Most people don't fail because of lack of talent — they fail because they never fully commit to who they're becoming. In this episode of The Root of All Success, Jason Duncan sits down with Shawn Anthony, host of the School of Self Image podcast and a voice for personal responsibility, mindset mastery, and self-belief. Shawn breaks down why identity — not strategy — is the real driver of success, and how most people stay stuck by outsourcing belief, confidence, and direction to the world around them. This conversation dives into: • Why self-image determines your income, habits, and outcomes • How to stop waiting for permission and start owning your path • The discipline required to trust yourself when results lag • Why clarity beats motivation every time • What it really takes to become the person success requires If you're building a business, redefining your identity, or trying to step into your next level — this episode will challenge you in the best way.
It's a very 2016-coded episode of DaBaddest Radio. Bretman and Miss K kick things off with a deep dive into nostalgia - Tumblr edits, musically era hits, high-saturation selfies, and the chokehold the 2016 beauty community had on all of us. We talk BTS' massive comeback and world tour, Beyoncé's mysterious “Act III,” the dream speeches we wish we could've witnessed, and why our thirties are about to be our final-form eras. We also get into dating timelines, moving in too early, when your frontal lobe actually develops, the icked-out first dates we survived, and whether we'd ever date fans. Spoiler: Bretman wants a partner with their own house. Preferably next door. With a guest room.Produced by Dear MediaSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Hey EICapulets! To Brooklyn, or to Beckham? That is this week's question. There was simply no way of doing this episode without discussing the biggest news of the week, which is a pretty big statement, all things considered. On Monday evening, Brooklyn Beckham took to his Instagram and posted a series of stories stating that he does not want to reconcile with his family. This comes after years of speculation about a rift between the Beckhams and Brooklyn and Nicola, a lot of which started after their 2022 wedding. We discuss how and why this has taken the internet by storm, and what we make of it all.Next up! Chloe Zhao's Hamnet is based on Maggie O'Farrell's novel of the same name. The fictional story follows Agnes Hathaway (played by Jessie Buckley) and William Shakespeare (played by Paul Mescal) as they lose their son Hamnet to the plague- and how this tragedy births the play Hamlet. Very little is known about Shakespeare's life, so this story has been compared to fan-fiction. But just a lil fact check: several other plays, including two comedies, Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like It came between the death of Hamnet and the creation of Hamlet, according to The New Yorker.Since the film's release there's been a lot of claims it's "grief porn". We get into it.And lastly, whoever is doing 2016's marketing needs a raise, after a nostalgia-based trend caused what feels like the entire internet to look back a decade to the days of Pokemon Go, Brexit, Beyonce's Lemonade, Trump 1.0, Kylie lip kits and chokers to name but a few big moments and trends. For those of us who were old enough to own phones and participate in the culture and social media back then, throwbacks are aplenty. For those who missed it the first time around, FOMO is in full force. Harper's Bazaar has called 2016 the “last good year”, and Glamour suggested it might be the last time we felt “hopeful”. According to TikTok, searches for 2016 surged by 454% in the first week of the new year and about 229 million posts have been made using their 2016 filter. But why?We hope you enjoy, as always please do rate, review & subscribe!Thank you to Cue for the edit.Beth's been loving: The Silence Of The Lambs (the book), Emily In Paris. er and cultural critic Christiana Mbakwe Medina joins Question Everything to dissect the strange, shifting logic of our current moment, from the collapse of celebrity mystique to our obsession with wealth, power, and proximity to influence. Christiana and Danielle, explore why “cancel culture” doesn’t really cancel anyone, how pop culture functions as soft power, and why so many modern myths, from the tradwife fantasy to the American Dream, are starting to crack. They also look ahead to what 2026 might bring: a more irreverent cultural mood shaped by fear fatigue, AI, and a hunger for something that feels human. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why pop culture is a mirror of society, not a distraction from it How celebrity lost its mystique in the age of access and social media Why cancel culture rarely has lasting consequences Why Lauren Sánchez Bezos may be one of the most important power brokers in culture right now What the Diddy verdict reveals about power, fame, and forgiveness How and why powerful men are so often culturally forgiven What “soft power” really means—and how culture shapes politics more than we think Why we confuse wealth with moral worth How the American Dream functions more like a myth than a reality What the tradwife / “soft life” fantasy is really selling to burned-out women Why staying home is far harder and riskier than TikTok makes it look How AI is quietly reshaping creativity and culture already Why culture may be entering a more irreverent, punk era after years of fear and caution What’s actually changing about fame, influence, and the influencer economy Why celebrity apologies rarely work (and never really have) How we should think about aging, relevance, and cultural exits (including Beyoncé) What we’re misreading about power, gender, and modern ambition Follow Christiana on Instagram @christianaama, and don’t miss her Substack and podcast, Pop Syllabus. Content warning: This episode contains discussion of rape (40:37–42:20). In this episode we ask Bob Stanley about his career as a writer and member of the beloved Saint Etienne, whose swansong year this is. We start with Caff, the '80s fanzine which set out the eclectic pop aesthetic that underpinned Saint Etienne, proceeding from there to Bob's memories of life on Melody Maker in the late '80s and early '90s. A clip of our guest's erstwhile MM colleague Simon Reynolds talking about Saint Etienne in 2021 is the cue for a general discussion of the trio's evolution over the last 35 years – and for an explanation of their (very amicable) decision to call it a day after a tour this September. Revisiting the epic "story of pop" that was Bob's 2013 tome Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! leads to clips from Hank Bordowitz's 1997 audio interview with the late Connie Francis, the Jersey girl who in the late '50s and early '60s was arguably the biggest female pop artist in America. After Mark pays a lifelong Deadhead's tribute to the late Bob Weir, he quotes from newly-added library pieces about the Nice (1967), Tom Wolfe (1969) and Paul McCartney (1979). Finally, Jasper sees us out with his thoughts on interviews with Ini Kamoze (1995) and D'Angelo (1998). Many thanks to special guest Bob Stanley. Visit his website at bobstanley.co.uk and find Yeah Yeah Yeah in all good bookshops. Pieces discussed: Saint Etienne, St. Etienne: Holier Than Thou, Saint Etienne: Cats Eyes and Legless, Bill Haley, Bob Stanley: Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! – The Story of Pop Music from Bill Haley to Beyoncé, Connie Francis was a trailblazing pop star haunted by tragedy, Connie Francis audio, The World According to Cliff, Alone again gratefully: Bob Weir proves he's more than Dead, The Nice, Tom Wolfe, Paul McCartney, Ini Kamoze, Voodoo Chile: D'Angelo and Yungblud.

It seems like forever ago that awards shows were a time to honor excellence. Now they've become an excuse to hate watch, an opportunity to tear apart artists for what they wear, what they say and even how they look at each other. Coming off a particularly contentious 2025 around the world, the upcoming Grammy Awards will certainly tick off a lot of viewers. For starters, these days we just get mad at everybody all the time for everything anyway. What's more, there are raw nerves out there about any number of social and political issues - and musicians aren't known for being diplomats who keep their opinions to themselves. And on top of everything, last year's Grammys saw Beyonce finally win her first Album of the Year award - for a country album that many country fans refused to accept as "country." (There are still residual hurt feelings over that one.) Many of this year's top contenders, for Album of the Year and other major awards, have been linked to key social issues and are known for saying what's on their minds. Bad Bunny (set to perform at halftime of this year's Super Bowl) could win Album of the Year among other awards. It would be the first time a Spanish-language album won for best overall album ... and it should be noted the Puerto Rican performer was in the news in 2025 for canceling shows and/or avoiding performances in many cities because of expectations of ICE raids targeting concertgoers. This year's Grammys could also find Kendrick Lamar or Lady Gaga win their first Album of the Year Grammy. Lamar, an early and committed advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, hasn't flinched from controversy in his career - including during his recent vicious rivalry with Drake. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has been a career-long, unapologetically vocal, ally for the LGBTQ members of society ... and 2025 was a particularly tough one for trans Americans. Enter Wayne Bledsoe and Chuck Campbell, veteran music journalists (and friends) who have been arguing about the Grammys since the 1990s. As hosts of "How We Heard It," they invite listeners to play along during this episode as they make their picks from this year's nominees, choosing who deserves to win and who likely will win. Most importantly, they urge everyone to relax and enjoy the music. We're all friends here.

