What happens after AGI? AGI is artificial general intelligence: it's when AI achieves human-level intelligence nd likely quickly thereafter super-human abilities, maybe even ushering in the Singularity. I was recently at the Beneficial AGI conference in Panama. One of the speakers was the founder of Emerj Artificial Intelligence Research. He's interviewed nearly 1,000 AI leaders, his name is Dan Faggella, and he has some good insight into what AGI might do. Or at least what the experts think about it … We discuss artificial general intelligence (AGI), the potential for post-human bliss through advanced simulations, and various perspectives on AGI's ethical and societal impacts. Fagella shares insights from interviews with nearly a thousand AI experts, outlining a matrix to categorize thoughts on AGI's future and human interaction. The discussion covers the balance between control, collaboration, and open-source development in AI, along with personal reflections on humanity's potential paths in an AI-dominated future. Themes include the ethical implications of AGI, the role of human values in AI development, and speculative futures where humanity merges with or is overshadowed by superior AI entities. 00:00 Exploring Post-Human Bliss and the Power of AI 01:31 The Matrix of AI Perspectives 02:50 Exploring the Future with AI: Preservation, Progression, and Ascension 04:26 Navigating the Path to AI: Control, Collaboration, Openness 07:11 Personal Stances and the Future of AI 19:00 AI's Impact on Society and the Future 24:23 Envisioning a Post-Human Future: Choices and Consequences 29:53 Reflections on Humanity's Path Forward with AI

AI technology will increasingly be a superweapon for totalitarian social and geopolitical control. Wolf Tivy and Daniel Faggella discuss this disturbing potential impact, geopolitical strife, and the long-term problem of species dominance.
The guy who kept me fed when I lived in a gym turned out to be a world-renowned AI expert. I've often told the story of me sleeping on the mats. But I don't usually mention how I made ends meet. I wrote articles for a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu blog called "Science of Skill". Dan Faggella ran that blog. That's where I honed my writing But he taught me so much more than that, he: Showed me the techniques I used to dominate international competitions. Taught me the power of positive psychology. Inspired me to become a marketer. Dan Faggella's accomplishments are nothing to scoff at: He presented his AI research at the United Nations HQ. He bootstrapped a company to a 2MM, fortune 5000 company. No-gi, Pan Am champion at Brown Belt. Masters in Positive Psychology. Founded and runs of Emerje AI research. His Company, Emerj, is where executive leaders turn to understand how AI is impacting their organization or industry – and what to do about it. Today we're going to talk about all of that but also about all of that. But also about how YOU can advance your career in the era of AI without learning how to code. Here's his website: emerj.com/ And here's the report he'll mention during the show: emerj.com/beg1
Financial institutions that are leaders in the use of data and AI are quickly differentiating themselves in a marketplace that puts a premium on data-backed decisions and intelligent interactions. AI brings the potential for disruption and transformation due to its ability to make decisions and take action much quicker than its human counterparts. It has been seen as a means of increasing productivity within a company and improving revenues through better customer engagements. But the use of AI is not without pitfalls, risks and detractors. Will AI discriminate between classes of people? Will AI be used for good or just corporate greed? How should the use of AI be regulated? To discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI in banking, we interviewed Dan Faggella, founder and CEO of the artificial intelligence research agency, Emerj. Dan is a globally recognized speaker on the use-cases of artificial intelligence in business, and has presented to the World Bank, the United Nations, INTERPOL, and global banking companies.

