Artist Hanna Tuulikki traces the migration route of the Marsh Warbler, a bird that mimics and remixes the songs of European and Afrotropical species it meets, across the English Channel to Kent.Through vocal mimesis, or mimicry, Hanna Tuulikki offers alternative approaches to making kin with more-than-human beings. Developing their performance work with birds and bats in Scotland, recently part of an exhibition on Dartmoor, Hanna returns to southern England to raise the alarm for another endangered species - the Marsh Warbler. The artist imagines a fictional creature called the Love Warbler, part-human and part-bird, composing its song from traditional love songs collected from 27 countries along the Marsh Warbler's migratory route across Europe and Africa. Taking on the role of ‘nature's original DJ', Hanna creates a musical mashup with the bird's song structure, and live sounds from the concrete sound mirrors at Denge near Dungeness in Folkestone. The audio is then broadcast locally into a former World War I shelter that overlooks the English Channel, internationally on shortwave radio - and via the EMPIRE LINES podcast.Meeting 64 species in just over seven minutes, Hanna explains how the work takes a bird's eye view over the routes which humans and animals have long travelled. Both celebrating histories and making new relations, the artist details their collaborations, including with ornithologist Geoff Sample, and musicians from the Western Balkans. We explore how Hanna's work is both inspired by and critical of romantic depictions of natural landscapes, and national identities. The artist shares experiences from her residency at Prospect Cottage, the former home and sanctuary of artist, filmmaker, gay rights activist, and gardener Derek Jarman (1942-1994). Encountering a Qur'an, washed up on the shore of the southern coast, we discuss British media representations of the ‘migrant crisis'. Through the warbler, we explore entangled ecological and geopolitical crises, and individual stories behind transnational journeys, that often risk being lost at sea.Folkestone Triennial 2025 continues until 19 October 2025. Deju svētkos šoreiz piedalās daudz vairāk bērnu. Šoreiz uz Deju svētkiem ir tikuši 96% no visiem kolektīviem, skolēnu svētkos pirms desmit gadiem piedalījās 56% kolektīvu. Toreiz gan bija lielāks kolektīvu kopskaits, taču stadionā bija tikai 13 000 dejotāju. Šovasar stadionā satiksim 17 000 dejotāju! Rotaļelementi, mēles mežģi, skaitāmpanti, arī padomi, mīklas un tautas gudrības savērs zināšanas, atvērs vārtus, ļaus vērties pasaulē, atskatīties uz saviem senčiem un atvērt jaunus vārtus. Laima, liktens lēmēja, saved kopā Tēvu, Māti un arī bērnus, tādēļ koncertā dejos un savus atziņu vārtus vērs bērni un jaunieši, bet līdzās viņiem būs lielie brāļi un māsas, mammas un tēti, kuri ar aktīvu un radošu iesaisti dzīvā scenogrāfijā papildinās dejotāju veidotos laukuma rakstus un zīmes. Lielkoncerta mērķis: caur tradīcijas izpratni, deju, mūziku un spēli visiem būt piederīgiem Deju svētkiem. "Lielā atslēga ir deju skolotājs. Shot on hi-8 tapes in her native Serbia, the film follows three sisters documenting their lives during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999. Hello everyone! Life has been anything but dull lately, and we're excited to share some highlights from the past couple of months. From heartfelt celebrations to deepening community connections, our journey has been filled with joy, challenges, and answered prayers.In January, we kicked off the year with an "Ugly Sweater and Game" night, fostering fellowship and laughter among friends. Our Russian community saw growth as Katarina began teaching a bilingual Sunday school class, while Emilija's first birthday brought cherished moments with loved ones. We also hosted a meaningful ladies' gathering, spreading messages of spiritual renewal in multiple languages.February brought a whirlwind of activity as we prepared for a marriage and family conference. Despite modest attendance, we remained steadfast in our commitment to God's call, drawing inspiration from the prophets of old. Our combined service bridged language barriers, fostering unity and shared worship experiences. Tangible blessings, such as a new church piano and the arrival of a much-needed helper fluent in Russian, filled our hearts with gratitude.As we reflect on these recent months, we're reminded of the beauty of life's milestones and the faithfulness of God's providence. Our journey is marked by moments of joy, challenge, and growth, and we're grateful for each step along the way.

Emilija Mijić na proteste "Srbija protiv nasilja" izlazi kao građanka i kao antropološkinja sa više od 10 godina istraživačkog iskustva. U podcastu "Život na srpskom" saznajemo kako ih ona vidi i šta očekuje. Skup "Srbija nade" zakazan je za 26. maj, a četvrti protest "Srbija protiv nasilja" za 27. maj. U razgovoru s antropološkinjom Emilijom Mijić kristališe se pozadina i jednog i drugog, ali i naslućuje šta bi moglo da se desi posle. Emilija objašnjava zašto se aktuelni protesti ne mogu upoređivati s 5. oktobrom, niti bilo kojim drugim u našoj prošlosti, gde je njihova najveća snaga i kuda (bi trebalo da) vode. Podseća kako se u Srbiji razvijala kultura nasilja i "kuvalo" sve ovo što se danas dešava. Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022   Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022:  The 20th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place on 11 December 2022 following the victory of Armenia in the 2021 edition with Malena and the song "Qami Qami". The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022  will be held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex. This will be the second time that Armenia hosts the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the first being in 2011 from the same venue. Sixteen countries will participate in the contest with The United Kingdom returning after a sixteen-year absence, while Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany and Russia will not take part. Participating countries are: Albania, Armenia, France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malta, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Fakes is the story of two best friends – played by Emilija Baranac and Jennifer Tong – who accidentally build one of the largest fake ID empires in North America. Friend-of-the-podcast Richard Harmon is Tryst, who might or might not be something of a dirtbag. There's a lot to love about this comedy-drama, the 10 episodes of which hit CBC Gem (in Canada) and Netflix (outside of Canada) earlier this month.
