The crimping in windows, which of course impacted the star's bonus, led to the twice-Oscar-nominated actress suing Disney and settling for a reported $40M+. Adding to the further erosion of box office for any theatrical-day-and-date release on streaming is the fact that these movies are pirated promptly, with clean 4K copies in several languages spread around the world. By the end of August, sources in the know informed us that Black Widow had been pirated more than 20M times. The recent reintroduction of Netflix's Daredevil's Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin in Disney+'s latest Hawkeye series has not only surprised fans, it also brought about the inevitable question – are the current versions seen this year the same ones from the Netflix series from 2015, or are they variants? Thankfully, actor Vincent D'onofrio, who played the infamous Marvel Comics villain across three seasons of the Netflix show, is ready to set the record straight, and appease fans attempting to connect the dots – yes, the Kingpin audiences see in Hawkeye is the same villain from Daredevil. “He obviously has more physical strength and can take a lot more physical abuse but from story point of view, it was discussed that this is after The Blip, that he is the same guy that was in Daredevil, but he's lost some of his power,” explained D'onofrio in an exclusive interview with Geek Culture. “My arc in Hawkeye is that I want my power back, so from an actor's point of view, it's portraying him exactly, with the same kind of emotional feel and foundation that I did in Daredevil.” Fans were teased early on, when his character was referenced in episode 3 of Hawkeye when Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) was told that her uncle would come pick her up after taekwondo lessons. His character was later confirmed in the final moments of episode 5. The confusion stems from the fact that the multiple seasons from the Netflix series of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders were initially identified as part of the MCU, but the characters and storylines were never referenced in the movies, and after the shows were canceled, fans began to speculate that Marvel Studios had no intention of recognising them, until now. D'onofrio portrayed the villain in 27 episodes of Daredevil, and also appeared in The Punisher. The Kingpin's fate was left open ended after the third season of Daredevil was canceled with a cliffhanger. This confirmation from D'onofrio answers many questions fans have been wondering for the last three years – that he lived, and after leaving prison during The Blip when Thanos made half the population in the universe disappear, spent that time rebuilding his empire, and that the Kingpin is the same character across all the MCU shows. The return of Kingpin wasn't only an exciting affair for fans, but also for D'onofrio, who never imagined returning to the character after three years. He certainly didn't expect to start off this year with a phone call from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige either. “Very early in the year, they reached out, Kevin actually. Kevin called me and invited me to do Hawkeye. And you can imagine, I was extremely excited about that,” said D'onofrio. Returning to a different set with the same character also proved to be a stimulating experience for the veteran actor, whose credits include acclaimed turns in Full Metal Jacket, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, especially when it came to reuniting with co-star Vera Farmiga, who played Eleanor Bishop in the series. While he technically only appears in two of the six episodes, D'onofrio has powerful scenes with Maya Lopez and Kazi (Fra Fee), as well as a massive showdown with Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop in the final episode. “Vera, I've worked with before so I know that she's a wonderful actress and so good. I'm always so impressed by her, and then with Hailee, I didn't have a lot of dialogue but that fight scene was very technical and I was really impressed with her work ethic and she just seems like such a powerhouse on set,” he continued. “And then with Alaqua and Fra, the two of them are both amazing actors and actresses. I love to be impressed by young people and I was definitely impressed. You know, it was really quite something, to be around young people with that kind of work ethic and that kind of talent. It inspires me. It was a wonderful thing.” While Hawkeye has now allowed Kingpin to face off with other heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, D'onofrio does have a wish list of which hero he wants to meet face-to-face, and top of his list is everyone's favourite webslinger. “I think because of the history of the comic books when I was a kid – Punisher, Daredevil and Spider-Man. My hope is that