I had the great pleasure to talk to an actual expert in the field of Artificial Intelligence: Dan Faggella! He is the CEO of Emerj, that once was called Tech Emergence. They are analyzing the economic situation of different markets and companies concerning the adoption of AI - or better said: the potential of AI-adoption. But we do not only focus on business in this episode, actually we also talk a lot about Dan himself and how he got to the point where he is today. It is defenitely worth listening to and to every sense one of the best converstations I ever had! That's certainly one of the most important questions you can work on answering over the next five to 10 years. No matter what the answer is, the higher you can get the better chance you have of sticking around. Because Artificial Intelligence gets really hungry around low hanging fruit and can't handle a meal full of context, complexity and coordination. Those are the safest activities and skills you can stuff your insurance day with to fend off any unnecessary hunger. That's what I talk to Dan Faggella, CEO of Emerj, who lays out the current practical state of AI in insurance. Make sure you connect with Dan below: Emerj.com LinkedIn

Elon Musk might announce Neuralink any day now… What is Neuralink? It is a way for our brains to directly interface with the machines. Essentially, it's a way to merge with AI Technology and allow the human brain to take on some of the characteristics that we would typically associate with Artificial Intelligence algorithms. Elon Musk has been quietly developing Neuralink in some secret laboratories as his way of helping the human species survive our encounter with AI Technology. Elon Musk believes that we must join with the AI rather than try to beat them. From his perspective, this is the only way forward. I tend to agree with that sentiment. Merging with AI Technology is clearly the most beneficial and “safe” way forward. At this point in human history, we can either destroy AI technology, be destroyed or replaced by it one day, or we can merge with the AI through a modality like Neuralink. Oddly enough, all of this coincides with some profound psilocybin mushroom experiences I had years ago. On those experiences, it was revealed to me that the human species was evolving and that soon a sort of technology would arrive that would allow us to have more instant access to the internet… Essentially, hyper-accurate cliff-notes for all content. This seems to be Neuralink. When he was on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, Elon Musk explained that there's two problems with the merge with AI Technology: bandwitdth and user interface. In other words, we had to solve the issue of speed of how quickly we can gather data… and we also have to give ourselves a platform or portal via which that data can be viewed, collected, and engaged with. He said Neuralink seeks to solve the bandwidth issue. Ever since the experience with the mushrooms, I've been working with a team on the user interface piece… unknown really to the details about Neuralink. Here's the thing: it's not just me. Since starting on this journey, I've encountered many who are developing similar platforms… All of us heading towards some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. We are always bouncing around ideas and collaborating where possible as we head towards this supposed end-state. The collective species is evolving. Neuralink is the missing piece of the puzzle that will jumpstart the human species way beyond Homo sapiens. Want to learn more about AI Technology? AI Technology is perhaps the most important new technology to analyze. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most difficult. Why is that the case? It is evolving fast. Additionally, latest developments in the field of AI technology are kept a bit under wraps for competitive and security reasons. To make matters more complex, folks at the top of the food chain in AI technology are often lightyears ahead of “Average Joe” when it comes to comprehension of this new technology. In other words, it would take a few years for them to explain to Average Joe what exactly is happening. Latest technology innovations must be understood. Given the idea that these new technologies are advancing the evolution of the species, it is imperative that Average Joe understand what is happening. After all, if Average Joe is going to have their life entirely disrupted by AI technology, it is fair to say that they deserve an explanation, no matter how complex. Dan Faggella is a man who has stepped up to fill that role. Through his work with TechEmergence, Dan breaks down the complexities of AI technology to share with his audience. Geared towards helping business leaders understand Artificial Intelligence in the workplace, Dan and his team interview leading experts in the AI technology space. The interviews are then transformed into detailed articles that help business owners and “Average Joes” all over the world understand exactly what is happening in AI technology news. New technology like AI is here. On this episode of the Beyond Homo Sapien Podcast, Dan and I dive into how AI technology will advance our economy and ultimately our species. If you are confused by AI technology, this is a show that will breakdown some of the common questions around this new technology and shed some help on where our species is at today. In this interview, Dan Faggella talked about two key concepts: the potential for humans to become "digitized and digested" and also the idea of job security in the age of Artificial Intelligence. Dan Faggella, the founder and CEO of TechEmergence (techemergence.com), delivers an insightful overview of the power of AI and how companies can