You saw them on ABC News; now meet them on this excting episode. The Reasonable Doubts is a "garage band" of Minnesota judges, created to provide creativity and to relieve stress through making music together. The group has nine members, who come together to enjoy music and foster camaraderie outside of their judicial roles. The Reasonable Doubts was formed about two years ago by Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Anne McKeig, who sent an email to judges across the state inviting them to join her in starting a band. As you will hear, the name "Reasonable Doubts" refers to the legal standard of proof required in criminal cases. The band practices nearly every weekend in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and their repertoire covers genres from country to rock and pop. They perform covers of popular songs, including tracks by Elvis Presley, AC/DC, and Beyoncé. The Reasonable Doubts has participated in various events, including their first public booking at Law Law Palooza, (Get it?) a benefit concert for legal aid, highlighting their commitment to community engagement while also showcasing their musical talents. The Reasonable Doubts band demonstrates how judges can come together to share their love for music, to support each other, and to find balance in their demanding careers. I know from my day job the stress under which judges work --- day and night. The Reasonable Doubts goes a way to relive that stress.Enjoy this episode!
Join Kamal, Mark and me for the Aryaa 2-Week Detox beginning January 26, 2026 at www.aryaaorganic.com. Mark and I will be sharing masterclass videos and recorded teachings, and I'll be doing the detox right alongside you for my third time! Step into a conversation that feels like a sacred masculine council with Kamal Hans and Mark Jenkins on this episode of Intimate Conversations: Dark Night to Divine Light. Two men from very different worlds, united by devotion, integrity, and embodied conscious leadership, join me for a powerful dialogue about purpose, alignment and what it truly means to live and lead from the heart. Kamal shares his courageous journey of walking away from massive financial success in the tobacco industry when his body and soul could no longer tolerate misalignment. That awakening led him to donate everything he had built and devote his life to creating Aryaa Organic, blending ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern science, intention, and frequency to create food as medicine. Mark opens up about his extraordinary rise from growing up in Brooklyn during the crack era to joining the Navy at 17yrs, and how physical transformation became the doorway to confidence, leadership and service. His path from training people for free while living in the projects to training celebrities like Beyonce and the late D'Angelo, is a living example of humility, grit and embodiment. Together, we explore why true wellness must be sustainable, why detoxing is about far more than food or weight loss, and how intimacy, vitality and aligned relationships are created from the inside out. We also talk about: -Walking away from success when it costs your soul -Turning money, status and achievement into service and purpose -Food as medicine through frequency, intention and sacred design -Embodiment as the foundation of confidence and leadership -Growing up in survival yet choosing a new path forward -Why fitness alone is not wellness without nervous system regulation -Detoxing emotional suppression, numbing behaviors and old coping patterns -Intimacy as an inside job and the power of embodied generosity -Conscious business, wellness and intimacy as one unified devotion This episode is an invitation to stop outsourcing worth to external success and invest in the inner architecture that creates meaning, vitality, and love. You can also explore Mark's work at www.markjenkinsmethod.com and receive a complimentary month of his online training when you begin the detox with us. ➡️ Go check out patreon.com/allanapratt for Exclusive content! What if the sixth album is where artists finally step