someday, I get to face all of them as the character of Kingpin. I think that would be nice.” Although the season finale hints at the ending of Kingpin's story once and for all, D'onofrio doesn't know what's in store for the future but is hoping that it's not actually the end, and that he can continue to play the character till his heart's content. “I don't know. I can only hope that we do it,” smiled D'onofrio. “I think that would be great, and I think we just all have to keep our fingers crossed that it happens.” Oh trust us, our fingers are crossed alright. [22:51] ‘Wandavision' Is The Most Pirated TV-Show of 2021 https://torrentfreak.com/wandavision-is-the-most-pirated-tv-show-of-2021-211225/ ‘Wandavision' is the most-pirated TV show released in 2021 on torrent sites. The popular Disney+ series decrowned 'The Mandalorian' which topped the chart last year. 'Loki,' another Marvel series, is listed in second place and 'The Witcher' completes the top three. At the end of every year, we take a look at the most-downloaded TV episodes among torrenting pirates. For several years in a row the list was headed by Game of Thrones but that reign came to an end last year after the series ended. This changing of the guard coincided with the launch of several Disney+ exclusives, which do particularly well among the pirating public. Last year ‘The Mandalorian' was the most pirated TV series and in 2021 another Disney title tops the list. ‘Wandavision' seamlessly took over the top spot in a list that is dominated by Marvel series. The series was a hit on Disney+ and on pirate sites, with each episode being downloaded millions of times. The competition for the top spot was fierce with four titles clearly standing out among the rest. Disney's “Loki” eventually settled for second place, one spot higher than Netflix's “The Witcher.” ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' settled for the fourth spot but wasn't too far off in popularity compared to the top three. What stands out most is that all Disney+ series of Marvel's “Phase Four” are listed in the top 10. In addition to the titles already mentioned, also included is ‘Hawkeye' in fifth spot and ‘What If…?' in sixth. With the current streaming landscape being so fragmented, it appears that many people prefer to pirate instead of paying for ‘another' subscription. That definitely applies to Marvel fans. Update: Our calculations are based on single episodes which means that season packs are underrepresented which disadvantages series that are released in one go. Based on rough calculations, Netflix's Casa de Papel could taken the 5th spot. Squid Game would have made it into the top 10 as well. We will do our best to reflect this correctly in future lists. It's worth noting that BitTorrent traffic only makes up a small portion of the piracy landscape. Most people use streaming sites and services nowadays, which generally do not report viewing stats. Below we have compiled a list of the most torrented TV shows worldwide and released in 2021 (single episode). The ranking is estimated based on sample data from several sources, including I Know and statistics reported by public BitTorrent trackers. Rank Last Year 1 (…) Wandavision 2 (…) Loki 3 (…) The Witcher 4 (…) The Falcon and the Winter Soldier 5 (…) Hawkeye 6 (…) What If…? 7 (…) Foundation 8 (6) Rick and Morty 9 (…) Arcane 10 (…) Wheel of Time [27:04] Hawkeye Blooper Reel Reveals Deleted Scenes, More Kingpin Footage https://www.cbr.com/hawkeye-blooper-reel-reveals-deleted-scenes-more-kingpin-footage/ (On Disney+) The two-minute-long reel now streaming on Disney+ has a decidedly sitcom-like feel, introducing each of the cast members to the tune of "Sweet Gingerbread Man" sung by Sammy Davis Jr. While there's no audio apart from the song for most of it, there's still plenty of evidence that Hawkeye was just as much fun to shoot as it was for audiences to watch. The clip opens by introducing Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop and shows the pair laughing it up together in a car. The more villainous characters on the show also get their time in the spotlight, with Fra Fee pretending to share a kiss with Tracksuit Mafia thug Aleks Paunovic and Alaqua Cox enjoying her time as Maya Lopez/Echo. Additional footage shows Yelena Belova actor Florence Pugh and Eleanor Bishop actor Vera Farmiga sharing some laughs while filming various scenes for the series. Along with shots of cast members breaking characters and enjoying their time on set, the gag reel includes a handful of deleted scenes centered on Jack (Dalton). One depicts the talented swordsman in what appears to be prison clothes and standing against a metal mesh fence, while another has him brandishing his signature sword in the kitchen, as seen in Episode 6 ("So This Is Christmas?"). The reel also features an over-the-shoulder