Built from the ground up by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, Resilient Lady is a mid-size ship weighing 110,000 gross tons like her sister ships in the fleet: Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady.Built in the Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Resilient Lady marks the brand's third completed vessel in the span of just two years, a notable accomplishment for any brand, and an even taller task for a new company that launched just last year. On May 14, 2023, Resilient Lady will embark on her MerMaiden voyage around the Greek Isles, making stops in Santorini, Rhodes, Bodrum and Mykonos before returning to her homeport in Piraeus, Athens. The ship will sail two, eight-night itineraries including the “Greek Island Glow” with the aforementioned route, and the “Adriatic Sea and Greek Gems,” complete with calls in the beautiful cities of Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Corfu. After her inaugural season in the Med, Resilient Lady will embark on a 44-night repositioning voyage, heading Down Under for a winter season in Australia and New Zealand. Starting Oct. 22, 2023, the ship will depart Athens before stopping in some of the most exotic locales the brand has yet to introduce including Cairo, Dubai, Bali, Mumbai, Phuket and Singapore. She'll finally arrive in Sydney on Dec. 4, 2023 for a series of celebrations, media sneak peeks and more.In addition to her sleek cabin interiors, Resilient Lady will feature the brand's six, Michelin-inspired restaurants, 20+ eateries, a curated line-up of live entertainment, design-forward bars, oceanside hangout retreats and incredible service. Perfectly integrating into a unique experience on the ocean, Virgin Voyages has developed a one-of-a-kind vacation being recognized by Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveller and US News & World Report. Most recently, the line received three industry awards from Cruise Critic including the award for best dining, and received its most coveted award for Best New Ship in 2021 for Scarlet Lady.MSC welcomes 21st ship to the fleet! On the evening of 7 December, the world's third largest and fastest growing cruise brand MSC Cruises welcomed MSC Seascape to its fleet of innovative ships. The line's newest flagship was officially named at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City in recognition of the addition of New York as a new homeport in April 2023. The event was attended by more than 3,000 guests including VIPs, key travel partners and media as well as top management from the entire Cruise Division of the company and its parent MSC Group. One of the highlights of the traditional maritime ceremony was a stunning performance from international singer-songwriter Matteo Bocelli, hot off the heels of his performance at the naming ceremony of MSC World Europa last month.Godmother of the MSC Cruises fleet and international movie icon Sophia Loren blessed the ship virtually whilst Alexa Aponte-Vago, daughter of MSC Group's founder and executive chairman Gianluigi Aponte, performed the traditional cutting of the ribbon to officially name the ship. Loren shared her good luck wishes for the new ship and commented: “One of the highlights of the past 20 years has been to officiate the christening of MSC Cruises fleet not only because the Apontes have become like family to me but also because MSC has always occupied a special place in my heart. Let me bless the MSC Seascape, her great crew and all her passengers.”Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a gourmet gala dinner and standout performance by international Grammy Award winner singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.MSC Seascape becomes the 21st ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the second ship to be launched in less than one month after MSC World Europa launched in November. She will be closely followed by the line's second LNG-powered vessel MSC Euribia, due to come into service in June 2023.Carnival Celebration debuts expanded youth programmeCarnival Celebration is introducing an expanded youth program including new enrichment activities for children, teens and families, as well as an update to Carnival's popular Dr. Seuss Bookville. It's been a while, but the guys are back and funnier than ever! They start off by talking about how life has been since the last time they've completed a show, while sharing their vacations they've all went on over the last few months. Jeff shares a funny story about his Carnival Cruise, right as ongoing concerns rose regarding the cruise named 'Carnival Freedom' that was docked in May due to flames erupting from the smokestack. Tanner and Matt share their fears of the ocean, while Jeff tries to bring their minds at ease. The world has changed so much since the last the guys' spoke, so they continue by talking about inflation and how gas prices have exceeded $5/gallon as we approach the summer months. Inflation isn't the only issues in the world today, as we continue to see a new mass shooter on the news every week. This past week, a 21-year old by the name of Robert E. Crimo III went to the rooftop of a building and began firing upon individuals at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, approximately 25 miles north of Chicago, killing 7 people and wounding almost 50. Tanner breaks down how everything happened, alongside the negligence of both the parents and law enforcement throughout the past few years. With many people demanding for new gun laws, this recent shooting only amplifies the need for gun reform, or at least further discussion.Outside of the negativity of the world, the guys discuss what's been going on in sports, but more specifically the UFC and its recent UFC 276 Pay Per View event. Tanner and Matt breakdown each of the fights from the card and give their insight into what happened and what's to come. Sean O'Malley's fight ended quickly due to an accidental eye poke, Max Holloway left the octagon with a loss & two badly damaged eyes, and the champion Isreal Adensanya put on yet another boring performance. Was the eye poke blown out of proportion? Could Pedro Munhoz of embellished the eye poke in an attempt to avoid a loss? Is this the last we'll see of Holloway competing for the belt? Is there a new champion in the Featherweight division that's here to stay? After Israel's Undertaker walkout was more talked about than his fight, what's next for the Middleweight Champion? Find out about this, and much more, on episode #37 of The 412 Podcast!

