Since its seat-of-the-pants beginnings in the early 2000s, the Prague Fringe has established itself as one of the leading events of its kind in Europe. Indeed, this year the festival is marking no less than a quarter century of existence with a packed programme that gets underway on May 22. The Prague Fringe was first dreamt up by two friends: Steve Gove, who still runs it, and Angus Coull, who is now back in the pair's native Scotland. And ahead of this year's landmark edition, Gove and Coull shared often colourful recollections of the festival's beginnings.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"Notes on Collagen" terá quatro apresentações em abril, no teatro Under St. Marks, no East Village, em Nova York.

On MoneyFM 89.3’s joins Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen and co-host Neil Humphreys welcome Melissa Lim, General Manager and Executive Producer of The Necessary Stage and the Singapore Fringe Festival, to discuss the urgent fundraising campaign needed to keep the 2027 Fringe alive. Since 2005, the Fringe has been one of Singapore’s most important platforms for socially engaged art. It has commissioned over 1,000 local artists and groups, presenting international works, and creating safe spaces for conversations on mental health, inequality, climate change, migrant workers, and identity. But with the loss of its long‑time title donor in 2025, rising post‑COVID costs, and a cautious corporate philanthropy climate, the festival is now facing a funding cliff. Despite a successful community‑driven campaign that kept the 2026 edition afloat, the current crowdfunding effort has raised just over $9,000 of the $80,000 needed, with the deadline looming on 31 March. Melissa shares why the Fringe matters — its commitment to emerging creators, accessibility for disabled audiences, and its belief that art must remain affordable and inclusive. She also explains what’s at stake if the festival disappears, especially in a year when even major theatre companies are struggling to survive. Les, Kurt, and Jason are back after another extended break between episodes because Les keeps getting recruited to help a bunch of length-impaired Fringe Festival shows (and poetry jams). Since Kurt doesn't have any new Blac Chyna news, there is at least some June Squib news to fill the void. Plus, the guys talk about Mike White becoming absolutely ripped. Then, the guys look to the skies to see if they can make something of Hallmark's The Stars Between Us, a movie that keeps its chemistry-free leads away from each other for the entire movie while shining a spotlight on the secondary characters to mixed results. With two lead characters with no spark between them, the movie spends a lot of time devaluing paying ones dues to get on the news while grossly overvaluing the draw of a podcast about astronomy. The people in this movie are going to the bathroom for likely more than just dealing with their fiber intake: they're going to look at their length-impaired telescope.    Bluesky: lifetimeofhallmark Facebook : lifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Threads: lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast TikTok: lifetimeofhallmarkpod Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

Deirdre Lovejoy Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Deirdre Lovejoy (DD). In this episode, we chat about her growing up in Indiana, and what made her mom tell her to get into acting. Next, we talk about an insane freak accident that almost took her whole hand off! Naturally I ask her about moving to Brookly after having lived in Manhattan for so long. We touch on her stint on the television show 'Bones', as well as her arc on 'The Blacklist'. Then we dive into one of my all-time favorite shows, 'Raising Dion'. I love this show, so I geek out a little, before we talk about her getting cast in the greatest show of all time, 'The Wire'. Then, we talk about a super rare condition that DD was later diagnosed with, following some really scary events (Stress Related Seizure Disorder). Deirdre shares with me the details of the play she is writing about some of her traumatic experiences (Trauma Nova), and how she plans to put the show on at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in Scotland. We also discuss her other play (Bird Elephant China), which chronicled some unrelated traumatic events. Finally, we end talking about her love for NBA basketball, and her beloved New York Knicks. You can catch DD on the previously mentioned shows, as well as the upcoming seasons of 'Daredevil Born Again', and Diarra From Detroit.

There's woven layers, knots, found objects and time-composed pieces, both large and small, and many are hanging from the ceiling. So it's a truly immersive experience. You get to walk around the art. I would check it out just to learn and see how simple processes, like weaving, knotting, can be transformed into really contemplative, transformative pieces. A lot of the pieces are very airy, and so you're actually seeing through them. You see how it all blends together and flows into one really great use of the space.— Sandra BrickMultimedia storytelling takes the stagePerformance enthusiast Laurel Podulke-Smith of Rochester follows the work of local artist Jessalyn Finch, who has a short multimedia film debuting this weekend. “Embodied Landscapes” is the creation of Finch, Mary Mailand Schlichting and Laura Sukowatey. The film incorporates dance, large-scale drawing and sculpture. The premiere takes place at the Historic Chateau Theatre in Rochester on Sunday, Jan. 11. Screenings are at 2 and 3:15 p.m., with an artist talk and Q&A in between. Attendees are encouraged to wear cocktail attire and enjoy mocktails while meeting the artists.Surreal sisterhood in ‘Plano'Minneapolis theater maker Caleb Byers recommends “Plano,” presented by Third Space Theater. The play runs Jan. 9–18 at the Alan Page Auditorium at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis.Caleb says he's been anticipating this production since seeing Third Space Theater's original show “Breach” at the Fringe Festival. Caleb describes the play: Will Arbery is something of a magical realist-slash-surrealist playwright. And “Plano” is about three sisters, essentially in a sort of heightened reality and a sort of undisclosed period of time. Time is a little bit strange in “Plano.” They, in a very surreal style, move through their specific problems. There's very snappy, casual, modern dialogue. I'm incredibly excited for these artists in particular to tackle this.— Caleb Byers

