This finale, we think, is one of those episodes where if you squint just right, it's full of holes, and if you shift your perspective just a little, it's delightful! It's great to revisit The Walking Dead. We're really having a blast with it. Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad, returns to sci-fi with Apple TV+'s Pluribus, starring Rhea Seehorn as Carol—a woman navigating a dystopian shift where a mysterious force enforces unnatural happiness amid societal collapse. Premiering November 7, 2025, with two episodes, this nine-episode thriller unfolds weekly through December 26, blending tense drama and psychological horror.Analytic Dreamz breaks down the trailer's chilling visuals: smiling strangers offering relentless aid, desert landscapes echoing Gilligan's signature style, and hints of a hive-mind epidemic turning joy into terror. Explore Carol's isolation as the only one untouched, her desperate search for truth, and the series' exploration of unity's dark side—drawing from "e pluribus unum" but twisted into collective bliss. With co-stars like Karolina Wydra and guest appearances by Miriam Shor, Pluribus promises Gilligan's abrupt world-altering twists without crime or meth.Analytic Dreamz analyzes plot teases, character arcs, and thematic depth, questioning if enforced positivity masks deeper control.

Prepare for a fun revisit as we list our favorite moments on the hit TNT TV series franchise: THE CLOSER and its follow-up MAJOR CRIMES. Guest Lila Morrill, who's a civilian working for the police dept., gets to rate the accuracy as well. How many brutal bomb defusings, intense shoot-outs, blunt interrogations & welcome office humor make this a cut above most procedurals? How many STAR TREK & BREAKING BAD actors were on this HOMICIDE/BONES type show? All that and why both actors Raymond Cruz & J.K. Simmons are national treasures!
Jeffrey Eisenberg and I were looking though a pair of antique doors at Austin Auction Gallery when I saw a remarkable oil painting on the wall behind them and whispered in wonder, “Ozymandias.”The auction catalog described the painting as, “Arabian horse and handler with Egyptian sphinx, signed lower right Maksymilian Novak-Zemplinski (Polish, b.1974), dated 2000.”But I knew that painting for what it was. I've loved “Ozymandias” since the 9th grade. You remember it, don't you? Bryan Cranston read that famous poem in the final episode of “Breaking Bad.” The title of the episode was “Ozymandias,” and TV Guide picked it as “the best television episode of the 21st century.” It was also the only episode of a TV show ever to achieve a perfect 10-out-of-10 rating on IMDb with over 200,000 votes, putting it at the number one spot for the most highly rated television episode ever:I met a traveller from an antique land,Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stoneStand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,Tell that its sculptor well those passions readWhich yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;And on the pedestal, these words appear:“My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!”Nothing beside remains. Round the decayOf that colossal Wreck, boundless and bareThe lone and level sands stretch far away. When I returned home from the auction, I spent a delightful 90 minutes tracking down all the bits and pieces of how that poem came to exist. It was in 1817 that Percy Bysshe Shelley and his poet friend, Horace Smith read the news that the carved head of Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II had been removed from its tomb at Thebes by an Italian adventurer and that it would soon be traveling to Britain.Shelly suggested to Smith that each of them should write a poem about it and title each of their poems “Ozymandias,” the Greek name for Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II.Look at the poem as it appeared in newspaper on that day in 1818, and you will see that Percy Bysshe Shelley signed it, “Glirastes.” He did it as an inside joke intended only for his wife, Mary Shelley, who, incidentally, published her famous novel “Frankenstein” that same year.Mary often signed her letters to Percy as “your affectionate dormouse.” So Percy combined “Gliridae” (Latin for dormouse) with “Erastes” (Greek for lover) to create “Glirastes,” (meaning “lover of dormice.”)So now you know how Google's second-most-often-searched poem came to be published without anyone in London suspecting that it had been written on a bet with a friend by one of the most famous poets on earth who chose to sign it with a pseudonym as an inside joke to his wife.Did you know that I became an ad writer only because it was impossible to support myself as a poet? Now that you know that, you will not be surprised that Indy Beagle has collected Google's Top 20 Poems for you to read in the rabbit hole. Indy also found the Horace Smith version of Ozymandias, and added it at the end of the Google's Top 20 list.To enter the rabbit hole, all you have to do is click the image that appears at the top of today's Monday Morning Memo. You'll find this memo archived as “Looking Though Antique Doors,” the Monday Morning Memo for October 20th, 2025.This is the Google Top 20 List:“The Road Not...