utilize it to move their business forward. TechEmergence is a sophisticated artificial intelligence market research and media platform. Its CEO and founder is passionate about AI and machine learning and believes that the most important ethical considerations of the next three decades will be the creation or expansion of sentience and intelligence in our technology. Dan Faggella is a writer and keynote speaker. He has written for multiple publications that focus on the nexus of business and technology such as the popular Bay Area-headquartered, TechCrunch; the Boston Business Journal; VentureBeat; VICE MotherBoard, the online magazine and video channel dedicated to technology, science, and humans; as well as many other respected sites and publications. As Faggella states, TechEmergence is the platform that answers the question, “What do the new capabilities of AI mean for me?” And TechEmergence is the definitive platform that allows business leaders to better understand how AI is impacting their business and industry, and most importantly, what they should do about it. As they state, TechEmergence is the industry source for authoritative market research and competitive intelligence for the many and varied business applications of artificial intelligence. Their critical mission is to provide executives and decision-makers the knowledge that they will need to maintain competitive insight, to engage in informed AI technology procurement, as well as strategic planning that centers on AI. Faggella discusses their mission of leveraging AI for business and policy leaders, and how they deliver usable, critical information that provides valuable insight. Fagella discusses some of the inevitable future trends that are, in his words, “almost unstoppable.” He recounts how companies often know that AI is important and is something that they should incorporate if they haven't already, but the basic tenets of what they need versus what they think they need are often quite divergent. As he states, many times whatever makes its way into tech media and creates a splash is precisely what business leaders naturally gravitate toward, though their true needs may lie elsewhere. He acknowledges that consumer interaction and chat is beneficial but that there could be other areas a business may want to engage beforehand in regard to AI. He explains how cost is a significant factor, for implementation of quality AI in a business framework requires technologists such as data scientists, time, testing, and tinkering, and therefore smaller companies might fare better to wait until their capital expenditures in the AI sector can be more robust. Fagella discusses some of the major forces of AI, such as user interface and usability, and how the needed skill level has constantly changed over the years. He states that while the implications for AI are enormous, that we are still only in an infantile stage, early phase two as he describes it. And unfortunately, the user interface of much AI that is being driven to the market is designed for those with wizard skills, so it will take some time for it to be ironed out and simplified such that the basic user can implement all that AI can offer. Fagella underscores the strong correlation between market share and large amounts of data, and how venture capitalists are excited about controlling the voluminous data that is continually being generated in the marketplace and shows no sign of slowing down.

Dan Faggella attributes a large part of the seven-figure sales price he recently achieved for his business to a clever email marketing strategy he learnt by studying how Sports Illustrated go about it. In today's episode, Dan walks us through exactly how he used email marketing to nurture a huge list and a successful business. Plus we catch up with Tom O'Toole, Australia's craziest baker, give away more prizes to some clever listeners and announce some big news direct from the Australian Podcast Awards. “I wanted to grow my business as fast as I could. I wanted to get it to the point that someone would want to pay a lot for it. I knew email marketing was my weapon of choice, so I looked around to see who was doing it extremely well. Who was making a billion dollars from it in annual revenue. And Sports Illustrated was first to mind!” -Dan Faggella, Tech Emergence There's loads more tips and insights just like this that will help you build that beautiful business of yours into the empire it deserves to be. Hit the PLAY button above to listen now, or subscribe free to hear the full interview. If you have questions about how to do email marketing successfully, then you'll get the answers in this interview, including: The rules for writing an autoresponder email series The 3 key ingredients of any automated email campaign How to borrow winning email marketing from the biggest player in your industry How to write a weekly newsletter that gets you sales And how to get into the habit of writing weekly emails even if you're not a writer Dan first appeared way back in episode 160, when he was a martial arts champion who'd sold his gym to focus on building an online training business for up and coming martial artists. Well, he built that business to the point where it was generating $2M annually, then recently sold it for seven figures, attributing a large part of that successful sale to his email marketing strategies. Here's what caught my attention from my chat with Tech Emergence's Dan Faggella: I love how Dan looked to Sports Illustrated for inspiration. Given they were already nailing their email marketing, why try and reinvent the wheel. So, for your current marketing challenge, choose a big brand that's doing it well and copy them! I also love Dan's approach to the first email