into their truest selves? We kick off season six by chasing that idea across genres and decades, building a mix from Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Kendrick Lamar, Prince, Beyoncé, The Beatles, Jay-Z, John Mayer, The National, Michael Jackson, Foo Fighters, and A Tribe Called Quest. The pattern that emerges is hard to ignore: at album six, craft meets courage, and the results can be seismic. We start with contrasts—Radiohead's brooding There, There and the stark intimacy of Springsteen's Nebraska—spotlighting how restraint can be as bold as maximalism. Kendrick's TV Off punches at the attention economy while delivering meme-worthy flair; Prince's Purple Rain towers as a career-defining epic that still feels alive. We trace personal and cultural stakes in Beyoncé's Formation, then pivot to The Beatles' Michelle to show how Rubber Soul reshaped their sound with subtle, melodic confidence. The timeline gets playful when Jay-Z's '03 Bonnie & Clyde foreshadows what Lemonade would later complicate. We celebrate narrative craft in John Mayer's Walt Grace, sit with The National's vulnerable “45%er” admission, and marvel at Thriller's near-greatest-hits density anchored by Billie Jean. Foo Fighters' The Pretender turns sixth-album freedom into kinetic fuel, and A Tribe Called Quest's We the People closes with legacy, politics, and gratitude—proof that a final statement can still move the culture forward.https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/sam-2026-6th-album-mix/pl.u-1LX0auZaGX7V1. Hit-Boy is an award-winning producer and rapper from LA. He's one of my all-time favorite producers, from “Backseat Freestyle” by Kendrick Lamar, to “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott, to tracks he's made for Beyonce, Nas, and the Jay-Z & Kanye album Watch the Throne. So I was really excited to talk to him, and when I asked him which song from his incredible catalog he wanted to talk about, I was really moved by his choice. He picked “Racks in the Middle” by Nipsey Hussle, featuring Roddy Ricch. Nipsey Hussle was a rapper and community activist from LA whose career was cut short, tragically, when he was murdered in 2019. He'd released just one album, Victory Lap. “Racks in the Middle” was the last song released in Nipsey's lifetime. It went platinum, and a year after his death, it won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance, in 2020. This episode features a few short clips from a video that Nipsey Hussle made for the website Genius, back in 2019. There's a link to the full video that he made in the shownotes. But here in the studio, to tell the story, I spoke to Hit-Boy about how “Racks in the Middle” came together. To learn more, visit songexploder.net/hit-boy.

It's about power, perception, and how different women are allowed to move through the world — and be believed when they do.Let's talk about it.Also! I want to know more about you.If you have a few minutes, take the listener survey below and tell me where you're listening from, what you want more of, and what conversations you want this show to explore next.Take my survey here!https://forms.gle/yf5XvCUGyDn9tYUZ7Subscribe for monthly bonus episodes:https://www.patreon.com/c/queenthingspodhttps://queenthings.substack.com/Join the conversation:TikTok -@queenthingspod, @iam_kjmillerYouTube - www.youtube.com/@iamkjmillerIG:@kjmillerReferences:The Art of Loving - Album by Olivia Dean:https://open.spotify.com/album/0l8zYqoUeBYg47Gmevq9HZ?si=0Liwb4fUQBKtPHnHq2Op1QMy TikTok on End of an Era vs. the Renaissance Documentary:https://www.tiktok.com/@iam_kjmiller/video/7591937416143850765Taylor's End of an Era Docuseries:https://www.disneyplus.com/browse/entity-a948a435-fdcc-4cbe-b699-85dd62fec60bBeyoncé's Renaissance Documentary:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance:_A_Film_by_Beyonc%C3%A9Ashley Tisdale's Article from The Cut:https://www.thecut.com/article/ashley-tisdale-french-mom-group-mean-girls-parenting.html@erica_mags TikTok about the article:https://www.tiktok.com/@erica_mags/video/7590906583794732319?lang=enGirl Get Up feat.