shot of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin in his white coat sitting in a restaurant. In a coy nod to Marvel's vaunted secrecy, even the gag reel attempts to keep D'Onofrio's arrival on the show a surprise by redacting the actor's name in the title card. Netflix Defenders [30:39] Jessica Henwick on MCU Return As Iron Fist: "Never Say Never" https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/jessica-henwick-marvel-iron-fist-mcu-colleen-wing-return/ Jessica Henwick was offered a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings but she turned it down. The actress took a job with The Matrix Resurrections, instead. Henwick's Matrix gig has her fans cheering for various action beats and story moments as she teams up with returning franchise veteran Keanu Reeves but there is also a large camp of her fans hoping to see more of her in the Iron Fist role. As the story goes, Resurrections was not the only reason Henwick did not join Shang-Chi. The actress is interested in getting another crack at her Colleen Wing character and seems quite open to the idea of becoming the Iron Fist herself. A return for Henwick from her role in the Marvel TV-controlled Iron Fist series for the Marvel Studios-controlled Disney+ shows or movies doesn't seem too unlikely. Vincent D'Onofrio and Charlie Cox were both recently revealed to have reprised their roles as Kingpin and Daredevil, respectively, from their Netflix shows. "He's so good," Henwick said of D'Onofrio. "And yeah, Charlie Cox is out there doing his thing." As for whether or not Henwick will be reprising the role, it seems there is no news on that front yet. When asked if she would be interested in portraying the MCU's Iron Fist, Henwick didn't exactly dismiss the idea. "Look, the way we left Iron Fist, spoiler alert, Colleen has the power and she's in a really good place," Henwick told ComicBook.com. "I would love to revisit her. That character meant a lot to me and really changed my life. And I would love to revisit her one day, but it would really have to be the right place, and the right time, and the right script, but never say never." Henwick portrayed Colleen Wing in Iron Fist, The Defenders, and an episode of Luke Cage. It's not entirely clear just yet if the Marvel stories told on Netflix shows are canon to the main continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which is controlled by Marvel Studios. D'Onofrio tells ComicBook.com that he was instructed to play his Kingpin the same way as he did on Netflix's Daredevil when he appeared in Hawkeye, though there were notable physical differences in the character which might be explained through by the gap in time since he was last since in 2018 before appearing in Hawkeye, which is set in 2024 at the earliest. After being a part of the Matrix franchise, Henwick might even have a few new moves to show off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe should she get the call to return. "[The Matrix Resurrections felt like an amalgamation of all the different bits of training that I'd had over the years with so many amazing coordinators and instructors," Henwick explained. "But really what was new for this time around was the work I had to do with guns. I had almost no real, hardcore weapons experience. And we had an amazing trainer, Rock, who made me feel really safe and tried to encourage me to just feel like it was an extension of the hand, that I was one with it. Because if you look at Keanu, I remember the first time on set with my gun, he just came over and inspected it. And there's an effortless aspect to it that I really wanted to emulate." Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. [35:09] Agents of SHIELD Fans Rally To Save The Show https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/agents-of-shield-save-the-show-fans-rally/ Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans want to save the show and are making their presence felt on Twitter. Seeing the renaissance of older characters being brought into the fold through Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, people have started a hashtag surrounding the ABC series. This is nothing new for the SHIELD fandom who battled for respect in the latter part of its run. However, recent events have to make the fans feel a little better about their prospects. Who among us thought we would see Charlie Cox grave a Marvel production again? Probably, only the most ardent believers. But, here we sit in the year 2022 with dozens of reports about his involvement going forward. It's a wild time to be a fan of comic book movies and shows. So, why not try and get one of your favorites back on the board with a social media push. Chloe Bennet shared her support for the fandom last year as people wondered if they could see her in the MCU as a part of Secret Invasion. "I