This "The Billion Dreams" episode will blow your mind away!In a world where social interactions are increasingly confined to digital realms, Mr. Bhattacharya is silently doing something in the realm of art and traditional music that is going to change the way the world views community and music. Today on the 17th episode of #TBD we are excited for you to meet a visionary architect of cultural preservation, Mr. Amitava Bhattacharya, the force behind a remarkable initiative shaping a global narrative, Bannabagram – Baul Ashram. Nestled in the serene embrace of East Burdwan District, Bannabagram stands as a testament to the fusion of creativity and nature, fostering an environment where artistic expression thrives through communities. A distinguished graduate from IIT Kharagpur and a Chevening Scholar on Leadership and Excellence from the London School of Economics, Mr. Bhattacharya's journey transcends conventional boundaries. A proud recipient of the ‘Times Now Amazing Indian' Award in 2013 and the ‘TiEGER' Award in 2014, and with a career spanning 33 years, he founded Banglanatak.com, a social enterprise dedicated to inclusive and sustainable development through culture-based approaches.Banglanatak.com pioneers the philosophy of "Making Changes Using Culture as a Tool," working tirelessly for the rights of women, children, and indigenous communities. This unique organization has propelled 270 musicians across Rajasthan, Bihar, and Jharkhand to participate in the preservation of community culture. Engaged in performing arts and handicrafts, Banglanatak.com breathes life into traditional art forms, making them relevant to contemporary times.Remarkably, nearly 1500 women from Bannabagram earn their livelihood through the art of 'Katha Stitch,' with 150-200 women actively involved in this enriching craft within the village. Mr. Bhattacharya's vision echoes the sentiments of Ashish Vidyarthi's father, Sri. Govind Vidyarthi, who dedicated his life to preserving performing arts. Much like Ashish's father, Mr. Bhattacharya ensures the sustainability of artists, providing a source of livelihood while safeguarding our cultural heritage. Hats off to Mr. Bhattacharya for orchestrating the beautiful concept of Baul, breathing life into India's art forms. If you yearn for soulful Baul music, Bannabagram is the place to be.We are blown away by how this village operates and how the community thrives, would love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments below.Spread the word about this commendable work.Share this episode with friends and family who love Indian Culture & Traditional Music.Stay tuned for more engaging conversations with trailblazers who carve unique paths, leaving footprints for others to follow and make a difference in our world.Until next time,Alshukran Bandhu,Alshukran Zindagi.-----Topics: 0:39 Who is Amitava Bhattacharya1:40 What is a Baul & What's its Purpose3:28 Age of Music Collaboration4:01 Influence of International Music in Rabindra Nath Tagore's Music4:17 Uillean pipes - A UNESCO Heritage 4:47 Why the name Banglanatak dot com?5:36 Going beyond West Bengal6:34 The Impact is Mindblowing7:23 Ashish's father Sri. Writing is about listening. Connecting and tuning in. All of this enables the words to come through the body.    “When we only move from the logical mind and we don't move from the body mind and the heart mind, and we don't integrate these different parts of ourselves, then it can feel like it's [writing] taking and not also nourishing us.”    What an incredibly special episode to close the season and the show on. The wisdom and generosity that Toni brings to this episode around the power of language through her embodiment as a listener who listens through writing, poems, and the earth - for the stories that help us remember our power and our magic, is precious and invaluable.   Toni Giselle Stuart works as a poet, performer, creative writing facilitator & healer. Nika Gilauri was Prime Minister of Georgia from 2009 to 2012. He also served as Minister for Energy (2004–2007) and Minister for Finance (2007–2009). Nika's tenure in government was marked by dramatic economic recovery and growth that countries only dream of, whereby his team enacted a series of bold and radical anti-corruption and growth hack tactics. The results were monumental: Georgia's GDP rose from -9.0% when Mr Gilauri was appointed to +8.1% when his term came to an end in 2012. Georgia's budgetary deficit also decreased under his leadership dropping from 9% in 2009 to 3% in 2012. Mr Gilauri also guided reforms in the energy sector, fiscal policy, healthcare, customs, education and other spheres of economic development, and contributed to efforts to improve Georgia's overall business