Guests were able to enter the water in small numbers and with tightly managed protocols to share eye to eye encounters with these unique and curious creatures. On day five, the GBR Legacy team assisted Dr Birtles and the Minke Whale Project and experienced a 4-hour encounter with some great passes from a mother and calf, the longest known engagement of a cow and calf with a vessel. This allowed the team to get up close and high-resolution photos and videos to identify the animals as well as collect valuable skin samples for genetic analysis. Every passenger was on deck helping with the data collection over more than 1000 data points, and simply enjoying this spectacle as mum and calf interacted with the vessel and research team.Coral Expeditions and guests onboard contributed a sum of $30,000 in funding from the expedition to go towards the GBR Legacy Living Biobank Project and has developed plans to conduct Citizen Science voyages annually in different regions of the Great Barrier Reef and further afield around Australia including natural events such as the 2022 Coral Spawning on the Great Barrier Reef, a 2023 hybrid Solar Eclipse Voyage in Australia's North West and a turtle Conservation expedition along the length of the GBR in 2024.Stena RoRo has placed orders for the construction of new E-Flexer shipsStena RoRo has ordered two new ships from the Chinese shipyard CMI Jinling (Weihai). TAKE ACTION https://bit.ly/3eQoXMaSea trial completed for hospital ship Global Mercy – Mercy Ships Stena RoRo is leading the project for the construction of the Global Mercy™, the world's largest civilian hospital ship. After several years of construction at the Tianjin Xingang shipyard in northern China, the final test, the official sea trial, has now been completed with good results. The shipyard will present the ship for delivery this summer and the vessel will then sail to Antwerp in Belgium on its maiden voyage, where some members of the crew will board and the medical equipment supplemented. This will be followed by a visit to Rotterdam, and after this the Global Mercy™ will be ready for its first important mission in West Africa.Stena RoRo is building the Global Mercy on behalf of the international charity organization Mercy Ships, which provides free life-changing healthcare to people in some of the world's poorest countries. The project began in 2013 and Stena RoRo is responsible for design, contracting and execution. The construction project is unique in its kind and places major and specific demands on both design and layout, dependent on the special needs that hospital operations entail. On board are operating theatres and hospital wards, and everything needed for both patients and those working on board, including schools and preschools for the children of the volunteers. Sea trialThe sea trial, which the Global Mercy has just completed, means that the ship's systems and functions – such as engine performance and fuel consumption, navigation and radio equipment, maneuverability and safety systems – are tested for several days at sea.The Global Mercy will have six operating theatres, 200 hospital beds, a laboratory, a patient clinic and an eye and dental clinic. In total, she will be able to accommodate 950 people, of which 641 are crew. This summer the Global Mercy will be delivered from the shipyard. The maiden voyage will be to Antwerp in Belgium where some members of the crew will board and the last medical equipment installed, which will take a few months. After that, there will be two weeks in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, where festivities will be held in presenting the ship to sponsors, potential volunteers and other interested parties.Big difference for many peopleThe first mission will be during 2022, when the Global Mercy is expected to call at Dakar in Senegal. There will then be more than six hundred volunteers aboard from all over the world and from a variety of professional categories, who will make it all possible through their contributions of skills and time.More than 93 percent of the population in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to safe surgical care *. The already very fragile medical care systems are at risk of being further degraded by the corona pandemic, and the need for basic but vital care is greater than ever in many poor countries. The Global Mercy will make a big difference for many people in southern and western Africa.Mercy Ships: https://bit.ly/33JfiAmCarnival Cruise Line Provides Update on Possible Restart Plan from Select U.S. HomeportCarnival Cruise Line today notified its guests and travel advisor partners of cancellations for additional sailings as it works toward plans for a possible July restart in the U.S. on select ships.Carnival hopes to begin operating sailings on three ships from Florida and Texas, including Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze from Galveston, and Carnival Horizon from Miami. Further, if Carnival can find a solution to allow cruise ships to visit Alaska, Carnival Miracle will assume some of Carnival Freedom's departures from Seattle. With an output of up to 20 megavolt amperes (MVA), two cruise ships can be supplied with electricity at the same time in Warnemünde at berths P7 and P8. In regular passenger operation AIDAsol needs up to 4.5 megawatts per hour (MWh) of electricity. The use of shore power to supply ships with energy is a decisive step for AIDA Cruises to reduce local emissions to zero during berthing over time, as a cruise ship typically stays in port around 40% of its operating time.Holland America Line's New Rotterdam Successfully Sails Through Sea Trials in ItalyIt was smooth seas and fair winds for Holland America Line's newest ship, Rotterdam, which returned in the evening of May 6 to Fincantieri's Marghera (Venice) shipyard in Italy, after successfully completing two sets of sea trials off the country's Adriatic coast.Rotterdam left Marghera April 25 and performed the preliminary sea trials over two days before going into dry dock at Fincantieri's Trieste shipyard where standard pre-delivery hull maintenance and painting were performed.