definitely would," Bennet told Looper of a possible return. "I mean, I have such a soft spot for her. I started shooting the show when I was 20, and then I finished when I was 27. To get this time right now, in isolation, to kind of contemplate the past seven years and how much it's meant to me — it hasn't really hit me yet that the show is over, so it doesn't really feel like I'm done playing her yet." She added, "I think once the last episode airs and the show is really out of my life, I think that will be an interesting feeling. But I can never say never. I mean, Coulson's died like 800 times. I don't think I realized when I first auditioned for the role how much this entire entity, how much this character, how much this universe and how much SHIELD was going to be just a part of me for the rest of my life. I definitely would be open to playing her again. But I have not been asked to, so... But, listen, 'Coulson Lives' started on Twitter, so who knows?" But not all are celebrating: 'Nightmare Alley' found coal in its Christmas stocking. Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home spun a record-breaking web in its box office debut, grossing $260 million from 4,336 theaters to secure the second-biggest domestic opening of all time at the box office despite growing worries over the COVID-19 omicron variant. Monday's final number of $260 million came in ahead of Sunday's estimate of $253 million to supplant Avengers: Infinity War as the No. 2 launch ever, not adjusted for inflation. Overseas — where the new variant is even more of a concern in certain markets, and particularly in Europe — the movie also made history, grossing $340.8 million — likewise an uptick over Sunday's estimate of $334.2 million — for a revised global total of $600.8 million (without China). That's the No. 3 global opening ever, not adjusted for inflation. “This weekend's historic results, from all over the world and in the face of many challenges, reaffirm the unmatched cultural impact that exclusive theatrical films can have when they are made and marketed with vision and resolve,” says Sony Motion Picture Group chair-CEO Tom Rothman, who has remained a huge proponent of an exclusive theatrical release. Spider-Man: No Way Home set numerous other records as moviegoing returned to pre-pandemic levels for the first time in a defining moment for the box office recovery. Hollywood, however, would feel much better if the wealth were being spread around. Even as No Way Home prospered, Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley became the latest adult-skewing title to sorely disappoint, with a fifth-place weekend opening of $3 million despite a well-known director and A-list cast. And Steven Spielberg's West Side Story tumbled a steep 67 percent in its second weekend, furthering the narrative that midrange movies and adult-skewing films are an endangered species theatrically amid the rise of streaming. No Way Home is the first film in the COVID-19 era to zoom past $100 million in its domestic launch (until now, the biggest start was just $90 million). There's more: The tentpole has already grossed more than any pandemic-era release has earned in its entire run domestically, a list topped by Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($224.5 million). The Sony and Marvel movie was buoyed by a coveted A+ CinemaScore, moviegoers ages 18-34 and glowing exit scores, including a “definite recommend” score of 90 percent. (Rivals say the exits are “unreal.”) Spider-Man also attracted an ethnically diverse audience and did huge business in Imax theaters, which turned in $36.2 million globally, the No. 6 showing of all time in terms of Imax weekend openings. Avengers: Endgame leads the list of all-time domestic openings with $357 million, followed by Avengers: Infinity War ($257.6 million), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248 million), Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($220 million) and Jurassic World ($208.8 million), not adjusted for inflation. Internationally, No Way Home is also shattering records despite omicron, which is prompting cinema closures and other restrictions in certain European markets. The movie grossed more than $180 million between Wednesday and Friday alone. No Way Home, reuniting director Jon Watts and star Tom Holland, is from Sony's Columbia Pictures, which controls the film rights to Spider-Man, and Disney's Marvel Studios, home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Watts' film combines three generations of Spider-Man movies and includes previous villain actors Willem Dafoe (2002's Spider-Man), Alfred Molina (2004's Spider-Man 2) and Jamie Foxx (2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2). It also stars Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau and Benedict Wong. Dec. 20, 8:15 a.m. Updated with