After discussing Lara Croft to death last episode, this time we felt the Need for Speed as we start the engines on our episode covering this largely forgotten car movie. We shifted gears this week to Need for Speed (2014) which is a video game adaptation focused on illegal street racing and other related and non-related crimes. We spend a chunk of time analysing some of the strange casting choices, from lead Aaron Paul failing to ignite the screen with Imogen Poots, to the baffling inclusion of a disheveled Michael Keaton playing an anonymous radio commentator. We will, inevitably, unpack the horrifying behaviour of Rami Malek's character, Finn, and try to remember Dakota Johnson's entirely forgettable character. What to expect from this week's episode: We analyse whether Aaron Paul's career ever truly raced past Breaking Bad. Sarah details her notes on the sheer number of consequential off-screen deaths and subsequent crimes the characters commit. We praise the commitment to practical effects and compare the action movies car chases to classics like Bullitt and Vanishing Point. We examine why the police were not remotely concerned about shutting down Monarch's illegal street racing operation. We spend a necessary amount of time questioning Benny (Kid Cudi) and his physics-defying, time-traveling plane. We discuss how the film could have been improved by trimming the fat (specifically two superfluous characters). We crown our newest winner of the Jason Statham King of Turds Award. Passamos pra segunda fase e estamos quase lá! 20th century movies and TV shows were dominated by the traditional “hero.” With high morals and an ethical code of honour. The 21st century has a different take.Today, we cheer the anti-hero. Like the Sopranos, Dexter and Breaking Bad. Anti-heroes are liberated from that line in the sand that holds the rest of us back. They do things we are afraid to do. And do it unapologetically. And if advertising is the great mirror to pop culture, it just may explain the emergence of anti-hero brands – who dare you to like them. Hosted on Acast. This is episode with the talking toilet. The singular most important character in all of the Breaking Bad-a-verse.
Our Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul group chat discussion concludes with a focus on who was the truly big bad of all time on that TV saga. Is Gus the only actual criminal with a code of honor? Is Saul Goodman better at vanishing than D.B. Cooper? Who doesn't want to kill Todd the minute you see him? Does Laura Fraser's Lydia character steal every season that she's on? How well do they characterize the various henchmen? All that and why you should unfriend anyone who finds Walter White relatable! Hanna Twitter/ X: https://twitter.com/HannaHuge Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/mediawhore.bsky.social Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mediawhore BjarneBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/bjarnebock.bsky.socialSankt Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/0ztNeRqXyxw8Z5Q Hosted on Acast. We continue our Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul discussion by listing the best moments which sum up the plot arcs, ironies and downhill destruction of the various villain protagonists (who think of course they're misunderstood but aren't actually). Some of my guests even give their take on the Iowa and Omaha drug trade that mirrors some of the events in this show. How many amusing pop culture and scifi references do they sneak onto that show? How many moments have become internet memes? Join us for the zany shenanigans won't you? Matt Jones (Breaking Bad, Mom) joins us this week to share how growing up in a tumultuous household shaped him into a devoted family man who prioritizes his family over fame. Matt talks candidly about the dichotomy between who he prides himself to be versus the offbeat, aloof characters he gets typecast as. We also talk about the anxiety he experienced at the height of Breaking Bad, our thoughts on the current state of the entertainment industry, and the powerful work he's done through therapy to heal his past. Thank you to our sponsors:
A four-time Emmy winner for his legendary role as Walter White in Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston's made a massive mark on Hollywood. In this conversation from December 2020, Cranston talks to Willie Geist about starring in Showtime's Your Honor and reuniting with Aaron Paul to launch Dos Hombres Mezcal. He also reflects on the enduring legacy of Breaking Bad and why he's often drawn to morally complex characters.

Chris Distefano and Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad 3/24The final year of my radio journey holds a special place in my heart, made even more poignant by the loss of my cherished friends, Carl Ruiz and Vic Henley. Reflecting on that time, I rediscovered the pure passion and exhilaration that drew me to radio in the first place. Amidst the chaos and challenges, we found endless moments of hilarity and camaraderie. Alongside Carl, Vic, and Sherrod Small, we shared unforgettable experiences both on and off the airwaves, our tight-knit bond shining through every episode. That year also marked Carl Ruiz's meteoric rise to stardom, inspiring me to launch the Opie Radio podcast with him. I'm immensely grateful to Erock, Clubsoda Kenny, Paul, and Louis for joining us on this wild ride. Get ready to dive into the rollercoaster of emotions—the highs, the lows, and the laugh-out-loud moments—that defined my last year in radio.