The wildly talented multi-hyphenate Mayumi Yoshida returns to the YVR Screen Scene Podcast to discuss her long-awaited feature film directorial debut, Akashi, which is inspired by Mayumi's own experience of living in the space between cultures. Ten years after moving to Vancouver, struggling visual artist Kana (that's Mayumi) returns to Tokyo to attend the funeral of her beloved grandmother. Arriving in Japan, she rekindles a tentative flame with her bashful ex-boyfriend, Hiro, an aspiring thespian who vanished from her life a decade prior. As Kana digs deeper into her grandmother's past, she uncovers a family secret that prompts her to reconsider everything she thought she knew about love, duty, and belonging.Akashi – which Mayumi wrote, directed, and starred in – has its world premiere this week at the 2025 Vancouver International Film Festival. The feature began its life as a Fringe Festival play in 2016, before evolving into a Storyhive-funded short film in 2017 (the latter for which she earned a slew of awards, including the award for Best Female Director at the 2018 Vancouver Short Film Festival, and the Outstanding Writer Award at the NBCUniversal Short Film Festival). Although it's been a long road to bring Akashi to the screen in its current feature-length incarnation, Mayumi hasn't been idle in the intervening years: between directing short films – including the music video for Different Than Before, which won the SXSW Music Video Jury Award in 2023 – and working as a dialect coach and cultural consultant and advocating for diversity and inclusion in our challenging industry, Mayumi has been fighting to get this film made. This included, in 2021, taking on Telefilm, Canada's major funding provider, for their outdated language requirements that didn't take Canada's purported commitment to diversity and inclusion into consideration. In this riveting conversation with Sabrina Rani Furminger, Mayumi reflects on her journey to this moment, how Akashi changed over the years, and how Akashi changed her as an artist. In this engaging episode, Vanessa Codorniu takes listeners through her transformative journey both on and off the stage, focusing on a recent performance at the Harrisburg Fringe Festival. Vanessa shares the profound impact of expression beyond the bounds of perfection, weaving in themes of creativity, ancestral healing, and community through improv. She touches on her extensive experience in the spiritual domain, revealing how these artistic endeavors are intertwined with personal and collective healing.   Drawing from her adventures at the Fringe Festival, Vanessa underscores the importance of embracing imperfection and making bold choices in any creative or life endeavor. She calls attention to the power of presence over polish in performance, emphasizing the emotional and community value of authentic self-expression.   Vanessa extends these lessons to everyday life and business, encouraging listeners to allow creativity to lead and rejecting the constraints of societal expectations. Through anecdotes and reflections, she highlights how creativity serves as both a spiritual and personal outlet for growth and authenticity. DEEP gratitude to @717arts And Harrisburg Fringe Festival!   * Expression Over Perfection: Embrace the power of presence and authenticity rather than striving for flawless execution in both art and life.   * Community and Support: Highlight the significance of collaboration and community in creative and personal journeys, affirming that mutual uplift fosters collective empowerment.   * Silliness and Play: Recognize the sacred nature of play and absurdity, which can dismantle ego and foster genuine joy and creativity.   * Creativity as Resistance: Bold self-expression acts as a form of spiritual resistance in a world that often seeks conformity, echoing the importance of standing tall in one's truth.   * Transformation Through Performance: Immersing oneself in creative pursuits can lead to profound personal growth and reconnect with innate passions and abilities.   For more info: www.thebizbruja.com Book a Free Chat: https://booksy.com/en-us/682973_vanes...   FALL EQUINOX RETREAT Sept 19-21, 2025: THREE SPOTS OPEN read more HERE    BIO: Vanessa Codorniu is a seasoned intuitive healer, educator, and improvisational performer with over 25 years of experience in spiritual work and ancestral healing.