Monday actuals. Well, in an update on that story, we can tell you that the reshoots are wrapping this week. And we've also learned that part of the reshoots may have been spurred by the new Spider-Man movie and the Disney+ Loki series, both of which deal with the multiverse. It seems like Marvel was jazzed by the many actors crossing paths with each other in No Way Home and the playfulness of having alternate versions of characters appear onscreen in Loki. So they decided to have “more fun with the multiverse,” according to one source, and to include more cameos and character introductions in Doctor Strange 2. Will these cameos become MCU canon? Only time, and maybe Kang the Conqueror, will tell. ***************************** The reshoots for Doctor Strange 2 include even more cameos from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the introduction of new characters as well. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will include more cameos and introduce new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it undergoes reshoots. According to The Hollywood Reporter's "Heat Vision" newsletter, the reshoots for the Doctor Strange sequel will include even more cameos and character introductions than originally intended. While the characters themselves haven't been confirmed, sources report that the film will have "more fun with the multiverse" following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness began "significant" reshoots in November, with Sam Raimi returning to direct the additional material along with writer Michael Waldron, who served as head writer for Marve's Loki Disney+ series. Raimi took over directorial duties from Scott Derrickson, who directed the first film and departed the sequel in September 2020 over creative differences. Star Benedict Cumberbatch, who portrays Dr. Stephen Strange in the MCU, previously stated that the reshoots will only improve the film. "I'm very excited. Sam Raimi's at the helm, so expect extraordinary things," Cumberbatch said. "And we're in the middle of making it even better. We've got some reshoots coming up in November and December." In a separate interview, Cumberbatch stated that the reshoots were largely a result of logistical issues and restrictions caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "We're in the middle of reshoots and we're working incredibly hard to make a schedule work to realize the full potential of the film -- bits that we want to do better but also bits that were just impossible to do on the day because of logistics, COVID, etc," he said. "We were so delayed in production because of that. Luckily, not during production too much. Although everything is just a little slower." As for cameos, a new line of action figures for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness offered a first look at the possible introduction of Rintrah to the MCU, an alien minotaur that appeared in Marvel Comics as one of Doctor Strange's apprentices. It was also confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch, as the events of WandaVision will tie in directly to the sequel. Olsen wrapped filming on her Doctor Strange reshoots in September. Details surrounding the plot of Doctor Strange 2 remain scarce, though the potential for new characters is vast with the MCU's growing multiverse. Actor Xochitl Gomez is set to make her MCU debut in the film as well, as the Young Avenger America Chavez/Miss America. The MCU faithful were primed to expect the arrival of Natasha Romanoff's assassin sister Yelena (Florence Pugh), since Black Widow's post-credits scene outright set up a conflict between her and series lead Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) over her sister's death in Avengers: Endgame. And more recently, the show's audience started theorizing about the identity of a mysterious underworld boss, teased in recent episodes. Episode 5 of Hawkeye, “Ronin,” ends the speculation with a single cell-phone picture, confirming the identity of the boss who seems to be behind the story's main action. British director team Bert & Bertie, who helmed Hawkeye episodes 3, 4, and 5, recently spoke to Polygon about getting the chance to bring that character in. The image of Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka underworld crime lord Kingpin, at the end of “Ronin” has big implications for the MCU going forward, since D'Onofrio played the character in the Netflix series Daredevil. Bertie says she and her directorial partner didn't learn their episodes would be bringing Kingpin back until they were already in production. “That was as exciting to us as it was to the fans, knowing what everyone else would feel,” she says. “It's like, ‘Oh my goodness, these worlds are now able to meld, and there's this extra layer that can come into the the MCU that had previously been