On this episode of Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty talks with TEDx speaker, author, and creative strategist Paul Pape, also known as Santa for Nerds. Together, they explore how creatives can stop forcing themselves into the corporate mold and instead build businesses that feel natural, joyful, and profitable. Paul shares his Gamify Business approach, showing how to use game mechanics—like character sheets, quests, and teamwork—to transform the business side of creativity from a burden into an adventure. Listeners will discover why traditional business education often harms creative mental health, how to embrace their unique strengths, and why finding just 100 true fans can build lasting success. About the Guest Paul Pape is a TEDx speaker, author of The Creative Player's Handbook to Business, and founder of Gamify Business. With over 20 years of experience working with Disney, Universal, Nickelodeon, and his own thriving design studio, Paul helps creatives shift from the “starving artist” mindset to building businesses that align with how they actually think and create. Known as Santa for Nerds, Paul brings a fun, game-based approach to serious business challenges. Key Takeaways Traditional business rules often stifle creativity; success comes from rewriting the rules for your own path. Gamifying business with role-playing concepts (character sheets, quests, teamwork) makes entrepreneurship less stressful and more motivating. A “character sheet” exercise helps creatives see their strengths and weaknesses clearly, without judgment. Business success doesn't require a million followers—just 100 true fans willing to support your work. Hustle culture drains creative energy; focusing on authenticity and aligned strategy builds resilience and sustainable growth. Selling you as the creative is more powerful than just selling your product—connection matters more than cheap competition. In honor of National Suicide Prevention Month, we are revisiting our episode with Kel Mitchell. Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, author of Blessed Mode: 90 Days to Level Up Your Faith) joins us to discuss his early career as a 90's Nickelodeon star and the major life events that shaped him into a youth pastor and the man of faith he is today. He details his class clown and theatre beginnings, finding his comedy partner in Kenan Thompson, and the impact of the diversity shown on All That. Kel draws comparisons between his childhood in the southside of Chicago where he lost loved ones to gun and gang violence and the trauma young celebrities face in Hollywood. He discusses getting married at an early age and dealing with anxiety stemming from confusion over whether people loved him for his comedy characters or his true self. Kel opens up about his suicide attempt, how his faith led him to pursue a path toward mental wellness, and his journey to becoming a youth pastor. Mayim and Kel consider the mental health impact of living in communities touched by violence and intergenerational trauma. Miranda Cosgrove began her journey in film and television as a Nickelodeon mainstay, and now she's busy carving out a similar space for herself over at Netflix as she celebrates the release of her second romantic comedy for the streamer. Just last year she starred in Mother of the Bride opposite Brooke Shields, Benjamin Bratt, and Chad Michael Murray, and now she headlines and executive produces The Wrong Paris. In the film, Cosgrove plays Dawn, a young woman eager to study art in Paris, France. While she does manage to get into a prestigious program there, she can't quite afford it. That's where her reality TV-loving sister swoops in. Turns out, one of her favorite shows is doing a season set in Paris, so all Dawn has to do is get on the show, get eliminated fast, and then she's free to study. Trouble is, after Dawn is indeed selected as a contestant, the producers reveal that the season will actually take place in Paris ... Texas. With The Wrong Paris now available to watch on Netflix, Cosgrove visited the Collider Ladies Night studio for a chat about making the movie, and her journey to the streamer. While we did dig into her time on Drake & Josh and iCarly, Cosgrove also made a point to emphasize what a wonderful time she had on the set of her very first feature film. That movie? After that, she discusses her experience serving as an executive producer on the iCarly revival, and shares memories from the set of The Wrong Paris. Hosted on Acast. JayyRobb – The Voice of Triumph, Truth, and Transformation! From surviving the impossible to inspiring a generation, JayyRobb is not just an artist, he's a movement. Hailing from Kissimmee, Florida by way of Brooklyn and North Carolina, JayyRobb defies every label that tried to define