you send in your autoresponder series - keep your headline fairly ‘vanilla' to avoid scaring people off (after all, they're just getting to know you), make it educational, provide solid social proof of any claims and a strong call to action, and a compelling reason to open the next email. And I love how Dan reached out to me for a second interview in order to share his learnings. He had nothing to sell. He just wanted to pay it forward and make a difference. So much so that he's even created a fantastic blog post detailing exactly how he used the Sports Illustrated email marketing model. But the marketing gold doesn't stop there, in this episode you'll also discover: Big news re the Australian Podcast Awards Two more lucky listeners share what marketing is working for them, and in return I give them a prize or two More prizes have been added for you to win in the Monster Prize Draw Australia's craziest baker, and past guest, Tom O'Toole updates us on his 20 km/h trip across Australia in a Model A Ford as he raises money fo0r cancer research Resources mentioned: My first interview with Dan on episode 160 Science of Skill's official website Tech Emergence - Dan's new business Forbes article Dan mentioned - Learn How One Millennial Sold A Tiny, Niche Business For $1 Million-Plus Timothy Reiss article Dan mentioned - How a young entrepreneur broke $1M in revenue in eight months Dan's blog on how he used the Sports Illustrated email marketing model Donate to cancer research thanks to Tom O'Toole Please support these businesses who make this show possible: American Express Business Explorer Credit Card ... it's the credit card that ensures your business expenses reward you. On this episode I talk with Dan Faggella from techemergence.com who had a 7 figure exit from his ecommere business. Show notes at >> https://richardpatey.com/techemergence/ Dan used his ecommerce business ScienceofSkill.com to fund his bigger ideas around AI, transhumanism and artificial sentience. He needed a location independent revenue stream to move onto his life's purpose helping to make the arms race of intelligence as non-confrontational as possible. He shares Elon Musk's views that a merger with machines is inevitable. We talk about the impact of AI on the future or work and (the end of) jobs as well as marketing (the link he mentioned).
“Even when you find business models that are pretty well fleshed-out, there's gonna be a million ways to connect the dots that you just kind of have to take your best swings and learn as hard as you can and work as hard as you can. That's going to be everybody's experience in entrepreneurship. There's really no way around that.” - Dan Faggella Our guest for today's episode is a Class A badass guy. Those who have been listening to the podcast for a while now know that I vet every single guest to make sure that they don't pitch a product or service that's not useful to our listeners. Hence I have a rule to never interview anyone I haven't met personally. This guy just broke that rule. Our guest, Dan Faggella, is an awesome, I-wish-I-had-more-time-to-talk-to-him impressive guy. I've been in ecommerce for over 15 years and it's hard to impress me with anything these days. But Dan just blew me away. I talked to him for about 40 minutes and had me thinking about implementing his ideas on my business after the interview. Dan Faggella is the founder of Tech Emergence, a company focusing on artificial intelligence. But before he founded Tech Emergence, he built and ran Science of Skill, an eLearning ecommerce company geared towards self-defense. What started as a way to fund his dream of building an AI company became a multi-million dollar venture, achieved by selling digital products. In this episode Dan and I talk about his early days in ecommerce, how he came about the idea of creating Science of Skill, tips on selling digital products, and tons more tips on ecommerce and entrepreneurship in general. As a sneak peek, here are some conversation points: How Dan and I virtually met Why and how he started Science of Skill How he found ecommerce as a way to fund his lifelong dream of creating an AI company The two approaches to selling digital products Leveraging digital products to increase margin on physical products Why he doesn't sell on Amazon Where he finds his customers and his sales channels Tips on selling digital products How he finds experts for his instructional videos His badass Jiu Jitsu skills and how he can beat guys twice his size (link to video below) This is an unusually long episode and I apologize for that. Today we are joined by my friend, CEO / founder at TechEmergence, and repeat guest on our show, Dan Faggella. TechEmergence is the only market research and company discovery platform focused exclusively on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Dan sold his first business, which he was building when him and I first met - for six figures. After building his second business from $0 to $75,000/month we did an interview here on the show.. you may want to go back and listen to it after hearing this… ultimately he was doing above $175,000/month and sold it for seven figures. Both businesses served as economic fuel for TechEmergence, his true passion. Dan believes the most important ethical considerations of the coming thirty years will be on the creation or expansion of sentience and intelligence in technology. TechEmergence is intended first as a vehicle to proliferate an open-minded conversation about the implications and applications of AI.. simply because Dan feels it is so important..So I've asked Dan to join us here today so we could all discover what is coming in the near future and how we can align our businesses to make the most of it.Enjoy!!! --- My