environment. His greatest achievement as Minister of Energy was to transform Georgia from being a country of semi-permanent blackouts into a net exporter of electricity to all its neighbors. After his retirement from government, Gilauri established Reformatics, an advisory firm which has worked with more than 20 governments around the world focusing on reform and economic diversification, including Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia. Reformatics partners with several organizations such as McKinsey & Co., The World Bank Group (WBG), The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), The Asian Development Bank, and The Swedish International Development Agency. Nika has written a book entitled "Practical Economics" (Palgrave Macmillan 2017) which reveals his formulas for government reform and economic recovery, including how to fight corruption, reform tax systems, create a competitive education and healthcare system, and streamline procurement. The entire book "Practical Economics" has been available for free: https://www.google.com/books/edition/Practical_Economics/v3IzDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=practical%20economics&pg=PR2&printsec=frontcover&bsq=practical%20economics Follow Howdy Arabia: Twitter: https://twitter.com/howdyarabia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/howdyarabia Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/howdyarabia Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/49119733/admin/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoxyVIoN8e2FB-MloX7sBHA/videos Thanks to Ollie Guillou for tech support and editing with patience :) He can be reached at: ollie.podcastproduction@gmail.com About the host: Imad Shawa is the founder & CEO of Mlabbas, a print-on-demand apparel & accessories business. A foundational avenue for becoming an empowered woman is through financial independence. For centuries, men have held the societal expectation of earning the family income. This has reinforced women's financial reliance on men and hindered women's advancement in entrepreneurial endeavors. Chai Sabz aims to encourage women’s financial independence by highlighting the achievements and viewpoints of Afghan women entrepreneurs through our new Women's Economic Empowerment series. We are happy to introduce this series with Ms. Tania Aria, an economist and entrepreneur by profession holding a master’s degree in Economics and Finance from University of Southampton, U.K. as a Chevening Scholar. Ms. Aria has worked on women’s economic empowerment, economic growth projects including international trade, export promotion, private sector development and research for over a decade now. She now resides in the U.S. and is the founder of her own jewelry brand, Veezha LLC. In this episode, Ms. Aria discusses how her jewelry brand supports artisans and artists in Afghanistan by using their craftsmanship in the jewelry design. She also shares her thoughts on how Afghans of the diaspora can play a role in fueling the economy in Afghanistan by investing in the country's high potential industries and talent. We close the episode with a brief conversation about methods of encouraging women's economic empowerment within the Afghan diaspora. Happy listening and remember to make that bank!

A bright spot in America's bloated healthcare system. CEO and co-founder Faris Ghawi sat with Imad Shawa back in January at Mlabbas studios on Rainbow street in Amman to explain the quiet revolution that's taking place in Medicare cost cutting and beyond. Faris is heading up a wildly successful American health care company called Vitalyze Health, which makes a fortune by transforming healthcare delivery to senior patients, not by charging their clients, but by sharing the savings their value-based care achieves. Medical costs for most of the 60 million American seniors are paid for by Medicare, a government program. To alleviate some of that burden, the government has been offering private healthcare providers and ACOs like Vytalize a financial incentive to improve outcomes and lower costs. So Faris and his team have taken on that challenge with incredible results. Vytalize Health is projected to be a billion dollar player in healthcare very soon. And what's equally exciting is this alignment of goals & incentives potentially revolutionizing not only healthcare, but also other critical human endeavors as well. As a Chevening Scholar myself I learn from my colleagues how the covid-19 has impacted their studies, how they are coping personally and the situation in their home countries and what this means for their future plans. The figures and scenarios reported within the episodes were based on time of recording as at March 22-23, 2020*