him. He's an Inspirational Rap Artist, dynamic public speaker, and spiritual storyteller who uses his voice to turn pain into purpose, tragedy into triumph, and lyrics into lifelines. JayyRobb's music is built on a foundation of faith and resilience. He's not your typical Christian rapper—he's a bold, truth-telling voice for those walking through fire, fusing hard-earned wisdom with gritty beats and raw, unfiltered testimony. His style is uniquely his own, driven by a deep walk with God and a passion to uplift, not preach. Whether he's on stage or in the studio, JayyRobb brings healing, honesty, and hope. Born James Robert Wexler, JayyRobb is a living miracle. Pronounced dead six times before the age of two, he beat medical odds, overcame street violence (including being shot at age 10), survived the loss of loved ones, and battled deep depression and homelessness. Each chapter of pain only sharpened his purpose. After surrendering his life to Christ, JayyRobb chose music and ministry over the streets, and now pours his experiences into every verse with authenticity and purpose. With powerful singles like “God's Got Me” ft. LeeLee, “Tame Da Tongue,” and new releases “Take A Step Back” and “My Past Life,” JayyRobb's highly anticipated album “Blessed” is set to solidify his place as a transformative artist. No stranger to the spotlight, JayyRobb has also showcased his talent as an actor, appearing in major productions such as Deep Blue Sea, American Gladiator, Sharknado 3, and classic Nickelodeon shows. His natural charisma and presence light up every screen, making him a standout both in music and film. But through it all, his mission remains the same: As JayyRobb says: “If I can change just one person's world, that's enough to make it all worth it.” JayyRobb is proof that broken pieces can build powerful legacies. His life, his music, and his mission are all testaments to the power of perseverance, faith, and fire-forged destiny. The world needs more artists like JayyRobb—unapologetic, unfiltered, and unstoppable.

Summer is coming to an end and we're headed back to school! “School of Rock” is a film that hardly needs an introduction – it's a wholesome story of a hard rock burnout played by Jack Black who impersonates his way into a substitute teaching gig and ends up teaching his students how to rock out, with some life lessons for both the students and teacher along the way. But you already know all of that! We'll be discussing the inspiration for the film, the writers of the tunes, and talking about the Broadway musical and Nickelodeon show as well.
Sometimes a tale is so frightening, so petrifying, so heart stopping that it must become hidden from the public eye. Perhaps this is why the higher ups at Nickelodeon and Paramount have attempted to hide it from us fans. But we have discovered that very story and we are ready to share it with the world. For this episode we are looking at the three part series from Are You Afraid of the Dark?, "The Tale of the Silver Sight." We interview co-creator D.J. MacHale as we uncover the mystery of what makes the Midnight Society's story so special and why seasons 6 and 7 are overlooked by fans. Join us in the studio, have a seat around the campfire, and let the tale begin! My newsletter: https://simonowens.substack.com/ By the time Amy Wilson and Margaret Ables came together to launch a parenting podcast in 2016, both had already achieved some mainstream success in traditional Hollywood. Amy landed multiple roles in TV sitcoms and Margaret had worked for several years as a senior writer at Nickelodeon. They teamed up on the podcast, which is called What Fresh Hell, because it offered them more creative freedom and ownership over their work. Within years, advertisers were beating down their door to reach their enormous audience, which mostly consists of moms. In 2022, they leveraged that success to launch Adalyst Media, a podcast network that sells ads for other shows targeting female audiences. In a recent interview, Amy walked me through why she left traditional Hollywood, their decision to launch a network, and how she thinks the podcast industry will evolve in the coming years.

Nick is joined by film critics Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy for their regular round of movie reviews. They dig into Spike Lee's gripping new drama with Denzel Washington, Highest 2 Lowest, the high-octane sequel Nobody 2 starring Bob Odenkirk, and the wild, shoestring-budget horror oddity Jimmy and Stiggs, along with a few other fresh releases. Esmeralda Leon later stops by to take a nostalgic trip through the flashy days of LA Gear sneakers, afternoons spent watching Figure It Out on Nickelodeon, and late-night Taco Bell runs—preferably with a wisecracking chihuahua in the commercials.