separate.'” His brief appearance seems to finally confirm that Netflix's Marvel shows — Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and the crossover miniseries The Defenders — are still canon to the current MCU. (In spite of what Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said in the past.) That suggests Daredevil and Hawkeye take place in the same version of New York City. But Bertie says Marvel Studios didn't tell the directors to look back at the older series for visual inspiration or design consistency. “There was never any kind of requirement or need to meld Daredevil and Hawkeye in any way,” she says. As far as portraying Kingpin goes, Bert says they made their directorial choices around Kingpin's past reputation and presence. “I think you just respect the character, and where the character is in the universe,” she says. “So when Kingpin comes in, he's massive, you know? He's huge. As the story goes, he's later in a more difficult place, but he comes in as his big self, with his big hands. In that picture [at the end of “Ronin”], you see him in his iconic suit. So how to shoot him came from where the character is, rather than us trying to match our universe to anything in the past.” As far as whether the shows are meant to feel similar, Bert says they do have roughly the same aesthetic. “But we deal with the character story more. Rather than dealing with the the universe they come from, they step into ours.” Similarly, the duo didn't look back to Black Widow to see how to frame or design Yelena — they took cues from Pugh instead. “In terms of consistency of character, Florence had a lot to say about what Yelena might wear to her first proper meeting with [Hailee Steinfeld's] Kate Bishop as a human, rather than as an assassin character,” Bertie says. “So there's a thread of character that runs through.” She says that in setting up episode 5's awkward, extended sit-down between Kate and Yelena over macaroni and cheese, they mostly wanted to respect how different the characters are. “Obviously, this incredibly off-the-wall character that Yelena is was super fresh to the MCU,” Bertie says. “That was something we celebrated. We wanted to see how Kate — naive, wide-eyed, super-smart, fierce, badass in her own way, but learning this whole world — and this very dangerous character, come together. In terms of directing, Marvel are brilliant about encouraging directors to be themselves, to set up the kind of shots we needed to tell this weird yet intimate yet funny story, this emotional girls' night between two very kick-ass women, just being normal, and a bit insecure, and all of these things women in their 20s can be.” ‘Raya and the Last Dragon' Leads 2022 Annie Awards Feature Nominations What If…? “Ultron Won” Nominated for Best Editorial, Television and Media https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/annie-awards-raya-and-the-last-dragon-leads-2022-nominations-1235065364/ https://deadline.com/2021/12/annie-awards-nominations-2022-raya-and-the-last-dragon-encanto-luca-flee-1234899864/ Best Editorial – TV/ Media Amphibia Episode: True Colors Walt Disney Television Animation Jennifer Calbi , David Vasquez, Julie Anne Lau, Yoonah Yim, Andrew Sorcini Arlo the Alligator Boy Episode: Broadcast Special, Netflix Presents A Ryan Crego Film Steve Downs Love, Death + Robots Episode: Pop Squad, Blur Studio for Netflix Julian Clarke, Matt Mariska, Valerian Zamel, Brian Swanson, Ky Kenyon Tom and Jerry in New York Episode: Billboard Jumble, Warner Bros. After being teased in the penultimate episode of Season 1, Vincent D'Onofrio finally returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the finale of Hawkeye, and he shared a message with fans to mark the occasion. To celebrate the last episode of Hawkeye's first season, the show's Twitter account shared a number of videos from the stars. D'Onofrio's Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk, was teased at the end of Episode 5, but the sixth episode sees him step out of the shadows and take on the heroes. And D'Onofrio thanked fans for their enthusiasm about his return to the character following the cancellation of Daredevil on Netflix. "Hello, everybody. Welcome to the season finale of Hawkeye. This is a great show. A lot of effort was put into it by Marvel, by the film crews, the producers, the writers, and all the actors," D'Onofrio said in his message. "So, I hope you enjoy it. And thank you for being so patient waiting all this time for my character. I so appreciate the warm welcome. So enjoy yourself. And Merry Christmas." The thread also features messages from Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Fra Fee (Kazi), and Tracksuit Mafia actors Piotr Adamczyk (Tomas) and Carlos Navarro (Enrique), the latter of which sang a "bro"-filled rendition of a Christmas classic. D'Onofrio arrived