mission is to create 200 new multi-millionaire business owners. How? You'll do better when you know better. Would it help you to have a mentor who can cut your learning curve by sharing their mistakes with you so you could avoid them? Dan Faggella is the founder of Tech Emergence and host of the AI in Industry Podcast. While he initially began his podcast with a broad focus on technology and intelligence, he's narrowed it down to deliver valuable information to industry leaders who need to know how AI might affect their work. Dan's strategy might be just what you need to boost the value you're providing to your audience! Dan shares how his new niche more accurately reflects the spirit of his show and message, and we discuss how his capacity for monetization increased with this pivot, too. He leaves us with some advice for narrowing down the scope of your content for those of you interested in making similar moves. Here's What You'll Discover: The initial topics Dan talked about on his show, and how they grew into the AI and innovation focus he has today. What questions Dan asked his audience as he strategized his new direction. Why rebranding was a crucial piece of creating a more refined and valuable show for his listeners. You're probably already sitting on a unique, niche value proposition - and Dan has tips for teasing that out. How a more specific show will encourage dedicated listeners to spread your content to their friends and others in their industry. Dan Faggella from techemergence.com joins us to share his insights on some of the exciting uses of Artificial Intelligence that's being used in combination with big data in marketing, both by large and small businesses alike. Dan Faggella joins SEJ's Brent Csutoras to share tips and learnings on building and selling a subscription-based website. The post How to Build and Sell a Subscription-Based Company [PODCAST] appeared first on Search Engine Journal.
Dan Faggella started Science of Skill, an e-commerce website selling self-defense videos and paraphernalia, in 2013. His goal was to sell the business as soon as possible, and he started soliciting offers just 14 months later.
Dan Faggella founded a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy to pay for college and grad school which sparked the idea for his eCommerce business, Science of Skill. Science of Skill was created for the sole purpose of eventually selling it and using the exit money to fund an artificial intelligence market research company. He grew Science of Skill past $2 million in revenue, sold it in 2017, and TechEmergence was born completely funded by the exit. If you listen, you will learn: How recurring revenue helps the value of your business Importance of finding a marketing channel that ensures consistent profitability and growth Having key employees that can run the company without the owner can increase the value of the company and provide for a smoother transition/exit Importance of knowing how the processes of your company tie into growth and profit How to figure out and analyze the core metrics of your business Finding the right broker makes a ton of difference when selling a business Building Up Science of Skill Dan went from owning a physical Jiu-Jitsu gym to starting an eCommerce business. He started taping the Jiu-Jitsu seminars he was giving in person and putting them on the internet. He took the curriculum he used and studied himself and turned the videos, information, and skill development exercises into monthly subscription based lessons which would allow the company to have recurring revenue. “I had it impressed on me early on that recurring revenue is a good thing. Recurring revenue is going to help you sell for a higher margin. Recurring revenue is going to give you less nightmare than businesses that don't have recurring revenue. The only reason I was able to sell that gym was because it was recurring so I think that lesson kind of traveled over. I transferred that to an online business model I could run from anywhere,” explains Dan. The Jiu-Jitsu videos and information quickly extended out into general self-defense and self-protection lessons which attracted a broader audience to Science of Skill making the company more diverse and valuable to a buyer. Starting With The End In Mind TechEmergence was always the goal at the end of the tunnel. Dan wanted to start a purpose led business in AI technology by growing and selling something highly profitable. He spent half his time giving Ted Talks, writing articles, and building a media business around artificial intelligence and spent the other half of his time selling self-defense materials on the internet. Dan wanted to sell Science of Skill quickly to fund his AI research company. He thought it would take a year or so and ultimately, it took over three years. He didn't realize when founding the eCommerce business that it would be so difficult to sell. “I thought I am going to flip this bad boy and call it a day,” says Dan. Dan was under what he calls a “naïve belief” that he would be able to sell the company easily. In reality, he had to grow the company for four years before a bank would facilitate a seven-figure transaction. The banks required three years of tax returns and valuations. “Banks don't like stuff that involve the internet,” says Dan. He did find a buyer who had previous experience in the eCommerce space with a bank that backed them. They purchased Science of Skill in early 2017. It was three years longer than what Dan originally planned and was anxious to get TechEmergence going on more of a full-time basis. Lessons Learned Dan learned a lot throughout the process of starting and selling his eCommerce business. Not only shouldn't you expect to sell a small
