is a lot of nervousness, a lot of businesses are actually retrenching rather than moving forward, so it makes sense to me to focus on your existing client base.'' ‘'Every broker has got their own DNA, and they're taught the language of certain trades and sectors and they're good at it. I've always believed you should focus on that and work within those sectors where you've obviously got the ability to engage and you talk their language, rather than going into something thats completely left field and that is unknown to you.'' ‘'All brokers are individual and bespoke but the process we've developed is capable of being adapted and adopted in any broking environment.''   RESOURCES: Martyn Grime's Linkedin: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/martyn-grime-fcii-61a6ab8   ABOUT THE HOST Sarah Myerscough is the Sales and Marketing Director of Boston Tullis Group. Finance: Make Instant, Positive Changes By Knowing How It Works

Finance is a part of the business so often ignored by entrepreneurs and business owners, and yet it's an area that can make a huge difference in terms of success and revenue. This week, Shaz shares a few financial strategies that will give a boost to any company, and a few home truths that will stop financial decay in its tracks.   KEY TAKEAWAYS   Pricing is the single biggest issue with the biggest impact on your bottom line. Most people look at their competition and charge less than them. Cutting prices can suggest that you're adding less value.   The other mistake made is when companies look for the median price at which to sell their services or goods. Customers don't study price lists of companies and go for the middle ground.   Competitive revenge comes about when someone leaves a company and decides to become a competitor. They do this by taking a handful of clients, but in general, they don't destroy the company they're trying to attack. Price is not everything.   If you think your clients want “cheap”, then you need to bear two things in mind: Don't moan about them being cheap, because you're the one who attracted cheap clients in the first place If your clients truly want cheap, then does that extend to everything else in their lives? Is their food and clothing the cheapest it can be?   Be conscious of your behaviour around spending. Instead of worrying about things to spend on, why not think about how to bring more money in, or how to make your current clients happier. Focus on earning it, first and foremost.   Have multiple income streams. Make sure you have a way to mitigate any unforeseen circumstances, and allow yourself some wiggle-room if a client decides to go elsewhere, or makes a problem which could affect your cash-flow.   BEST MOMENTS   'I don't do finance. I don't do accounts. Numbers go over my head'   ‘You're saying to the marketplace that you're adding less value'   ‘Price is a factor, but it's not the factor'   ‘First earn, then spend'   ‘A sale is made when you have the money in your bank account'   ABOUT THE HOST   Shaz Nawaz is a serial entrepreneur; he owns five thriving businesses in diverse sectors.   Shaz is committed to helping business owners build successful businesses. Having conducted over 3,000 business growth consultation he has helped his clients generate millions in additional profits. This week, Colin meets Christian Harris, the founder of Slip Safety Services, experts in slip testing and anti-slip treatments.   Colin and Christian talk about everything from slips and trips to flooring conditions and staircases, in an insightful, informative conversation that everyone will find incredibly useful.   KEY TAKEAWAYS  Slip Safety are a floor maintenance company with two key specialist areas:   Cleanliness and hygiene in hard to clean areas. such as kitchens and poolsides.   Prevention of slips, trips and falls, particularly in environments where floors are likely to get wet.     It was important for Christian to use his time and career to focus on something that would make a positive difference to the world. Christian takes huge pride in helping people to solve problems.     When your heel touches the floor, if there is sufficient friction between the two, then you will not slip. The pendulum test mimics this in a scientific way, and tells how slip-resistant the floor's surface is.     Floors and their surfaces wear and change over time. Cleaning regimes can have a huge impact. Some of the chemicals we use today were not taken into account when certain floors were made.      30% of care home residents fall in any given year. Of those who fall, 75% are likely to fall again. Older people are far more susceptible to serious injury.     Lighting is critical. We need to make sure that walkways are illuminated not just for obstacles or spillages, but also so that we can visually appraise the surface of the floor.     People are more likely to register an injury claim in private sector places. Christian puts this down to the sense that people seem to have, that there is more money in privately owned places, than publicly owned ones.      There is a direct correlation between clean, hygienic premises and customer satisfaction, and therefore sales. Studies show that clean places often report increases in sales of around 20%. In leisure this is heightened.  BEST MOMENTS  'I spend too much time on my hands and knees in toilets!'   ‘Environment is something that people often neglect'   'Things like single steps are a big issue'   'There's a correlation between cleanliness and customer satisfaction'   ‘It's not expensive stuff. It just requires a bit more thought'   VALUABLE RESOURCES  The Interesting Health And Safety Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/training-competency-creating-effective-plan-process/id1467771449?i=1000452692837    Slip Safety - https://slipsafety.co.uk   Christian Harris LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-harris-slip-safety/?originalSubdomain=uk   ABOUT THE HOST  Colin Nottage   ‘Making health and safety as important as everything else we do.'   This is the belief that Colin is passionate about and through his consultancy Influential Management Group (IMG) is able to spread into industry. He helps business leaders establish and achieve their health and safety ambitions.   He has developed a number of leading competency improvement programmes that are delivered across industry and his strengths are his ability to take a practical approach to problem-solving and being able to liaise at all levels within an organisation.  Colin also runs a company that vets contractors online and a network that develops and support H&S consultancies to become better businesses.  Colin chairs the Construction Dust Partnership, an industry collaboration directly involving many organisations, including the Health and Safety Executive.  He is a Post Graduate Tutor at Strathclyde University and a highly sought-after health and safety speaker and trainer.