to great acclaim as Fisk on the first season of Daredevil, adding new layers to the comic book villain. He'd continue to vex Matt Murdock during his show's three-season run, and fans have long been hoping to see the actor and character pop up in a film or new TV show. While the canon status of Marvel Netflix shows is unknown, Kingpin has officially arrived in the modern MCU. Of course, his fate in the finale is left a mystery, with Maya seeming to shoot him offscreen. But as the moment was inspired by a comic that saw Kingpin survive, and given how long fans have waited for the actor's return, it's safe to assume he won't be gone for long. NETFLIX DEFENDERS Jessica Henwick Discusses Colleen Wing's Possible Marvel Future https://www.superherohype.com/movies/509494-jessica-henwick-discusses-colleen-wings-possible-marvel-future It turns out the role she was up for was of Shang-Chi's sister Xialing, which ultimately went to relative unknown Meng'er Zhang. But had she taken such a major role, with clear spinoff potential, it would have definitely meant no more for Iron Fist‘s Colleen Wing. Marvel has double-cast some actors before, like Mahershala Ali and Gemma Chan, but in every instance, one of the characters was either minor or died. And Henwick didn't want Colleen Wing to go that way. “If I did [Shang-Chi], I would effectively be putting Colleen to bed,” she revealed. “It wasn't the main factor, but it definitely came up in conversation. I love Colleen. She changed my life. Of course, if I was given the opportunity to revisit her, I would, but I just don't know how likely that is…I think I would have heard by now if there were any plans with Colleen.” The Marvel shows on Netflix began as canon with the movies, then later became unofficial. However, Marvel Netflix characters coming back as new versions of themselves in the MCU seems to be a new trend. Vincent D'Onofrio just returned as Kingpin, and Kevin Feige recently talked up Charlie Cox's Daredevil. According to Henwick, though, those actors knew for quite a while. “Charlie knew about that opportunity years ago. He already knew it was happening,” she says. We talk about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the things you missed if you don't read the comics. Hear about Razor Fist, Ten Rings, The Mandarin, Dweller-in-Darkness, Death Dealer, and more! Talk with us on Twitter. Links from the discussion… Shang-Chi was raised to become an assassin by his father, Fu Manchu, in the comics. Shang-Chi defected after his first assignment just like in the movie. Razor Fist is a general bad guy that has gone up against many heroes in the Marvel universe including Shang-Chi, Wolverine, Hawkeye, and Colleen Wing. The Ten Rings was invented for the MCU and is a recent addition to the comics. The name is a nod to the Mandarin's rings. The Mandarin is a baddie that is associated with Iron Man in the comics. He doesn't really have anything to do with Shang-Chi. The Dweller-in-Darkness from the Shang-Chi movie is a descendent of Cthulu and first appeared in a Thor comic. Death Dealer was a double agent working at the MI6 while also working for Fu Manchu until the head of MI6 hired Shang-Chi to take him out.

Today we talk about Colleen Wing (who has no superhero name), a martial artist, swordswoman, and private detective who is frequently involved with Misty Knight and the Heroes for Hire. She also leads a small group of the organization The Hand for a while. Media specifically mentioned in today's episode: -Okay, so we did go off on a whole thing about how much Colleen is super white passing, but YES there are a few iterations where she isn't!! Welcome to the place where I get to let my geek flag fly and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is where I look into the world of geekdom and some geek news, comics, The Simpsons, Star Wars, and whatever randomness finds its way onto the recording. A few episodes ago (Level 197), Danny the Deuce and Blue joined me to discuss representation and diversity in superheroes. Well, talking about 21 heroes wasn’t enough so we’re back with 20 more discussing comics as an important medium of representation. We cover a lot of the heroes that matter so much, especially in today’s divided world. Heroes mentioned include Bishop, Isaiah & Elijah Bradley, Heimdall (Idris Elba), Amadeus Cho, Manhattan Guardian, Gangbuster, Jimmy Olson (Supergirl DCW), Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), Xorn, The Question (Renee Montoya), Deathlok, Freddy Freeman, Cassandra Cain, Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Silhouette, Misty Knight & Colleen Wing, Captain America Sam Wilson, Mister Terrific, and more! Enter the Diversiverse with us and we hope you enjoy this as much as we did talking about it. Congrats on completing Level 202 of the podcast! Stay safe, wash your hands, and good luck out there. Tell your friends, geekery is always better with peers. Thank YOU for being a part of this hilarity! There’s a plethora of ways to comment about the show and I look forward to seeing your thoughts, comments, and ideas. In this episode Sabrina says I told you so a lot. Lily processes how surprised she was that Sabrina was right about wishing there was a season 3 of Iron Fist. This episode is all about Iron Fist season 3. We thought we would hate it but wow were we surprised!! Our girl Colleen comes out on top and dammnit Disney why did you cancel all of the Defenders shows? Anyway we still have a lot of negatives, but honestly, this one's an overall more positive outlook on Iron Fist than our Season 1 episode because they just did it better this time around. We also have a cool conversation about Dissociative Identity Disorder because of the new character(s) Mary Walker! For once a character with a mental illness where they're not a serial killer or the bad guy! Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @EMFangirls, @TheSabrinaPet, and @Lily_Rugo. Sad news was released this weekend Luke Cage cancelled by Netflix. We were big fans of season 2 of Luke Cage and we were very saddened to hear that Netflix won't continue to produce the show any more. This coupled with the news that Iron Fist as a solo show will also not continue on Netflix is making us very concerned about the continuation of the creative relationship between Marvel and Netflix. We originally intended for this to be a brief discussion in our news section of our review of Daredevil Season 3 Episode 3, but once it was recorded we realised it would probably be better as a standalone discussion. Most of this discussion is based on the Deadline article which broke the story. You can read the full article here https://deadline.com/2018/10/luke-cage-cancelled-marvel-netflx-mike-colter-cheo-hodari-coker-1202486487/ The main talking points from the Deadline Luke Cage Cancelled article that we discuss in this podcast: Luke Cage show runner for season one and two, Cheo Coker had his writers room for season three in place for about six months. The team had worked with guidance and notes from both Netflix and Marvel as usual for that six months. A final draft was of a thirteen episode treatment was delivered to Netflix last week. At this point they asked for the show to be cut to ten episodes. This seems to have been the final straw for the parties involved and Netflix has made the decision that because of these creative differences they will not be proceeding with Luke Cage as a solo character on Netflix. Luke Cage played by Mike Colter and Danny Rand played by Finn Jones will make appearances in the future but no confirmation of what that means have been provided. This could mean cameos that have already been filmed for the upcoming Netflix shows or it could mean a combined series of Heroes for Hire with Colleen Wing and Misty Knight. We will have to wait and see. Today we’re discussing DAUGHTERS OF THE DRAGON, a 6-issue graphic novel featuring the badass duo of Misty Knight and Colleen Wing! It’s written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Khari Evans. Will Colleen and Misty be able to team up and take down the bad guys? Probably! Unfortunately, not all of us were able to make our way to the last pages of this one. We were extremely excited to see what would happen in a book featuring these two awesome ladies, but the hyper-sexualized art and stale one-liners made this book a tough read. Decide for yourself if this one’s worth your time! Listen in as we discuss the highs and lows (and tits and ass) of DAUGHTERS OF THE DRAGON!

This week on Hard NOC Life, Keith is joined by his DC TV Classics co-host Britney Monae to fill in for Shawn as they break down the week in Nerd Pop. They kick it off with a discussion about Henry Cavill's apparent departure from the role of Superman (1:00), then transition into the personal hell Olivia Munn has had to suffer through while promoting her new film The Predator (6:45). The pod briefly transforms into a sports show as they go into what happened during the U.S. Open tennis final between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, including racist cartoons, mixed-race identity, and colorism (16:00). They close out the show with what's nerd poppin' for the week: for Britney, of course it's Captain Marvel, because she was MySpace friends with Brie Larson! Meanwhile Keith surprises with the Spider-Man video game and what happens to Colleen Wing in the finale of the show that shall not be named (24:00). All this and more on Hard NOC Life! Watch it on your screen, hit "play," and check this. Subscribe to all of podcasts in the Hard NOC Media family on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, and TuneIn Premium! Support us on Patreon!
